I ate food from here two days ago. Let me tell you. First of all, I loved the exterior wall painting outside and the decor inside was pretty cool. Thought the motto inside, "Legalize Marinara" was pretty funny! We ordered two huge pizzas, one being a bbq chicken pizza and the other a pepperoni. They were super duper yummylicious!!! While here, Branden gave us the best service up at the front order counter! He suggested that I try the huge chocolate chip cookie, which I did. It was very good! Great upsale on Branden's part! It may be on the pricier side of pizzas, but the high quality and exceptional taste make up for it. My brother ordered the "Meat Eater" and I ordered the "Sicilian." Both pies were generously stacked with ingredients and plenty of melting cheese. Delivery was easy and available on a couple different mobile platforms. When I think of a pizza shop, I think of a place with a wide variety of choices whether it comes to type of pizza (new York, Chicago, Cali style) or the amount of topping I can put on my pizza. I believe this place does just that. Not only does the menu look appetizing itself, but the setting of the shop is perfect, dimmed lights with dark wooden walls. Service was excellent. We got a cheerily middle aged lady who seemed like she had been working hard all day, but she didn't stop working and gave us a big smile. The only problem I had with the place is how the pizza turned out for us, it just seemed kind of gross but something I would still eat - just not on a regular basis. It had a crazy amount of grease sitting on top of the cheese like a pool, and the cheese seemed to shift off of the dough by about an inch. The pizza itself was good, delicious. Having a low highchair next to a high top table makes for a horrible dining experience but the baby was hungry and that was all they had available. I really like the take out here. Food is always ready on time and I'm in and out in no time. Eating inside, I'm not a fan of. It's pretty dark inside and I always wish I'd just gotten take out. I like thick crust but this places double crust is like a reg crust pizza. This is something you wanna think of when you're ordering from here. Because it would be a pretty sad pizza if you didn't order the double. The first time we ordered we ordered a hot chip burger pizza. It was different and out of curiosity we wanted to check it out. It is really good and very different. I love pickles so this pizza to me it was delicious. But if you don't like pickles don't get the pizza. It basically is a hamburger on a pizza. Delicious. I also ordered the Cobb salad and the salad was excellent. Everything was nice fresh and crisp. The second time we ordered the deluxe pizza and it was basically your basic deluxe pizza it was good. Best pizza in town! I die a little inside whenever I sample pizza elsewhere because I know I should be eating here instead..it really is great. I gave the south location 5 stars and the North Mr. Pizza is certainly no exception; despite being under different ownership, they share the same pizza recipe and friendly service. I think the main distinguishing factor between the two spots is that the North side has an expanded, more robust menu...which is a bit of an understatement. While the south side focuses on pizza, the north also boasts salads, pasta, and sandwiches. While I admittedly haven't tried their expanded fare (hard to deviate from the tried and true pizza), my friends have tried their sandwiches and they have given them high praise. I guess I will have to try them out next time! Make sure you check out their lunch hours where they sell pizza by the slice. The place gets packed during these hours, but since the pizza is already made you can get served promptly and be out the door in no time. read more

I've tried a lot of mashed potato pizzas in my day, but this one took the pie. This pizza joint was recommended to me by my road trip copilot after arriving here from Oregon. He was brought up in Minnesota and had only had good things to say about it. We arrived shortly after 6 and were seated immediately, which was surprising -- the parking lot suggested we'd be waiting at least a moment or two. I was feeling especially sassy, so I ended up making confusing jokes and sarcastic remarks to our wonderful waitress. She kept up, was patient, and tolerated it very well. Sort of like when you are forced to nod your head during a Thanksgiving dinner when your grandpa says some awful joke. We ended up ordering cheesey garlic bread and an order of the mashed potato pizza on double crust. The cheesey bread was pretty good -- nothing to write home about, though. It came out warm, so the cheese was super Nickelodeon-slime-textured, and the flavors were definitely present. You know, all three of them. The pie arrived soon after, topped with green onions, bacon, and chunks of garlicy goodness camouflaged in mashed potatoes. While I normally enjoy eating my pizza by hand, I very willingly accepted a more civilized approach and went at it with a fork and knife. This type of pizza demanded it -- there was too much weight for the crust to handle (aka too much at stake). I feel like a business like this would do really well in a state where recreational pot is legal. But, regardless, I had a wonderful time and the food was fun and very tastey. I LOVE this place! I have never eaten inside the restaurant but intend to in the future. Every time I come in to pick up my to-go order this place is always super busy and packed with families. We order the double dough pizza crust, highly recommend, with our favorite pizza being the buffalo but the florentine is very good too! I love the pizza selections on the menu and am glad they create options for you other than pepperoni or supreme. Their prices maybe more expensive than your local pizza place but they are considered a specialty pizza place and use very hearty ingredients. The wait is usually 20-25 minutes even on a Friday or Saturday night and I rarely have to wait for them to finish my order when I arrive to pick it up... it's usually warmly waiting for me :-) read more

This used to be one of my husband's and my favorite restaurants in Rochester. Now they are under new ownership with a new, pared-down menu that deleted a lot of our favorite dishes. I understand that changes had to be made, but the dishes we have ordered since then have changed substantially for the worse. The salads no longer appear to have the house-made dressings of before, which were delicious; now they taste like Kraft dressing I can buy (but don't) from the grocery store. We also sampled the New York style pizza--margharita and pepperoni (on separate pizzas); neither was very good. The cheese didn't taste good--don't know how to describe it further. I WOULD still go there if I wanted dessert--the various cakes and cheesecakes are outstanding. My favorites are the tiramisu cheesecake and the limoncello cheesecake. My sister and I headed down Highway 52 down to Rochester, MN to see my aunt and cousin whom I hadn't seen in 13 years. After a great 1 1/2 of conversation with my newly graduated 22 year old sister we headed to a yet unexplored of Rochester. The place had really grown since I lived here 15 years ago. It was great seeing the small, yet big city grow. We met up with everyone and we ordered a Diet Pepsi to start us off and some spinach dip. The only cruddy thing about the place is it took like 20 minutes for the appetizer to come out, but I had a bite of it, and it was pretty tasty. Everyone else seemed to enjoy it as well. The menu was pretty extensive and I saw some pizzas come out that looked really good, but I wasn't in a pizza mood, so I ordered the Mediterranean sandwich with a side salad. I chose the side salad instead of fries, coleslaw, etc. and I was glad I did! The side salad came out after about 10 minutes, and it was almost a meal in itself. The blue cheese was pretty good as well. A couple of people got the wraps and my mom and aunt got a salad that looked real nice when it came out and they seemed to enjoy it. The sandwich came out and the roll looked beautiful and it came with lots of chicken chunks and a creamy spread, very yummy! I really enjoyed it, the bread was nice and crusty, but doughy as well. I could only finish half though though because of the wonderful said salad size. The chicken was really nice and juicy. I even enjoyed the pickle spear that came on the side. The wraps looked really large too, no one could finish their meals due to the portion size. Another one of my sisters got the nachos, which looked like a platter of cheese with chips, lots of food. They even come out with a bowl full of condiments like jalapenos and sour cream and tomatoes on the side. It looked pretty wonderful. Our server was nice, she refilled my soda 4 or five times and was very friendly. The price was pretty reasonable as well, I think it was about a $10 average per person with pop included, and I can't stress how big the portion sizes are. I would like to try the pizza with my wife sometime, a small was like 11 bucks. We went over to my parents house and laughed for another couple of hours with my rarely seen relatives and then headed back to the Twin Cities. My sis and and laughed and discussed life for the 70 mile trip back. What a great day and a great restaurant. I heard the cheesecake is to die for as well. read more

I visited Mr. Pizza with family and had a great time. I was surprised to find that we could pick any table we wanted to (it was seat yourself) but we arrived in the early afternoon. Everything we ordered was gluten-free. We had the Greek Chicken pizza and the Sicilian pizza. The GF crust was really good - firm, not soggy, but still soft. The Sicilian packed a great meaty flavor and the Greek Chicken was loaded with veggies. The cheese was deliciously thick and stringy - but not cheep tasting. We also ordered the GF New York Cheesecake with raspberry topping. The cheesecake itself was incredible; the crust seemed a bit chewy, a sort of oats and nut bake, but overall a great flavor. Whenever I visit Rochester, I have to eat at Mr. Pizza. In high school, I was a frequent customer at the location on South Broadway. On this visit, my parents took me to the north location, and I'm sure glad they did. The north location is a little nicer, but the pizza is just as I remember. We started off with the garlic toast with cheese, which we do every single time. My parents shared an old standby, the Mr. Pizza Special, which comes with ground beef, italian sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and onion. My boyfriend and I shared the Mashed Potato pizza sans bacon, which comes with garlic butter sauce, mashed potatoes, green onions, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, and a side of sour cream. Mashed potatoes seems like an odd pizza topping, but it works. The pizza was bold and flavorful, and we really didn't need the sour cream. The green onions were a nice, crisp contrast to the creamy mashed potatoes. The North Mr. Pizza does more than just pizza, and the menu looks like it has quite a few interesting sandwiches, salads, and pastas. If I lived in the area, I'd try give them a try, but given that I visit only every couple years or so, I'll stick to the pizza. read more

This place was phenomenal! The pizza's were perfectly prepared with just the right thickness and crispy/chewy ratio on the crust. I want to come by for lunch soon, because the salads on the menu looked so appetizing. The only odd thing was that our waitress seemed to have an odd thing with distances. Dine in service is mediocre and there tends to be larger groups on weekends so wait time can be 30-40min. Pizza options are plentiful and plenty of appetizers and non pizza dishes. There are plenty of toppings to choose from and they all seem to be pretty fresh. They do have Gluten Free pizza but after having a few I don't think they prepare and cook separate from their reg pizzas. It's faster to order and pickup a pizza than to dine in so if your really hungry I would recommend that. Plenty of alcohol beverages and wine to choose from as well although they pour pretty small glasses IMO. read more

Visited this place for the first upon the recommendation of several co workers so needless to say my expectations were high heading in. So the wife and I decided to give this place a try on a lazy Saturday afternoon. The first thing I noticed about the restaurant was the ambience and how well lit the setting was. Both the server and hostess were also warm and inviting to my wife and I. Knowing that I wanted to try the Greek chicken pizza, I didn't take long reviewing the menu but was impressed by the selection. My wife decided on a shrimp scampi pizza because she wanted to try something new. Our pizzas did not take long to arrive and upon the first bite I noticed how bland the flavor was. In fact, the chicken lacked any kind of seasoning and it wasn't until I added salt that the pizza became salvageable. My wife voiced the same displeasure with her pizza and also added salt to rescue any flavor. Had it not been for the delicious chocolate cheesecake I would have easily have rated this place one star due to the bland flavor of pizza.
