A Tale of Two Downtown Maynard Banks…read more I recently moved to lovely and community-oriented Maynard, MA and decided to open a new account at a local bank, of which there are two choices: Citizens Bank and Middlesex Savings Bank. TL;DR: Citizens Bank gets 5 starts. Middlesex Savings Bank gets 1 star for one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. See my review there for the gory details. I went to Citizens on a Sat and both the employees seemed happy to be there, super-friendly, and competent. The whole place had a nice, laid-back feel. Opening a new account went super-smoothly, and the fit, distinguished-looking gentleman who helped me was a joy to work with. Their IT could be a bit better and it'd be great if they had free coffee, but in my opinion the major factor in choosing a bank is the training, demeanor, and friendliness of their staff, and on that account Citizens did a great job!
