Fun place. Low key and happy. Toms of sports on TV. Great value and great neighborhood sports bar.

Very small with just a few tables and home cooked meals. Unbelievable choice for early bird specials. Check it out.

My family was in the restaurant for mother's day. I understand that we were a large group of 10 and…read morehow this can present challenges to a server. Hannah was our server, and she is the reason I write this email today. From the start, Hannah seemed very rude. She said that we couldn't add anymore chairs because we couldn't block the adjacent booth, but we were allowed to use the booth for our "overflow". I don't see the difference, but whatever. My son and I were at the overflow and she nearly completely forgot to get his order, as his was the last to be taken per her request. I had to nearly yell at her to make sure he was able to order. We had to keep going to the bar and getting our own refills, and we had to get our own to-go boxes as she seemed to just disappear after giving us the bill. Many orders were wrong or super late. My aunt got chicken strips and fries but they didn't come out and the same time and she eventually had to go to the bar and get her own fries. When I ordered for my son, I was pointing at the menu, the kids part, and said I wanted the KIDS chicken and FF for my son, but then I suppose I messed her up when trying to ask if we could get the KIDS mac and cheese instead of FF. She then went on to describe what I believe was the alfredo pasta. I didn't say anything to her mix-up, just went ahead with the kids' chicken and ff. I state it like that because she did not bring a kid's plate but rather an adult plate. I got the special (delicious btw) salmon, potato, green beans and salad. I ordered a baked potato with sour cream; I got mashed with gravy. I again, didn't say anything as she already seemed overwhelmed, plus I was not about to wait for just a potato and hold up our entire group. I had to ask a second waitress for my included desert, which I did receive. My sister had ordered a chicken sandwich (cold) and I'm not sure what she was brought but it wasn't the right dish. My niece waited the longest for her food, not getting until the rest of our group was nearly done. Our family absolutely loves Papa's. We come there all the time, even with our big group and we have never had these types of problems before. Your other staff are super friendly and helpful. I just thought that you should be aware of how our mother's day dinner went.

Though the table was mere feet away from the host/cashier station, I was not attended to for 20 minutes. My order of tuna salad wrap and a three cheese omelet with a side of potatoes and english muffin took 25 minutes to arrive. The good: The tuna wrap was generously portioned and tasty as was the tuna salad which featured a baseball sized portion of fish spread on a bed of lettuce. However, that success was mitigated by a cold $12 three egg omelet containing what appeared to be congealed cheddar and mozzarella and topped with a square of American cheese. It also came with barely warm potatoes. The cheeses are not described on the menu and I failed to ask so that's on me. The English muffin was fine, as was the portion size though a hungry eater might disagree. I promptly scraped off the square of American cheese (is American cheese really cheese?) and sent back the omelet. The same one returned minutes later warmed briefly on the griddle -- so not congealed but not remade. The potatoes were slightly warmer than before though not sufficiently appetizing to consume. The hostess was not responsive to my complaint of slow service and cold food, offering no apologies. Its too bad as I have frequented Country Boy in my youth since the 1980's. Back then it was a "Greek" style breakfast diner. At some point I stopped going. I thought they deserved a visit now that they also offer a full lunch and dinner menu, plus the grits are pretty good when they have some (No grits after 2pm). Its no mean feat to remain fifty years in the same location. The other tablemates had nice looking, freshly made food including a particularly large hamburger served with crispy fries that looked great. The verdict: Country Boy cooks good food and has the potential to excel with better management and attentive staffing. In the meantime I am heading to Starlight Cafe across the road (Gus cooks to order and Mina serves with a smile), and Benedict's on Curlew and Alt 19 which features great food with excellent service.

The "off" taste was so strong I couldn't taste the veggies or cheese. The only thing that tasted good was the rye toast! Even the hash browns had the same "off" taste. Waitress was lovely. What more can one ask for? We usually come for breakfast (often passing by on our morning walk). Coffee is always delicious (a sine qua non for me). I usually get one of the generous omelettes (Mediterranean is my favorite), my wife loves the breakfast wrap, and our daughter (who was tube-fed for most of her life) finishes off a plate-sized pancake plus scrambled egg (what an achievement for her!). When we have lunch, I most enjoy the over-packed tuna sandwich; my wife goes for the rueben, and Charlotte can (amazingly) finish off her "king-sized" spaghetti and meatballs. On our visit to Covered Bridge this week, we were treated to a free Christmas Pancake dessert (see attached photo), and a visit to our table by the chef to wish us a Merry Christmas. What a sweet touch, and how great it is to feel "at home" in our favorite restaurant of our "second home"! Visit Covered Bridge for great food and be part of their family!
