My teens completed their orthodontic care at Northcut Orthodontics after a not-great experience at one of the big Bellevue clinics. What a difference! Northcut is top notch, from Drs "Wink & Fink" to sweet Andrea at the front desk, to Alicia in financing, to all of the fabulous assistants. The Bellevue clinic (I'll leave unnamed) was so unprofessional...my kids would complain that once they were whisked to the back each time, "none of the girls know what they are doing and have to ask each other for help." The "girls" referred to a bevy of beautiful young ladies the orthodontist employed...the doctor himself was rarely around. My kids would lose brackets constantly, and that ortho would say that they must've eaten something they shouldn't have (sticky/hard food) even though they'd insist that they had not. Fast forward to Northcut: 20 months of (2nd set) orthodontia for my daughter without a single issue. Not one lost bracket. My older son got his THIRD set of braces (because the first two sets in Bellevue still left him with bite problems) with Northcut, and he is also loving the professionalism. We are so pleased! Absolutely incredible. I saw Dr. Jones today for an assessment for a unique situation after facial trauma. He was recommended by dentist, who I trust very much. Dr. Jones was caring, thoughtful, thorough. Ultimately, he recommended no orthodontic treatment and gave some advice regarding what I should do to optimize for my mandibular surgery. He talked through all the options and pros and cons. He's clearly very experienced and cares immensely; he is discerning and does not overtreat. I could not recommend him more! They treated me with respect, were always willing to take time to answer questions about my treatment, and went the extra mile to make sure they achieved a great result. I was referred to Dr. Winkler's office by my dentist, after having a few of my front teeth shift causing some discomfort. As an adult, the thought of getting braces was a bit of a turn off (I had never had them) but knew this was going to be the only way to solve the pain I was experiencing. After my initial consultation, I actually decided to get a second opinion (from a highly rated office found on Yelp) as I wanted to ensure the treatment options being recommended and price made sense. Northcut was by FAR the superior choice. In fact, I felt like I hit the jackpot. From treatment schedule and plan, overall cost, the staff - I could not have picked a better place. They always run on schedule, everyone in the office is professional and very friendly, parking is easy and free but most importantly, they care. Dr. Winkler is great at what he does and really takes the time to get it right. I cannot recommend this office enough! Quick side note: I had some orthodontic benefits through my insurance. Northcut submitted the claim for me in a timely manner and I received reimbursement for some of the cost within just a few weeks of starting treatment. Not all offices will take the time to submit claims on a patient's behalf, let alone actually follow through when they say they will. read more

I was referred to Dr. Shapiro's office by my teenaged daughter's dentist. I went in a bit wary, since these sorts of referrals are often based on medical professionals' cronyism, or so I thought. I'm pleased to say that I could not have been more wrong. My daughter has autism and very limited language and communication skills in addition to sometimes "odd" mannerisms. Dr. Shapiro's staff could not have been more wonderful and genuine in the way they've interacted with her. They are friendly and kind but never condescending or phony, which has often been the case in my experience. They never talk down to her, or to me, and truly treat her as an equal human being. I'm continually amazed with how the doctors and the staff are skilled and natural when it comes to people with special needs. Each and every one, in addition to their orthodontic expertise, have a genuine human touch. The equipment is state of the art, the office is immaculate, and every last person who works there is absolutely top drawer. I don't know how Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Winkler managed to attract such a stellar staff, but it's truly impressive. They may not have rock bottom prices but I feel the costs are reasonable, given that you are getting the very best in care. To me, it's worth every penny and then some. I wish I could give ten stars - I can't imagine that there is a better orthodontist in Seattle, or even in all of Washington state. read more

I've only had an initial consultation but it was an overwhelmingly positive experience. The front desk staff and assistants in particular were so lovely and accommodating. I spoke with Dr Jones and he was very informative and able to articulate the work that needed to be done in a very understandable way. I trust his opinion and could tell I was in good hands. Getting orthodontic work done can be a vulnerable process for some. Even when discussing the cosmetic side of things, he stuck to professional and technical language which I much appreciative. Came to Northcut Ortho based on the recommendations of Seattle Special Care Dentistry across the hall. I had been in a softball accident that knocked around my teeth and needed realignment although I had JUST finished a round of invisalign before the incident. Dr. Winkler and Shapiro were highly sympathetic and gave me a great price. Every time I came into the office, everyone was extremely friendly and nice, even with my fear of the dentist and dentist-like folk. Really professional without seeming cold, and willing to work with you on your schedule, price restrictions, and other factors. Would definitely recommend them! read more

I was referred to Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Winkler by my family dentist and couldn't be happier now that I finished my braces treatment! As an adult hearing I need braces and jaw surgery wasn't the greatest news but they were accommodating with different options to make the process better. I opted for the clear/ceramic braces that weren't as noticeable, and were very caring with close attention to detail throughout the entire jaw surgery recovery. It was very easy to trust you're in good hands and sets your mind at ease that you made the right decision choosing to come here. I was referred to Dr. Winkler and Dr. Shapiro by Dr. Letwin at Seattle Special Care Dentistry. After more than two years of braces, I got them off today! I have a nerve disorder in my face which causes a lot of pain and anxiety, and they have been so accommodating, scheduling me with Colleen (one of my favorite people in the world now) so that I could be comfortable and reduce my anxiety about these appointments. I just couldn't be happier. Dr. Shapiro doesn't practice there anymore but whenever I see him he still likes to check my bite. I don't have one bad thing to say and would recommend them to anyone. read more

I just finished up my orthodontic work through Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Winkler. As a 27 year old getting full braces, they were great about working with clear brackets since I wasn't eligible for invisalign. They initially thought I would need jaw surgery - when I couldn't afford that they were great at improvising an alternative plan. I just got my braces off (3 months shy of the 2 years they projected!) and I couldn't be happier with the end result and the care they gave me. They made getting braces as a full fledged adult about as pleasurable as it can be! read more

I have three children that have seen Dr. Winkler and Dr. Jones. Our first received a wonderful consult; we had teeth pulled at a strategic time that allowed for no orthodontia. Our second had 2 years of braces and her teeth turned out wonderfully. She loved going to see the doctors and was inspired to keep her teeth clean. I can't say enough good things about this office. First of all, I'm delighted and impressed with how well the orthodontia went. I'm completely pleased with the results. From start to finish I have felt like the care has been excellent. I got good help with the original decision to go forward, kind and skilled care while I had braces, and I appreciate the follow-up now that the braces are off. In addition, the office is incredibly well-run and pleasant. Everyone has a great way of interacting with patients. A somewhat minor example is that I always felt like there was enough time to get questions answered, and yet, they also managed to run very much on time. Dr. Shapiro does a fine job and is efficient. But the charge is on the expensive side. After talking to friends, I think I could have gotten the same treatment with 2/3 of the price. Also, they charge you high late fee less than 20 days after the bill was mailed out, and it was never said on the billing statement if and when a late fee will be applied. I think I will be cautious about recommending him to my friends. read more

I like the docs here, polite, helpful and nice, of course I miss Dr. Shapiro. I am not a big fan of the front desk staff when it comes to making an appointment, cold and not very considerate and accommodating, I wish they were as warm as the doctors and dental assistant who are just awesome people. read more

I was referred to Dr Winkler's office by my dentist. I have a 100% overbite, that I have lived comfortably with for 67 years. Approx 2 wks ago, I started experiencing discomfort when my bottom teeth began hitting my palate as I chewed. My dentist diagnosed the situation, I needed braces to correct the overbite. I was devastated. When I met with the wonderful staff at Northcut Orthodontics, I was very nervous of what they would say i.e. 2 yrs of braces, however after a complete examination of my mouth, along with receiving Dr Winkler's excellent observation of the situation, he said he did not feel that the overbite was the root of my problem. He called my dentist on the spot, to give his recommendation of what he saw the problem to be. He then redirected me back to my dentist. Hooray for Dr Winkler's assessment, and the time he took to "educate me" on the situation. It was clear to me that this dr. knows his stuff, and has excellent bedside manners. Needless to say I was elated to learned that this grandma of 8, would not be walking around with braces!!!!!!!! read more
