I had no familiarity with Credit Unions, so I started doing some homework. They offer all the banking services you need - online banking, fixed rate credit card, debit card, checking & savings, car loan, etc. All your deposits are insured/back up by the federal government up to $250,000 in a similar fashion to FDIC through the NCUA. All of the staff at the branch on Park Ave have always been very friendly and easy to deal with. I had gotten used to the attitude of the big banks, assuming that was basically the only option available. I'm glad to learn that's not the case. I highly recommend AllCom Credit Union to anybody in the Worcester area who wants to be treated like a human being when handling their banking & financial matters.

So not only should you join, you should get others to join too. Look it up, legally banks are committed to maximize profits for their shareholders, while credit unions #1 priority is its customers/members. Millbury Credit Union is great, the staff is knowledgable and friendly. They actually give you advice on how to avoid fees, rather than banks who knowingly mislead you so they can collect fees. Most banks make most of their money off fees, not interest. Don't think that just cause you go to a small local bank its the same thing as a credit union. Many small local banks have the same formula for success as large banks and follow the same business model. They work to maximize their profits while claiming they are not like bank of america. One day I noticed that my escrow account (the one I have to have for real estate) was closed and is no longer attached to my account on line and on the app. I called the online banking and they told me that because there was no money in it, they closed it. My first issue is that I was not notified. My second issue is how it was handled after that. The person on the phone told me I would need to talk to a branch and connected me to Park Ave. Irina asked me what she can help me with and I specifically asked the first guy to explain so I wouldn't have to. Minor irritation. She told me that she would need to research why the account was closed. I told her I already know why and just need to open a new one and get checks. She told me that I had to come in. I told her that I was too busy and asked her if I can open an account on line, she said yes. She then transferred me to Cal who gave me a hard time and kept telling me to come in. When I asked how to get an account on line, he said he doesn't have the time to sit with me and walk me through the process of setting up an account on line. I said just tell me where to find it. He said the website and then hung up. I could not find it anyways. Poor customer services!!
