We first heard about Mr. Kim from our son in laws family who have been taking their cars there for years. Sounded too good to be true, but once our cars went out of warranty and we needed service we went there. What a pleasant surprise, great service, explained what was needed and how long it would take. Pricing has always been fair, far more reasonable that dealers and other shops. We have the greatest confidence in the work performed, they will fix only what needs to be fixed, will you tell if there are marginal issues and advise a cost. There are several other shops closer to to our home but we will gladly drive the four or five miles to this shop. read more

Great and prompt service Mr Kim is friendly and quite polite, charged me a reasonable repair cost. We have been using his service for over 8 years now. read more

Good quality, reasonable price, friendly service. My picky, Korean speaking mother has been a customer for many years. She trusts them with her car. read more

Mr Kim is amazing. He does what's needed and skips the upsell. Honest as can be. Truly appreciate him.

Mr. Kim is the best!! I've been going to the Dempster Auto service for seven years He's honest, reliable and his price is very reasonable. I feel fortunate that I know where to take my car every time I have a problem. read more

Mr. Kim is honest and prices are reasonable. He explains everything and tells you things that need to be done for maintenance of your car. I will continue going to Dempster Auto Service for my car. read more

I've been going here since 2017, Mr. Kim is amazing. Him and his employees always do a great job and keep my car well maintained. Very reasonably priced and great work. read more

Mr. Kim has serviced my elderly mother's car for many years (2005 to 2022). He has always REPAIRED ONLY WHAT WAS NECESSARY, and, unlike some repair shops, never took advantage of her advanced age and diminished acuity. He took care of her car as if it were his own mother's, and, his prices were/are more than fair. Mom recently passed away, so we traveled from NY to IL to start settling her affairs. While visiting, our own car malfunctioned and would not start. We had it towed to Dempster Auto Service. There were a couple of much more expensive "fixes" for the same "symptoms," but Mr. Kim and his assistant tried the LEAST EXPENSIVE OPTION FIRST. Not only did they fix the problem, Mr. Kim called us a couple of days later to make sure the car was still working properly! If you're looking for an honest auto repair shop, this is it! read more

I have been coming here for car repairs since 2018. Mr. Kim is honest and his prices are fair. He does a great job and I highly recommend him. read more

I called day of, and got my brakes and rotors on all four axles replaced in under a few hours at a very fair price. The speed and service is amazing, though don't expect a lengthy explanation on what's wrong with the car. Just know you're gonna be taken care of. read more

I've been coming here for years and never dissatisfied. I come for all of my oil change appointments and inspections. They are busy so make an appointment ahead of time. The prices here are great and Mr Kim will never do unnecessary fixes. He is very honest like the other reviews have said and I speak very highly of this place everywhere i go. Highly recommended! read more

This is a 5 star auto shop. I have visited this place many time. Most recently I went here because my battery completely went off. Not only did they put a new battery when I came back, they also adjusted the clock so that I don't have to do it. Little things, right? Very reasonably priced and very detailed service. Very honest about the assessment and estimate. Will definitely recommend this place to anybody. read more

I am updating my review that I wrote in 2013 (which is below and was 5 stars then). Dempster Auto Service is STILL 5 stars and the nicest, most knowledgeable and fast place to bring your car for ANY service. Mr. Kim has helped me and my mom when she has visited from Roscoe, IL and her car had a few problems. I did not want her driving all the way home wondering if the car was OK and Mr. Kim checked it and fixed it for her and assured us it was OK. Dempster Auto Service is easy to find, easy to pull in and park and easy to work with Mr. Kim. Please try it out, I promise you won't be disappointed. 2013: This is a nice little gem of a place. Mr. Kim is super nice and friendly, always smiling and very fair! Dempster Auto Service is not looking to nickle and dime you but to only give you the facts and fix your vehicle at a decent price. I have been coming here for years for oil changes and the now and then repairs like spark plugs, air filter, brakes. Mr. Kim is accommodating and explains everything so you are clear on what is needed and what he and his team have done. I HIGHLY recommend Dempster Auto Service. Mr. Kim is awesome! read more

Mr. Kim and his crew are simply the best. Honest and straightforward service. Our family has taken our cars there since day one, and will continue to do so for generations to come. How many auto shops can you say that about? read more

Before everyone says why a one star read my review. My warranty just ran out on my car so I was looking for a mechanic I could use for general maintenance and other things. I read all these great reviews about I come here all the time for oil changes and that Mr. Kim takes care of you. Anyways I called saying I pull be there in 2 days to check the problem with my ac not working the person says ok come on by. I get there after work and explain everything to him and he doesn't even bother checking anything on the car. He tells me maybe you need more ac coolant. I told him I tried that and nothing. He then tells me come back on Monday and then we can do something. Please keep in mind we're talking about this in the front desk. Couldn't give me 15 minutes of his time. What a waste of time I don't know what everyone is talking about this place being so great I'll never come here again. read more

I absolutely recommend this auto service. They were kind like any other people and explained thoroughly. Some stores talked about costs per a hour first before an inspection, and just asked keep waiting without mentioning. But the staff at Dempster auto service did not charge any fees about an inspection, so I gave a tip of thanks. read more

Dempster Auto was recommended to my by a coworker and I see no reason to ever take my car anywhere else. I've been there several times (oil change, flat tire, alignment) and Mr. Kim is always so honest. He never tries to 'up sell' me. There is never something else mysteriously wrong with my car. He's a very straightforward and honest businessman plus the service is always great. I've never felt a sense of loyalty to an auto shop until now! This is exactly the type of business that should be supported. read more

Mr Kim is always upfront about what issues you bring to him with your car. He tries his best to accommodate you needs on the busy weekends and will reasonably and professionally take care of your car with his staff. The work by his crew is top notch and yes he will not make work up on your car if it is not needed! Thanks for running a great neighborhood repair shop read more

My 5 Stars Review: A couple of months ago I shopped around to find the best deal for Tune-up work to do on my 2006 Lincoln LS. When I called this shop for estimate Mr. Kim gave me the best price in town. He is very attentive and knowledgeable. He has good experienced mechanics who took care of my car doing their job in professional manner. His honest mechanics found a couple of other small problems (not related with this necessary repair) and fixed them too. This is very reliable place to fix cars. If I have other problems to be fixed I will certainly take my car to fix here! Thank you for your Great Service Mr. Kim!! read more

I've been coming here for years for work on my Honda Civics - the owner is Korean and a bit stiff over the phone, but the quality of his work is high and the price is very reasonable. He replaced my 1997 Civic timing belt for less than half the price of anyone else I could find. When I recently called about having a tune-up on my 2005 Civic, his first question was "are you sure you need tune-up?" and then offered to do an inspection to determine if it was necessary so that he could in his own words "save you monies." read more

Dempster Auto Service is a Morton Grove treasure. Mr. Kim is extremely honest and straightforward regarding any repairs or maintenance your car needs. He services my car, my wife's, 2 of my children's as well as my in-law's vehicles. I know very little about cars and to have someone who I can trust and feel secure that whatever he tells me is the truth and not embellished....and that all the work done is top notch is huge. I'd like to add he's active in the local community sponsoring my younger son's baseball team. If I could I'd give Dempster Auto Service 6 stars! read more

i have been here since 2012 for oil, break problems this place is really good their price is very reasonable, owner is honest and try to work with you but they always busy so regular maitance, call and make appointment first they will work with your budget i had Audi TT snd S5 and now i have Fr-s so they can work all different kind of car it doesnt matter you have european car our japanese car they are professional read more

I took my car to Ozark Shell to replace the charcoal canister. They messed it up. Engine Check Light stayed on. I stopped by Advanced Auto Parts to pick up something and spoke to one of the workers there. He told me I should try Mr. Kim. He is honest and charges a fair price. I thought for a week and decided to give a try. Mr. Kim is good. He found out that the other shop connected the hoses incorrectly. He said that smog test may not be needed. Let me check the component first. He guarantee the check light would not come back on 0441 again. It never did. I am impressed. read more

I feel very fortunate to live within walking distance & Mr. Kim is the most honest auto repair person I've ever dealt with. I drive an older car & he always tries to save me money, or let me know if I can wait awhile. I always refer him when asked about auto repairs read more

Dempster Auto (Mr. K), his mechanics and staff are all honest, friendly and hard working. He won't try to up sell you just to make a buck. He'll tell you: 1) What you need to get repaired 2) What you can consider repairing (if applicable) 3) What you absolutely do not need to repair unless you have money to burn Prices are the always reasonable. How do I know?? I do my homework and call around to other shops to get quotes first. I have been going to Dempster Auto for years now. I would highly recommend Dempster Auto to anyone. I just realized that my listing from a while ago has not been approved by Yelp. Hopefully this honest review will post. read more

no stars for this business. Owner is a Scammer!!! I brought my car for repair and he told me that is not worth to repair due to my car is old. I asked him to repair it anyway. He lied that he could not, he junked it. Couple of days later, I saw my car drove by one of the staff in the Dempster Auto Service. I stopped by the Dempster Auto Service and complained about it. They admitted that they lied, but car can not be returned due to that they sold it to someone else. When I shared my story to my friend who had the same issues. Owner is a scammer and need to stop the lies. BBB should investigate the business and stop this scam once and for all. read more

Learned about Dempster Auto Service from my next door neighbor who had been going there for several years. I drive a 2001 Acura TL and I've literally had ALL my auto repair work done at this shop (replaced my transmission, timing belt, new tires, brakes, and all oil changes). Mr. Kim, the owner, is very honest. I've been going to him long enough to know that he doesn't come up with unnecessary fixes to make money off his customers. Everything he has done on my car done operates well. All of his customers appear to be returning customers, and his shop is always jam packed, I think this attests to the fact that he does quality work and a good price. I'd highly recommend this place! read more

We were on our way to a wedding in Wisconsin and needed an emergency repair. We stopped in this little shop and were treated unbelievably well. They took a look at the car, fixed it right away, and we were back on the road in 30 minutes. They didn't even want to charge us! But we insisted on paying something because the service was phenomenal and they got us out of a jam. Great place! read more

really? i can't believe the owner is so rude. asking me for donation bc i drive "expensive" car. i asked for a quote and he laughed at me bc i shouldn't be worried about a price,. once again bc i drive nice car. also i had to pay for service that wasn't done and when i asked for refund, he tried to give the auto "part" back not the money once again, thank you for making fun of me read more

Finally, an honest mechanic. Mr. Kim is awesome. Simply put he does not lie, cheat, or steal. Love this guy. I will never take my car anywhere else. read more

Amazing. I don't know why I waited so long to stop in. Embarrassingly, I thought from all the Korean signage that only Koreans were welcome there, but I couldn't have been more wrong. When my car battery went weak, I drove in on the recommendation of a friend and neighbor (we live just blocks from this shop), and I received the most inviting welcome. The manager Dennis diagnosed and fixed the problem within 15 minutes and then changed the oil for way cheaper and quicker than any other branded oil lube shop has ever done! In short, I trust these guys with my car, which has been a reliable part of our family for almost 13 years. I have a feeling Dempster Auto will be too! Thanks, Dennis and Mr. Kim!! read more
