This same banker in their Shrewsbury branch notarized a newer POA six weeks ago and she personally knew that my father was in late stage dementia. When we checked into this, Avidia could not find our 2021 and valid POA in his file and was using the new one. We fought with the bank and they finally did acknowledge our POA as the valid one. Avidia's POA and Notary Services policies, controls and prcedures are non existant. Any customer with a POA or needing notary services, beware. Especially an elderly customer!

Opened one savings and one checking for my retired mom and jumped through all the hoops to fund them, to move her SS direct deposits, etc and followed all the directions as explained by the branch customer service rep (Tammy?). Guess what? Seems like we/she missed some fine prints and my mom got $0 (vs $600 she was supposed to receive, which would be an excellent addition to her $530 monthly SSI). So, they tricked an old lady out of $600! well done, Citizen's. What a scam.

Credit unions are run as a "not-for-profit" which means profits are invested back into customers/members. So basically, the better they do, the better services you get like lower interest loans. So not only should you join, you should get others to join too. Look it up, legally banks are committed to maximize profits for their shareholders, while credit unions #1 priority is its customers/members. Millbury Credit Union is great, the staff is knowledgable and friendly. They actually give you advice on how to avoid fees, rather than banks who knowingly mislead you so they can collect fees. Most banks make most of their money off fees, not interest. Don't think that just cause you go to a small local bank its the same thing as a credit union. Many small local banks have the same formula for success as large banks and follow the same business model. They work to maximize their profits while claiming they are not like bank of america. Their top priority is investors, well when you got a credit union , you are an investor.
