They told me they replaced a VVT valve. 1 hour after picking up, the same issue came back VSA light on causing my vehicle to automatically brake while driving. Replaced for a second time. Again issue returned. Brought to another shop and told me the Whips did NOT replace the VVT valve as they stated and I paid for!! Plus what they did put in was missing a second part. Very disappointed and a big hassle. They did refund me which was good. read more

Total Heros, My wife has the nice car and today it's battery died. She tried to jump it - no luck. Concert tonight at the high school (of course) so compressed for time I called Whips. Gentleman named Sam answered, I explained the situation and that I had been a customer for a long time. They told me they'd get to my wife and car in 45 minutes. 10 minutes later she texts me - they were already there and got it started. She followed them to the shop. They tested everything they could, appears to be the battery. The battery is less then retail and the whole thing was reasonable. Under $300! Best shop ever. My dad has been coming here a long time, and I started coming a while ago as well. I come all the way from Chicago for him! His prices are very reasonable. I have been to many different shops. Most of them try to add things on or say things are necessary RIGHT NOW that aren't to try to get me to spend money. As a young single mom, I'm happy that I have a shop that tells me what my car needs and what it doesn't. I had an issue with my front brake caliper being stuck closed. I was quoted 850 for a front brake job at CarX which I felt was I over priced and out of my budget. Called Whips, was quoted a price on the phone of 550, which was right on target after bringing it in. With tax and all it came to 570. They were super nice, did not charge me for anything or try to sell me I didn't need and was quick to get it repaired. I would definitely go back with my future car needs. read more

A great reputable Greek family owned and operated Automotive Shop. The owner is a H1 Hummer Guru (to bad they do not make them anymore for civilian use). The best part is they are pro-military and give a military discount. Great honest people who are not going to rip you off. I had a problem with my windshield washer. I replaced the pump, cleared the lines, and looked at the fuses...nothing. I had two mechanics look at it (including a Marine Mechanic friend)...no one could figure it out. In less than an hour they found the relay needed to be cleaned and "vundabra" it works now. They did this just before they closed in under an hour. What a great place that that has been in business for over 35 years. Now I found a good professional automotive shop that I can trust. This is coming from mechanically inclined professional. I have done most of the work on my car and my family's and friends vehicles (foreign and domestic) myself. I have taught myself but when I'm stuck I always consult a professional mechanic usually friends I know. I just moved to the area and its great to find a good mechanic so soon. I have only come in here for regular oil changes. They are always very nice and fair priced. They don't try to sneak in hidden charges like other places have done to me. If they do find something else on the vehicle that may need fixed, they won't push you to have it done that day. I will continue to come back here if I run into other issues with my vehicle. read more

I was referred here by a customer of mine that used to sell Mac Tools to mechanics all over Chicagoland. I asked him to refer me to a place close to where I live and he told me to go see Lefty at Whips. I did so and I'm glad that I did. Lefty and his son have fixed all of my automotive problems for the last couple of years now. I sold my 2003 and now lease two 2016's so I haven't been in for a few months. Still this is my mechanic and I completely trust these guys to get the job done at a fair price. I plan on going in soon to have some remote starts installed on both of the new cars. Being a girl I'm always defensive when it comes to cars and mechanics. It always seems like mechanics are trying to rip you off in any way they can but not Whips! Their pricing is fair and reasonable compared to others. They are my go to mechanics even when I have no idea what's wrong with my car. They always find the root of the problem quick. They also take the time to explain and answer any questions that you may have. Oh and they have the such an awesome collection of miniature cars that you can look at in the waiting area. They are a really friendly, honest group of guys. Pete (the son with the black spiked hair) is probably the friendliest, most helpful mechanic I've ever had. They also get your car in quick and have it back to you ASAP. They also are very quick to take responsibility if they need to re-do a job. They are a bit specialized with Hummers so I've seen them have a tougher time diagnose issues with my Honda then other places, but in the end they do the job right. Bottom line though they are honest in their assessment of your car and you don't have to worry about being ripped off. read more

Shop told me my car was fixed and it was not. I took it back and they refused to fix my car the right way. They were very mean to myself and were screaming and swearing in front of little children.
