Not Justa Cafe is a cute cafe in Bayport. I went around 11am on a Monday morning and it wasn't busy. The service and food was quick. My server was friendly and helped me decide what to order. I ordered the country fried steak and a coffee. The country fried steak came with eggs, toast, and a hash brown for $13.50. I ordered my eggs scrambled and they came as very thin strips of eggs cut up, different, but they were fine. The highlight of my meal was the hashbrowns. They were thin, so more crispiness than not. The country fried steak was not anything I would come back for. The steak itself was good but I've never had country fried steak with a brown gravy. It just didn't hit the spot like usual. I really wish we had a 5 star restaurant for breakfast here in little Bayport . So many chances but not so good. Once in a while they get it right. Sausage gravy special was very good but it's only on the menu as a special. When did restaurants decide that we can make food ahead of time, attempt to reheat it and serve over cooked barely warm food. They need to start with better ingredients, cook from scratch, cook to order and serve it HOT. We ate there recenty and were not real happy about our meals. One of us had the Hot Beef Sandwich and the other the Hot Turkey. The Beef one was not too bad but the Turkey one was not very good. We both had corn as our side dish and it was not very fresh. read more

It's one of the restaurants in Bayport so I understand why it's so popular. We ordered the pancakes with strawberries and whip cream, Denver omelette, cinnamon roll and a side of bacon and side of hash browns. The kitchen was backed up but we were told before we ordered so I was fine with the wait. Pancake - it was somewhat dry and a little crispy. There was no flavor to the pancake itself but once you added syrup or strawberries it was ok. While it was HUGE I would not order again. Cinnamon Roll - soft and delicious. Would highly recommend. Denver Omelette with hash browns - hash browns were done perfectly. Crispy and a little greasy. The omelette was a little runny for me but they really filled it with ham, onions and peppers. The waffles here are amazing. The batter is flavorful, and they're brown and crispy. The mold is perfect too! I wasn't a huge fan of my Denver omelet. I think the cheese was American, and there was ALOT of it. It was overwhelming. This might seem insignificant, but the toast was buttered perfectly, and was very good. Sometimes pre-buttered bread is just dabbed inconsistently... but this was perfect, lol. I have a pet peeve, and I hate waiting an extra long time for food (especially because I typically have young kids with me). We had no idea how tiny this cafe was until we walked in. If we had known, we probably wouldn't have come on a Sunday for breakfast since we would have guessed that it would be hard to get seated, but there was an empty table or two. There is a diner counter as well as tables and booths. Lots of things on the walls to look at. Bright, cheery, clean. Busy atmosphere sounds, but nothing that prevented a conversation with my husband. We sat down and almost immediately the server greeted us and shortly after that, delivered two waters and menus. She was working hard and efficiently for all the tables and booths in the care. Another server worked behind the counter. Both were busy cleaning, delivering, refilling, stocking, etc. Hard workers with friendly attitudes! That said, the food was a little slower than I've experienced before coming out after we ordered. To the food... - I had the Mexican omelet which was delicious. And huge. Like, really big. The sausage in the omelet was cut up sausage links, which didn't bother me, but may for some people. (4.5/5) It came with hashbrowns which were crispy and plentiful (5/5); as well as toast which was slathered in butter (yum!) but could have been toasted just a bit longer.(4/5) I also ordered one piece of french toast. They do not shy on the butter, which makes it all taste great. The french toast was good (5/5). The syrup was "ok" - very grocery store syrup tasting (3.5/5). It would be great if they had a real maple syrup. - My husband ordered the country fried steak. (4/5) It came with beef gravy, which they double checked with him about when he placed the order, since most people are expecting a sausage gravy. His meal also came with eggs (3.5/5) and toast (4/5) and he ordered a side of bacon (2/5). The bacon was pretty undercooked, unfortunately. The part that wasn't undercooked had a good smoky flavor. I've had bacon at this place before and it's usually very crispy. We probably should have asked to have it cooked more. He ordered his eggs "over medium" and one came out as would be expected and the other was overcooked. He also had hashbrowns and they weren't as crispy as mine because it was a thicker stack, so that was a little disappointing. (3.5/5) We left full. Just classicly amazing breakfast at reasonable prices. They never disappoint! I usually get the french toast with bacon and it always hits to the spot. I went with my husband on Monday 9/16 11am. This WAS one of our regular places. No more. We chose a table and sat down. The table was still wet from wiping it down so my husband asked the waitress to please dry it off. She said I don't have anything dry, use your napkins. !! We began to do that and he said we're going to need more napkins. She whirled around and said you could have sat at another table or the counter! I said she's trying to kick us out! He told me we're staying so she can serve us! The waitress said loudly why don't you go to the other side in the bar area where someone else can wait on you!! So we left. As we got to the door my husband swore at her. He had never done that before in his life. The way she acted was worse than swearing. What a vile attitude she had. After reading all the other bad reviews I see they go back for years, so it's clear no one cares. This place should be shut down for good. People like this should not work in customer service. There are plenty of other jobs not dealing with the public and this is where she and others like her belong. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE ABUSED. Have always freaking loved this place. Utterly the best breakfast food around that kicks Ihop and even perkins right in the arse. It tastes so homey like your mother made it. The staff are pretty nice and food comes quickly. The toast is phenomenal with their black coffee for some reason. If this place ever closes I'll cry. We decided to come here since had been here a few times prior to Covid and never had a bad experience. I must say today was pretty bad. We first went into the restaurant and they said there would probably be a wait if we wanted to eat inside but the lady suggested that we check out the back patio to see if any spots there open. We went out back which I am assuming is still the restaurant but maybe the bar IDK? and there was a spot where some people had just left. We sat down and could tell it was a bit busy and waited for waitress to clear table. Sadly she removed dishes from the table but she never wiped down the table which was gross, so I just sprayed it down with my own hand sanitizer. Next we waited quit some time for her to take our order. Once she took the order we waited and waited. About 30-35 minutes later she came out and said I am so sorry I just found out we don't have the sauce for your one item. We told her it was not a big deal so she left again. We waited more. I was super agitated when the two ladies that came in about 10 minutes after us got all of their food before us. I asked the waitress as she passed by if something was wrong with our order? She just said "no the kitchen is just really backed up today." Didn't really apologize or acknowledge that it had been such a long wait for us. That was the part that bothered me the most. If she would have had better customer service skills and apologized it maybe wouldn't have been so bad. Finally after a total of about 50 minutes we got our food and at this point I was super frustrated! I always expect a wait and slower service when a place is busy but this was ridiculous. I seriously think that the kitchen forgot our order. All of our food was good so I am happy about that part! There was only 1 waitress for the entire back patio and she was working hard but everyone always seemed like they were waiting for something. In my opinion 50 minutes is way too long to wait for a meal and unacceptable. The things we ordered were just your average breakfast stuff nothing too fancy. I don't think I have ever even waited this long for a steak dinner. Disappointing to say the least! Also during covid I would think they should be disinfecting the surfaces between patrons! At Not Justa Café, it is perfect. Every time. The doneness of the eggs is spot on, the hash browns are crispy on the top with a firm buttery interior, the bacon is meaty and crispy, and the rye toast is fresh. All of this is delivered piping hot (why is this so hard at other restaurants?). The cafe and bar are next door to one another. We eat at the slightly less cramped bar. I would have given five stars, but the coffee is a bit weak and seating is tight. Tip: For Sunday breakfast, get there before 10 AM to avoid crowds. There is no waiting area. In the winter, you will have to wait outside. Avoid sitting at the bar, where locals sip their morning Bloody Mary's and the bartender ignores the non-drinking breakfast crowd. read more

You walk in and it was a seat yourself, old fashioned café. The menu was sizeable. I ordered the Turkey Melt which was the perfect size for a lunch. The food was tasty but nothing overly memorable. The hours on this place are a little strange as it transitions at around 2pm over to a different part of the building which is the bar. This was a little different compared to what I am used to. The venue itself is cute yet dated. I guess it adds to the ambiance. To go to the bathroom though you have to walk through the kitchen...super strange! This place is also cash only. This place would totally deserve more stars if it was up with the times, but the cash only component is not something you see these days. read more

We came here for breakfast on a Sunday at 11:00 am. We sat on the cafe side. This place is unique in many ways! They have a cafe entrance and a bar entrance. The cafe side is a traditional cafe style restaurant with booth seating and a lunch counter. 8 booths and room for 12 at the counter. The bar entrance is a traditional bar that has room to seat another 60-70 people at tables and the bar rail. They serve the full breakfast menu on both sides. So there is usually a seat even though they are busy. Larger groups fit better on the bar side. The food and service are great! They have 4 egg omelettes, pancakes, eggs Benedict and their own style of skillet dishes call a "mess". Their menu is worth a stop in Bayport, MN and what makes it extra special is the service. They only serve food till 2pm so be sure to get there early. Another positive aspect is that you can see the kitchen and all the workings, nothing is hidden. The place could use some new glassware and a paint job, but the service was friendly and the food was tasty and filling. The walls must be suffocating due to the high volume of tacky signs posted on every square inch. Some are funny... after you've O.D.ed on caffeine. Just absolutely loved this place. Wandered in around 10:30 on a Saturday - it was busy, but I found a place at the counter right away. The coffee was hot and delicious and the lovely woman serving at the counter set me up with my own pot to refill at will. I had the Denver "mess", which is basically eggs however you want them cooked over your selected toppings (Denver: cheese, peppers and ham - duh) and hashbrowns + some truly lovely sourdough toast. They also gave me some house hot sauce (at least I think it was house...I've never seen the brand before) that was AWESOME. All in all, a lovely Saturday morning excursion in Bayport!
