Food was just ok and definitely not worth the wait. The sign up front upon entering stated "Please seat yourself". When we went to find a table the waitress coming from the back looked at us like we had committed and sin, rolled her eyes when we told her what the sign read and said "whatever that's fine". May have been 5 families and we waited about 45 minutes for our food which is unusual for Mexican food. Also asked for cheese dip twice and never received it. Had the waitress take it off the bill. I'm sure the other Mexican restaurant around the square would have been much quicker and tastier.

Been going to this place off and on for years. It was always pretty good but they have really stepped up their game in recent months in spite of the challenges rested by Covid (including a labor shortage). Our waitress (Mary) was nothing short of incredible while handling a big workload. The food was excellent. I had the shrimp and tilapia. Be warned that the large cheese dip is silly expensive, but other than that it was also affordable. I have it 5 stars for many reasons.

Roach at our booth!!

The absolute worse Taco Salad I've ever had. If you look up the word bland there would be a picture of El Jimadors taco salad.

All I have to say is yum! 99 cent tacos are a win, salsa was so good, and guacamole was bomb as well. Will definitely be returning!

It was way too watery and had virtually no flavor on its own. Thankfully, I said yes to the jalapenos, so it had some flavor but not enough to make up for the watery texture. Cheese dip should be creamy, not watery. The chips were crispy and the salsa was good. My husband's margarita was tasty. I had the cheese quesadilla, which was good. I wish they had added a bit more guacamole and sour cream on the side as the dollop of each was too small to enjoy with the whole quesadilla. The guacamole was fresh and tasted like it had been made in-house but I wish there had been just a tad more of it given. My husband had the plantains, which is a strange thing to see on the menu for a Mexican restaurant but he was happy about it and enjoyed them. Overall, this was better than the other Mexican restaurant we tried in town and I likely would have given it 4 stars rather than 3 if they had gotten the cheese dip right. We would consider returning if we were in town again, so if you are around, it might be worth a try though I would recommend skipping the cheese dip.

Menus and water were served promptly and the food was brought to our table piping hot. Even the fries, the failure point for most restaurants were hit and crisp. The pizzas, described as Chicago Style, were a thin crust pie. (Somebody needs to visit Chicago-Town for a primer). But, both pies disappeared. A fajita bowl and burrito bowl both vanished. My Greek gyro was overstuffed with lamb and fillings. Absolutely fantastic. And the spicy chicken fingers also vanished. Zero leftovers on ole servings. The food was that good. And service was attentive and water was consistently refilled. Just one caveat, for larger groups, Nighthawk Tavern adds a gratuity to the check. They're very transparent, as the tip is clearly shown. I still added a few bucks to the total. If you're in Dahlonega. you'll be more than happy with Nighthawk Tavern. This is what a chile relleno is: Chile relleno translates to "stuffed chili pepper" in Spanish, originating from Puebla, Mexico, as a dish consisting of a roasted pepper--typically a mild poblano--stuffed with cheese (or meat), dipped in egg batter, and fried. It is often served covered in a tomato-based salsa, offering a savory mix of melted cheese and crispy coating It is not traditional to use bell peppers for chile rellenos, as the dish is historically and fundamentally defined by using specific chile varieties. The most common and authentic choice is the poblano pepper, though Anaheim or Hatch chiles are also frequently used due to their similar size, shape, and ability to hold a filling. While you can use bell peppers as a substitute--especially if you want to avoid heat or cannot find traditional chiles--the resulting dish will differ significantly in flavor and texture. Unlike the thin-skinned, mildly spicy, and earthy poblano, bell peppers are thick-walled, sweet, and lack that characteristic "chile" flavor. If you choose to use them, consider roasting and peeling them first to improve their texture, as you would with a traditional poblano.

As you can see from pictures we were skimped majorly. The portion size is extremely small for the price. These 2 nachos plus a cheese dip were $31! The portion is not worth the price at all! When I spoke with the manager about my concern for the portion size, he basically said that's the portion and nothing he could do. There was no customer service or apology. Basically we would have to deal with it. His only explanation was because we ordered the nachos without chips so it looks small. With or without chips, the portion of meat should not change and should be more. When I asked for my money back the manager said if we wanted our money back then I would have to bring the food back which meant packing two small hungry kids back in the car. He said others have complained about the portion size as well and still no change or concern. This was our first visit and last visit!
