Tasty pizza in a family friendly setting. Big portions, fun ambiance at an affordable price. We ordered the special and was enough for our family. The original crust was a-ok, may get a different crust next time. read more

The Original Mr. Pizza South - Pizza Near Me - Rochester, Minnesota

I consider myself a pizza aficionado and there aren't many places I would choose over the original Mr. Pizza!! We typically order it to go but we just went for dine in with our 2 and 5 year old granddaughters and the 5 year old ate 4 pieces of pizza and I still don't know where she put it lol. She said "this is the best pizza I've had in MY WHOLE LIFE!!" - because you know, she's had a really long one She now requests Mr. Pizza on the regular which makes me quite happy. All that said, the food is delicious and the service is stellar. If you haven't been or just haven't been lately, do yourself a favor and grab a pie - my recommendation is Sharon's Favorite! And eating in is cool, you'll love the family service and the laid back atmosphere. read more

This is just what it says -- classic old school pizza parlor. Simple toppings, two liters or pitchers of soda, domestic draft beer. Hot and fresh and pretty quick for a Friday night, kept us sustained during a road trip. I also appreciated their family meal combos that took care of an adult, teen, and tween with a lot of leftovers. Hasn't changed since the 80s I'm pretty sure and shouldn't. I think the sauce is a little sweet but that's a matter of taste. read more

Pizza is really good! They have pitchers of soda and good atmosphere. The salads are tasty also! read more

The Original Mr. Pizza South - Pizza Near Me - Rochester, Minnesota

We picked up pizza and salad. Fortunately, we had great thin crust pizza however, we ordered a $10 chef salad with ranch. We got a very tiny and skimpy salad shown in the picture with no ham, very little lettuce and no dressing. The person had repeated the order back to us so I'm not sure what happened. I suggest you avoid the salad and be sure your take out order is correct. read more

The Original Mr. Pizza South - We ordered a $10 chef salad and got this salad instead. Disappointing. - Pizza Near Me - Rochester, Minnesota

We tried Mr. Pizza for the first time. We ordered their meat pizza plus mushrooms. It was packed with meat and had great flavor. The crust was a bit hard to cut/bite into. But, overall it was good and we will order again. The cheese bread was VERY cheesy and a hit! We also ordered a side salad. The lettuce was shredded which isn't our favorite way to have it and it doesn't have much on it. However, everything was fresh and the ranch was very good! read more

While traveling found this place due to Yelp and other great previous Yelp reviewers. A buddy of mine and I split a Large Meat Combo. It was a good pizza. A solid 4 - 4.5 pizza. Not over cooked and seemed like the right amount of toppings for the large size. We also got a pitcher of soda. We sat ourselves and ordered at the counter. They bring the order to you at your table. Staff were friendly and the place appeared clean. Again a solid 4 - 4.5 place. I wouldn't have a problem eating there again. So if in the area and maybe even staying at the hotel right next door - go get yourself some pizza. read more

Very good pizza and fast service! If you like old school traditional pizza, this will make you happy. Thinner chewy crust, tangy sauce, and lots of toppings. The only thing that would have made it better,...crispy cheese around the edges of the crust. If I lived in Rochester I would be a repeat customer. read more

The Original Mr. Pizza South - Pizza Near Me - Rochester, Minnesota

Possibly the worst pizza I've ever had. I wouldn't even call it pizza. The bread had absolutely not crunch to it at all. We ordered the bbq chicken. It tasted like it was just heated frozen pizza. Funny thing is that this place came super recommended from someone we really trust in other matters other than food. Like I said- the worst pizza I've ever had. I wouldn't even call it pizza. More like highly processed bread with tasteless watery chicken and tasteless watery cheese on top. read more

OK, had to choose between food service ambience the reality is Mr. Pizza south Is the original Mr. Pizza in Rochester, Minnesota. I love everything about it. Not just staff, or the service, but the pieces of pie are so much better at the original Mr. Pizza than the other one. I love their pizza. I have loved it for probably 50 years. The Fultons are an amazing family. I'm so grateful to know them there is no chance in hell you would walk in this restaurant and not be happy if you weren't, they will take care of you. I don't know anybody In Rochester is not happy and they choose Mr. Pizza south. I know I am old but here's the deal. I've lived a lot of years and Mr.Pizza. Is. by far the best pizza In Rochester and I have moved away 100 times every time I'm away from here. I crave Mr. Pizza. read more

Wow! This is some of the best pizza I have ever had. I got a Thin Mac Special. It rocked my socks off. I will be going back at least once a month if not more. Their website and specials blow so don't be turned off by that. It looks like they have a nice dining space that I will likely take advantage of when it reopens. read more

Service good!! Iced tea tasted old. But the pizza....we ordered thin crust Mr Pizza Special (combo). Crust was tough, hard to bite and impossible to cut. Toppings did not stay on the crust. Greasy....not a good experience. We have been here numerous times with good pizza. We won't be back! read more

We visited the original location while in town again. The pizza tasted even better than I remembered. Service was just as good. Only one sever but she made sure everyone was taken care of. We had the original thin crust. Very cheesy. Very delicious. If you want great pizza, come here! There is a reason they have been around for 60 years (1963). read more

The south Mr. Pizza is just better, can't put my finger on it, it just is. Prices are cheaper too.

Hands down my favorite pizza place in Rochester. Was recommended by a coworker and it's now my go-to takeout in town. The double dough is my favorite, but thin crust is amazing too. They also have really good to-go frozen pizzas. Not to mention, the staff is incredibly friendly!! Always leave happy when I see them. Thanks Mr Pizza! read more

Do NOT order "original thin and crispy". You will be disappointed. You want double dough or other...heed my words yelper.

Have always loved your pizza and still do. But 2 out of the last three times I have come in and got your frozen pizzas I have not gotten what I asked for. Seem you need to mark the kind of pizza or stack them differently in your freeer. I usually but 3 or four at a time And this last time 6. So I would think I am a pretty good customer. When I asked your cashier to double check to make sure I got the right one... not too accomodating. Please start labeling them. Eileen read more

The pizza was delicious! I'm normally not a fan of thin crust. However, Mr. Pizza makes some bomb crispy thin crust. I enjoyed that the toppings were placed UNDERNEATH the cheese for the most part. I wish more places did this. The server didn't come back and ask if I wanted a refill on my beverage. read more

Not bad, not spectacular. Found listed multiple places as one of best pizza joints in Rochester, but just didn't have that experience. Wasn't bad by any means, food was ready quickly, people I spoke with were friendly. Just had elevated expectations. read more

Best pizza I've had in town! Great price and you get a ton of pizza! The leftovers were great too!

I was in town for the night and popped in, heard it was the place to go! Sauce was good, toppings were great, it tasted great... but, I got the original cracker crust, and with the toppings of this speciality pizza the cracker crust toward the center just became a soggy mess. If it was crispy crust all the way, it would have been 5 star. read more

Buffalo chicken pizza - to die for! Friendly, helpful, upbeat staff:) Best pizza we have found in Rochester so far!

Thin crust is excellent! Thick crust not so much... The thin is on par with a classic Manhattan pizza parlor. Family owned, very nice people. read more

Mr. Pizza South is the best pizza in Rochester. I prefer the thin crust but the thick is pretty good too. They also have frozen take-and-bake ones that are nice to have on hand. The North one isn't the same. read more

Brilliant. I'm from Chicago and know my pizza. I eat way too much and all kinds. This ranks up there in my top 3 of all time. Amazing pizza. Ask for the "Joel Special": 1/2 cheese 1/2 pep, green pepper, black olives read more

Their pizza is fantastic! I usually opt for the thin crust, but several of my friends and family rave about the double dough. The Mr. Pizza Special is my go-to choice, and I usually sub out the sausage for Canadian bacon to cut down on the grease; I feel like it helps keep the crust from getting soft also. They offer pizza by the slice during lunch (11am-2pm, M-Sat) which is of great value. The pizza is already made, so you can get in and out very quickly if you are on a tight work schedule. Their frozen pizza is just as good. Several of my out-of-town friends will stock up on frozen pizzas while visiting if that gives you any indication. If there is one thing to criticize, and it isn't even pizza-related, is that the machines in their small arcade room are usually hit or miss if they are in working order. The pinball is usually always broken and it's a shame because there are so few pinball games accessible in this town anymore. I feel like their arcade room is also what separates it from the north location, so please take care of it even though I know that kids are hard on them! read more

Gluten-free and delicious!!! Last week, my hubby and I picked up two 10" pizzas to go, one regular and one gluten-free. I waited to do my review until I was sure the GF pizza truly was GF, as I have wheat intolerance. Mr. Pizza passed the test! Not only that, but the pizzas were scrumptious! He ordered one of their specials. I ordered a mushroom and black olive. It was loaded with thick, meaty shrooms and savory olives, plus so much gooey cheese, I was it pizza heaven. The crispy crust was fabulous. Neither of us could finish our small pizzas and were happy to have leftovers the next day. Yum and double yum. The best thing after a day of miserable testing at Mayo is happy eating and knowing I could eat gluten-free was the best. read more

Unfortunately they were extremely busy when we stopped in to eat here. So the service was a tad slow but we understand that's what you get on a busy night anywhere you go out to eat!! Atmosphere was great. Food and service was pretty good! read more

I am a pizza snob. (Caveat-midwestern experience only) and this is my hands down favorite in Rochester. And I've tried 90% of them. Their sauce is kicky enough without being too hot for me or overwhelming the ingredients. The ingredients are plentiful. Baked to perfection with crispy edges and some brown bubbly cheese on top. Its pizza I remember from my childhood in the 80s before everything was made cheaply and sugary. You could make a mattress out of the garlic cheese bread, it's so lofty and warm...do NOT miss it. Added bonus, the staff is actually quite friendly! read more
