    Worcester Credit Union

I transferred all my $ to this credit union because of all my fellow teachers were doing it and it…read moreturned out to be the biggest mistake of my life. There isn't enough space to write about every ordeal they have put me through. The fact that they have a high turnover speaks volumes. I have been embarrassed so many times because they somehow manage to screw up my linked accounts and things start bouncing when they shouldn't because I have more than enough $ in one of my Savings account. This has happened twice and Ive had to go to the top to make them refund their "penalty fees" they have charged me for their own mistakes! This time Im filing a complaint with te CFPB to make it public- so sick and tired of their incompetent and unprofessional way they run their business. Unfortunately, there's a Savings account attached to my other two accts with zero $ in it that I cant close bcse my son's name is on it and he needs to come personally to the credit union to close it - that's the account they keep linking my checking account to and I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS HAPPENS. Anyway, my son is a Marine, currently deployed in Japan and he laughs at their ridiculous demand of asking him to go there personally to close an account that has been dormant and with no $ for years. They dont do Apple Pay but somehow they have screwed up not only that account but Instacart and my Red Card from Target. Back in November, they "upgraded" their system and that somehow screwed up my monthly statements that were delivered to my email. Havent seen a statement since. You would think I can get instead an eStatement from the online banking but that doesnt work either. The ignorant customer rep I contacted sent me an explanation as to how to open "edocs" - click here, click there, go to a new window and I was is she kidding me right now? I had already told her that out of the THREE accounts I have, I can only get statements from two but nothing for the primary account, which is the only checking account I have. You would assume that that would've let her know that I do know how to open edocs duh. I asked the customer rep to email me the statements for November and December and she said "no cant do until the next cycle" WTH!!!! No bank would ever tell you, sorry we cant send you copies of the statements we neglected to send you for another month.... This is simply unbelievable! Planning to travel? Prepared to be embarrassed! It doesn't matter how many times you tell them, in writing or in person, they will still decline your out-of-state transaction because they are that incompetent and irresponsible! More... I recently received a check in the amount of $500 from my aunt in PR who is a millionaire so I know her checks are good. The ignorant teller looked at the check and said "I dont think we can accept a check from another country" from another country, you ignorant moron? I patiently reminded him that yes, they have to accept checks from ANY country but that PR is not considered "another country" per se, as it is a territory of the US. Then he says well, she wrote "quinientos" and Idk what that means. How about you look it up? I am certainly not teaching my 85yr old aunt the numbers in English now. Then he goes and discusses the "big issue" with the manager who seemed just as confused as the teller. Im thinking how ridiculous is this!!!! The manager comes over and says "well we are concerned that the check is going to be returned" That's your concern? NOT that it wld happen but if it is returned, so f'n what? Dont you make $ on the returned check by charging me a penalty fee? The $ I have on my accounts would pay for that check 100 times so what is the problem? That was the 2nd time they give me a hard time over a check that was written in Spanish. The first time I complained to the Vice President and that teller was nowhere to be seen again. I dont want anybody fired but I wld certainly like the tellers to be more sensitive and culturally aware. Ive wasted enough time writing this review but I thought it was important to let people know how incompetent this credit union is. And what Ive mentioned here is only a few of the issues Ive faced with them. Why haven't I switched? Because I have too many direct deposits and too many automatic transactions set up but I will make the time soon enough. Dont stress yourself unnecessarily - take your hard earned money to a solid reputable financial institution that has your best interest in mind. Nothing good will come out of doing business with this credit union. Believe me!

Went there to get a secured loan to help my niece build her credit. Took them forever to get back…read moreto us and then they declined us believe it or not for a secured loan? This Bank In General::…read more Likes: * Local, proudly servicing the blighted no-mans land between Worcester and Springfield LOL. Locally rooted and stable with about $1.5B in assets, $1B in deposits which is notably higher when compared against other Massachusetts banks with similar footprint and branch count such as Mountain One or Cornerstone. When I choose a local bank, I look at retail footprint, viability/longevity, community involvement and more. Country Bank ticked all the boxes. * Great mobile app. Dislikes: * April 2018 still no chip cards. They say they are "working on it". The plus side to this non-compliance is they can issue a debit card immediately at the branch. * 800 number is live answered by someone causally saying "how can i direct your call". A phone tree would be a quicker, easier and more professional way of getting your call to customer service. Its a little annoying. This Branch Location:: Likes: * Staff is very friendly. They suggest you help yourself to their keurig and have a seat etc. They were very friendly during the account opening process and did not pressure me with the usual up-sells. Dislikes: * Do they get robbed a lot? Everyone is behind glass - even in the account opening process. The parking lot entrance is one way but the entrance to the bank is on the opposite side of the entrance to the parking lot. Im not sure if this is for staff safety or customer safety because of where the drive thru lane is but its awkward.
