I went to Harbor Square Dental on the recommendation of friends, and have been impressed and delighted! Front desk staff are warm and friendly, care is more thorough than I have ever experienced before, and while sitting in the dentist's chair is still not my favorite activity, I am very pleased indeed. An added benefit is that you are treated as an adult, which is not always the case with dentists! The irony is that my friends had actually recommended a different dentist on Dayton, but I misunderstood and came here. I am very happy with the results of my mistake! read more

Excellent experience all around. The hygienists and Dentists have an excellent "bedside" manner and are very gentle. The front desk provides an amazing greeting and makes you feel very welcomed. I have never been a fan of dentists and have had bad experiences all around with dentists. Harbor Square Dental has changed my opinion of dentists with their professionalism and experience. My review is about 3 years old and I wanted to update just how much I love the ladies here...I used to HATE going to the dentist! Now I actually look forward to going and chatting with Katie. When I first started going here I had some staining on my teeth, Katie cleaned them up and even pinpointed the source of the staining. Nothing but pearly whites for me now! Dr Serra is also just amazing (I haven't seen Dr Habib before)... last year I had chipped one of my front teeth just slightly. She explained exactly what she was going to do to fix it, but cautioned that because it is where the tooth is thin that I may have the problem again. 18 months later and it still looks amazing! Not sure why it took me so long to write this review. To give some context, i've been seen at HSD for about five years now. Every single time, they almost make fun of me and demean me. Not to mention, they are the opposite of gentle. My gums always sting, bleed, and burn which makes the situation extra unpleasant. My family is against me getting my wisdom teeth out because they pose no problem, but these ladies always try to convince me to get the procedure done. My mom has called multiple times telling them to leave me alone about this but they never have. As someone who has a lot of anxiety about the dentist, being disrespected and treated like a child whose never picked up a tooth brush the entire appointment is a real turn off. My whole family will be making the switch to a different dentist, because this is an ongoing problem for all three of us. (sister, mom, and I.) I highly recommend that you find another dentist that isn't so rude. read more

I always enjoy my experience at Harbor Square Dental! I love coming to my appointments because the front desk staff are always warm and welcoming, efficient and accommodating. Dr Winter is very knowledgeable and the hygienists always offer ways to help achieve good results at home. Both Dr Serra and Dr Winter each take their time and they are very thorough at each visit. I never feel rushed out of the office and I am treated like a whole person, I have been to other practices that that made me feel like I was just a dollar sign. Everyone is so caring and compassionate and very effective at correcting any issue that I may have. This dentist has been nickel and diming my husband and I throughout his procedures during the year. Suggesting that a cavity is all of a sudden thousands of dollars for a root canal is completely ridiculous. You would think they would have the decency to tell us the up front cost before performing that type of procedure on recent college grads who are paying for their own wedding and getting on their feet! Harbor Square Dental is the BEST dental office I have ever been to, no joke. The staff as a whole has always been super nice, and super professional. I have never left unhappy. The place is immaculate. Dr. Serra is, by the way, the BEST shot-giver in the universe! She is so gentle, the shots didn't hurt! At all. I just had 2 fillings plus she repaired an old mercury filling from years ago that had fallen out. No pain! She did them perfectly! I'm actually pretty amazed. And today, they all feel awesome! So I am pretty stoked on Harbor Square Dental. Her whole staff is awesome! I can't say enough good things about them, I could go on and on. And this is coming from someone who is not the most comfortable in a dentist chair. That's another thing though, I totally could have fallen asleep in their chair, so comfy. Time for a update! Hard to believe that I have coming to Dr. Serra and her staff for 10 years and even harder to believe is that in that entire time I have never had less then 5/5 star service. My wife (A Nurse Practitioner - Very picky about healthcare), all our sons, several friends and a few co-workers all agree this is the best Dentist in the area. I sent a co-worker to them who was really worried about being treated well and she thanked me 20 times. All I can say is that I would not give up this amazing Dentist and her staff unless I moved out of state and even then I might be tempted to come back if I had a serious issue. read more

I love this dentist, I have gone here for many years. It makes me feel like a trip to the dentist is a day at the spa. The waiting room has a fancy massage chair, good selection of magazine, a running water sculpture and a fancy coffee making machine (I do wonder why they want me to drink fancy coffee before going to the dentist, but whatever). If you want before you go back to your appointment you can get a parrafin hand dip which will keep your hands warm and toasty during your visit. Exam rooms have tvs and headphones, you can almost forget you are at the dentist. Of course everyone is nice too and they do a good job, but I used to dread the dentist now I go early and hope there is a long wait, unfortunately though they are always very fast. Super helpful too, I am changing insurance and the receptionist said she would call and get the scoop on my dental benefits for me, which I greatly appreciate. read more

Great dental office. I've been going there for almost 1 year and I've been very happy with all my cleanings and dental work I've had done (this includes a crown and fillings). They really want you to have a comfortable experience so if you aren't numb enough or comfortable they want to make sure you're completely comfortable before they start anything. They other GREAT thing about Harbor Square Dental is they offer free childcare through the Harbor Square Athletic Club next door. I'm not kidding! Your kids (even babies) can go and have fun and play while you're in the chair. I'm a stay-at-home dad so this childcare makes it possible to be a good boy and actually GO to the dentist as often as I should :) read more

I will start by saying the staff is great, and I received a decent cleaning. I was 'forced' to buy a toothpaste that was thrown in with my goodies and then was billed later. I understand that situations happen, but there was no offer to write off the charge, since I made it very clear that had I known about the cost of the toothpaste, I would not have accepted to take it. According the the lady that 'helped' me, she informed me that they needed to remind the assistants of this since it's happened before. Very frustrated, I changed dentists. There's only so much a parafin dip can do to make up for bad customer service. read more

Took my 16 month old baby to see Nicole for his first dentist appointment. Going in I was very nervous as I am very over protective of my first born baby and was worried he would be crying the entire time while the dentist checked his teeth... totally not the case. The staff is absolutely fantastic, and we were treated very well. Nicole was very patient and gentle with my son and we left the appointment armed with a lot of strategies on how to get him off the bottle at night. read more

My wife and I spent five years getting our dental care at Harbor Square Dental. Initially our experiences were fairly good. One summer, my wife needed to have a crown done. There were complications and she ended up being in excruciating pain and on pain medication for a fair amount of the summer and the crown from start to finish took several months. Dr Serra said she felt bad about her experience and offered to do one of the two additional crowns my wife would need in the future at her own expense. Sounds good, right? Shortly thereafter, Dr Serra decided to have children and was out of the office for quite some time. In the meantime, she had us start seeing another dentist in her practice, who turned out to be excellent, and more attentive and available. Fast forward a couple years. My wife now needs to get the additional two crowns done. Dr Serra insisted that she do the work, even though my wife was now comfortable and established with the other dentist in her office and would have preferred to stay with her. Dr Serra got upset with us when my wife became suddenly ill and had to cancel ONE of the 90 minute appointments. When I rescheduled the appointment, she made a smarmy comment about how important it was that we make the rescheduled appointment. It felt like she was treating us like one of her children and as if she was doing us some gigantic favor. My wife simply asked her "who the hell do you think you are?" She completed the crown work, and then dropped us as patients. She appears "nice" on the outside, but she has serious control issues. read more

I don't generally write reviews but the team at Harbor Square Dental is just that good. I have been dealing with intense tooth pain for almost 5 years now. I have seen several general dentists, periodontists, and other specialists. After spending thousands of dollars on this painful tooth and eventually having it removed completely, I ended up going to Harbor Square Dental. I was at the end of my rope with this tooth pain still present almost a year after having the tooth pulled. Dr. Serra suggested a new treatment on the tooth just behind my problem tooth to see if it would help. It has been 3 weeks and I have not had ANY more pain episodes! Its amazing! Not only did they help my dental needs but they have complimentary childcare at a beautiful facility at the nearby health club, massage chair, I pad/Netflix, hot wax hand treatments, and a toy box for my little 2 y/o who came to a quick appointment with me. The staff dropped what they were doing and helped my scared toddler calm down and play with them while I had my night guard adjusted. It was AMAZING! I'm so happy with the care we've received here. You cannot go wrong...and this is coming from someone who has spent years working with multiple dental offices. This is the best by far! read more
