Another one of my go-to spots, Not Just a Burger truly lives up to its name--they serve one of the best bacon cheeseburgers in town. Oddly enough, I've also become a big fan of their catfish po' boy, which says a lot since I usually stick to my favorite dish wherever I go. My coworkers agree, and it's become one of our regular lunch stops--we find ourselves eating here at least twice a month. I returned home via flight Friday morning and had several errands to run due to the storms that ripped though the area Thursday. I pretty much stayed down Lakeland Drive for most of the day and had planned to eat at Osaka. While checking to see if a friend in the area had regained power, she mentioned Not just a Burger so I went there instead. It's attached to a gas station but had the feel of a regular restaurant. It appears to be a family owned business as well. I was greeted warmly by the young lady at the counter and she immediately asked if it was my first time. She was helpful in picking what I wanted, which was the ex-ordinary burger combo. This was a huge burger with a fresh beef patty. I truly appreciated it was one of those frozen patties most places use. I asked for no mayo but they also left off the bbq sauce. The burger was good but would have been great if I had gone back up and asked for the bbq sauce. The fries were very good as well. Service and food is worth the visit! read more

Admitting a soft spot for restaurants next to clean gas stations. Some of the best taco and burger spots can be found there. Like this one. Super clean little place and friendly staff who take pride in their product. As the name suggests, they have more than burgers and since I was jonesin' for catfish, or ordered the catfish platter. Five perfectly fried filets, hot, with crisp fries, house made tartar sauce, and a salad was just over $15. Crazy good value. The pro move is dipping the fries in the tartar sauce. We stopped in looking for a quick bite after shopping. Reviews here were good so we decided to give it a try and we were very pleasantly surprised. From the outside it appears it is attached to gas station but it has own entrance and locally owned. Service was excellent. Took about 7mins to get excellent burgers freshly made. I had the turkey burger which for some reason. One seems to be able to cook without drying them out. This one had grilled mushrooms, onions and pepper jack and it was SOO GOOD. The food is made fresh. The burgers are real ground beef. The food is NOT GREASY at all! The fried fish does not have a smell or fishy taste. I'm picky about my fish. The okra is close to mine, so I love it!! Everything I've tried has been cooked to Perfection! The servings are HUGE. You will not be hungry after your meal. Only in The south don't get the best food at a gas station. Ordered chicken tenders, shrimp and fish combo and small chicken tenders. The man behind the counter was friendly and said everything is great. He didn't lie. For those that care they have a seal drink menu (adult beverages). Well. I didn't have high hopes for this one, I have to admit. If you look at the attached picture, you would conceivably understand why. By now, as always, I judge a place by it's takeout. I feel like I've said that somewhere before... and when this arrived by Waitr, today, I just really believed that this was going to be horrible. The burger bun was burnt(ish), the burger looked stale and the fries were just soggy. That's about where my disappointment ended. What I Ordered: Klassic Burger Combo - Add Cheese Extra Side of Fries Diet Dr. Pepper Instructions: Please don't salt the fries and please add ketchup, mayo, mustard and fixings on the side. Please include tomato. How they did: Burger with Cheese - Check Extra Side of Fries - Check No Salt on Fries - Check Condiments and Fixings on the Side - Check Tomato - No Check The Quality: Okay....so if you know what an Athenian Diner is - then you know what a good, simple diner burger tastes like. In the South these diners don't really exist (to my knowledge) but this MAY be as close as you get to one in terms of the burger. The fries, while yes, soggy, and without a doubt previously frozen, were still tasty. Are they high quality? No. Are they decent fries? Yes. If you order takeout, however, you may want to get them in a loose, brown paper bag so they don't lose their crispiness. Standard fries, you'll be reasonably happy. The burger is a straight-up burger. It's a thin bun, a little charred on top, don't know why but it wasn't a negative at all. The burger was cooked well, had really good flavor and good texture. Very simple, well-made patty. 10/10 would do it again. So why 4 stars? There were things that could be done better. This traveled all the way from the Outlets of Pearl to Jackson and did well on it's travels. Despite being slightly cold it was a good meal and one that deserves 3-4 stars in taste and deliciousness. We went to the new location in Flowood. The space is small, so seating is limited. They do have 1 table outside available. The staff was cordial, not overly friendly. The burgers were very good. The patties are made from scratch; not bought from a food vendor, thawed out and cooked. Per the order time on our ticket, It took us right at 40 minutes to get our food. I will say, they were extremely busy and had several to go orders in front of us. The drinks didn't come out until we received our food. By the time the food got there, we were extremely thirsty and the drinks do not include free refills. Personally, I think $2.20 for an iced tea and an additional $0.75 for a refill is ludicrous. That will have to change or they will surely lose business. All in all, burgers were great, staff was average, wait time was lengthy. It's worth a try, but expect to be there a minute. read more

This place was amazing! Ordered a catfish and shrimp basket and both the shrimp and fish were so fresh and very delicious. I asked the owner how long they've been opened and she said it's only been opened for a couple months. Observing the other customers that were dining in and ordering take out, they all were giving amazing feedback on how great the food was and they were not wrong!! This is my first time in Mississippi and I'm glad that the first restaurant I ate at was a perfect 5! I highly recommend this spot to everyone! Y'all already know how this story starts... I ran away from home this past Saturday, and took a friend along! As always I had no destination planned. It's more fun that way, right! Anywho, Pearl, MS was where we ended up! Believe it or not but we didn't do any gambling while there BUT we did find this cool burger place, in the middle of an outlet mall, no less. This mall was crawling with people since the sun was out. "Not Just A Burger" is very small but they've don't a great job at making the most of their space. "L" shaped order area. At the left end of the counter they have menus in plexiglass, I'm not sure if this is a Covid precaution or how it's done all the time. They also have, on the wall behind the counter, a (very pretty) handwritten menu as well. They have a pretty good variety of food for such a small place. The have burgers, chicken and other yummy stuff!! If you dine in, you'll order and take your seat. When your food is ready, they'll bring it to you at one of their booths or tables. Again, it's small inside but that does NOT translate into "small" flavor! My burger was packed with flavor! It appeared to be patted out by hand, which never hurts my feelings!! I don't care for Mayo ON my burgers but I do like it in the side. Some places huff when I ask for it on the side, she didn't at all, and she even put my pickles on the side, as requested. They were pretty busy and with all the food made to order, we knew that we would be waiting for a little bit but since I love people watching, it was all good. And when we did get it, it was worth the wait!! I was so hungry that I didn't even take a single photo!! Oh and I forgot the fries. They were good but not special. My burger was so good that the fries were an afterthought. They did use a seasoned salt of sorts that was really good on them!
