I will say this was some of the juiciest and yummy pork I've had. First of all we ordered a Pig Melt! This is the signature meal. They take Texas toast, cheese and chopped pork and grill it. My only complaint was that it was barely grilled and I expected more like a grilled cheese sandwich. The pork was chopped instead of shredded or pulled and again it was yummy. We used the sweet barbecue sauce so we had sweet and savory. You do order at the counter but then they do bring your meal out. Service with a smile by all staff. I ordered the 3 meat combo and the pulled pork was moist and had excellent flavor, the brisket was done to perfection, however the Turkey was less than stellar, it was dry and seemed aged in a sense. This place has the fattiest and the toughest brisket I've ever had. The slaw was all black pepper. I like pepper but damn that's all you taste. The baked beans were fresh out a can of Van Camps and taste just like straight pork and beans. The crinkle cut fries was the best thing on the plate. Excellent food excellent service. The staff were more than accommodating with my food, allergies and made sure that nothing I ordered would contain either onions or garlic. I had the brisket with coleslaw and baked beans. Also their vinegar, hot sauce, beautifully cooked. The sauce was perfect. The baked beans are seasoned with bell peppers in them, which I had never had and it added that little bit of something that makes it special. My husband had the barbecue sandwich and potatoe salad he said it was wonderful as well. I couldn't taste the potato salad because it has onions in it but that's OK. We both drank tea. I had the unsweetened. They had plenty of lemons wedges there and David had the sweet and it was very good as well. Ordered the "Pig Melt" which is supposed to be a grilled cheese with chopped pork inside. The pork was good, but when I order a "grilled cheese" I expect there to be a good amount of melted cheese in it. In the photos one can observe there was a slice of American cheese that wasn't melted. I am not sure why it wasn't melted because my bread was burned on the outside as illustrated in the additional picture provided. The staff was nice. The floors were so sticky that shoes were sticking and one could hear every person's shoes making noise as they walked thru the dining room. An absolute steal for what we got with a family pack! We called ahead and ordered what was a pound of pork, one quart side of collards, one pint of baked beans, one pint of tots and one bbq sauce (we chose tangy), and the order was remarkably reasonable for the quality and quantity of food that we received! It was ready right when we walked in to pick it up and it was hot and fresh. Only small complaint is maybe offer several BBQ sauces in smaller containers rather than one out of a choice of 6 or 7 different kinds in a large container. I would've liked to have had a variety and not just a lot of one that we didn't need nearly that much of. The collards were loaded with little surprising pockets of pork pieces! I could've made a meal out of them alone! The tots were great. Baked beans are little on the goopy sweet side for my taste. The service I received when placing the order over the phone was pleasant, and the restaurant's ambiance would've been nice for a meal out; however, we elected to eat in at the rental where we were staying for the weekend. The pulled pork is juicy and so tender. This place knows how to BBQ and they complete the experience with quality sides. We had the beef brisket and pulled pork and both were wonderful. The meat was tender, moist and flavorful. Was in Dahlonega to take an exam, and after the exam was over I had a ravenous appetite. I was in the mood for BBQ and this place came up and was rated great. I ordered the Pig Melt with a side of Macaroni and cheese and Coleslaw as well as Banana Pudding. The food was honestly so boring and bland. The sandwich was a typically BBQ sandwich nothing remarkable about it. The coleslaw and Mac and cheese were so boring I couldn't even finish it. Both had very little taste. We wanted to try this place out, but when we walked in behind another customer to order, the young man taking orders had that customer move around the register. We waited in place while other customers entered. When the customer in front of us was finished, the young man taking orders kept his back to us & ignored us. Three Strikes, You're Out! I don't know how this place is still in business. Three times--yes, THREE TIMES--I've gone here craving some good barbecue ribs, and every single time, they've been out. This is a barbecue joint, right? How do you keep running out of your most popular item? It's like going to a pizza place that's always out of dough. Complete and utter incompetence. The staff didn't even seem apologetic. Just shrugged it off like it was no big deal. If you can't keep up with the demand for ribs, maybe you shouldn't be in the barbecue business at all. And it's not just about the ribs--if this is how poorly they manage their inventory, I can only imagine what corners they're cutting in the kitchen. There are plenty of other barbecue spots that actually understand what it means to serve their customers. I'll be taking my appetite (and my money) elsewhere from now on. Save yourself the disappointment and do the same. I'm a local! You may be able to fool the tourists but not me. I will not be recommending this place to friends and family! This restaurant was recommended to us. We looked forward to some really good BBQ. THIS WAS THE WORST MEAL WE'VE EVER HAD!!! My dining partner had the beef brisket which was extremely dry and tasted like a thick piece of cardboard. The French fries that came with the brisket were so over salted they were uneatable. I had a their signature sandwich the Pig Melt. The pork in the sandwich was dry and tasteless between two slices of garlic toast with a slice of American cheese on the toast; the cheese wasn't even melted. The baked beans were no better than those out of a can and the Cole slaw was awful. To top it off they charged us twice for a soda. The people at the table next to us didn't receive one of the items they ordered. The staff seemed wholly incompetent so voicing our complaints seemed useless. The saving grace for two and not one star was the stew. It was the saving grace as it was the only thing hot on my plate. We were enjoying getting lost in georgia and decided time for some lunch and hit the google machine to figure it out. We landed on sandwhich place however was outside seating only and the weather didn't agree . Then down the road we see a sign for bbq. Why not ? Well let me tell you why not. We order I got with the sausage plate with fries and stew my dining partner orders for the second time at a bbq place grilled cheese with bbq pork. Now the first time in South Carolina this was a homerun , they never did it but figured it out and amazingly at that. This place has a sign home of the famous pig melt which is just that . Well she went with that and excitement , sadly the pig melt is a bbq pork sandwhich in toast with a square of unmelted cheese . And this was the theme of the meal , not cooked, while her cheese not being melted made for a odd sandwhich as the melt is what makes it , she still said it was ok. My sausage plate however well , the sausage wasn't room temperature it was just cold, cold to the touch, cold to the taste cold to the world. Now I understand bbq I'm a huge fan and I get things are cooked early and held , but maybe in the future don't hold them in the fridge is all.
