I've taken my mustang to many different shops to get aligned but they all said rears aren't adjustable which isn't true because there's some camber adjustment to it from factory. But after speaking with the tech at Thalmann, he knew exactly what I was talking about and was able to make my car in specs again. I'll definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs an alignment. I am very happy with the result. I thought it was bit pricy but well worth the money for their skills and knowledge on cars! Took my 2015 Toyota Camry to Thalmann's for an alignment. My car was pulling hard to the right side. They hooked it up to their machine and told me the right front tire was really worn out, but the car was in alignment. I was only charged $40.00 for the analysis. They told me I needed new tiRes at least for the front. I appreciate their honesty. I would go there again in a heartbeat. I just purchased a used Toyota Camry w/144k miles. The car was in impeccable condition and maintained like a baby, according to records. I took it to a Toyota dealer for an oil change and they said I needed new control arms at a cost of $1700!! I then got a second opinion at Car-X and they told me the same thing, but quoted me $1300. Well, I went to Thalman, who specializes in suspensions, and they were very honest. Justin, the person who looked at my car, said the control arms were totally fine and did not need replacing. He did say that if they did, it might be around $600 to do, which is less than half my cheapest prior quote. I'm bringing all my suspension and brake issues to Thalman from now on. It took a week to get an appointment, but that's ordinarily a good sign that a business is capable and healthy. Thanks Justin!! You saved me $$$$$! From now on if I have a suspension or alignment issue, or need tires installed this is the only shop I'll use. They were direct and didn't try to sell me on any BS. You do need to setup an appointment way in advance but you'll understand why after using them. My story; On my Tahoe I have a set of Goodyear tires with an 80,000 mile tread warranty that were starting to shake on the highway. Since I had bought them at Just Tires in Deerfield, I brought it back so they could check them. Just Tires rebalanced all four and said they were fine. Immediately I could tell that they were not fine!! So two weeks later Thalmann's used their Road Force Balancing machine (=SCIENCE) and found that two of my tires were faulty!! Based on their recommendations I now have a new set of tires (not Goodyears, never again) and my truck drives perfectly after an alignment. In the future; DON'T buy Goodyears!! DON'T use Just Tires!! USE Thalmann's and be glad you have a shop like this in your backyard. read more

I've been using Thalmann 's alignment for the past 10 years or more, anyway, well ahead of yelp and any other internet reviews sites . So I decided to sign into Yelp and write a review while I waited for my car. These guys know what they are doing . They always inspect your front end suspension elements prior to doing the alignment and advise you if you need to change anything prior to the alignment , so you don't spent the $ on alignment for no reason . I saw a user complaining about the fact that they don't accept credit cards. I think when you use a mechanic ( and especially for steering alignment) you have to look at his expertise and the shop over all , not the method of payments accepted . The shop was super clean and I'm very satisfied with all the aspects of my visit here . That is the reason I'm giving 5 stars and will continue to use them in the future . I am a fan - this was a smooth experience: fast, professional, reasonable priced, and done right. The tires were installed and aligned perfectly, with none of the usual screw ups you get at the chain places. Get your tires at Tire Rack and send them here to be installed. My car was taken here by my shop and by all accounts, all picky mechanics try to bring their cars here for alignments. While shopping for tires, several other salesman pointed me in this direction (I'd also just replaced the suspension). Quick story: I took my car in twice to a local chain store to get an alignment, after having them install the tires I purchased from Tire Rack. They could never get the steering straight. Very good experience. Took my Subaru Outback for a wheel alignment after buying new tires. Appointment at 10 took me in a little before 10. They had to make a minor adjustment and I was out by 10:25. Very fair in pricing . Good experience. I will go back. read more

Went there with an appointment for an alignment they "finished" it in 5 min charged me $80 and then told me that i need something else done, but i need to come some other time because they don't have other appointments. Recommended from a member of local VW community. By appointment only, which I like. I got there early and they were able to get my alignment done quickly and correct. Tech was nice enough to check some nuts and bolts, while he had the car in the air, recently installed lowering springs. Shop is clean and looks well organized. Met the owner briefly, nice person and his tech was easy to talk to as well. Car drove perfect on the local roads and highway. Steering wheel also is straight, which VWs can be a pain to align properly for some shops. Why 4 out of 5 stars? Only cash and checks. This can be a problem for people who don't like to carry cash, like me :) But decided it was worth still going to this place, based on its reputation amongst the racing/enthusiast community. Their hours are also only M-F. So if you work from 9-5, might be a bit tough. But I rather come to work later, than having to deal with multiple visits to shop for bad alignment and waste a weekend. Their alignment setup is also "low" friendly. So they won't have to put it on blocks, to get it on the rig, if you're too low. Also, don't be like me and forget to ask for before/after alignment specs. Available upon request. I was used to Firestone providing one without asking. Guys here are courteous & professional and do excellent jobs. I recently got an alignment done here but after a visit to a dealer for routine services, I was told that I need an alignment. Hmm... So I called Thalmann and was kindly told to bring car back so I did. Found out the measurements weren't even really off and it's apparent that my dealer just wanted to take some $ from me. Just had my 71 olds cutlass done and Justin spent the time to review what was needed for rebuilding the front end. He also recommended new wheels and tires to a 15" so next year hopefully I can get a power brake kit installed by him. The car rides unbelieveable and the new wheels and tires make it look awesome. Make sure to take cash or a checkbook, they don't accept credits cards. For the service and price I don't mind that don't accept credit cards. They give you the discount on the back end. If you want your alignment done the right way and perfected, this IS THE PLACE TO GO! I had some Mopar lowering springs installed on my Jeep SRT by a dealership and the alignment was off. Dealerships insist on doing the alignment right after install. Don't waste your money with their alignment. Go to Thalmann Alignment! After letting my springs settle I went to another dealership twice because my alignment was still off and both times I left with a non centered steering wheel and the alignment still out of spec. Then I googled "Best Alignment Shop in Illinois". Thalmann Alignment should be No. 1 on Google. Called and explained my situation to them and made my appointment. Best decision I ever made. I can say my Jeep SRT rides better than ever. The alignment is perfect. Steering wheel is centered and the handling now is AMAZING! These guys are the best when you have a difficult alignment, suspension or steering problem. The adjusters on my '09 Toyota Camry were "frozen" due to rust. Apparently, this problem is quite common on Toyota products. One repair shop said that it would cost me about $1,000 or more to replace the rusted adjusters and other associated hardware so that the car could be aligned. Thalmann's made the adjustments without replacing any parts in just 40 minutes, and for only $80. They saved me a ton of money and I couldn't be more ecstatic. The only negative? Thalmann's doesn't accept plastic, so you need to bring your checkbook with you. But this minor inconvenience did not stop me from giving them 5 stars. read more
