EVERYONE was surprised at the quality of our food at this casual dress restaurant. Some friends and I were in town for Oktoberfest and we stopped by for a bite to eat. It wasn't bad…read morebut it certainly could have been better. First, they were the only place in Helen that we came across that didn't refill the the souvenir plastic cups (there could be more but we didn't stumble across them). Not a huge deal but a disappointment none the less. Second, prices seemed extremely high given the portions I received. And I get that Helen is a tourist town and that everything is more expensive. But when I left I wasn't very full. I ordered the pollo asado. The dish itself tasted fine. But it didn't come with anything else. No rice, beans, veggies, etc. It cost $18 and I was just like "OK, wow!" Luckily someone left some instant oatmeal in my AirBnB so I just went back and ate that. I will say the service was good and the patio outside was nice. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing on the menu, but I doubt I will be returning.

Once we arrived, we were told they couldn't seat us outside because our dog wasn't a service dog. If your actual policy is "service dogs only," then update your information on Apple Maps instead of letting people waste their time walking over there based on incorrect information. And honestly, even if we had been able to sit down, the outdoor area was so loud that we could barely hear the server. Not exactly an enjoyable dining experience. Misleading information and an unnecessarily wasted trip. We won't be coming back.

My boyfriend and I are still on our road trip and today we decided to stop in Helen, Georgia --…read morethis super charming and historic little German-style town in the mountains. Unfortunately it was raining SO much that we couldn't really walk around and explore the town, so I searched for somewhere close to our hotel to have dinner. We ended up at Bangkok Haus Restaurant and honestly... what a good decision that turned out to be. The restaurant serves Thai food and sushi in this really cozy, relaxing atmosphere, which honestly felt perfect after being stuck in the rain all day. The restaurant itself is super cute inside and beautifully decorated, making it feel warm and welcoming the second you walk in. We decided to go all in on sushi rolls and started with two beers: a Thai Chang beer and a Japanese Asahi. Both were super light, refreshing, and paired perfectly with the sushi. I also ordered a miso soup because honestly... there's just something so comforting about starting dinner with warm miso soup to settle your stomach. For rolls we ordered the Eel Roll, the Lady of Dawn, and the M16 roll. The Eel Roll was rich, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced with that buttery eel texture and eel sauce. The Lady of Dawn roll was super fresh and flavorful with the perfect combination of crunchy and creamy textures. And the M16 roll? SO good. Packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and honestly one of those rolls where every bite tastes different in the best way possible. I later saw online that people rave about the M16 roll too, and now I completely understand why. The service was also super friendly and fast, which we appreciated so much after a long rainy day on the road. Honestly, if you're visiting Helen and want a break from all the German food everywhere, this is SUCH a great option. Amazing sushi, comforting Thai food, good service, and a really beautiful atmosphere.

I wanted to share an experience my family and I had this evening that unfortunately prevented us…read morefrom ever getting the opportunity to try your restaurant. At approximately 7:45 PM, I pulled into your parking lot with my family of five. We had seen your steakhouse from the road and pulled in specifically to discuss with my wife and family whether we wanted to have dinner there that evening. Within approximately 30 seconds of pulling into a parking space, a gentleman wearing a black security shirt approached my window and asked if I intended to have dinner at the restaurant. I explained that we had just pulled in and were discussing as a family whether we were going to stay. He informed me that there was a $20 parking fee, which would supposedly be reimbursed on our dinner check. I thanked him, rolled up my window, and he returned to his booth. At that point, my wife and I were having a conversation about whether our little boy, who has autism, would be able to handle the evening. We were simply trying to make a thoughtful decision about whether dinner at your restaurant was going to be a good experience for our entire family. Less than 90 seconds after our initial interaction, the security guard came marching back to my window and demanded that I leave. I asked him, "I can't stay?" He responded in an arrogant and dismissive tone, "Only if you intend on eating here." At that point, he made the decision very easy for me. If a parking space is more important than giving a potential customer a couple of minutes to discuss with his family whether they are going to dine at your restaurant, then you don't need or deserve my family's business. Thankfully, we pulled out and found a wonderful little German restaurant, Hofbräuhaus Restaurant & Pub, just down the street. The staff there was welcoming and courteous, and we ended up having a fantastic dining experience. What struck me most about the entire situation is that my family wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. We were potential customers who had just arrived and were trying to decide whether your restaurant was the right place for us that evening. One restaurant made a concerned father feel like he mattered. That was not your restaurant. I hope management will take a serious look at how customers are being treated before they ever make it through your front door. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, ours was enough to ensure that my family and I will not be returning
