First off let me say the customer service was good, they were attentive, friendly and helpful, but the cake and cupcakes were disappointing. The sheet cake's icing was at least 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch thick comparatively to the cake itself being about 2 inches thick. It was way too much icing and not enough cake and the filling in between was almost non existence to the point that the only way to taste the filling was to tear apart the cake layers and scoop off the filling and eat it by itself. The cupcakes were not better in terms of taste. I thought the flavors would be bold and vibrant but they did not have any of the bold taste that the name of the flavors suggest. Iv'e tasted way better cake and cupcakes many times before. This place was featured on a show but they must have used better ingredients and better recipes or when that show said they were amazing must have been paid to say it or Dana made them 100 percent different and better than what is sold in his shop. read more

Customer service is good, the products, unfortunately are not. We did have our wedding cake made here and were completely satisfied. That is what keeps me coming back to check in, but sadly the quality of things bought in store is lacking. Cakes made for us after the wedding cake have been dry, with extremely thick icing that lacks any real flavor. We ordered a peach cobbler and apple pie for Thanksgiving and both were seriously lacking the fruit department - which to me should basically be the main ingredient. The apple pie had more of a consistency of pumpkin pie with some identifiable apples and the cobbler was mainly bread/cake with minimal, hard to identify peaches. Neither tasted bad, but both lacked in overall flavor. I was disappointed and I don't think I will be going back again. read more

I went to a cake tasting and the samples provided were delicious. I gave a good review based on the tasting. Even paid extra to have the fillings that were so good. Ordered a wedding cake with flowers that i needed to provide so I dropped off a big bag of fake flowers. The day of the wedding i go to walk out to my ceremony and I see the cake. It's just a plain off white cake with no flowers at all! I panicked and started cutting flowers off of my wedding decorations to stick on the cake but I didn't have much time to sit there and hand decorate my wedding cake before walking down the aisle. I threw 3 flowers on there and had to go. They said they couldn't find the flowers. Never contacted me or the wedding coordinator. They didn't have any flowers to use in their shop? I haven't been in a while so I decided to give this place another try. I purchased an eggnog cheesecake and a dozen cupcakes and took them to work. Well the cheesecake was stale and tasted like the back of the refrigerator - I should have known buying an eggnog cheesecake in Jan is kinda fishy bc eggnog is out of season. POSTED ON BEHALF OF MY SISTER: I placed an order for a half sheet Fortnite Battle Royale cake for my sons' birthday party. I picked up the cake on Saturday September 26 at 10:00am. When the cake was ready to be served, I tasted the cake and noticed that the frosting used was not what I ordered, it tasted like a whipped cream-based frosting. In addition, the trimming around the cake was tasteless and fondant was used to create the digitalized image that I provided. I contacted the bakery to inform them of the discrepancy and was directed to voice mail, I left a detailed message and expected a call. No one returned my call on the next business day. I called again on Tuesday, September 29 and spoke to the owner Dana Herbert. I explained my issue with the cake; particularly, the frosting was whipped and did not have a taste commonly associated with buttercream. I offered to bring the cake back so that he can validate my claim; I was told that was not necessary. The owner assured me that he would investigate the issue and call me back with the outcome. I waited for a couple of days and did not hear back from him. I called the establishment on numerous occasions throughout the week and no one picked up my call which is unacceptable and very unprofessional! The issue has never been resolved; he completely brushed me off. This is one of several reasons why many African Americans don't like to do business with black-owned establishments--lack of professionalism and concern for customers. I will never do business or recommend my colleagues do business with this establishment! We booked our cake tasting with them for our wedding next year September. Due to us being dual military we have to get things done early based on our unpredictable lifestyle. We selected red velvet, pink champagne, lemon, strawberry banana and cookies & cream as our cake flavors . For our fillings, we selected chambord buttercream, bavarian cream with strawberries, and salted caramel and chocolate. We tasted our selection and it was a HIT. None of the flavors missed so we were so torn. When Dana arrived, we thought we were going straight into cake business. Little did we know that pastry Chef Dana had the gift of connecting with his clients. The next time I looked at the clock 3 1/2 hours had flown by. Chef Dana was more invested into both my fiancé and I individual stories, how we met, wedding vision, and our future. meanwhile, he was using all of this information to brainstorm and cultivate our final depiction of our five tier wedding cake. Within the last 15 minutes of our conversation, Chef Dana, was able to sketch our entire cake in a way that encompassed our story, our vision and our wedding theme. Just moved to the area from Philly and wanted to check this place out. As a former baker, I can say that the quality of their desserts is incredible so far. I have tried the death by chocolate cup, red velvet cup and brownies, all have been absolutely delicious. The brownie is cooked to be gooey which is exactly how I love them. WORST CAKE EVER !!!!!! For my daughters 21st birthday, we ordered a drunken turtle with a wine glass. The top tier was pink champagne and the second tier was chocolate with chocolate mousse. She was so excited to have a cake designed by Dana the cake boss winner. She was scheduled to pick up the cake at 8 pm Friday night. We called to confirm the pick up that morning. At 3:30 we received a call from desserts by Dana saying that we had to pick up the cake by six. This was very inconvenient for us because it interfered with our dinner plans. She went and picked up her cake which she received in a Lowe's box. I have never heard of a bakery using a Lowe's box and not a bakery box. The cake was not what we ordered. We received a cake that looked like it was made by a fifth grade home economics class. The pink champagne cake tasted like vanilla cake with pink food dye. The chocolate cake was dense and dryer than Death Valley at high noon in the summer. Mixed reviews on this special occasion carved cake. I provided a picture of what I had in mind for a going away party. It turned out great looking so was excited that the taste would equal or exceed my expectations. The cake itself was moist and flavorful but the buttercream was overkill. Much of the cake was just buttercream shaped into the state vs icing on a truly carved cake. You'll see in the pictures the amount of icing covering the whole cake edges and the sparse layer of cake on the bottom with a thick buttercream center. For $200 I expect more professional construction. I've had cake boss cakes and others carved cakes (for half the price) and was hoping this could be a local solution vs driving far. The design got the ooohs and ahhhs, but was a disappointment in quality. read more
