Just had my wisdom teeth out & had a very good experience. All of the staff from the front desk, dentist & assistants were extremely professional & helpful. The waiting room is very comfortable, offering coffee & drinks for those that are waiting while you are in surgery. I felt at ease during the first appointment and they took the time to explain the procedure and answered all of my questions. The day of the surgery they were very quick to get me in and I was done in about an hour. I did have to pay my portion of the bill not covered by insurance up front, but that is fine with me as a lot goes into these procedures & I'm sure people back out all the time. Amazing experience!!!! Had my first implant and wasnt sure what to really expect but what I had been told. Well the experience was better than I had been told. Never took even an ibuprofen. This place just wants YOUR MONEY! And they will charge you for whatever they can and add fees without a reason. I went in for a consultation to get my wisdom teeth pulled, I knew my insurance wasn't going to cover for my xrays, so made my peace with paying the $91 out of pocket, after the appointment I paid for the xrays and was given a receipt and told my balance was 0. Then 3months later I get a bill from them saying I owe them $17 plus a $3 late fee for being 3months past due! And on top of that they placed a sticker on it saying "pay NOW".. Are you serious? I called and they couldn't explain to me the charges and the person in charge of that was not there and won't be back until the following week. When I talked to her, she tried to say it was my insurance fault because my insurance's fees could vary and they weren't always the same. Which is actually a lie! Because I even called my insurance and they said that isnt true and every dental office has and knows what their fees are, not to mention that consultations are actually covered at 100% by my insurance. I went to pay the balance in person and requested a copy of my xrays and took them with me. I will admit that the doctor was nice and very knowledgeable, but I will never go back to this place nor will I ever give them any more of my or my insurance's money! I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled all at once back in 2017 at this office. The doctor I worked with was extremely disrespectful to me and conceitful. He was also accusitive and insensitive. I should have noted it and found someone else, but because of my busy work schedule, I decided to just get the surgery over with. BIG MISTAKE. I woke up after my surgery in severe pain and was told by the nurse to basically suck it up and that I was lying. She rushed me out and refused to listen to me. I was only given a day's worth of pain medication. Several days after my surgery I had a follow up appointment where I asked for more pain medication, as the majority of my time up until then was spent sobbing on my bed unable to go to work from intense pain and migraines caused by the surgery. The doctor accused me of being a drug addict and told me to take Advil. Spent almost four weeks without any form of relief from my pain before the pain started to subside. My suggestion is that you DO NOT get your oral surgery here. read more

I had Dr. Sato perform the removal of my wisdom teeth, and it was a very successful and painless procedure. The procedure itself, I can't remember, but the care I received afterwards was fantastic, and it made the recovery process seem miniscule. My oldest daughter had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out at Edmonds Oral Surgery and it could not have gone better. She healed quickly and was playing soccer the next week. When it came time for my younger two kids to have their wisdom teeth out, we would not have considered anywhere else. My son has hemophilia, which makes any surgery complicated, but Dr. Sato worked with his hemotologist to make sure all went smoothly, which it did. He called to check on him at home, and even followed up with an extra visit to make sure his clots were holding. They both healed wonderfully. The care and professionalism is wonderful. From the first consultation appointment to my surgery day was amazing. The whole staff made me feel very comfortable with the whole procedure! I saw Dr. O'Neil and I think his surgery assistant was Emma. They were fantastic! The assistant made me feel so much better by explaining everything was gonna happen and Dr. O'Neil came in with a smile. From that moment on I don't remember much. My son had his wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Sato. We scheduled the procedure on a Friday so it wouldn't interfere with his school schedule. We had a pre-surgical consultation at which time everything was explained in great detail. When we arrived at the office the day of the procedure, we were greeted and my son was escorted to the back in order to prep for the surgery. After a short time I was escorted to the room where my son was and met with Dr. Sato, at which time he advised us again on what to expect following this type of procedure. I took my son home and later that day received a follow up phone call from their office, just to check in. The entire staff were very professional and Dr. Sato was exact with his explanation on what to expect before, during and after the procedure. I have seen Dr. Heldridge several times now. The first time I needed multiple complicated extractions before the start of orthodontia treatment and to prepare me for an implant when my orthodontia is complete. Because it was going to be a pretty complicated procedure, they brought in an anesthesiologist and put me out completely, which I really appreciated. Waking up from anesthesia was pretty disorienting. They handed me a bag of stuff (I thought it was funny that the bag o' swag had a plastic cup and straw that I couldn't use for fear of a dry socket), gave me and my sister instructions and prescriptions, and then I was sleepily led out to the car. The healing for this procedure went very well, and within a week all of my swelling/pain was gone and I was back to my normal routine. The worst part were the stitches that were between my teeth from where they had to sew my palate back on, and even that was only mildly annoying. The reason I went to Dr. Heldridge was that I was referred to him by several doctors, all of whom said he was the person they would go to if they needed an implant. Additionally, my sister went there when she had to have her wisdom teeth out and she had a really great experience. I am now in the process of getting the implant for my cuspid (that poor baby tooth did its job for 35 years), and I am really glad that I chose Dr. Heldridge to perform all of my procedures. He is pretty matter of fact with his examinations, but I find him personable, reassuring, and kind. It is expensive, and I think I can understand the shell shock experienced by other reviewers. What I don't understand is their feeling that they felt rushed or pressured by the people who came in to give them the quote and talk about paying for the procedure. First of all, the consultation does not cost $200, it is the scan that they do of your head that costs that much. And yes, you need it. You can't really expect them to go digging around in your jaw and not know what they are going to find in there. For instance, in my first consultation for the implant a couple months ago, Dr. Heldridge found a dark spot around the root of the tooth next to where the implant was going to go. He said that he did not feel comfortable about moving forward until an endodontist had taken a look at the film, and referred me to a doctor that was nearby. It turns out that I had developed an abscess around an old root canal, and I had to have it fixed before I could have the implant done. If the doctor had not had the image to look at, he would not have known that there was a problem. If he had done the implant, it would have failed because he would have been trying to attach it to deteriorating infected bone. So you know what? I am more than happy to pay for the scans since insurance won't cover it. As for the person who comes in to discuss the financial obligations, I can say hands down that this is very normal. Over the past two years I have had enough doctors and dentists digging around in my mouth to last me a lifetime, and every time there was something really expensive that needed to be done, I had the exact same talk with one of their financial people and had to sign the same kind of paperwork. I have also had to have this talk and sign similar statements of financial responsibility when having a regular surgery done. Yes, if your insurance doesn't cover it, you are financially responsible for the cost of treatment. And yes, it is expensive. If you don't like the cost, then don't schedule the procedure. Just tell them that you need to look at your options. Maybe ask if there is a way that you can do a payment plan. You can ask for a copy of your scan on a CD, and then go get a second opinion and estimate. If you are going to pay several thousands of dollars for something like an implant, you need to have personal accountability for making sure that you are comfortable with the person you are giving your money to. I have not seen any of the other doctors there, so I don't feel comfortable saying anything about them. But I appreciate Dr. Heldridge's forthright and cautious approach to my care. When I went to the endodontist, he was concerned about the life of tooth, and thought it might be a better idea to extract it. He consulted with Dr. Heldridge (who would have been the one to make all the money on an extraction), and Dr. Heldridge felt strongly that we should try to preserve the natural tooth for as long as possible. I see someone else got taken the same way I did, but I got more to say about my first and second experience with Edmonds Oral Surgery in Edmonds WA. First off, let me make it clear that my first visit was good except for a couple of things, I had seen another dentist on the previous Friday for what felt like a toothache, and I was without a job or any insurance at all, so I made it clear to everyone as to my situation. It didn't make a difference to the former dentist business as they told me I had 3 cavities on that lower back side and that was probably what was causing the pain, So about $600 later I walked out still numb from treatment, only to find the pain right back that Friday night, as soon as Novocain wore off. Knew I'd be taken at Lynnwood dental so I called Edmonds Oral, since the other option seemed to be wisdom tooth. Got apt that following Monday and was told Lynnwood Dental didn't send my X-ray to Edmonds, because " the root was not showing" HAAAAH! Same reason I see another reviewers here got. So Edmonds charged me $147 for a new panoramic ( which I did not need) X-ray. The exam went well as Dr Sato ( evidently the only dentist there that they ever give anyone an apt to these days ) looked and didn't think it was my wisdom tooth. That was good news, And he gave me antibiotics and a mouth rinse RX, so that was something I needed I felt. Things kept improving to point of zero pain that week and son the follow up apt 4 weeks later, I called and cancelled the apt, since I was feeling fine, and the extra trip would not have provided any other info. Well, a few weeks later my tooth flared up again, so I called Edmonds Oral and asked if they could see me. That's when the mess began. It was just after Thanksgiving and Dr Sato was out of the country, Receptionist was originally nice but quickly it turned into a "you should have not cancelled that follow up apt" and for me, it was like ..THAT was a month ago and all was fine. I asked for them to refill my antibiotics, and she said she would try to "text" Dr Sato. Well, guess he never responded, and they couldn't give me another aptt until the next Monday. I knew I had infection at that point as one tooth was a bit loose and very sore. That tooth was the only problem this whole time, not any cavities ( as Lynnwood Dental decided ) and not any wisdom tooth. Edmonds Oral would NOT allow me to get a refill on those simple antibiotics because they have to physically SEE you to do so. And they could NOT see me until the next Monday, So I reluctantly called Lynnwood Dental for a RX for antibiotics. They didn't understand why one of Dr Sato's colleagues couldn't fill my rx...so they called them. THAT was a big mistake. So the smarty little receptionist at Edmonds Oral told the ladies at Lynnwood Dental that I had cancelled a follow up apt and it was my own fault WOW!!! And to make things worse, when I called back Lynnwood to see about things ( this was a Thursday afternoon at 3:45, the ladies at Lynnwood Dental jumped all over me about that cancelled appt.. and said " you got to do what we tell you to do". What a joke for a 58 year old man to be hearing all this kiddie crap from two dental offices when all I needed was some pain relief and to stop this abscessed tooth from spreading into my body. ( which would have been a helluva mess with possible hospital visit ) Finally after unnecessary arguments over something that happen a month ago, the lady at Lynnwood told me to be there in 10 minutes and they could help me. So I did that. And got a nice dentist by name of Dr An. She immediately saw the problem with new X Ray and gave me RX for stronger antibiotics. I either had choice of root canal at $2,600+ or extraction at a fraction of that price. No job, no insurance, I chose extraction. That Tues I had apt and my tooth pulled and I feel much better. I called and talked to Office Manager ( Jane) about my terrible experience at Edmonds Oral, and she was extremely nice. It didn't take away my feelings about that overpriced and egotistical place but at least she listened and said she'd talk with front desk about how they handle customers. So maybe Lynnwood and Edmonds work in unison about milking people out of their extraq X-Rays, as it seems so since it is happening to more than one person here. And for sure, the girl at Edmonds Front Desk was a brat.. and does NOT belong on that job. Also, Edmonds Oral has no flexibility for people in pain.. but Lynnwood Dental does. So hats off to Lynwood Dental even though they did get into a childish gossip ring with the girls at Edmonds, only to jump all over me about it. And for what? read more

Love these guys. ( I apologize this is so long) Scenario: My teenage son needed all 4 compacted wisdom teeth pulled, with one being next to a possibly needed urgent root canal that flared up same day after having a deep cavity filling. His Dentist & Endodontist said he emergently needed a root canal due to his pain after filling. After MUCH research into root canal associated w/deep fillings, I felt it was too soon to tell if the root canal was needed, and was uncomfortable getting something so extreme done. Also, insurance was changing when he turned 18. (1 mo away). So whatever needed to happen, needed to be done "now". My son was in extreme pain, and getting his wisdom teeth out could irritate his "bad" tooth, causing it to need a root canal for sure. Appointment date was immediate, receptionist gave exceptional service showing great knowledge, compassion, advice, and time over the phone. Dr. O'Neil was very patient towards any questions & concerns we had, and in no way rushed the office visit, given the fact we were squeezed into the schedule on a last minute request. He related to my son through his own kids, and gave personable advice if he was in our shoes. Surgery was quick, recovery remarkably quick with no complications. My son wanted me to call the office to thank Dr. O'Neil for doing such a great job. :-) Zero swelling, and my son was eating normal w/in 1 week. (My daughter & her friend went to a different Oral Surgeon who ownes the place & they swelled up unrecognizable). Night before surgery, I realized I forgot to pick up my son's med's up that help him relax for surgery 1hr prior & the pharmacy was closed. I called the Oral Surgeon on call (it was after hours), and Dr. O'Neil was the one who called me back. He was so patient & kind, and was willing to call another prescription in to a pharmacy open, but we opted out after he took the time to explain his family's personal experience on how that med isnt necessary & just a option to help with any anxiety prior. I appreciated his honesty, and willingness to offer this & add'l info since it seems the Medical Industry tends to push pharmaceuticals. Perhaps this is why my son recovered so quickly!! ? Side Note: Becky was the front desk lady who took my calls & helped me problem solve my unusual situation. I had already spent about 5 hrs calling around to other places looking for advice & was up agaisnt a time frame due to insurance. I was frazzled by time I spoke with Becky. Immediately, I sensed Becky was experienced and knew what she was talking about. She expedited quickly while being extremely patient and kind. Another side note: my son ended up NOT needing a root canal. Thank You Dr. O'Neil & Becky for caring enough to really know your job & not afraid to "go against mainstream" to do it either. Terrible service from your teeth to the accountant. I was about to turn 24 and my Dentist recomended that I remove my wisdom teeth. My teeth were healthy and i had no pain, but i was told I should remove them before it gets bad later and my insurance will only cover it now. They showed me what i had to pay 200$ and what my insurance would pay based on their internal assesment $800. I thought as long as my insurance would cover a good portion I would be fine so I paid my portion and signed up. I can not remember my surgery, butafterwards I developed dry sockets that were very painful. When I went in for follow up the surgeon nor the assistants told me anything about what was happening to me. Wisking me away, with no answers to my questions. Later I received a bill in teh mail explaining that they had underestimated the value of my insurance so I had to pay an additional 600$! I asked how they had under estimated by 600$ and again they had no answers. If you like pain and you like to pay exorbant amounts of money for that pain then Edmonds Oral Surgery is good for you. read more
