My wife has very high levels of anxiety around dentists, so when our previous dentist of 10 years retired, it was a difficult time for her. I went first, and explained it to the staff and arranged for a simple 1 hour first visit. When she got there, they insisted I had told them she wanted a 2 hour visit using nitrous oxide. My wife called me, and I needed to clear it up on the phone because they wouldn't listen to her in the office. When I went in for a simple 1 hour cleaning, they insisted they wanted to do a whitening process that would take 2 hours. When I refused that service, they sent me a letter refusing any further service. All I heard was very nice words, but in this case, actions speak louder.

I'll preface this by saying that my anxiety around dental procedures seems to be getting worse, not better, but thanks to Dr. Jarrett and his staff, I continue to get treatment. I was really anxious about my recent crown appointment and multiple things kept getting in the way, causing met to reschedule, which only added to the anxiety. Thankfully, Dr. Jarrett's office offers nitrous (for a small-ish fee). What I sincerely appreciate about his staff is that they don't judge when they know you need the nitrous to get through your appointment. I've never felt pressured NOT to get it. In fact, one of the staff members noticed that I didn't have it on there for my 2 week follow up, asked me about it, and promptly added it on. Anywho, the day comes, and I'm laying back in the chair, waiting, for the "party" to get started. Dr. Jarrett comes in, we catch up, he explains what's going to happen today and why he's placing the crown. Anxiety is, of course, building, I'm starting to sweat, and I just really don't want to be there, but this cracked tooth ain't gonna heal itself. Randomly, I'm just trying to think of anything that will make this better and I overhear the office music that's playing. I asked if any other patients were in the office at the time (I always book a late appointment), they say yes, one other, and I wonder out loud if we can turn the music up. Dr. Jarrett was like, "absolutely. We can turn it up on this side of the office." I don't know where this staff member came from, but almost immediately a voice asks if there's anything specific I want to listen to. At first, I was like, "No, I'm good." And then immediately followed up with, "Wait! Is Prince an option?" Ya'll when I tell you the relief that washed over me when they were all like, "We got you!" I can't even articulate. "1999" starts playing, the energy of the staff increases even though they're already SUPER friendly and I relax just a bit more. That is, until it's time for the needle... I had to ask for a break 3 or 4 times during the procedure, and each time Dr. Jarrett was immediately responsive, patient, and reassuring. He let me know where we were at each point in the procedure and let me know that I was doing great. I really have no justification for my anxiety as I've never had a truly bad experience, but my fear of dental pain is top notch. Dr. Jarrett and his team are so thoughtful, kind, patient, and accommodating that I know my family and I will be patients for years to come.

He was very kind and told me they would do a payment plan for the $630 out of pocket. On the day of my visit I had the procedure started and a temporary crown seeded when leaving the gal at the front desk asked if I was paying card or check? I proceeded to tell her about my phone conversation with Dr. M and it blew up the room! Instantly her temperament changed and she went to get the other gal from the office, I was so taken back by how they handled this situation and basically told I was lying, I just said I would wait for them to talk to Dr. M it never got better!!! They were visibly angry as if i was making it all up. Today was the day for me to get my crown, what an uncomfortable situation. As soon as my name was called to go go back I was taken to the desk for payment I hadn't been provided the service yet and I told the gal everything I've written here. It wasn't the misunderstanding from Dr. M providing the information about doing a payment plan, it was how it was handled so very, poorly. I really expected an apology . I refused to give them a credit card or 3 posted dated checks, just the $200 today they will get the other two payments scheduled but why on earth would I show them any respect or trust with my accounts after how they treated me. I'm in disbelief of their conduct. Last, but not least! Had the front desk answered the phone so the doctor didn't, this never would have happened and the entire outcome would be much different.

Their office also offers fluoride, which I hadn't gotten done in a decade or more. Dr. Park is open about what needs to be watched, what should be worked on, and also when things should be done based on urgency. They also give goody bags with sensitivity toothpaste, which I haven't seen any dentist do. My last dentist used to do all manual scaling, so the main issue I've been having to adjust to is that they use electric scaling here. I usually don't like electric scaling, and I left one of my past dentists because the electric scaling kept hurting me, but it seems I can handle it here slightly better. I've had a different hygienist each visit, and they each do things slightly differently, especially when it comes to flossing.

Through luck and serendipity, I was able to find my dental hygienist Nicole who had moved to Gentling Smiles in Shoreline (across from the Costco). Huzzah! I was so happy to have Nicole do my x-rays (full, comprehensive set) and clean my teeth again. Nicole is both gentle and very thorough. Best hygienist ever and super nice. It was great to meet Dr. Christensen and she was friendly and personable. My exam was efficient and went well. The office staff here are very welcoming. The waiting area is clean and comfortable. Front desk staff are warm and friendly, care is more thorough than I have ever experienced before, and while sitting in the dentist's chair is still not my favorite activity, I am very pleased indeed. An added benefit is that you are treated as an adult, which is not always the case with dentists! The irony is that my friends had actually recommended a different dentist on Dayton, but I misunderstood and came here. I am very happy with the results of my mistake!
