What a gem of a place! Stopped by here to get a gift dessert at short notice, and the nice gentleman at the counter really took time to help us out - he went above and beyond to help us pick the right gift that would last the distance (which it did). They have a large variety of available cakes (unlike most bakeries which require custom orders in advance), cupcakes and desserts. My daughter in law wanted to surprise my son with a grooms cake at their wedding and asked for my help. I called the bakery and they said to stop in with pictures or email them of what I was looking for. My husband and I stopped in and ordered the cake and paid for it. About a week later I got a phone call that they were sorry but they were unable to make the cake because they didn't have a baker on Sunday and we needed the cake for a Monday wedding and that they would refund me. Just found them on the web and called to see if they offered delivery, and if so would they go to Kennett Square? the young lady said yes to both, so i didn't think twice about placing an order. they will make the Black Forest Cake fresh and deliver it by Friday! I ordered a specific birthday cake on 6/1, paid in full up front. Went to pick it up today two weeks later - they have no cake & no record of my order. The young girl behind the counter was very apologetic & helpful, but this wasn't her fault. I placed my order with a middle aged gentleman who I guess forgot to file it? They refunded me the original purchase amount & sold me a display cake & some candles at full price. I'm not generally one to leave reviews like this, but my partner has been talking about this cake forever, it's literally the only thing she wanted for her birthday. We live a few blocks from the shop & have gotten numerous cakes & treats here over the years. This isn't their first mistake in my experiences there, but it's by far their biggest, & most definitely their last with me. Absolute garbage. I've stopped in here 3 times now and have been pleased every time both with the products and the service! My first time stopping in was around Valentine's Day, I got 4 different mini cheesecakes and took them home to share with my son and husband and we all really enjoyed them. The second time I stopped in on a whim, needing to pick up a last minute birthday cake for my husband. There were 4 different cakes in the display to choose from, all a little bigger than I needed but I believe this is their standard cake size (feeds 16) all 4 cakes looked really good. They had snickers, chocolate cream, Oreo & dulce de leche. My son suggested we go with the snickers cake and so we did. My husband was reallllly happy we made that choice. The next day we took a 1/4 of the cake to a small bday celebration for my grand mom and everyone who had it there loved it too!! I heard nothing but good things. Today my husband and I had lunch next door and decided to pop in after for a snack. We picked 5 different small items. 2 mini cheesecakes, a bombe, a caramel brownie and mini pecan pie. Everything looks AMAZING. So far we've had the caramel brownie and it's one of the best brownies I've ever had, if not the best. The bakery itself is great. I LOVE the fact that when you walk in, its not just a small space and a glass case. It's an open area where you can actually see everyone working on their baking. In the glass case you can see some mini cheesecakes, pies, and tarts that look absolutely delicious. Towards the bottom were some of the cupcakes. The girl up front was very friendly and explained what everything was. This visit since I was craving a cupcake, I bought 3. I had the Bacon w/ Maple Cream Cheese, Yellow with White Chocolate Raspberry and a Carrot Cupcake. All 3 were VERY dense cakes and super sweet. While they were tasty, I just couldn't love how heavy they felt. I also don't find the cupcakes to be as aesthetically pleasing as the other desserts. They don't use typical cupcake liners that would highlight the frosting/decor on the cupcake. They instead use parchment paper. I guess it's less messy when eating it but I wasn't a fan. I also didn't think it was worth $3.50. It seems like such a nice place. I'd go back but to try all the other things besides the cupcakes. read more

Where do I start... I ordered my daughters 11th birthday cake and cake pops from sweet something's 2 and 1/2 weeks in advance. I sent them photos and spoke with Lee regarding the order and it was stated that they could recreate all items without any problems. One day before picking up my order I received the call from Lee stating that they were unable to recreate the cake pops as ordered. I was truly disappointed in the lack of professionalism and customer service notifying me one day prior to pick it up my order. As stated truly I would have honored and preferred a call immediately after putting in my order as opposed to receiving a call one day prior to my pickup. Although leave offered to provide a refund for the cake pops no other courtesies were extended. Although the designs on my cake pop was not as ordered the cake pops design was beautiful and so I decided not to cancel the order and kept the cake pops. Would I recommend or order from sweet something's again I'm really not sure because of how my order was handled. It's such a shame because the cake was immensely moist and delicious but the customer service in the unexpected call is not acceptable!! read more

Can I just say the only bad thing about this place is that its over an hr from my house (for my waste line its really for the better, because I would be here everyday!)! My husband and daughter took me out for Mothersday, after dinner I was craving "Something Sweet" I found this place and my daughter (5yr old) used her own money to treated us. We got an Orange Dreamsicle cupcake and a Chocolate Ganache cupcake to share, both were OUTSTANDING! Slightly larger than a traditional cupcake, moist flavorful cake, delicious filling that goes all the way to the bottom and an amazingly delicious rich frosting that is just perfectly sweet with the slightest hint of salt to counter balance the whole cupcake (if you know, you know)! I hate a super sugary icing, these were just right and the best part is because they are not overly sweet you can eat more! My only regret was not getting more and not trying the lemon tart with pastashio crust because I'm sure it was amazing! We will definitely be back! read more
