Went here over the weekend and have been looking forward to it for a while now...it's a bit of a trek from my location but wanted to try it. Had a couple of breakfast pastries, a cheese danish which was good (not exceptional)and the same with the crumb bun. Tried 4 differently slices of cake. The best one was the chocolate raspberry ( a little heavy on the gelatin for the raspberry glaze). The 2nd best was the Black Forest; 3 and 4th is tough...I would have to pick the red velvet ( even though it was a bit off and maybe a day older) and the runner up was the German chocolate cake, a little heavy on coconut and I didn't taste any pecans. read more

Was in the area at lunchtime and wanted to try a new place when this bankers came up on YELP. Glad to find it. Ordered the small soup and 1/2 sandwich combo. The soup of the day was lobster bisque and I chose the Bavarian Bird sandwich in sourdough bread. The bread was so fresh and delish. Wound up buying a loaf to go home with me. The soup was very creamy and flavorful with a strong hint of Sherry. It had minute pieces of lobster, this bisque was very tasty. My sandwich had nice fresh lettuce and tomato slices , oven roast (Boars Head) Turkey and Swiss cheese with a Smear of Mayonnaise. The only thing I would change about it maybe a few more slices of Turkey. The bakery side was amazing! Everything you can ever want ,pumpkin rolls, breads. Slices of cakes and the whole ones. Of course I chose my ultimate favorite an eclair. This had weight to it having been freshly filled with real Bavarian Creme. It was so good I gobbled it right down! Go here if in the area! Bavarian Bakery and Deli is amazing! I wish I lived near a local sandwich and bakery close to this good but disappointingly, I'm not. Dover has a gem. I called ahead to ask if I could order lunch for 11 people and they said, Sure! They took my order over the phone and had all my individually orders ready for pick on time and individually labeled. It was such a treat to grab a box full of their delicious baked goods for dessert. Their chocolate cookies were to die for! I was hoping to snag a cannoli but someone else got to them first. So sad about my experience at Bavarian Bakery on Thurs, 21 Aug 25. I went there about 0930, no other customers, the owner was abrupt with me during the entire process of getting my pastries! I was shocked!! The 2 other individuals working there looked so sad and there was no interaction among them. I will never go there again! This individual was rude; who cares how the pastries taste when you walk out to your car & ask yourself, WTH just happened in there?? BTW, the carrot cake was dry and tasteless. Breakfast sandwiches on a light and airy croissant are very good and we had an Italian deli sandwich that was excellent. Highly recommend - everything we have tried has been terrific! Pastries are not overly sweet. The soft pretzels are amazing in texture and flavor. We plan to return many times to try one of everything! The first time I was there waiting in line and spoke to a gentlemen also waiting - he told me he drives from DC just to go to this bakery on weekends. I highly recommend the deli! They are not skimpy on the meats, so I'm normally satisfied with just a sandwich. I'm not a desert person, but they definitely have some great options for those with a sweet tooth. I personally enjoy their cheesecake or any pastry with cheese. How lucky am I some days? So lucky to have this wonderful bakery so close to my home. So lucky to have thoughtful people in my life who thank me for a favor by dropping off a box of perfect pastries. So lucky to be able to look forward to quick stops into the small but stuffed shop to pick out things for my guests. (That's a hint! Though if you come on Sunday you'll miss these treats.) Just so lucky. I haven't been able to sample their lunch sandwiches yet, but I have high hopes for them based on the breakfast sandwich I grabbed one morning. I've tried a fair sampling of the baked goods and can say that I prefer the pastries over the cakes. I don't bake enough to tell you why the cakes don't make me as happy, but there's no downside, as the pastries are truly amazing. The almond horns are my favorites. Worth the trip!! This was our second time here. On our first trip, we had their tortellini salad, muffins, mini cannolis, a chocolate croissant, and "buttons" which are smaller black and white cookies. Everything was delicious!! Today we picked up muffins, buttons, cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate raspberry cake, chocolate croissant, German style potato salad, chicken salad and the last container of their scrumptious tortellini salad. We only had the salads so far. They are fabulous like homemade! We are saving the desserts for our company tonight. Growing up on Long Island, there were bakeries everywhere. I've recently tried this Bakery on the recommendation of a co-worker! They are amazing! Totally satisfied! For the price of 14$ approximately (+\-), you can get a small soup, a full size sandwich and a desert! And they taste amazing! Unique! The deserts taste very similar to European deserts!
