When you hear that your child needs her palate expanded, you better find the best. Let me save you some time, this place IS the best. My daughter who was 7 when we started, has anxiety about anything that starts with Dr. I thought the separation of her palate would be bad, but we still had to get through impressions. How are they going to get her to do this? I was so impressed withe the staff. Dr. Lyons first started by giving my daughter tips on how to breath when the plate is in her mouth. She was calm enough to walk to the back where she was greeted by the sweetest tech. She did everything in her power to keep her calm and it worked! All but one appointment was with Dr. Lyons. She was so patient with my daughter and spoke to her while I listened in, instead of the other way around. It's much easier to ease a child when you speak directly to them. Dr. Lyons had the touch needed to make what could have been very difficult transitions thought the various steps to achieve what was needed. We have now been through the expander, braces and now retainer. Every visit top notch. My daughter loves to come to the orthodontist for the Elleroys (Elle and Roy are the partners first names). Very clever idea of offering wooden chips for doing a great job with your teeth. We have quite a collection and she is looking forward to cashing them in. They have a great selection of items to "purchase", from movies to an electric toothbrush. Now that we are nearing the end of Phase 1, I have no worries ever having to go back for Phase 2. I know my kids will be well taken care of and the compliments on her teeth are reason enough. read more

Dear friends of the orthodontic world, I am an adult with braces who would like to remain anonymous since I don't want to relive the torment of childhood "brace-face" banters towards my wind! I would like to acknowledge a wonderful orthodontist by the name of Dr Gunsolus. I came in a few months back hesitant about going through my second round of braces due to my negligence of wearing retainers as a child. I met a coordinator who was gracious, educated, and very assuring that braces in adulthood were not uncommon and yet the common ground for their office. I looked around while waiting for the doctor and confirmed that 4 out of the 5 chairs had adults sitting in them. Phew! I met Dr Gunsolus again a few weeks later and he seemed very seasoned and educated with his knowledge and experience. I found out he was also a professor at UW. I appreciated the time he took to describe the 2nd time around braces process and it really eased my mind. I decided to go ahead and start, better late then never! So far so good! Thanks to Dr Gunsolas and his staff! Although an fyi would be I came in one day for an emergency and met the other Dr in the office, a lady doctor. She didn't seem like she was in a good mood and didn't say one word to me barely, maybe it was a bad day for her. But she did fix my "bracket" that fell off! Maybe she needs a hug. Expensive does not mean good. This place is very expensive and the care is very poor. Dr. Lyons is a bad orthodontist and you will regret it if you see her. First off, I get the impression that dr. lyons hates her job, and that is never a good thing. She does the minimum to get by, and she doesn't seem to really care about her patients. She loves the money though -- a 3 day work week, constant vacations, and fancy cars works well for her. Too bad she doesn't care for the patients that make this possible. She feels entitled to it! (By the way, the 3 day work week makes finding appointments a little hard) Entitlement is a tone that runs through the entire office and staff. The tone in the office is a very negative one and will bring you down. The office staff is rude and condescending. They give the impression to you that they are doing you a huge favor, and that you are only an inconvenience to them. The two financial coordinators are something else, in a bad way. They do their best to mask their contempt for you until you sign the contract and the check clears, but then watch out. The smiles that the sales crew and orthodontist will give you when you first come to the office will ware off fast, and you will likely regret it very much if you trust yourself to be in the care of dr. lyons. trust me. read more

This is a big first for me, I have never written a review before this one anywhere. But after reading such a bad review posted about Dr. Lyon's I feel I can't stand by and not write a review. My children have terrible anxiety with their teeth and going to the dentist has been a huge struggle. When we were told about Dr. Lyon's by some soccer teammates and how great she was we went in with our eyes wide open since braces are a big investment and I knew I needed a special person to handle my kids fears. From the first time we met her and her staff they have gone out of their way to make my kids feel at home, helped minimize there anxiety by taking the time to talk with them and show them they care. It has been 2 years of going to Dr. Lyons and I have referred 5 families to Dr. Lyon's and they all agree this is a wonderful place and are so happy with her and her staff, the beautiful teeth after braces for those who have made it that far in the process and all the stages in between from start to finish. My one child would never of made it through braces (which by the way her teeth turned out Beautiful) without Dr. Lyon's and her gentle spirit and all around kindness. She is truly wonderful and has and will go the extra mile for you and I tell Everyone about her. read more

Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Lyons and her staff! I am an adult patient and had never had orthodontic treatment before so I was somewhat apprehensive about the whole process. Dr. Lyons took the time explain exactly what my treatment would entail and what I could expect along the way. I appreciated that she wanted to make sure that I not only had great looking teeth, but that my bite was corrected as well. This was my dentist's main concern as I was starting to get wear on my teeth from an incorrect bite. Each appointment was on time, efficient and actually fun (something I would never have thought I could say about a trip to any doctor's office). The staff was always courteous, professional and caring. I am thrilled with the outcome of my treatment. Since my treatment, my daughter has also had treatment at NSO. She had a similarly excellent experience, enjoyed her visits and her teeth look great. I didn't go here for my braces, but I wish I would have! I broke my retainer from years ago and found this office online and called them, hoping to replace it quickly. The office staff scheduled me for the earliest opening and were very helpful. I met with Dr. Lyons and was immediately impressed with her friendly demeanor and understanding of my concerns. My front teeth shifted quite a bit in the short time I was without a retainer, which I was worried about, but she put me at ease with her confidence that we could realign them with a new one. The two assistants I met were very nice and made me feel comfortable. I just got my new retainer yesterday and am feeling like this ordeal was a blessing in disguise! The quality is so much higher than that of my old one and my experience was so great here. My teeth are already looking so much better, and she even straightened out an issue with one of my bottom teeth as well. I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Lyons! read more

We really like Dr. Lyons and her staff and would highly recommend them. We shopped around and found her prices to be comparable to others. Her staff is very helpful and professional. They explained all of the costs carefully and the options available to us. They do free evaluations and are not rushing us into anything with any of our kids. The offices are very nice and my kids feel comfortable being there and with the staff. I know many people who send their kids to her for braces and rave about her, her office staff, and the work they do. They are busy (which is a good sign), so we book after school appointments well in advance. Yet when I called to ask for an appointment to fix a broken wire, they were able to get us in that same morning. I'd say they have great customer service! It is easy being a patient at North Seattle Orthodontics. From the moment the braces were placed, the maintenance provided by Dr Lyons, Dr Greenlee, and the team were above and beyond. Whether it was scheduling appointments or communicating with my personal dentist, upkeep on my end were effortless (minus the flossing and brushing). We have had a very positive experience for both of our daughters at NSO. Our high schooler is using invisalign and our younger daughter will start this fall, (if/when she loses the last few baby teeth). I'm a 27 year old man who's had braces for 17 straight. I missed appointments because of job, educational and family commitments.
