I found them very helpful and professional. They quickly found the problem with my car and quickly performed the needed service. Their staff was excellent in taking care of the problem. I went back to get an oil change here because of the great service I received last year. Unfortunately, the service I received was horrible and have lost trust in this place. Went in on a Friday afternoon for a scheduled oil change and was there for 2.5 hours! I was told that my car was done so I paid for the oil change. Side note: I was told AFTER I tapped my credit card that there would be a 3% fee. I asked if I could use my debit card instead. There was an option to select Yes or No to the fee so the lady behind the counter clicked No and said the charge still went through. What is the point of having this option??!! Irritating and somewhat shady. Back to the story: The lady saw me get ready to go and did say that my car would be another 10 minutes because they had taken it to drive around the block. Fine. I waited and waited and my car still wasn't ready and no one was available behind the counter to ask. Luckily another man came out to help another customer and I asked him about my car which he automatically brushed me off with a response "yeah it's coming out." But still no car. Another man came out to help another customer and I asked him if he could check the status of my car which I got an annoyed look from him with no response except he just walked to the back and asked about my car. Seriously?! No one else came back out but I heard someone yell "it's coming out right now" and when I looked outside, my car was being driven out of the garage. The man driving my car apologized and explained that the lady should have communicated better and told me that they were still performing tests which took longer than she told me. "Performing more tests", "driving it around the block"...generic excuses thrown at me while not being told exactly what the real status of my car was, all the while behind an enclosed garage with no visibility to what they were actually doing with my car. I don't like being treated like this especially because I didn't see them treating anyone other customers like this. Like the other bad reviews on here and Google, the service you get here is hit or miss. You might save some money on a couple of things but just think if it's really worth it including the time you lose. For me, it's not worth being treated like this and not being able to trust the level of service I'll be getting. read more

Wheeling Auto did not perform the work I specifically asked for, yet still charged me $167 for an engine scan -- something that can be done for free at AutoZone. There was no manager on duty, and the service advisor did not want to take any ownership of the situation or offer a resolution. Very frustrating experience and a complete waste of money. I want to give a shout out to Wheeling Auto Center... we've been customers for 10+ years and we've always known that they are honest and reliable. But today, they saved us $3600! Our son took his car to an auto repair shop in Evanston, and was told he needed almost $4000 in repairs. I brought his car to Wheeling Auto today, and after they did their own inspection, they figured out that the majority of the estimate was unnecessary. It just needed some fluid changes and power steering service. Yesenia (one of the service managers) is AMAZING! And Adam (one of the service techs) is top notch. This was delayed twenty minutes because an eighteen wheeler was blocking my car from being serviced. During the oil change, the mechanic found some problems that needed more attention. The service representative explained what was needed and what my options were. I was given the prices before any work was done. I really appreciate the care they took with my car. Finally found an auto repair place I can TRUST. I discovered them when the dealership told me I needed an expensive repair. Went to them for a second opinion - it's been a couple of years, and I still don't need that repair. All the employees at Wheeling are super friendly, accomodating and professional. The person I spoke with was very knowledgeable and helpful. I am partially disabled, and they were kind enough to bring my vehicle to me as I was having trouble getting to the shop to pick it up when the repairs were completed. Horrible communication and concerning dishonesty. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and I hope the carvana people see this and pick a different shop. it's long-My wife and I dropped her car off in the morning at 8 AM to have the brakes inspected because they were making a noise. Knowing how long a break job diagnosis should take, I told her to give them a call around 2 PM and ask them what the results would be.. they still didn't look at the vehicle yet but told us that they were busy and they were getting ready to look at it now and that they would call back shortly.(wife's first phone call with idk who) No problem. Well a couple more hours pass and I'm on my way home from work talking to my wife and asking her what the car situation was. Mind you she dropped the car off at 8AM and it's now 8 hrs later and still no update. Still not that big of a problem, you're busy. But you close in 1.5 hours and it would be nice to know if were getting the car back today or what the problem was. reasonable thing to want to know when we've had plenty of brake diagnosis and replacement done in less than six hours at the shops by our old house. Anyway, now for a little context to my next phone call with wheeling auto: this all happened in one night(the prior night to taking the car in) and my wife who is a nurse came home at 9PM and told me what was happening with her car. To me, someone that's been raised around mechanics, it was described much worse. (than it ended up being) So, I said let me take it for a spin before I go to bed so I can hear and see for my self, but because of my health condition she insisted that I stay in bed and she would take it to the shop in the morning. I told her that was fine, just tell them you want the breaks and wheel bearings looked at when you make the appointment . this was because from what she described to me it sounded like it could have been either. Obviously if I was able to drive it my self I would have a known it was the breaks. So that brings us to my phone call with wheeling auto(Jessenia): i call to see what the update is because now my wife is a little frustrated that they still haven't told us what was going on, no call. I politely ask for an update. she says that she will go ask her mechanic right now. Well she comes back and says the car is on the lift and if I wait a second they will be able to tell me what the issue is. no problem. While we're waiting I mention that I thought it could possibley be the wheel bearings based off what my wife described to me. thinking that maybe that's why it was taking so long to get a diagnosis for BREAKS If that wasn't even the issue. spoiler alert I was wrong. BUT JESS, on the other hand says, "oh really, yeah, cause when I talked to my mechanic he said he drove it and he didn't hear anything wrong with the breaks when he drove it." So I said "oh he drove it and didn't hear anything, that's weird? That's probably why its taking long than." She replied with a yeah and proceeded to say well I can just call you back when they figure it out, it shouldn't be longer than 15 min. Okay thats fine give me a call back. Now it's an hour and they close in 30 min. I CALL them again and talk to (maurice) I tell him I know it wasn't you but I talked to jess about an hour ago and she said that you guys would give me a call back in 15 with an update and now it's been an hour and you guys are closing. A little frustrated at this point. He says , "we just put your car on the lift and that IT IS THE BREAKS. That it was metal to metal and they needed to replace pads and rotors. SO NOT ONLY DID THEY JUST BS ME ANF MY WIFE THE WHOLE DAY AND LIED ABOUT TEST DRIVING IT AND LOOKING AT IT. BUT THEY ALSO ARE NOW KEEPING THE CAR OVER NIGHT FOR A BREAK SERVICE. They offer us 100 off break special to make up for it and and say that they will "prioritize" the vehicle to get done first thing in the morning. what ever, at this point we'll take the 100 off only if you guarantee it will be done first thing in the morning. now my wife is mad because she didn't expect to have her car gone for that long and doesn't feel comfortable going in alone because they took advantage of her lack of knowledge of vehicles once already. So the next day comes and at this point, my wife is already going to wait for me to get out of work to go with her to pick it up, which was later in the afternoon. so as long as I got a phone call by the time I got out of work to get an update about the car be ready, I would have been fine. BUT NOPE ANOTHER 8 HOURS ROLLS BY THE NEXT DAY AND NOTHING! So on my wat home from work i call and to my suprise he says they are actually finishing it now and giving it a wash. They wash like kids clean. but anyways the car was just ready when it needed to be BUT NOT WHEN PROMISSED! terrible experience and would not recommend to anyone. Theyre are cheaper and more honest and reliable shops all over. We just got unlucky trusting a new shop near our new home. read more

TL:DR - suspicious recommended repairs - Dealership prices - Long turnaround time - No warranty on wheel alignment Full Story Been going to Wheeling Auto consistently for my auto repairs over the last maybe 3 years. Took in my 2012 Sentra for an oil change, wheel alignment, check some engine codes and replace a faulty tire sensor. I do my own repairs that are within my grasp; brakes, shocks/struts etc. When I was called for the run down on my vehicle they mentioned I needed to replace the rear struts. Immediate red flag in my head. I just replaced those myself with brand new units not 6 months ago. So highly unlikely they were bad. I pass on all extras and ask they just do what I asked for, please. When I go to pick up my car and pay, I ask if they can explain what they saw that would lead to them recommending replacing the rear struts. Maurice says "they were leaking." Odd since my new struts are gas filled and I said "I find that hard to believe since those are brand new and not 6 months old." Maurice says, "O ok, I could have got you mixed up with another vehicle." He reads over the mechanic's write up and it states the rear tires were "cupped". So merely based on that they recommended the replacement. Didn't even actually look at the struts themselves. This is at best shoddy work or at worst trying to bill me for unnecessary work to get more money out of me. Zero warranty on a wheel alignment is ridiculous as well. "Just tires" offers something like a 1-year or 3-year warranty on their alignment jobs. I have lost all trust in Wheeling Auto and will never go back again. I've heard there are new owners so perhaps this is where the change has come from. read more

That's more than the dealer charges. $79.53 to say need new brakes which anywhere else would have been part of the free overall inspection. Total rip off. Absolutely crazy to go in for an oil change and tire rotation and leave paying $196.25. read more

I had my engine blow up on the highway and had my car towed to Wheeling Auto. All I could think about was how much this is going to cost me all weekend. After looking at it Brian said that it may be qualified for a recall Hyundai had. They took care of all the paper work as well as had it towed over. I was very happy with the whole experience. It was my first time there. I needed an oil change but also was a bit behind on the 80k mile tune up. Some minor & some slightly more serious issues were found. It was a lot of work and it might have needed an extra day in the shop, but they were able to get it done in one day, which was very helpful to me. When we purchased a new vehicle in 2021, we took it to the dealership rather than Wheeling auto, as it was a new vehicle, and still under warranty. However, when the dealership recommended getting multiple items fixed on the vehicle, we decided to get a second opinion at Wheeling auto (where we had past vehicles serviced, and always felt they did a good and trustworthy job). Wherling auto center is my go to place for car repair. I had an old honda that finally required some work. WAC was open early enough for me to drop off my car before work and pick up a loaner and also open late enough to pick my car up after work. They also found a few other things that needed to be fixed and got it all done quickly. Too bad that car was totalled (not my fault) a year later. Then I had a new (to me) Toyota that threw check engine codes soon after I bought it. WAC quickly figured out the problem and worked with the extended warranted to get the work covered. Again, they also throughly checked my car and found a few other issues that needed work. All repairs were done quickly and correctly the first time. read more

If you try to tell them that you have your own parts for a simple job they'll tell you that you can't use the parts that you bought already you have to use their parts or they can't guarantee the job. I took my vehicle there that had a bad coil and they came back and told me that I may not make it home afterwards when I drove the vehicle there. They came back with a bill to me nearly $3,000 I told them to put the vehicle back together and I'll take it away. The next day I had the vehicle tuned up and it's working fine. The mechanics at the shop that I took it to the next day did the tune up for $350 were these people were trying to tell me I needed nearly a $3,000 job to give them. read more

A long time customer, I had naively trusted this shop with many vehicles until recently. It turns out I was likely being ripped off for years. When I took an older vehicle in for a simple oil change it was explained to me that I needed extensive repairs; repairs that would cost nearly as much as the value of the vehicle itself. I was shocked as there were no symptoms of these issues. I decided to take the car to a friend of mine who is an out-of-town mechanic for a second opinion. He examined the car and determined these repairs to be totally unnecessary. In fact, he thought the vehicle was in such good operating order that he made me an offer on it and purchased the car. It's been two years and the car continues to operate without developing any of the issues that Wheeling Automotive had attempted to repair. In addition, I called a couple of local shops for pricing on the repairs and discovered that Wheeling Automotive was more than double the cost - had I really needed the work. I had trusted them, and even recommended them, for years and now believe I was duped. I wonder how many other costly repairs were unnecessary. Funny thing is, there were several occasions where Wheeling Automotive totally missed simple, yet necessary and obvious mechanical issues (like replacing belts even though I asked that they be checked). I ignored these red flags, thinking they were honest mistakes. Don't be fooled like I was. I'm glad I tried this place based on the positive reviews because I had a really great experience! Since you're going to be spending upwards of 45 mins at this place it might as well be comfortable. Their waiting room is nice, clean, and spacious. There are complimentary coffee and beverages, tv and Wi-Fi (and it's fast enough to stream an episode of Game of Thrones). I took my car in for an oil change, but they threw in a car wash and wiped some of the dust off my dash. They also performed a full visual inspection and recommendations for my next service. I felt the price was fair and not once did I feel like they where screwing me over like I sometimes feel at the dealership. As I left, Dave handed me an envelope that contains a free gift, but I must not open it until the next visit. I take both of our cars to them and just today had them work on my moms car. I usually deal with Brian who has always been awesome. Have worked with Dave several times and I got great service today from one of the technitions named Andy. Brian is always honest about what my car really needs to get done and the prices are fair. My wife's tire light always comes on several times during the fall and they also check the tires & fill them up with air. Oh and their Air is free is just as good as the Air from any place else. Seriously, how can we let gas stations charge us for Air?? I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to have their car serviced. These guys are trash brought my car with a clutch problem, they quoted me for twice the amount any other shop said charged me 60 dollars for the inspection where they mentioned oh a fresh nail in my tire it was still sizzling when I saw it. Be aware if they can't fix your car for good price they just try to make sure it never leaves their lot. These guys are great! Brian and Dave have been very helpful, patient and thorough in explanations and answering my questions. I was a little concerned taking my Jeep anywhere but the dealer, some places struggle with it, because it has a diesel engine. Brian has taken great care of it and it runs great, because of their diligent work. I wish I had come to Wheeling Auto Center years ago! It was also nice to be treated as a person and not spoken down to, either because I'm not a mechanic or due to my gender.
