We had a terrible experience with this shop. They put in parts to our engine that was already seized up. I told them the problem that we had in detail and said after this conversation I didn't tell them the whole story. They never should have started any work on our car. They proceeded with work done to the engine that should have never happened. They called us liars and demanded payment for work that never should have been and threaten to take us to court if we didn't pay for what they did. Do not bring your cars to this shop Guy who is the man in the office is unreliable.What they do is take your car apart and they do not mention that there is a few for finding out what is wrong with it. A great experience! My Caravan was acting up on ignition start. It'll just do nothing when I turned on the ignition from ACC - ON - Start. Read a bunch of forums and thought the worst - fuel pump issue, starter blown. It turned out to be an issue with the relay box. The crew tried to recreate the issue and were able to diagnose the problem without just doing their replacement routine. Hyne's Auto service has a customer for life now! Trust and respect is vital and they've certainly got it. They offer a full line of auto-service including tire repair. My low tire pressure light was on my car and the car dealer said I needed a new tire (which is on back order). I went to Hynes and was told a small screw was in the tire which did not puncture the tire. They removed the screw, checked pressure on all tires, nothing was wrong. The sensor just had to be reset. There was no charge. I will100% definitely be returning to Hynes for ALL future car work. They were efficient and most of all honest!! read more

Went to Hynes to patch a tire that had a nail in it. The tire patch itself was fine. However, when I received the bill there was an extra $43 charge on it (in addition to the tire repair fee). The service tech accidentally removed the tire pressure monitoring sensor but didn't have the right tool to reinstall it, so they ended up replacing the TPMS band and charging me for it. The worst part was there was no communication about this issue prior to me receiving the bill with the additional charge. Service techs should have the tools they need to complete the job. Additionally, it is understandable if accidents happen, but it would have been nice to set expectations and tell the customer about this prior to seeing extra charges on the bill. read more

You should have a friend who is a doctor, police officer, bartender, and an auto mechanic. Fortunately for me, I know a great auto mechanic, Mike Hynes. I've had the pleasure of knowing Mike for about 13 years and would never bring my car to another garage. It seems as if my BMW isn't so much the "Ultimate Driving Machine" as it is a "Big Money Waster." Mike always tells me the severity of the problem and the urgency of getting it fixed. If its not something that will strand me on the highway, he will let me know (unlike most mechanics who tell you everything is crucial). I travelled from Canada to visit family in Glenview, Ill. and noticed that one of my tires, twice seemed to be losing air. Not wanting to risk a flat tire on the side of a road, I went to Hynes Auto Service. I was treated with courtesy and fast, efficient service as soon as I walked in. Mike Locascio, the technician did not find the reason the tire had lost air twice and explained what might have been the problem. He inflated the tire and I will check it daily. If more air is lost, I will return and they will take the rim off and look for interior damage. As a senior traveling alone, I was so grateful for the assistance received by all at this location. read more

Found myself stranded at the Napa Auto Parts store with a flat tire. Hynes is behind the auto parts store in Glenview. I asked the owner, Bill, to see if they could get me a 225-75 R15 Optimo white walls. He didn't get back with me, so I walked over and spoke with Guy, the man behind the desk. He was taciturn, rude and too busy to help. We found the tires and ordered them. The next day, with the owner's agreement, we delivered the tires to Hynes to install. They charged me roughly $70 which was okay, but when we got the truck back, they had mounted the white walls on the inside -- not visible. Now what kind of idiot would go to the expense and effort to get white wall tires for a 1961 Chevy Apache pick up and mount them so the black side is showing? Not me. I called to let them know and basically was told that I had to pay them another $50 to correct their mistake. Ladies, run. This is not the shop to take it too. read more

They have my VW there right now, just wanted to say these guys are the BEST. They fixed my truck a few months ago, very professional, smart, good communicators. I do a lot of my own work and when I go to a shop am often talked to like I don't know anything, these guys are very responsive. I called them this morning at 9AM to tell them my car, which was 25 miles from them, needed a tow and that I wasn't sure what was wrong. By 11AM the car was gone. They called me with a diagnosis and estimate by noon. My old mechanic would still be scratching his butt. Just got the final tally from them, very fair price. Nice guys. Thank you! read more

Had trouble with why truck driving to work on Wednesday about noon. Did not feel safe driving it to my regular mechanic and as I work close to Hynes I chose to go there. They're about 2 block from where I work. I'm very happy and pleased I chose them. Turned out that it was my wheel bearing in the front end. They said that it would cost at most $623.00 but was pleased when I got the bill and was $408.58. Not only did the repair come under the quote but they had it finished by 4 o'clock the same day. I was having major issues with my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Billy Stegich helped fix it and explain what was necessary to fix right away and what could wait. Ultimately, I traded in my 2007 for a 2015 Jeep but Billy and everyone at Hynes were so helpful the past 3 months.
