The negative reviews are a bummer to see, because I just had my cracked iPhone screen and lcd replaced on Sunday and had no problems: I dropped my phone off in person at 3 in the afternoon and picked it up 2 hours later. My guess is that those who have had negative experiences are people whose phones' damage is more extensive than mine was (i.e. it's not an easy or quick fix) and those who live far away and can't bring it in, in person. Based on the reviews here, I probably wouldn't have sent my phone in but because I live only an hour away, I decided to take a chance and drive it up. I wasn't able to find a more affordable repair anywhere else and I think the work done was quality, and it was certainly expedient. I did see that he had a LOT of work in front of him and I would say that, rather than assuming he's dishonest or scamming like reviews here suggest, he probably has taken on quite a bit more work than he can handle in a short period of time. Originally I wrote a 1 star review for this business because I sent in my water-damaged iPod, which they told me in an email they could repair, but didn't get back to me in 3 months. I tried calling and emailing a few times in those months with no response, so I emailed and showed them my Yelp review after which they were quick to correspond. They said they looked everywhere and never received it, though I used the courtesy postage paid slip they emailed for me to print and place on the package. To salvage my experience they attempted to send me a replacement iPod free of charge, and explained that they're very busy sometimes so it's hard to get back to people. As it stands I just filed an insurance claim to the post office, because I got a notice that I missed when they tried to deliver it once. I brought the notice to the post office, they searched for it and couldn't find it. So close -__- Wayne, who works for this business was sure to insure the package, so he emailed me the costs, article number, etc. As much as I hate to bash a small, local business, I'm concerned about the same thing happening to others. They did try to send me an iPod free of charge though, so I can't complain about that. The only thing I'd suggest is to not mail in your damaged iPod/iPhone, etc. read more

Update, i finally received my phone back and they do not work.. Save yourself time and money, you might aswell throw it away instead of sending it to them. 6 months and i still have yet to receive my phone back. I have tried numerous times to email and give both Wayne and Paul a call but to no response. I have tried all three number listed for the company, and only when i make up a name do they pick up their phones. They are on top of things and reply quickly to lure in new customers but will ignore and screen your calls once they have your money and phone. I spoke to Paul and he told me that it was Wayne's problem since Paul is a new member and has nothing to do with Wayne's previous business. This is ridiculous, Wayne told me he would have my phone fixed and returned within 2 weeks, it's been 6 months, over 15 emails sent to them, and even more phone calls and yet still no phone. DO NOT SEND YOUR PHONE TO THIS COMPANY. You might as well throw it away. read more

I am having the exact same experience as everyone else. I sent in my phone about 12/12/2011. Near the end of March of 2012 I was told via voicemail that my iPhone was not fixable. It is now 8/27/2012 and I have still not received my phone back. In fact, one of the few times I have actually gotten ahold of anyone on the phone, they said they can't find the phone and that it was marked in their system "to be shipped" but he wasn't sure where it was. He then said he would call me or email me back in about 30 minutes with an update, but that if they can't find it they would be able to send me a replacement phone with "similar damages". That was about a month ago. I will be contacting my lawyer soon to take them to small claims court so I can either get my phone back or be compensated fairly. It will be a hassle, but I strongly urge everyone else to do the same. read more

I had written a previous post and decided to delete it. I am from Oklahoma and know for a fact that NorthBay Electronics is an honest company. I had water damage to a 3 month old 3g iphone. No one in or around Oklahoma does repairs of this kind to iphones. I received my phone exactly one month from the day I sent it off. It did take longer than expected to get my phone back and we did call several times to check on the status of the phone. I know that NorthBay is swamped with phones repairs. I had a cracked screen on my iphone that I had been waiting to get repaired. I found North Bay Electronics guys on google and that weekend we were on our way up to Sonoma. They were easily accessable from 101 and drove around the back of the shopping center to their location. It was a simple office but was warmly received by Wayne. I did call the day before to make sure of their hours and ability to repair it then. I dropped off the phone, had lunch in Santa Rosa and came back an hour later and my phone was perfectly repaired. They were very professional and courteous. I found no implication for the negative reviews but everyone is entitled to their opinion. If my iphone needed more work, I would definately go back to North Bay Electronics. read more

Yeah, everyone knows it is really REALLY sucks without your phone. But since it is my second time in 3 months for dropping my phone in the toilet, I basically cannot blame anyone but myself... My lovely co-worker googled it and found info that I should put wet (and all nasty) iphone in the bag of rice, so I tried.. no sign of life after 4 full days, I decided to turn my phone in to NorthBay Electronics. I have no regret. I sent my iPhone 3G to NorthBay Electronics to repair water damage. I called them before I sent my phone in and they said they were getting so much business that it would take 3 - 5 days to fix my phone. In the end, they had my phone for an entire week (let's say 5 business days), and with the shipping time I was without my phone for 12 days. I sent the phone in via USPS Express Mail. Apparently no one was home the first time they tried to deliver it, so a day was lost there. I chose FedEx for the return shipment. The phone was shipped back to me via FedEx on a Friday. The price for the FedEx shipment was more than what I paid for overnight Express Mail, but it was only for the FedEx 2day shipping, so I didn't receive my phone until Monday, despite the fact that I'm only 3 hours away from them. They claimed the battery in my phone wasn't working as well as it should, which is plausible for damage such as this. It's also the kind of thing where they could claim the battery is bad, charge me for a replacement, and do nothing. So, I asked them to send me the old battery. When I got the phone back, the old battery wasn't included. Almost two months later, and after several emails to them and several promises from them, I still don't have the old battery, which makes me extremely suspicious. In the end, although they did actually fix my phone, I can't recommend them. Their customer service is poor, and their business practices are questionable. There are plenty of other companies that offer this service, some of them very well established. Take your business to one of these other companies. read more

Northbay Electronics has by far the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I sent my phone in on January 23 and just got it back today, March 16. It was nearly impossible to get a hold of Wayne, the man in charge of fixing iPhones, without incessant emails and voicemails (they NEVER answer their customer service extension, don't even bother calling). I spent countless days worrying whether or not this company (and Wayne) was legitimate. I don't think I have ever been as stressed in my life as I was in the past month. Also, I went without a phone for two months. SO, here's my advice: DON'T send your phone in unless you are prepared to be without it for around two months, give or take. DON'T send your phone in unless you get a loaner phone for the meantime. DON'T expect to be responded to in a timely (or complete) manner-- expect one line emails after you've sent about eight. DON'T expect them to be done with your phone in the time they say originally (he told me mine would be done in 7-10 days). DON'T expect to only pay the estimate he gives you at the beginning. I had to send in more money to replace an LCD (my phone had water damage). If you DO send your phone in: Be sure to be prepared for a month of stress and anxiety fueled by Wayne's unresponsive nature and claims of being busy (my phone was done for a solid week before he actually got it in the mail). I will say this: They did fix my phone with only a minor issue. There is a little discolored spot in the middle of my screen, which I assume happened when they replaced the LCD. It's not perfect, but it's cheaper than buying a new phone. All in all, I would look elsewhere for someone to fix your phone, unless you are from California, and can directly go to the store. I mailed my iPhone for water damage repair this week and have only been jerked around. I am very unhappy with their Customer Service and would definitely not recommend them. I received a call indicated that the water damage on my iPhone could not be repaired, I told them I just wanted my iPhone sent back and provided payment for that. Miraculously, the next day I received a call indicating that it was fixed and the only thing pending was the speaker (so it is not completely fixed). I indicated this was not authorized and I that I did not receive a quote first as agreed. They became very upset and even hung up the phone on me. I had to report them to the Better Business Bureaus and hope to receive my iPhone soon without the unauthorized charges. read more

When I did get in touch, said something else was wrong and that he would replace water sensors and return to me to send to Apple for repair under warranty. If I could describe my expirience with this company with one word I would use: upsetting. My mom sent them my IPod Touch to get the screen replaced and they told us that the turn around time would be 3 days. They had it for 2 weeks, which didn't really bother me. What bothered me was that when I finally got it back in the mail, the touch screen aspect(the only way to use the Ipod) did not work. I called customer service & was told to mail it back because "something might have become loose during shipping" and that I would be reimbursed for shipping, so we mailed it back. My mom called for an update on it & they told her that they put another screen on it & it still would not work & they don't know why it isn't working. They will be reimbursing us for the screen replacement, and nothing else, which is ridiculous because when I sent my Ipod to them in the very beginning, it worked perfectly! When my mom reminded them(I'm not sure who she was talking to) they told her that they would 'see what they can do' and that they would call her back in an hour. We haven't heard back. We are calling them again on Monday & when I have all this crap settled, I'll update this review. But for now, I suggest you BEWARE of this company. UPDATE We have been informed that they are sending me my old, broken Ipod back & that they are sending me a used Ipod Touch (same model as mine), which is fair, so I added another star. I hope that I never need this new-to-me-ipod's screen replaced, but if I do, I think I'm just going to take it straight to Apple & just pay the mroe expensive price because I do not want to go through this process again. UPDATE I recieved my not working Ipod & the used replacement Ipod in the mail today. I do feel a lot better now that this ordeal is over, and I'd like to give this company the benefit of the doubt. Maybe what happend with my Ipod was one of those freak accident things. Maybe. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED!! I sent to them a 4HR old brand new IPhone4 for a white conversion (witch was alot of money). It took almost 2weeks to get back (after they say 1day turn around time). It came back with dirt in the camera lens,and a line going through the screen. I then sent it back again they fixed camera, but screen still no good. I sent it back 3rd time and I just got it back and there is no flash. As well there customer service is very poor!! All features worked when my husband took iPhone in for screen replacement. When he picked it up, phone speaker wasn't working and LOTS of dust under new glass --and they charged us full price! I am very disappointed with this company. I sent my iphone in(water damage) on 11/28/08. They received it on 12/01/08. Here it is 11 days later and I have not received the phone or sent an email for tracking. They have not answered the phones there at all for the last 48 hours. I spoke to Wayne 3 days ago who said they were going to check it after cleaning and have heard zero since! I was expecting it to be mailed by now. They have had my phone for 8 business days now and I am growing agitated by the minute. I was also told there was a 3-5 day backlog, but this is getting ridiculous. Add: After finally receiving my phone after 21 days(!) it was still not fixed. I restored it myself after reading reports on google of peeps with the white screen of death. After reading countless bad reviews at this business i was honestly scared that my iphone was gone because i have already sent it after i read those bad reviews. They told me 2-3 business days is all it took but it did take a little longer but not much though. I would say it took about maybe a week longer at most but i did get my iphone back in working order. I called them a couple of times and didn't get an answer for 2-3 days but they finally called me back and told me it was sent out via fed ex. So now yea my phone is back with me here in Hawaii. I think if people have had bad business before i can say they should be rest assured the company is working hard to get better personal working on our products. PLEASE TAKE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS SERIOUSLY! I didn't, and I sorely regret it. I don't know if the positive reviews are from those that are just lucky, went in person to the place so the owner felt he had to face them if there was a delay, or are from this guy's friends. I am not accusing, I just don't know. I also don't believe it is relevant who's fault it is for the damage. Of course it is our fault. But it is not our fault that this business claims they can repair it, takes money to do so, doesn't tell you if it is irreparable and makes promises they KNOW they cannot keep over and over again. To help people understand what they may be in for if they chose to use this business, I have outlined what has happened to me below. Maybe by using exact quotes from emails from the owner, you can better judge for yourself if it is worth spending over $100 up front and then having to hassle with getting your phone back, repaired or not, for 4-5 months or more. I also want to say that his comments on the company's website do not exonerate him, but make it clear that he has been irresponsible in taking on more business than he can handle, especially given that the repairs are complicated and so forth. He is aware that you will be greatly inconvenienced, but remember, he is making money whether he works on your phone quickly, slowly or never. Buyer beware! I do not know if this business is a scam or for real. It is impossible to tell since I have not received anything from them, even though I paid them upfront along with sending them my iphone on 12/18/08. ( My iphone had gone through the laundry and had water damage; no screen damage). I had inquired ahead of time as to whether this could be fixed and was told yes, to pay upfront and send it. Below are exact quotes from emails "Wayne" sent me. He says he is the person who owns this business. I SENT MY PHONE ON 12/18/08. Here is the sequence of events since then: 1. I called twice to inquire about the phone on 1/20 and 1/21/09. He emailed me back: "Only thing left to do to your phone is finish the cleaning and then testing." He also wrote: "We are very busy and the holiday put us a few more days behind. While I was gone for the holiday we received 17 more phones and I am the only one working." I said ok and that was it. 2. I didn't hear anything back, so I emailed him on 2/3/09 to inquire. He told me: "So far your phone is unreponsive to our test . . . we should be able to narrow this down within the next few days." Fair enough. 3. On 2/4/09, the alternate phone I was using died so I emailed him asking him to let me know ASAP if it would be done soon. I explained to him that I am a doctor and have two young children with diabetes so I need to have a phone 24/7. I just wanted to know whether I would have to buy another phone or whether I would get the damaged one back imminently and could wait. 4. I did not hear anything from him, although I had also phoned him regarding this, so 5 days later I emailed him again. He responded: "We had to order a part for it . . . it should be in today." I accepted this as the truth. 5. On 2/12, the following day, he emailed me with this: "We are shipping it out today." 6. On 2/20, I emailed him asking did he ship it because I had not received it. He emailed me back only after I emailed him AGAIN on 3/5, telling him that I was not comfortable with the delay and asked for my phone (not repaired was okay) and my money back, minus shipping charges. He responded immediately: "Ok we will get it out. Sorry for the delay." 7. I hadn't heard anything by 3/12, so I emailed him again asking him to let me know when it was being sent. I also told him that I would have to buy a new one within the next week if I didn't get it back. 8. 3/18 I wrote him an email since I hadn't heard from him and told him again I wanted the phone and my money back and did not need to hear excuses or why it had taken so long. I just didn't want to deal with him or the company any more. He responded right away (the patten with him is that he responds right away if you say you are done with it or want your money back, but if you are understanding and nice he ignores you): "We were moving into a larger location and have been trying to get back up and running the last few weeks. I will send you the tracking info as soon as I get it." 9. I told him I could not keep waiting and that my plan was to buy a new iphone so I didn't need that one repaired anyway. I told him he had never said he had actually sent it and that I was done with the whole thing. He wrote back: "I will be in the office tomorrow. I'll make sure it goes out." 10. Today is April 3rd. I have had no response from him. I read the message on his website stating how busy they are, how complicated repairs and iphones are and so on and so on. JUDGE FOR YOURSELF. read more

Scott from Texas here and sent my Ipad in for repair 10 days ago with the prepaid postage print from their website, hand delivered to the USPS man myself and still the Ipad is no where to be found? I dont believe USPS would lose many packages since I never had a problem in the past. I have had issues with getting replies to my phone calls and emails. Even if you have my Ipad I want my refund and I would advise if you offer shipping to clients you offer a secure shipping that would include tracking as I should have done this myself since I do not know what company this is going to and from the reviews it makes me nervous to think where my Ipad really is. I do not enjoy giving poor reviews but this sums up my experience in a nutshell: Guy from Sprint in Santa Rosa recommended them, I dropped off phone with cracked screen, said he needed to order the screen and needed a deposit so he was not stuck with a screen he did not need. Gave him $40 CASH. That was Friday. MOnday screen is in, Great! Bring in phone and they said the screen they ordered was defective so they had to order a new one. 10 days later after me checking in with them, still no response. Then 2 weeks later I called to ask for my money back, and had to drive to Rohnert park for the 3rd time from Sebastopol. He wrote me a check for my deposit in which I had given him cash which he must have spent. I then had to deposit the check, thankfully it cleared. I wasted a lot of time on that experience and he seemed to not care when I expressed how long it seemed to be taken. I agree with the Not so Urgent care comment from another reviewer. Customer service is so important to me and this was not a good experience and my phone still has a cracked screen. read more

This business has had my phone for the last six weeks and will not respond to my emails and phone calls. I continue to ask for updates and rarely get a response. The only responses I have received were to tell me they were not finished yet and not provide any estimate of return date. It is absolutely ridiculous that it would take them 6 weeks to repair my iphone not to mention the horrible customer service I have received. I would not recommend you use this service unless you don't really want to get your phone fixed. It is very difficult to function without and phone and a business providing this type of service should provide a quick turnaround. Please do not waste your time or money dealing with this company. Anyone who has dropped their iPhone into a pool of water (a/k/a the toilet) knows that NOTHING works to fix it yourself!!! So, I was SOOO relieved when the guys at NorthBay were able to fix my phone. At first, there were some issues with lack of communication, but after just one complaint, they always returned my calls and emails. They have even hired new/more staff to keep up with their popularity and to better communicate with their customers. When my phone was first returned to me, everything worked except I couldn't hear anything when making a phone call. I returned it to NorthBay and they fixed it and returned it to me all the way back to NJ in only 4 days AND for NO CHARGE!!!! NOW THAT IS "CLASS A" SERVICE!!! They may have had some "customer care issues" a while ago, but I think they have learned from that and definitely do NOT deserve to be called scammers!! Thanks for working so hard guys!! p.s. I live in NY and iPhone Urgent Care is in CA. I sent off my iPhone and they received it 2 days later. I called a week later to see how things were going and learned they were waiting for parts from Apple. (I understand that Apple USA does not have parts for iPhone but you can get them from China). I wondered aloud why they wouldn't stock all the parts necessary for various models of iPhone. They told me to check back in a week which I did and they had Columbus Day off. I decided then and there that 2 weeks without it being fixed was too long and left a voice mail message to return the phone immediately and I sent an email asking same. I was professional and polite, just saying that I really couldn't go longer without a cell phone. I received it back very promptly and I offered to pay return postage and reasonable charges. They charged me $15.00. Priority Mail cost $4.80. I was very happy to get it back and having made an appt in advance at the genius bar in NYC Apple's 5th avenue store I gladly paid the $199.00 water damage replacement fee. I got a brand new iPhone they activated it and I was out of the store in 10 minutes. So if you have to ship it and wait, they are likely too busy for fast turnaround. I'm happy that Apple has the water damage policy for all water damaged iPhones. Water damage is responsible for 80% of iPhone repairs. Mine happened in the holster when I got caught in the rain. You have to balance the minimum charge of $125.00 and waiting at NorthBay against the instant receipt of iPhone at Apple for $199.00. they both have a 90 day warranty. As important as saving $75.00 was for me, I also wanted to avoid having my damage iPhone thrown into a landfill which is why I gave NorthBay a try. read more

Background: My iPhone 3GS had water damage so I shipped it to iPhone Urgent Care from Palo Alto, CA to Rohnert Park, CA (80 miles away). I purchased water damage repair service online for $67. PROBLEM 1: Their website says, "Within 24 hours of receipt, your iPhone technician will contact you with your diagnosis". That's why after an entire week I was surprised that they hadn't attempted to contact me. My iPhone couldn't have taken more than a few days to ship 80 miles north, so I decided to reach out to them myself. However, I didn't receive a response until I sent them a second email in which a staff member told me a technician would contact me by the following Monday. After having not received a phone call from the technician on Monday, I called the office an hour before closing to inquire about the status of my iPhone. I was immediately put on hold for 5 minutes and thought something had gone wrong, so I hung up and called back. After 4 tries over the course of 20 minutes, no one picked up the phone even though I knew someone was working (because they had previously answered and put me on hold) during their business hours. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE WAS NOT BUSY. SOMEONE WAS DELIBERATELY CHOOSING TO IGNORE MY CALLS. With no idea of how to contact the company because they weren't following up with me via email or phone, I decided to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Northern California. PROBLEM 2: My repaired iPhone took 3 WEEKS to get back to me. While I understand that water damage repair can take AT MOST several extra days, 3 weeks is a completely unacceptable time frame as they weren't responding to my emails and calls about the status of my iPhone. It is even more ludicrous when you consider that all of the additional charges they tacked on for repair amounted to a TOTAL OF $180! PROBLEM 3: When I received my "repaired" iPhone, I quickly noticed that it WASN'T HOLDING A CHARGE. I tried different USB cords, different USB ports in computers, and different wall outlets to determine that it was the charging port that was broken on my iPhone. I called iPhone Urgent Care and SHIPPED BACK MY $180 "REPAIRED" IPHONE. PROBLEM 4: Two weeks later I received my iPhone 3GS after it's second repair. I finally thought it was completely fixed when I noticed during a call that the EAR SPEAKER WASN'T WORKING! Headphones and the speaker call option are the only ways that I can use the phone function of my iPhone. I was prepared to SHIP IT BACK FOR THE 3RD TIME, however, they never responded to my emails or phone calls. END RESULT: Eventually I became too stressed and tired to deal with iPhone Urgent Care anymore. Overall, their very poor customer service and questionable repairs left me with a $180 BILL, 6 WEEKS OF STRESS, & AN IPHONE THAT STILL DOESN'T WORK DESPITE THEIR SERVICE GUARANTEE! read more

NorthBay Electronics received my water damaged iPhone on January 24th. My phone fell to the bottom of a nine foot deep swimming pool and was submerged for close to five minutes. After much devastation and research, I found NorthBay. There were almost no other choices, especially not in the western United States. Even though I had read many of the reviews, I figured I really had nothing to lose, so I sent my phone. Today I am holding my fully functioning iPhone in my hands. I truly cannot believe it. I am so incredibly grateful that I was able to save so much money by just being patient. Wayne did what he said he would do, even if it did take significantly longer than I was originally told. These guys can fix your phone. The downside is, the timeline. If you are willing to be without your phone for possibly two months or more, then send it in to them. If not, don't send it. Their communication definitely can be improved and their time estimates are not great at all. Had they told me up front that it would take two plus months, I would have still sent my phone. It would, however, have saved me the trouble of buying and then returning a temporary replacement phone within AT&T's 30 day time frame. It would also have saved me and NorthBay the wasted time of follow-up phone calls and emails. All that aside, though, my phone is fixed and fully functioning. To me, that is the ultimate bottom line. Will I recommend these guys? Absolutely. Will I forewarn people of the potential time and frustration? Certainly. If you want your phone fixed for an incredibly reasonable price, then settle in, wait it out and give these guys a chance. If you don't want to wait possibly a couple of months or more, then dish out the $500 or $600 to AT&T or Apple to replace your iPhone at full price. Hopefully their move to a larger facility will help. In the mean time, good luck with your phone. I, for one, am ultimately a happy camper!!! read more

I sent in a water damaged IPhone 4 that was shutting itself off and would not charge. I received a call just a couple of days after they received my phone to let me know that it had been repaired. They replaced the charging port and battery (I was told). It only took about a week I thought that was awesome even though it cost $154 (that was more than I gave for my phone). I got my phone back and started using it. It started shutting itself down again and I was having problems with the speakers. I called them and explained the problem they apologized for the inconvenience and said send it back and they would take care of it for no extra cost to me. I called to check on the phone they said they replaced the charging port again and my phone was being sent back to me. I was told I would be called with a tracking #, I waited a couple of days nothing so I call them they don't have one. My phone was supposed to be here by today at the latest it's not and I have no way to find out where it is. The post office said to call them if its not here by Friday for a postal investigation. In December 2011 I mailed an Iphone 3 to Northbay Electronics/Iphone Urgent Care with a letter stating that the phone would not hold a charge, otherwise in perfect working order with all functions. The phone was jail broken for use on T-Mobile. During my discussions with Paul Williams and Wayne I was told that they could not find anything wrong with the phone, but was charged $69.and I would have to pay $25 to have it jail broken again. When I received the phone it did not work in any manner. during discussions with Paul Williams, he stated that the phone was working when shipped and rudely stated that I had apparently done something to the phone. I subsequently sent the phone back a second time and it was returned to me priority mail and still not working. Wayne insisted that the phone was working and I needed to be taken to AT&T. I tolk the phone to AT&T and they could not get the phone to work. After many testy discussionw sith Wayne and an agreement that they would fix the phone, I t=returned the phone on February 24, 2012 they received it on February 27, 2012. As of this date the phone has not been returned, e-mails and phone messages are not returned and there is no response at 888-0-990-7555. Does anyone know whether they are still in business. horrible. phone had very light water damage, they said it could be repaired for 49 dollars and its a two day return, well one month later, after numerous emails and phone calls with no replies, i finally got ahold of someone. said it would cost 118 dollars, and I just wanted my phone back. Got the phone back worked for one day and hasnt turned on sense and that was June 18th. would not recommend for anyone to send their phone off to this place.. The only reason I wanted the phone back was because my brother just passed away unexpectedly and all his voicemails are on that phone only. read more
