They properly diagnosed the problem as a bad wheel bearing/hub and got it taken care of quickly. The car is now running great and is noticeably smoother and quieter. What impressed me most was the professionalism, communication, and the feeling that I could trust what I was being told. Brian was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience easy. When I was last at the dealership service center for an oil change last summer, I got a huge list of services my car (2016 Mazda CX-5) was due for. Considering my car is 10 years old and that I've been putting off some of the services for a while, I decided that it was time to get those done; however I didn't like the price that I was getting from this place or the other Mazda service centers I called. I figured I'd give a local shop a try and I'm extremely glad I did! From the very first call I was already feeling good about these guys. Lee picked up the phone pretty quickly; I asked if I could email the list of services to them and get their quotes, and he said no problem and gave me their email. He also answered a few other questions I had and kept everything effortless and professional. After I emailed them I got a quick reply from Brian who also answered my questions and provided the quotes, which were much more reasonable! It was very easy to make an appointment for my car, and even when I had to reschedule there was no trouble doing so. I dropped my car off in the morning and met both Lee and Brian who were both very friendly and personable. Their waiting room is comfortable with a TV, a fridge with water, and even some toys to keep kids occupied while you wait. Since I was leaving my car for the day I brought my Onewheel electric skateboard, which Lee saw, and he showed me his e-bike and we talked a bit about PEVs (personal electric vehicles) before I rode my Onewheel back home. My car was ready for pickup by the end of the day as they said it would be, and it's been running great ever since! I also recently got an oil change there and it was probably the fastest one I've experienced from giving them the keys to getting them back (no more than 45 minutes, compared to the dealership service center where I've waited ~90 minutes on average). Everything has been uncomplicated with no surprises so far! Aside from the quick and straightforward work that they do, I also appreciate that they have a rewards program that helps you save money on future services. They are also regular sponsors of local events and are a big part of the community. It feels much better bringing my car to a local shop that supports and gives back to the community rather than going to a dealership that doesn't really do that. If I could offer more than five stars I would. I live in Evanston and have used a local place for years. They recently told me that I needed to replace the control arms on my classic car to the tune of "ohmigod" kinda money. They told me it was pretty critical and needed to be done soon, because they were rusted and a large pothole could cause a front wheel to pop right off. I told them I'd have to think about it, 'cause honestly that's as much as the car's worth. Fast forward to today, a very good friend recommended that I get a 2nd opinion from Lee at ProAuto. I called and made an appt. and Lee checked it out today. He told me two things. 1) yes, there's some corrosion, but it's far from panic stage, especially given how little I drive this car, and 2) the price was less than half of what I was quoted by my local place... and they refused to charge me for their evaluation. Pro auto is a bit of a drive for me, but it's a large, clean storefront, the staff is pleasant and helpful, they have loaners (they have loaners!!!), and they seem to know what they're doing. I drive from Highland Park to Morton Grove to use ProAuto because they have the best customer service, are incredibly fast, and, most importantly, they are honest. This is especially meaningful because, as a woman, I often get taken advantage of at auto shops. I previously visited a car care shop in Highland Park (I won't name any names), and they took over 48 hours to perform an oil change. Additionally, they suggested an abundance of unnecessary maintenance. ProAuto saved me over $3,000, and I will recommend them to everyone I know for their fantastic service. Recently got work done on my car and it was honestly the best place I've been to in years. Brian and Lee made the process easy for me and were patient with my vehicle that was needed so many additional parts for a water pump. I had a flat tire yesterday. I changed it to the spare but the spare had very little air. Looking for the 1st place with a pump I saw ProAuto. Told me to pull right in. The crew had other jobs but jumped right on it. They filled the tire to the proper psi. I was in and out in minutes. I offered a few bucks for the effort. The waiting area was clean and comfortable, the person running the show named Scott was straightforward, easy to work with, and honest. They went above expectations and helped me with a bumper that had some broken brackets and was the price was very reasonable. Helped us in a real pinch! A friend discovered a much more serious problem when doing some less complicated work on our SUV one Friday night, in Glenview. (We live 40ish mi. away) Was able to drop it by first thing Monday and Lee got to figuring it out and working on it right away! He is a pro at really getting into the issue your vehicle has, without having to troubleshoot his way through the repair which takes more time and costs more money. Also. If you need new tires, Scott at the front desk will also hunt down the best deals and rebates for you and have the tires dropped off at their shop to install. The warehouse is in the area. We've been bringing our cars here since they opened and are really impressed. Also it's one of the cleanest shops I've ever been in. My car was broken!! Went out for 3 estimates knowing there was definitely something going on with my car and it wasn't going to be good. I've been working with the same repair facility for yrs w/trust and believed they worked on my behalf, that was my 1st mistake. Drove into the new place on Dempster in Morton Grove (ProAuto) and ask too look over and give me a full & total inspection of what I need for repairs. Boy oh boy did I get a really check!! I was told "you should NOT even be driving this car "and with that gave me a list of 3 things that must be fixed before I continue driving this car.
