I do quite a bit of work on cars myself and I used to work at Pep Boys so am pretty familiar with how most shops operate. I normally go to other places when I don't have the tools, time, and or knowledge needed for some things. I will go over my first experience with this shop and why my wife and I go here when needed. I had an issue with an oil pressure sensor leak. I could see it, I know how much the part costs, and I know what needs to be done. However to actually access it would be a pain. I called them up and asked them how much it would cost to replace it. I believe I spoke to Steve and he mentioned generally about 200 or so. Now, that would be the case for many cars, but not this one. So I asked Steve if he could check book time. Book time is basically the amount of time, in a perfect scenario, it should take a mechanic to complete a task. They can then give you an estimate with respect to their labor rates. For example if hourly labor is 150 and book time for say changing a starter is 1h, they can say the labor cost will be $150. Steve looks at book time and is surprised because it's higher than normal about 2x more time and was wondering why. I mentioned, that to access it you have to essentially remove a few other components. He mentions, well, you can bring it in and we can take a look. I was hoping maybe they'd have easier ways of accessing it and mentioned I'm going to think on it a bit. I went under the car again and decided, "Nope. Too much work." I called back and setup an appointment. I drop off the car. I'm not happy with where the car manufacturers' engineers decided to shroud the oil pressure switch and essentially up the replacement cost but it is what it is. Anyway, I get a call back and the price I have to pay is essentially 1h and the part. I head on over and am very surprised. I forget the name of the mechanic (think it started with an M) but I asked them, "I'm surprised that you got it done so fast ... how?!" They mentioned they'd dealt with those cars before as they're common so they rigged up/made a special tool to reach in and do it. That was when I decided TrueTech is a stand up place. They could have charged book time and believe me you, I would've paid it. However they had a seasoned mechanic who knocked it out and passed those savings in their time, as savings in my pocket back to me. This isn't just a good honest mechanic being a good honest mechanic but also the higher ups, the managers and or owners. It seems that is their standard too as they've always been pretty booked which says they're more about doing good work in good time and if they make good headway, you may luck out. You may not, their call :-) but again, book time is perfect world setup, not rusted through, seized on, broken off ... stuff. It is still a good way to understand what you may be looking at aside from the actual part. Since then if and when needed, we go to TrueTech and we've always been happy. P.S. Once they have you in their system (i.e. e-mail / phone), their estimates app, progress, etc and everything is great. Especially if you have a smart phone. I saw where someone mentioned they had difficulty with getting a response and I haven't ran into that. If anyone does run into that, call them and just verify they have the right info. read more

They're really good about looking after my old Toyota Corolla. I spoke to a gentleman named Steve when the check engine light went back on my car after they fixed the O2 sensor. He told me to bring it in right away but I couldn't because I started a new job so it wasn't until today I brought it in now they say they can look at it on Tuesday. TrueTech certainly lives up to the hype. As notoriously hard as it is to find an honest, affordable, and high-quality mechanic, I feel that that is what I've found with TrueTech. I'd been having a very difficult week, and worrying about my car was hardly the first thing on my mind. I brought my car in for TrueTech for what I had understood to be bad rotors. I could feel the pulsations in my steering wheel when trying to brake, and every car person I knew was telling me it was the rotors. After dropping it off at TrueTech, I learned that my car actually had very serious repair work that needed to be done, replacing a ball joint that was ready to break. As a service to me, Matt gave me a steep discount on the rotors that I had originally come in for and made sure that I got an oil change that we coming due. The mechanic stayed late that evening to make sure that the car would be ready for me to take to work in the morning, and I picked it up quite late with no hassle. My car now performs much better, with no pulsing in the steering wheel, and I feel much safer knowing that a serious issue had been nipped in the bud. Aside from the bad rotors themselves, TrueTech had also found that the brake pads had been installed poorly by a previous mechanic whom I had already ceased visiting due to frequently poor service. This was found only by TrueTech, even after a full inspection from the dealership revealed nothing wrong with my brakes to explain the aforementioned pulsating. I feel fortunate to have found TrueTech for a variety of reasons, but overall I am just satisfied to have found a quality mechanic that I feel I can actually trust. read more

I brought in my car for a myriad of issues that I've been procrastinating on, including a tune-up, as well as a few different mechanical repairs on my Audi. It was a lot more affordable than I imagined, making me wish I hadn't waited so long to come see them. They were extremely fair with me and 100% forthcoming about what repairs could wait, which ones could not, and which ones had cheaper options. In the end, I couldn't be more grateful for the quality of work they did, the time they spent explaining the work to me, and the feeling I had driving home - especially because the car feels like it runs & drives better than the day I bought it (pre-owned). Finally, one of the issues they were fixing for me was leaking wiper fluid, and while they were repairing that issue they somehow managed to fix an issue that came with the car, which was the wiper arms resting in the wrong position after each use and not in their proper place. The reason this sticks out to me is because I was not charged for this because I'm assuming it came pretty easy to them and was just done in the course of fixing the other wiper-related issue, but it also sticks out to me because I'd paid TWO other shops solely to fix this issue because the wipers were in my sight line, and neither shop was able to successfully repair it - and took my money all the same. My first Yelp review in forever, and it goes to Truetech. Like most girls, I am hesitant about taking my car in for repairs in fear that I would get ripped off. But finally I couldn't ignore the high-pitched squealing whenever I braked, like I just ran over a cat. So on the recommendations of friends, I came to this place. IT WAS AWESOME. I discovered Truetech through a friend about a year ago and I've been going back to them for all of my car repair issues ever since. Pete and Matt, the owners of the shop, are about the nicest, most honest auto-repair guys around. Most auto-repair shops I've been to always are trying to sell you repair jobs you don't necessarily need, but Truetech always has given me honest advice and options detailing how much life a certain part has or how urgent a certain issue is. They've actually talked me out of expensive repair jobs that I really didn't need. They are very competent in their work and very timely also. I've taken my car there for simple things such as brake jobs and for more complex jobs, like when my entire right wheel collapsed and sunk into the body. As for their pricing, it has been significantly less than what I was paying at the national-chain type repair shops. For example I had the same brake job done at Truetech for about half the price I was charged at a Firestone a couple years earlier. Great service! Matt and Tyler helped me figure out if a quote from a different auto place was actually what I needed. They were able to tell me that I didn't actually need my rear brakes replaced immediately, but took care of my front brakes. They are honest and realistic with their quotes. The growing pains at the reinvented TT seem to be settling in, and showing promise. After completing the move, the remaining owner, Matt, confided that the level of change led to things getting away from him for a bit. Now he's back in the garage working on vehicles and mentoring his crew. His hope has been to put the focus back into caring customer relations and patient, detailed diagnoses. The difference shows already in the results. They clearly delineated the root causes and need for further diagnostics with a number of issues with my Contour and priced them out. I've clearly kept this car alive much longer than it deserved, so we've decided to part ways with the vehicle but not with TrueTech -- back to being the TT we've come to know and love (but in a much easier spot to get to -- no more suicide circle \m/ ). P.S. Matt suggested donating to the Cars ministry at Willow Creek, which I have done before, but looking to do something a bit different this time. Considering a kickstarter campaign to pay someone with a wall to run it into or a cliff to run it off of. Which would you choose? Unless you wanna buy it, of course. read more

Like other reviewers here, I can tell you that the 5 start rating is no joke. They're awesome. I had the 'check engine' light on so my husband and I went to the auto shop I usually go to for my car things. I made my husband come with me because I know that I don't know anything about cars. So usually whatever the people tell me, I just agree and pay for. Thank goodness I made him come because they wanted to charge me $100 for them to just scan it to see the error. It wasn't to fix it, it was just to scan it to see what was wrong. My husband thought this was BS so we left. A few days later my husband found Truetech Automotive online with all the great reviews and it was super close to us so we decided to try them out. SO glad we did. They said they'd scan my car for no charge because it takes no work at all, then based on their diagnosis they'd let us know what needed to be done. Left our car with them, husband received a call from them about another issue they noticed (brake light bulb) and told him what the issue was/how much it would cost/do we want them to fix it, then picked up the car the same day! I LOVE the transparency of this place. Very upfront about the problems are and what it'll take to fix them, then it's up to you if you want them to do it or not. In terms of the 'check engine' light, it turned out they just needed to reset the check engine light and it was fine. Glad to know that there's an auto shop that doesn't just charge for nothing. While my car was there, we got the routine oil and filter replacement. I'd been avoiding it for a bit too long so they nicely but very clearly explained to me the repercussions of avoiding these necessary procedures. I was dangerously low on oil and could've damaged my engine (whoops). They are usually booked with appointments so if you're going here try to make an appointment first. We didn't know that before but we were lucky enough that they had a spot open when we came in. They're great. On your receipt you have a breakdown of cost of parts and labor. I was thrown by the end price because it was so much lower than what I was use to. read more

Brought our Enclave in after our Buick dealer couldn't / wouldn't pinpoint the problem, they wanted to throw parts cannon at a P0008 code. After diagnosing, the guys at Truetech verified our Enclave had a stretched timing chain and quoted a fair price. During the repair they found a couple of damaged hoses and a corroded engine mount that they fixed at no additional charge. They also told us to bring the car in monthly and they would be happy to check the oil level, since low oil pressure seems to be the root cause of these stretched chains. Finding a mechanic you can trust is not always easy, luckily I have Yelp! After looking at the best reviews around my office, I took my new (to me) old car to true tech. I knew some issues I wanted them to take a look at and also have them run through and let me know what they think. They got back to me with a list of items and prices that included labor. They didn't push me into anything and only made recommendations. I choose a few items to work on and let them do the rest. My only knock and I hate to do it is that communication was a little spotty. A few times they said they would call back and after a few days I had to call. But thy always picked up and took the time to talk. In the end, they did a great job at a reasonable price. This place is fantastic. I have a 2017 Toyota Avalon that needed an oil change. I've always been covered by Toyota Care and never needed to find a place to take my car too. After talking to some friends, they recommend taking my car to Matt at True tech and mentioned he went to the Bridge church which was a big plus for me. Unless I leave the area, TrueTech will be the last place I ever take my car. Matt and the guys here have been so ridiculously accommodating. All you need to know is I'd been battling a service engine soon light for 2 years, to the point where I was sick of going back to dealers who would just turn off the light, send me off and tell me to come back in if it returns (which it always did). I'd gone as far as to buy my own scanner to look at the code, then research it online! Finally after 50,000 miles, I thought the car was out of warranty (half true), and so I took it into TrueTech hoping they'd be more helpful than all the dealers I'd been to. The team there took it and told me what the issue was (lined up exactly with my own scanner), but then they surprised me. They could've easily just told me it'd be $2000, which I was even prepared to pay. I would've been none the wiser. But, Matt told me that he thought there's still a chance that Nissan would fix this under warranty, and that I should call them. I did, and turned out that I had a 60,000 mile warranty on the powertrain, which covered the problem. I was able to finally go to a dealer and convince them to fix it. TrueTech obviously couldn't do the work now, but their honesty has made me a customer for life. I've come back for every oil change (extremely reasonably priced, and they throw in oil changes if you need other work like brakes) since, and will continue to give them all of my auto repair needs as my warranty actually expires. Cannot stress how rare it is to find a truly honest mechanic, and you cannot go wrong here. read more
