I am a neighboring business and I have attempted 3x to do work with North Town. Unfortunately, the reviews are accurate that the woman in front is awful. I tried stopping in and was told they don't accept walk-ins and that I had to make an appointment. So I made an appointment and when I came back at that time, she told me they don't service tires or have capacity for oil changes. WHY did I make an appointment then? I came in person again years later to inquire about service and again was informed TO MY FACE that they have enough customers. My jaw dropped and I told her I will never try again and walked out as she was raising her voice at me that I didn't give them a chance. Bewildering. read more

Gone are the days when Mr. Lee used to run the garage flawlessly. His brother runs the business now and is nowhere near as competent or friendly. But the worst part is the awful woman, Theresa, who sits at the front desk. I've never met someone so rude and disrespectful. I went to this location for an estimate on a water pump. My car had broken down in our condo parking lot and could not be driven. They said they do not give estimates unless they see the car. I told them it would have to be towed to look at. They asked me if I was a current customer and I said no but I drive by their location and figured I would try them next time I needed repairs which was now. Their response was that they have enough regular customers and are not looking for new business. I will never go to this auto repair for anything and would advise others to stay away from a business like this!!! read more

I stopped at the shop because I had a question about a sound coming from my car . I was wondering if they could possibly fix it in a week . The front desk women said the mechanics are very busy and can not look at it. She said they are booked out for the next 2 days. I said I get it and I was just wondering if i could talk to the owner. You won't find a more honest mechanic than Mr Lee. I've brought my car in when hearing a weird noise and he found a rock embedded somewhere and didn't even charge me. He always looks for the most cost effective solution and his prices are downright cheap compared to other mechanics. My family has used him for years and taken both newer and older cars to him. He does get busy and sometimes won't be able to get to your car for a couple days. But once you've used him, you'll understand why he has built up such a loyal following. I really wanted to like this local mechanic, but from my three or four experiences there, I found the customer service non-existent, communication poor, and ability lacking. Based on other reviews, I brought two vehicles to Mr. Lee. I won't torture you with the details of both, just the big picture. For starters, he is not friendly and his accent is so strong I could barely understand what he is saying. On my first visit I simply needed a front headlight fixed. He required that I leave the car there to get an estimate. I did and never heard back from him. Two days later I returned and he gave me an estimate. My second car, a Honda Odyssey with 170,000 miles, failed the emissions test. When I showed Mr. Lee, he said he had never seen these codes before and again asked me to leave the vehicle. I asked him if was capable of figuring this out since it is a complex engine. He scoffed at me and told me he's been working on BMW's for 20 years. Again, radio silence for days. Knowing I'd never understand him by phone, I returned to his shop. He told me it was an $1,800 engine block issue. I decided to bring it to the dealer for a second opinion. Honda charged me $150 for the diagnosis, well worth every penny. Honda could fix the CO2 sensor for $300 and that would solve the problem. On top of that, there were other issues they discovered that needed repair, some critical, others I'll need to address. None of these other issues were discovered by Mr. Lee. Had I allowed Mr. Lee to do the repairs, I would have spent almost $2,000 and not addressed the problem. There are two positive things I can say about him. I do get the sense that he's honest and probably capable of less sophisticated repairs. Second, he's conveniently located. In short, if you need your oil changed or brakes replaced, I'm sure he does great work. If you have a more challenging issue, you may want to get a second opinion. Update: I subsequently had my car repaired at Honda and it then passed the omissions test. read more

We have been going to Mr Lee forever. He always does great work, fast and always excellent prices. He works on our whole family's cars. Newer older foreign or domestic he just gets the job done. Didn't even have service here but the customer service is horrible. The first question she asked me was whether or not I was a current customer and when I said no she seemed to be not interested in my question. I was asking about a simple headlight service and she proceeded to tell me she could only do that on current customers. I've been taking my car to Mr. Lee for twenty years and am so grateful for his help in maintaining three cars (Nissan, Acura, Lexus) and I can always rely on him for quality work and really reasonable prices. His shop is always packed with return customers and he offers pragmatic advice when you have to do a major repair, and also lets you know about potential repairs that you will need to make in the near future (ie replacing tires). I was very impressed- I called dealership and was told 30,000 mile service on my Prius would cost about $200. Called Mr Lee who said over the phone that it could cost $100. When car was finished, the bill was $28!! Mr Lee said everything checked out well- only needed oil change -- didn't need air filter, cabin filter, etc. I'm hooked- like others have said- Mr Lee is a very honest businessman- I'll be back for future service! read more

I came back here specifically to leave another positive review for the level of service I received from this business. I have always been nervous about taking my car into any auto shop for repair, being a woman, because I have had experiences in the past where I feel I was taken advantage of because of my lack of knowledge about cars. Once again, the store owner and his receptionist went above and beyond my expectations to help me. I thought I was going to have to purchase an entire new AC unit for my truck, but instead they repaired it without me needing to spend all of that money. He could have fooled me into thinking I needed something more, and overcharged me and I wouldn't know better, but instead he saved me money. Also, his receptionist was very helpful and willing to assist me to get my car back before they closed for the evening, so I would not be without a car another night. 5 star rating and I will most definitely continue to be a customer here. read more

Mr. Lee and his guys are honest and do great work for much less than the dealership or other shops. Here's an example... I went to the dealer for a warrantee repair and the manager there tells me to please get my brakes down soon because there is hardly any break pad left. I take it to Mr. Lee and he looks it over and tells me they're fine and that I've actually got at least another six months on them. No emergency. No attempt to con you into service you don't need through scare tactics. Just honest advice. What other shop would tell you that you don't need a brake job when you come in asking about one? No Way! I asked Mr. Lee to see why I was hearing noise from my tires. I have a Kia Sorrento and was concerned it could be an axle problem. After having my car all day and not looking at it until late afternoon, he advised me to take it to Firestone. He said I have bad tires and need an alignment. When I took my truck for the alignment about a week later, The truck was up on the lift and the mechanic showed me the bad axle and how the wheel bearing was going bad. Mr. Lee clearly never put my truck up on the lift to examine my truck as I asked him to. Had I kept driving my truck without knowing about the axle, it could have been fatal. I just cant believe the negligence on his part. read more

North Town Auto and Mr Lee, the owner and his crew are top notch mechanics. We bring all our cars to him. He is completely honest and fair. His level of knowledge is deep and he gets things done right the first time. We've been going to Mr Lee since 2007, never had an issue. One example: We had an older Toyota Sienna and the transmission was failing. The dealer wanted $3800 to replace with an overhauled unit. I went to Mr Lee and he did it for $1800 with a 2 year warranty and it worked perfectly for the next 6 years until we sold the car. He kept that 16 year old Sienna running like new. The most honest mechanic in the area, as evidenced by a parking lot full of cars. I came here thinking I needed to have all of my rotors replaced after another brake specialty shop told me I needed to. This would've cost me 1200 bucks. Conversely, the owner of North Town, Mr. Kim, said this wasn't true and changed me 250 bucks to have my rotors shaved and to have a couple of brake shoes installed. I've been here at least half a dozen of times and never had to pay more than 15 bucks to a couple hundred dollars for larger repairs. I'd recommend this place to anyone. read more
