I did have a situation where I asked for an xray and it showed I had bone loss in an upper molar. I was having a lot of pain. I went to an Endodontist, that was an expensive consult, and then I went back to Dr Dehkordi. She said I needed an extraction or an expensive temporary fix with a dental implant. After leaving a previous job and losing my dental insurance from Willamette Dental, it had been about 1 1/2 years since I had last had a cleaning and an exam. Dr. Dhakchang's website looked impressive and the reviews present on it were glowing. I bought the Amazon Local deal and then visited Yelp, only to discover the 1-star review that already was here, detailing a "painful" exam and cleaning, what sounded like "upselling" by the dentist, and a change in the bite pattern of the reviewer's teeth. Admittedly, I was a little concerned that perhaps buying this Amazon Local deal was a bad idea. However, after my visit with Dr. Dhakchang, all of my concerns were dispelled almost instantly. True, it's a small office (just a couple of exam spaces) and she's nearly doing one-woman show (her assistant was out on the day I had my appointment, so she handled my paperwork and all elements of the exam all by herself). Yet she was warm, kind, and efficient in her work. I was impressed by how the X-rays were completed while I sat in the chair (at Willamette Dental, I always had to go to a separate room for X-rays). Additionally, she had a high-tech small camera that she was able to use to view some of my dental issues ("pockets" where my gums have dropped below the enamel line) and offer treatment options to me. Granted, I agree with the previous reviewer that Dr. Dhakchang was a bit clumsy regarding using the cleaning tools (she sprayed my face with water and toothpaste during the cleaning and joked that I was getting a "free facial"). But I only can imagine that the person who did the previous review was naïve when it comes to the instruments used during a cleaning/exam. Dr. Dhakchang had a ultrasonic cleaner -- this is STANDARD at Willamette Dental and nothing unusual. It gets one's teeth cleaner than a standard electric brush. I saw NO upselling from Dr. Dhakchang during my visit. When I complained about some issues I was having, she suggested some treatment options, but I did not feel under any pressure to purchase any additional dental work from her. When it came time to check out at the end of the visit, there were no charges beyond the $69 I already had paid for the Amazon Local deal. Since I will be relocating to a another country this fall, I am unsure if I will be returning to Dr. Dhakchang, but if I find myself back in Seattle next year, I will see her again for my yearly exam. Female dentists are not very common, and I am happy to support a woman who is a political refugee who has chosen to make the Pacific Northwest her home.

At her suggestion, I had all three of my front teeth capped with porcelain crowns which filled the gap and look like natural teeth. The color match is great too. I'm very pleased with Dr. Dhakchang's treatment plan and now I can smile with confidence for the first time in my life and to think I lived with that gap for so many years. I received a called literally in the next 15 mins from the amazing doctor herself, who bombarded me with kindness empathy, and sympathy. Offering as much good information as any human being could ever want in an urgent time of need like these. Since then, this might be my 3rd branch in Washington alone (I tend to move a lot...) and I'm glad I came here before I saw the reviews that probably would have scared me off. I originally looked up and booked an appointment here for my husband who refuses to go to a doctor or dentist when he's in pain and they were able to get him in and when I went inside to pay for his visit, they got me to book an appointment for a cleaning (Lord knows I was well overdue for one because I have the worst teeth issues since I was young). My husband has a female dentist at the time but I was scheduled with Dr. Jason Byun. Anyways, I've been here for maybe a little over a year now with my regular cleanings, deep cleanings, more major procedures and every time they have all been so kind and they really listen to you when you're describing the issues you have. And when you're someone like me with a history of problems... it's really nice of them to genuinely care for their patients. Today I went in for another cleaning and Leila was just very knowledgeable and helpful answering questions as to what is happening inside my mouth rather than the usual "make sure you brush your teeth and floss". Talking to them over the phone they were super friendly and cheerful, talking to them when we checked in they were super friendly and cheerful, and so on, and so on. Just the nicest people. We got her teeth cleaned and ready, then came back today to have her crown put on. It took 2.5 hours, but them's the breaks, I suppose. I went next door for bbq while I waited. No one likes the dentist, but they made this as pleasant and painless as they possibly could. Back to clean more quadrants (of her teeth) in the next few weeks.
