I'm giving it 3 stars because I do enjoy their pizza but there gf crust tastes ironically like a mouthful of flour. Couldn't finish it, it was that bad. Don't waste your time on a salad. Comes from a bag of shredded lettuce, and not the fancy kind with carrots and cabbage. Ranch dressing has that funny bottled taste. read more

Very good pizza! Staff was helpful and prompt. I wasn't sure if the 2 medium pizzas would be enough for my family of five but we ended up having leftovers of both! The taco pizza was excellent- comes with the taco fixings in a separate box. Kids loved the pepperoni pizza. Hand tossed was definitely the way to go. read more

When I first moved to Rochester, Mr. Pizza was my favorite pizza place. I raved about how good they are and how I'm happy to support local pizza chains over the national chains. This most recent experience at Mr. Pizza though has led me to write this review. I used a coupon and ordered a Chicken Alfredo large pizza with pepperoni. When we received the pizza and tasted it, the chicken was very dry and tasted old (like it was leftovers and shredded and thrown on a pizza). Since I received the pizza late in the evening and had to go to work, I had my girlfriend call and express our displeasure. I wasn't interested in a refund, I just wanted a different pizza. Instead, the person who answered the phone said they would wait until their manager came in and would call us back. They never called us back or even apologized. This is sad news for me because I really respected Mr. Pizza but I will no longer shop with them and make sure this experience gets out everywhere. read more

In the mood for pizza and it was hard to find a company in Rochester that would deliver. Pizza cane promptly, price was great and the pizza was all right. Probably deserves 3.5 stars. Hard to describe the style if you are not from around here. It's kinda the "more is always better" philosophy of pizza making. Lots of sauce, thick bready crust, lots of gooey cheese, lots of food service grade toppings.. Still, it works on a level that I can't really explain. I prefer their thin crust with light sauce. The bacon cheeseburger (ask for pickles) is actually pretty fun. For reference, I love chicago style deep dish and especially love Neapolitan pizza. read more

Mr Pizza has really grown on me. The best part about their pies is their toppings. Their prices may seem a little higher than their competition, but they really, really pile the toppings on. Their pizzas are the definition of "Meat Lovers". Three of their specials, that we've tried, have tons of ground beef, sausage, pepperoni, and other treats for carnivores. With so many toppings, the slices can sometimes require forks because the crust can't always handle the weight. My wife thinks that the toppings are a little overboard (especially the ground beef), but I'm a big fan of them. We just make sure to order two pies when we stop by for take-out (she prefers their white pies with less toppings). The owner contacted us after our last review to apologize for the burnt pizza and offered to make it up to us. We haven't taken him up on his offer yet, because we've been saving it for a time that we could stop by to eat in. We want to try his recommendation, the thin-crust bacon cheeseburger, with a few pitchers of beer. We really appreciated his dedication to ensuring their customers' care and I picked up some the two stores' history. In a nutshell, the two stores aren't chains; they are two restaurants operated for more than thirty years by two brothers, who started out together at the south location. Now, each family runs their own place and has added their own touches. Mr. Pizza North expanded their menu because of a larger kitchen, while Mr. Pizza South has focused solely on what founded the original location. I really like coming for their lunch specials and I'm a huge fan of the pizza joint atmosphere. Nothing is better than sitting down in a place with character, eating a warm pie, and getting a frosty pitcher of beer. Also, their take-out is extremely fast and convenient; I've never waited more than 20 minutes. read more

We came in from out of town to be seen at the Mayo. We had some pizza delivered to the Kahler Grand. BOTH OF IS GOT FOOD POISONING!!!!! 15 minutes after eating the Pizza, both of us were on the toilet with stuff coming out of both sides of our body. I didn't want to put them on blast on YELP but when I tried to call back to warn the manager. No one would answer the phone. Excellent thin crust pizza. I had 4 toppings they were very nice about letting me sub toppings. Thin crust was perfect, it snapped like a cracker. Diana our server couldn't have been nicer. my wife has some food allergy's and she handled them perfectly. We can't wait to visit the next tie we come to Rochester. read more

Even though I actually liked the Friday pizza in my school's cafeteria, trust me, this is the best pizza on earth. I actually lived in Rochester for a year and never went there! I went back for a few days and my hostess took me there for dinner one night . Sold American! I took her to Michael's as a thank-you, but Mr. Pizza was the true treat. Call me spoiled, I just moved to Rochester from the land of endless pizza possibilities and home to the famous deep dish...drum roll, please....Chicago, but I did not like Mr. Pizza one bit. I had been forewarned that the pizza options were slim to none in Rochester, so I was excited to read such high reviews for Mr. Pizza on here. Location is fine, older building, lots of booths and family pizza parties. Staff is young and high-school, but very pleasant. Not sure what kind of pizza we ordered, took waitress's recommendation, and hated it. Actually tossed my leftovers (very uncharacteristic of me). We are visiting the Mayo Clinic and ordered a pizza from Mr. Pizza. It was one of the better pizzas that we have had. Lots of cheese and toppings. The one concern was the price. $28.00 for a 14inch with pepperoni, gr. Beef, onions, and mushrooms seems a little high. Now they did deliver it two blocks away by a taxi but we did not ask for that method of delivery. It's our fault for not asking for the price ahead of ordering it btu the pizza was great! read more

I loved the old school vibe of this place, felt like a kid in the 80s again. I got a 10-inch thin crust with veggies. It was very good but the toppings overwhelmed the crust so I would suggest a thicker crust with those options. Service was great. You seat yourself but the waitress came quickly. The food came quickly too. Besides the pizza, I got a salad too. The salad was shredded lettuce, a slice of tomaton shredded cheese and croutons and a packet of dressing. Basic, but hit the spot. The pizza was clearly made to order, with hot melted cheese and a crispy crust. If I'm in the area again, will definitely go and try other pizza combinations. read more

Visiting Rochester and had a very long day at the Mayo Clinic; so getting a pizza was a great idea. If you like pizza this place will more than likely have you covered. They have thin crust, stuffed, pan you name it. We got the stuffed crust Sharon's special and a couple of side salads for $31. We ordered by phone, they got it exactly right and it was ready when they said it would be. The pizza was great. The salads were Ok. But overall an excellent pizza joint. read more

My family and I went there on a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at. The waitress was very nice and came to the table pretty quick to take our drink order. She gave us a great recommendation for a appetizer, the pizza bread. The waitress is the reason I gave the restaurant 2 stars. We ordered an extra large thin and crispy 1/2 cheese 1/2 sausage. When the pizza came it was extremely greasy. The sausage looked like it was burnt and had no taste. The cheese didn't taste good at all. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. read more

We were here when I was a patient at the Mayo Clinic. Stopped in after a long and emotional day. Being from Chicago, we're pretty picky about pizza. This pizza is so good that I wish we had gotten the frozen ones to take home. In addition to the great pizza, the people that worked there were kind and friendly. The service was outstanding! It reminds me of Chicago's Southside tavern style pizza. We had a thin crust cheese and sausage and it was extraordinary. So great to find comfort food when sick and away from home. Decided to try this place as it was recommended to us to try it. The staff seemed to work very well together, and were friendly to their customers. We decided to order our pizza at the restaurant. With a 20 minute wait, we were going to run an errand while it was being made. As soon as we got back, they immeasurably greeted us, and even remember our name. I was particularly impressed by this as we went during what seemed to be their busy dinner rush. Once we got home, and ate the pizza it was absolutely delicious. The way they top their pizzas (toppings under thick layer of cheese) was perfect. I definitely plan on going here more often for our pizza needs. read more

Great lunch. Meat combo is the best. I opt for the thin crust but they'll make make it anyway you want, pan style, cheese stuffed, doughy, I think they do gluten free too. I usually reward myself here after using the car wash in back. They have been here for years and it is just because they do it right. Nobody has a thin crust like them. Definitely the best Pizza in Rochester. Not to mention family owned and operated. This local gem has two locations. I believe they offer catering too. We had my daughter's third birthday at the North store. The service was great, as always, as was the food. The north location is more of a casual dining environment while the south local remains a quintessential "pizza joint'. Wine and beer available, full menu including pasta and sandwiches. Wow! Pleasantly surprised! Read the reviews on Yelp and figured we would give it a go as opposed to our favorite delivery joint. Not mad about that decision at all! Pizza was really great with lots of toppings. They don't skimp out at all. They don't have a giant menu which is actually a good thing. Pretty basic toppings and a few unusual, it was an easy choice when ordering. I do wish they had a few more options for alcoholic beverages. Four beers from which to choose. Handsdown one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. This is coming from a guy who has eaten Chicago, New York, and California pizza among many others. We got a 14 inch thin crust with sausage, pepperoni, and bacon. It was awesome! We also got garlic bread with cheese and it was the best I've ever had. Mr. Pizza is a hidden gem. Maybe not hidden to the locals but to out-of-towners like us. I hope this place never closes. Two stars because it was edible, just simply not very good pizza. We ordered the House Special. It was like Shepard's Pie, not pizza. I ate it. It filled me up. I thought the crust was like the pre-made from Walmart and lacked sauce. Fair amount of cheese. So if you want bland flavor, mediocre crust, negligible sauce, this is your place - I wouldn't go back.
