Anevay at the front desk is very friendly, welcoming and efficient. Ashanta is outstanding - funny, charming, personable and very good at what she does. Amanda explained the charges thoroughly and she is warm, communicative, and professional. Dr. Lowe is the best! He is caring, knowledgeable, and truly excellent at what he does. He takes the time to listen, answer questions, and make sure the patient feels comfortable. He also has to be the fastest and most expert oral surgeon I've ever seen. He had two extractions to do for my mom and she was in and out in less than 30 minutes with almost no swelling, minimal pain, and very smooth healing. He's a unicorn! Dr. Lowe took out my wisdom tooth and put in grafting. I had asked him to be gentle with my jaw, as I have tmj. I also asked that when I'm put out, that I'm not aware at all, due to my anxiety. He accomplished them both! Zero jaw pain, and to my surprise, zero pain at the site. He was easy to talk to, friendly, listened to all of my concerns beforehand. The staff have all been super friendly and professional. I called many times, when I had questions and never did I feel like they were tired of hearing from me. Update: My son did not seem to be experiencing any pain, and the surgery was done in a decent amount of time, efficiently. The post-op personnel were friendly and professional. The oral surgeon called me into his office after my review to question me about my review and to communicate that the policy told us originally at the front desk of requiring a car be waiting on site during the procedure was not accurate. He eventually apologized for the service experienced from the front desk person. They do not require a car to be waiting on site. This is a policy clarification that made it much more accessible for those with disabilities or older patients reliant on outside transportation services or who no longer drive themselves. If we hadn't had the experience of poor communication/service pre-op, it would have been a 5 star for the op itself and post op. My teenage son had a routine dental cleaning and Xrays back in early May. It was determined he needed all four wisdom teeth extracted. Our dental office provided a referral to Edmonds Oral Surgery. Independently, I checked Washington State Dental Association's website to check providers backgrounds. I decided to make the referral appointment with Dr. Alan Sato. The entire appointment process was very professional and seamless, the person I spoke with was very thorough and worked with our busy family schedule. I was even provided forms to complete ahead of time. Their website was also very informative. The business location is adjacent to Stevens/Swedish Hospital in Edmonds which is convenient for this northender's work site and my son's high school. Pleasant waiting room, big aquarium, variety of reading material, and nice reception staff. We had the initial consultation where the treatment plan was thoroughly detailed and given time to ask questions. This was important since my son was to undergo anesthesia (5/30/18). The actual oral surgery was about a two hour process for the four wisdom teeth to be extracted and including recovery time. (6/25/18) One notable service was the post-operatve packet, pain management instructions, and a soft foods bag. The oral surgery did not have any complications. The first two days are all about rest, keeping the swelling down, and pain management. Following their instructions are key to healing properly. But be reassured, there is followup support, if needed. His post-op follow up appointment was thorough (7/2/18) and deemed a success. The potential for orthodontia (braces) were avoided with this oral surgery procedure. I greatly appeciated how my dental office referred us to an outstanding oral surgery practice. Dr. Ryskalczyk is incredible! I needed my wisdom teeth removed and I checked on Yelp for oral surgery closet to me, I found this wonderful office next to Swedish Edmonds. They were able to get me in next day for a consult and surgery following day! All the staff was very friendly and great to work with. The facility is nice and easy parking. All the staff explained the process and all the details very well. I left with no unanswered questions. Now for Dr. Ryskalczyk.. he is so knowledgeable and patient! I have terrible TMJ and he took the time to explain to me how I wouldn't need surgery to fix it and that he would be extra careful of it while extracting my wisdom teeth. I learned so much from just that consult! I can really tell he is passionate about what he does. The procedure went well. My TMJ did not hurt. I was very happy with the entire procedure. But then a few days later I started experiencing severe pain from the extraction. I spoke with the doc over the phone and he told me I may have dry socket. He came in on his day off to clean it out and put some sort of medicine in there. That was a little painful but so worth it because it helped so much! My ex husband is a dentist (divorced now) but I remember how much he would hate coming in on his days off for non emergencies. This was not my first time experience with them. My son also had some work done in the past in regards to his wisdom teeth. It had to be done - regardless. It was quick and worked out well. I chose this place because it's the closest and referred by our dentist. For my visit? lt turned out well and in a timely manner. My doctor gave me the run down, it was short and nice. Then, I went to lala land. I wasn't completely out but it felt like I was. I was very relaxed and no worries. They explained accordingly and step by step what's coming my way. After at least seemed 45 mins, I was done. All in all, staff is always helpful and up front. They are familiar with the whole set-up most importantly costs. I like that they are very straight forward and offer extra assistance in regards to questions and concerns. Well done. They are professional one-way although, could use a little more warmth in greetings or welcoming in my opinion. I do like the "straight to the point" "lets do this" kind of thing but when it comes with involvement in patient care, it's not always about insurances and paper work. A little finesse in care means a form of discretion and comfort which helps all for a better outcome. Just saying which, I believe a constructive input. For examples, "How are you?", How did pre-op go? Are you ready? Can I get you a lip balm? Ask me for my paper work next. Something like that... I did hope for a phone call afterwards and I got it. Hands down the best! I have a massive dental phobia which prompted me to wait about 10 years too long to get my impacted wisdom teeth extracted. Not only did Edmonds Oral Surgery work with me to get me in as soon as possible they put me on a short list in case of any cancellations. From the moment I walked into their office I felt better.. My doctor was Dr. Heldridge. Not only does this man know his stuff he's an all around great guy! He put me at ease with his professionalism and assured me that I'm making a mountain out of a molehill(Anxiety on my end). It's no surprise that he was 100% correct! My consultation was on a Thursday and they had my surgery scheduled the following Monday. Dr. Heldridge assured me there was nothing to worry about and to not to go into the weekend stressed out. Monday came around and I was in and out in about 45 minutes! No nausea from the anesthesia and my mouth didn't even hurt after the meds wore off! Dr. Matt Ryskalczyk saved my life. I had a routine wisdom tooth extraction at my dentist that got infected. I had an abscess in my jaw that grew after the wisdom teeth extraction. Dr Ryskalczyk drove 40 minutes at 1 AM to come see me in the Emergency Room. He performed my surgery the following day and drained nearly all of the infection from my neck. He is a miracle worker. As someone who has never been admitted to a hospital, I was extremely nervous about the surgery. He made me comfortable and confident in the process. He came to see me the following day and removed the tube from my neck with out me even noticing. He was truly the best possible surgeon I could have asked for. I want to thank him and his team for getting me through this tough time, and for truly saving my life. Had an awful experience with a wisdom teeth removal through Edmonds Oral Surgery. You arrive once before your surgery so you can meet your surgeon and ask any questions you have. However, whatever surgeon you happen to see that day is now assigned to you. So, if they happen to be sick, gone, on vacation or not perform surgeries on the only days that work with your schedule it's a hassle to get another surgeon to perform it. The pre-surgery session is a joke. No helpful advice, reluctant to answer questions, kept referring me to a 2-page pamphlet. My surgery was preformed by Dr. Brinkman. She was fantastic (of what I remember). Very comforting and friendly. After the surgery became a nightmere. The pain relief gave me unbearable nausea. However, when I tried to reach the office I couldn't even reach a dr and someone told me I had no options, they wouldn't give me anything to stop the discomfort. My choices were either pain or buried in the toilet (which is AWFUL after Oral surgery). Finally, (at recommendation of my nurse, doctor and pharmacist) I obtained a dissolving tablet that cured my nausea extremely rapidly. After doing so, Dr. Heldrige called me at home and began to harrass me, a day or so out of surgery and on pain meds! He was offended I had not followed the generic advice the office had already offered me (suck it up) and also harassed for "timing" this fiasco a few hours before his weekend began. JUST AWFUL. My after visit was on my birthday. My appointment was ONE HOUR LATE. Only when I asked (after the 2nd time) and mentioned it was my birthday was i IMMEDIATLY seen. There was only one other person waiting and there was staff everywhere. After, we followed up with the office. The manager could not care less. She was rude and again accused me of undermining the surgeons authority. After 2 letters, the office proved that they did not care about the customers experience. CONS: - Awful customer service (reluctant to answer questions, don't care about your recovery) - Reaching the dr after surgery, or any after surgery advice - ANYTHING WITH DR HELDRIDGE PROS: - Dr. Brinkman WAS Fantastic. BEWARE! This place chargers you a hundreds of $$$ as deposit even IF you have insurance. That seemed suspicious to me but I went ahead and paid the deposit. In my case for a 1600 dollar procedure they demanded a $580 deposit. I made the payment. It has been SEVEN months since I had the procedure done and 4 since the EOB was issued and they received payment from my insurance. I have left multiple message demanding my money back, I get responses of the sort " the account is on vacations" " we will call you back" . They own me about $450. They claim the own me about $100 dollars less than that.... I am still fighting. I AM SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THEY HAVE TRIED TO SCAM WITH THIS DEPOSIT SYSTEM. Uncomfortable. Money and getting paid centric. That was the forefront to how we felt during our HOUR long ($220) visit for a CONSULTATION. A consultation that they asked us to move up 30 minutes ( and thus, leave work that much earlier) and then make us wait 40 minutes. They say "Bring comfort to you...", yet comfort is nowhere to be found in this office. While the Doctor (Dr. Sato) was VERY nice and VERY personable and forthcoming, the staff seemed disinterested... even strapping a BP test on my son then leaving for 15 minutes... she had to retake it because the machine had shut off. Names? No, they don't introduce themselves, other than the doctor (again, great). NONE of the nurses introduced themselves, and half the visit was reviewing legal docs and financial obligations and signing a bunch of crap. The visit ended with some lady (again, no introduction, other than the 'finance person' or something like that), who came in with her Plantronics headset still on her head talking about our obligations and finishing with, "so, I just need to collect the $42 for each boy now"... while still in the EXAM room!! Oh, and beating into us that payment is due 3 days prior to service. FULL payment. RED LIGHT!! So yeah, the doc is the show... but, would you really sit in a restaurant that has the most fabulous cook yet the WORST servers?? No!! Dr. Sato needs to clear out the staff, restructure the client intake format and make his patients feel warm and fuzzy... not like their credit cards are more important than their comfort. My take? I was very impressed by all the staff and doctors here. At my first consultation appointment they gave me plenty of information to help prepare me for my surgery (removing all 4 wisdom teeth). Everyone is genuinely kind and makes you feel very taken care of. I was nervous about the surgery up until I entered the office where I met with a receptionist who sweetly and promptly attended to my needs. Within 5 minutes I was led back to the surgery room, helped by the doctor's assistant, and any trace of nerves I had walking in were far gone. When she told me it was time to go lay down I literally thought we had just gotten started! My husband drove me home as I was in an out of sleep. It's only been about 6 hours since I had the surgery and - besides some swelling and a little bleeding - I feel awesome. Yes, the procedure was pricey (I have no dental coverage) but I believe it's worth paying the money to have something done well by people who see you as more than "just another patient." They seem to care about the ultimate well-being of their patients, and do their best to give you an experience that demonstrates that. They deserve a better Yelp score in my opinion. I'm not here to complain about the price, it's health care, no matter where you go it's going to be the same vacuum in your wallet. I'm a nervous person, I never had surgery before. I put my faith in Dr. Sato and he came through like a CHAMP! I was a deeply impoverished child so for about 15 years I did not have dental insurance (or any other insurance for that matter). I had ALL 4 impacted wisdoms with some bone loss to the neighboring teeth. The outlook was not great for me. I was probably going to be in a lot of pain afterwards.... Was I? NOPE! I know everyone has different recovery speeds but I was eating solid normal food the next day (DONT try this yourself, haha I'm a professional pig). I didn't need to take the pain meds at all, at all. It didn't hurt, more of a hum of discomfort. No swelling. I mean c'mon, those are some pretty talented hands Dr. Sato. The receptionists are awesome. I met 3 of them, they were helpful and offered me juice and water on a hot day. Schedule and changing appointments were a breeze. The location...tho..it's pretty hard to find. Tucked away near a slew of hospitals and care centers. You walk along 76th W and 216th until you see the blue emergency sign then turn down right at the sign bam Edmonds Oral Surgery! "Freebies" like lip balm, oatmeal, tofu, apple sauce, pudding etc to take home. The nurse gave them to me. Yummy! The 1 week FOLLOW UP appointment is literally 5 minutes, you go in they gift you that syringe to spray the holes of your now gone teeth and Dr.Sato takes one last look to see the progress. All green and you're done! Yayyyy! They also let me keep my removed teeth in a bag haha morbid. read more

I have been to Edmonds Oral Surgery (EOS) on three (3) occasions. I went in for a exam of a tooth that needed to be extracted and readied for an implant. I then returned to have the tooth extracted. Great staff, great surgical assistants, great surgeons. As per my dentist, I need to have a possible crown lengthening for crown placement and if the crown lengthening is not possible (due to exposure of the tooth furcation) then to have extraction of the tooth and readied for implants. The front desk / greeting / scheduling staff is polite, friendly and considerate of the needs of the patient. The surgical assistant staff are compassionate, educated and dedicated to patient care and comfort. The surgeons are some of the best in the area and are well-versed in all areas of dental surgery needs and operations. read more

I am very surprised and pleased by this place. I was referred by my dentist and weary from my husband going to a different place in Edmonds and having a horrible experience. But I can honestly say I am so happy after my consultation and I feel like I am taken care of here. My first call to this place was amazing I wasn't rushed through anything and the lady on the phone was pleasant and patient with all of my questions. They were able to bump my appointment up ahead of time and fit me in so I could get my wisdom teeth out sooner since they were bothering me. The gal that took my x rays was helpful, patient and nice. After meeting Dr. Sato who was pleasant even after just coming from surgery, the cost of everything was explained by Michelle clearly and I received a copy of everything for my records. So happy so far with the professionalism of the staff and Drs. at edmonds oral surgery. I called via a referral from our family dentist. The soonest they could schedule a consultation was over a month away. I worked with the receptionist (feel bad that i forgot her name) . I made the appt. and the receptionist told me that she would contact us if any appts. Opened up sooner. Sure enough an appt. did open up and we were seen within days of calling. During the consultation we were made to feel extremely welcome and all of our questions were answered. Let me just start with, if you have never had the pleasure of picking a parent up from oral surgery you are missing out! I have not been a patient here, but my mom has. She needed to have dental work done that required dental surgery. If you have ever been the driver in this situation you know that when you drop your person off, the office requires you to stay for the duration of the procedure until they are ready for you to take them home. The only interaction I had in this office was with Emma. She came out to get my mom and at the same time let me know what to expect as well as an expected wait time. I saw her again as she was helping my mom to my car. She gave me a bag with snacks my mom could have, her prescriptions, and some gauze. She included after care instructions and went over them with me letting me know what to expect once I took my mom home including when she could try eating and when she should start taking her meds. Emma was very engaging and thorough, even complementing my mom on how sweet she was. My mom was very happy with her experience here and let me know that this is where she wants to come back if she needs any more work done. Mom approved. read more

Hello. I recently got my wisdom teeth removed from here and I wanted to share my experience. For background: like many people, I've had an extreme fear of the dentist for as long as I can remember, and I also have an anxiety disorder, which doesn't help. I've been having some dental issues surrounding my wisdom teeth for over a year. My wisdom tooth on the top right side was broken and pretty much missing the top part. Surprisingly I didn't have any pain with this unless I put too much pressure on that side. I was supposed to get my wisdom teeth removed last December, but the dentist I was scheduled to go to wouldn't put me under. Because of my extreme anxiety, was adamant about being put to sleep, so I didn't go to my appointment. So months go by and I still have a broken tooth. Then in September this year, a small piece of my top wisdom tooth on my left side broke off. And my bottom left wisdom tooth started to decay, which caused me immense pain. In late October/early November the pain from my decayed tooth became unbearable and I got an infection, which I had to take antibiotics for. Despite my fears, I knew it was time to get my teeth out. So I began researching places in my area and scheduled a consultation with Edmonds Oral Surgery. At my consultation, the staff was very friendly and my doctor reassured my that everything would be fine! I felt very relieved to know that I would be put under, which was my main concern. So the day of my surgery gets here (11/29). I'm very nervous and constantly shaking. My nurse talked to me as she prepped me and reassured me that all would be fine and I had nothing to worry about. When the doctor came in, I began to get emotional as I was very scared, so the doctor ordered for my medication to be administered to help me relax. The last thing I remember was sniffling lol. I woke up some time later, very out of it. The videos my sister has of me are hilarious! But my recovery was great! I stuck to taking my medication on the scheduled times the first day, and now I'm on day 3 and basically taking it when I feel it's necessary. I've had little to no pain, which I wasn't expecting but I'm very happy about. I was just recently seen at Edmonds Oral Surgery for the extraction of a cracked wisdom tooth. It was a problem because I have been having very complicated facial pain on that side and we were unsure if the pain was actually coming from the tooth or now. I had a complete pre-surgical consultation but before I could have the surgery, the problem got worse. I called the office and explained. Dr. Heldrich immediately put me on antibiotics, wrote me a prescription for pain medication and the office got me re-scheduled for the surgery. I had not consulted initially with Dr. Heldrich but he was the surgeon available for the procedure. He is very good from a technical stand point. I had conscious sedation and the entire affair was over very quickly. Since the surgery I have had quite bit of pain bit I developed what appears to have been a type of "dry socket" and have been going back every few days for packing in the site. Dr. Heldrich helps me every time and has been great. The staff was super nice, when I called or came in and did everything they could to work around my scheduling needs. Extremely professional. I also become nauseated with pain medication and I always take it with something on my stomach. After this type of surgery it is important to understand: 1. You will have pain. Follow your post op instructions. Ice, elevate your head, fluids, soft foods. 2. Take your pain medications as directed. The object here is to pain relief, not go into a coma from your pain meds and this can ba accomplished with smaller amounts of pain medication than one might think. 3. First of all I want to mention that I am not one to write poor reviews but in light of what occurred today I felt it necessary to warn others about Dr. O'Neil and the extremely unfortunate experience I had with him during my consultation. It was difficult for me to get an appointment but since I had heard wonderful things about this practice and their oral surgeons plus they were conveniently located close to my home so it seemed like the best choice. When I talked with the receptionist I told her that I was pregnant and referred by my general dentist and also had clearance from my OB/GYN. She did not express any concerns and I was also able to schedule a tentative surgery time that worked well with my busy work schedule. It sounded like everything was going to work out perfectly and I would be able to get this taken care of and relieve my discomfort before my son is born so I was very pleased. Before even meeting the doctor I was told I needed to have an X-ray done even though I had just had extensive X-rays and in mouth photographs taken at my general dentist two weeks earlier. In those X-rays the wisdom teeth were clearly visible because I told him that they were of concern to me and I wanted him to have a further look. The dental hygienist claimed that couldn't see the roots so they felt another X-ray was necessary which was not the case since Dr. O'Neil didn't gather any further information than my general dentist. When Dr. O'Neil walked in I could immediately sense his attitude. He barely introduced himself before mentioning that I picked an extremely poor time to try and have this procedure done. My general dentist referred me to Edmonds Oral Surgery and because of the discomfort I told him I was experiencing he told me that they would be able to help me if I could get in before the end of my second trimester. I came in with clearance from my OB/GYN for procedures using "local anesthetic, 2% Lidocaine with or without epinephrine, and use of prescription Acetaminophen with Codeine or Vicodin if needed for pain". Dr. O'Neil immediately began stating how I would absolutely have to receive general anesthesia and that I would not be able to handle local. I feel it important to mention that my grandfather was a dentist and had his own practice for over forty years. I am quite familiar with what is necessary since he performed several wisdom tooth extractions. General anesthesia should really only be used at the request of the patient or if complications are anticipated. I have had a flawless pregnancy, am not high risk and have already had some work done at my general dentist office without any issues. Also, all of my friends and family members that have had their wisdom teeth removed have not had general anesthesia in order to perform the procedure. Most received a local anesthetic and came through the procedure completely fine. I was never told when I called to make my appointment or when I arrived that general anesthesia would be pushed on me so vigorously. I told Dr. O'Neil regardless of me being pregnant or not that I had no intention of being put under for this procedure. He insisted further and said "my wife and three children were all put under so what does that tell you?!" adding a rude smirk on his face. Well that simply tells me that general anesthesia was their preference not a necessity. I also asserted that I was disappointed that none of these concerns were brought up when I made my appointment or scheduled the tentative surgery appointment time. I told him of my extremely busy work schedule and how I now have limited time to get this done. He snapped back that he would not be pressured into doing this surgery. That wasn't my point at all but simply expressing that his staff should be better prepared and make patients aware of these types of issues ahead of time. Plus, if he didn't want to be pressured into performing the surgery why should he feel the need to pressure me into receiving general anesthesia? I also told him about the clearance I received from my OB/GYN and brought paperwork with me from her office as proof. After discussing that with him he insisted upon calling her office even though I mentioned she was out on vacation and also calling my general dentist. After 15 minutes he came back asserting that he spoke with a nurse in the office and that they absolutely said I was not cleared for general anesthesia. WELL, I could of told him that because it doesn't list general anesthesia on the clearance paperwork I brought in and I told him I didn't want that anyways. In the time that I spoke with Dr. O'Neil I came away with the thoughts that he was brash, unprofessional, hostile and completely lacking any sense of sympathy. He left a terrible first impression and had he been kind or expressed his concerns in a sympathetic manner I would have been inclined to schedule the surgery with him for a later date after my son is born. read more

I had 7 bad teeth removed yesterday in 1.5 hours and can whistle and smile today. This is the best doctor's office in terms of efficiency, speed and friendliness. Not quite a drive- through oral surgery clinic, but almost that fast. I received a professional welcome folder with their business card and all the info. I would need regarding my surgery. They're even going to have me come in for a follow up visit free of charge to make sure my mouth is healing properly. I have hardly any pain today after yesterday's surgery and without pain pills. These people are artisans, not mere dentists/doctors and really know their craft. If I had to come back in the future for another surgery, it would be a welcome experience and a relief to be in such competent hands. read more

Recently had my wisdom teeth pulled here and I could not recommend them more. Dr. O'Neil was so great! Very informative about the procedure and made me feel feel at ease about my first big dental procedure. The staff were so kind and personable. We went in today for my daughter's consult and I am so bothered about how rude the surgical assistant, Emma was. I did not go in to my daughter's consult because she is an adult but when we were checking out I had a quick easy question, and Emma says to me, you probably should of sat in on the consult if you had any questions. O really? Nope, I think not, she's an adult; I just had a quick easy question. I left there so bothered by her RUDE comment to me. What happened to good customer service?? Just had my wisdom teeth out & had a very good experience. All of the staff from the front desk, dentist & assistants were extremely professional & helpful. The waiting room is very comfortable, offering coffee & drinks for those that are waiting while you are in surgery. I felt at ease during the first appointment and they took the time to explain the procedure and answered all of my questions. The day of the surgery they were very quick to get me in and I was done in about an hour. I did have to pay my portion of the bill not covered by insurance up front, but that is fine with me as a lot goes into these procedures & I'm sure people back out all the time. This way I was paid & had to go, no excuses! =) I would recommend Edmonds Oral Surgery to any friends & family that need oral surgery for sure. read more
