I've brought a vehicle in multiple times and each time the service has been good and the repairs have worked great. I've never had them go over an estimate but I have had them come in well under on one occasion. My employer is within walking distance so I can drop off my car and get it at the end of the day which is nice. Problems doing a simple alignment. From the factory my cars rear camber can not be adjusted. So 5 years back I installed adjustable camber arms so they could be adjusted. Dropped it off to get an alignment and they did not touch or even look at the rear and said it cant be adjusted. FIRST, to do an alignment the mechanic should really be checking the entire suspension in case there is a worn part which would make an alignment useless if not impossible. The mechanic didnt look at any part at all or he would have seen he could adjust the rear. I went to pick the car up and thats when I found out they didnt do a complete job and the mechanic argued with me that the rear could not be done. They went back and surprise!!! They were able to adjust the rear. I went back to finally pick it up and was told next time I would have to pay hourly for an alignment because it was "so much extra work". No it was not, if it was done properly to begin with it was no more than any 4 wheel alignment. I would recommend staying away from here. Pep Boys would do a better job with the alignment. Let me guess they will say they have no evidence I was an actual customer. read more

Be weary, it's not the same service you found when Rod and Jim owned it, and certainly there's extra fees and up charges with the new owners. It's not just inflation. Ben going there for 20 years, now they're using a lot of unliked dealership service tactics. Quoted me $1600 for a brake/rotor job, I got it done for $900 at another place. When I used to work in the City of Chicago and took the train in every morning, Advanced Automotive Repair was really convenient. Their location is right across the street from the mail parking lot. So, I could drop my car off in the morning, walk to the train. Then, when I took the train home my car was waiting for me in their parking lot. In fall of 2014 I went in and got a front left tire assembly done for significantly less than the Dealer estimate. It was done well, and while not the most amazing of shops, it was satisfactory, even if I had to hang out in the building for a lot longer than I wanted... it was a year ago, so I may have had someone come get me, and drop me off... I think I tried to get a rental car... who knows. Anywho, its been a year, and guess what? Again I took my car into the Dealer... oil change and wipers aside... apparently there is some 'cupping' to the rear tires and a leaky vacuum pump in the oil system. Tried to book an inspection here for both, and obtain an estimate... and was on hold for awhile, then had to try and jump through hoops to schedule... and on top of that, the whole part of shuttle service, seems limited to local Palatine area. While I could finagle time on a weekday during work hours, the being stranded there and not very concierge about maybe working from a local Panera, made me annoyed... so I cancelled the appointment. Time to get a new car anyway... =) read more

Lexus 450H- Wheel alignment. I feel very lucky to have been referred to Advanced Auto and Truck Repair. I added 4 new tires and needed to get an alignment. I was a little skeptical going somewhere other than my dealer. Boy, I am so glad I did. Advanced Auto and Truck Repair did a great job on my alignment. My car drives smoother and straighter now for half the price my dealer would have charged. STOP reading reviews and just go here. They are extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. Point in case. Originally, I brought my car in for an alignment and brake job. Accordingly to my dealer, I only had 1mm and 3mm of brake pads left. Thankfully, I got a second opinion because Advanced Auto and Truck Repair said I still have 30% of my pads left and they are not ready to be replaced. They could have taken me for $800+. But they were honest. And it is so refreshing to have found an honest mechanic. I know there are many good honest mechanics out there but it is very expensive going through the hassle trying to find one. I am very fortunate to have found this place! read more

I've got to say, dropping my car off here was the best and easiest experience I've ever had at an auto mechanic. I got 4 tires mounted and alignment done, plus an oil change for convenience sake. The folks at the front desk were friendly and answered all of my questions - which was a blast, because I don't know that I've ever had an easy time at the front desk of a mechanics shop! So, for the work, the tires were mounted perfectly, no problems there. They even flipped the 'oil has been changed' switch which turns off the warning like in the cabin, which some mechanics miss. The price came out a bit higher than I expected, but I tacked on the alignment not really knowing what it was. I'm familiar enough with cars to know that you need an alignment after a tire change, but I didn't know that it was a sort of involved process. Involved is expensive. Oh well, estimate was accurate, staff was totally honest about what the car needed, and I appreciate both of those things. Will be using Advanced in the future! read more

Under new ownership!!!!! Old owners knew what they were doing, took care of you never lied. I Dropped my truck off and had to explain to the incompetent "service manager" (Dwayne) that I had tires with me and I needed them mounted and balanced. He was not sure what I was talking about, pretty simple tires mounted on rims. We had to take a walk outside for the "service manager" to understand what I was talking about which was the first red flag. I left the truck hoping everything was going to be alright, that was not the case. First of all I had to call them at 2 o'clock to ask if my truck was done which it was for awhile now. I was talking to (Dan) at this point, I asked him if the brakes were checked, he took a while to reply and goes on to say he has to check with the technician that did the job. Then he goes on to say they had to remove my front right mudflap to get the alignment correct and that they were not able to reattached it. He asks me if I would like it reattached, obviously I want my truck the same as I brought it in... i told him I will be there at 4:30. I was under the assumption I would get there everything would be fine. I get there the mud flap is leaning on my leather seat with screws point towards the seat. I go in and (Dan) is not there I am now dealing with (Dwayne) the "service manger" which could not understand the fact I need tires mounted on my rims. He walks me out to my vehicle to show me the mud flap situation and goes on to tell me that the technician that test drove my vehicle took it off because he didn't want it to fall of because it wasn't secure. Which is a completely different story than I was told on the phone. I am here now trying to reattach my mud flap for the last hour frustrated that it was taken off in the first place and that I was lied to about a simple service that did not require removing my mud flap. Stay away from this place if you were a previous customer under previous ownership I advise to find a different shop. read more

Jim and his team were extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy, took great care of my car and replaced my clutch, so it now works like new. I was optimistic taking my car here after seeing the positive reviews online. I brought it in for one main issue and a few other minor things. They recommended replacing several parts which I was under the impression were needed to fix the problem. It was very expensive, but I figured it had to be done. After getting the car back and driving it, I realized the original problem had not been fixed and that now it had a new problem as a result of the work that had been done on the car. I took it back in and asked if they could fix it since it was something that was not there when I brought the car in. They said it would cost more money to fix the new problem. I was very disappointed to hear this and thought it was unfair to have to pay more to fix something that was ok when I brought it in but now had a problem because of the work that was done. Overall I really wanted to like this shop but unfortunately it did not work out for me. read more
