Very rude office! I went to order new glasses for every day plus to change lens on my sunglasses. The choices covered by my insurance were very slim. I've had more choices at other places previously. However they really lost me when I returned to pick up my glasses. I walked in wearing a mask because of Covid. Brian claimed he couldn't hear me with the mask on. Hmmm...no one has ever said that before. When I shouted back he still claimed he couldn't hear me. I was stunned! Reluctantly I removed my mask but was very uncomfortable. Upon my third trip back (because I had to wait for the lenses to be put into my frames) , I again wore my mask. Again, he said he couldn't hear me and looked over at the associate and she smirked back at him. They should respect customers! How do they know if I'm battling a serious illness or if I live with a compromised partner??? I took my glasses because I'd already paid for them. I then walked into Goldberg's next door who requested wearing a mask!! I will be sure to share this with coworkers and friends. read more

I've been going to North Folk for many years. The crew the is very professional. They have a great assortment of frames and it's simple to get your glasses. All you do is see the Doctor who is on location during business hours, he will make your prescription, pick a frame, with in a week you'll have your glasses. Perhaps best, most efficient interaction I've ever had with any health care provider in my 56 years. Saw a "floater" in my left eye on a Friday night, an unlikely but potential sign of a damaged retina needing immediate treatment. Walked into North Fork Optical the next Saturday morning without calling ahead and was seen immediately. Doctor came out, smiled and shook my hand, put some drops in my eye to dilate my pupil, and fully examined my eye ten minutes later, patiently explaining everything to me along the way. (No retinal damage thankfully.) Professional and friendly staff. Whole thing took 25 minutes. read more

The office is nicely appointed, very clean and well designed. The staff are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The selection and offers of frames and eyeglasses are tremendous and not overprice. Bestof all is the Doctor. He is precise, timely and attentive with easy explanations. No doubt he is the best optomotrist on North Fork but very unassuming. HIghly recommend seeking this office out. And it has the friendliest timely reminders of appointments. I worked in midtown for 15 years and then in San Francisco for 20 years. This service was superior to the best available in either NYC or SF while lacking any pretentious attitude. read more

I have been going here for a couple of years now and every time I leave with a smile on my face. Whenever I arrive either early or late I am always taking in for my eye appointment pretty fast. Which is really saying something because sometimes you get stuck waiting at other places. They have a huge selection of brand names and not brand name glasses. The last time I was there they even told me they could order a pair through a catalog if they did not carry it. The one thing I really liked was the honesty of the women helping me select which frames to order. As we all know when you are alone trying on glasses it is very difficult to see what really looks good on you. After trying what had to be 50 pairs of glasses the women advised me to get these larger frame glasses which I was a little hesitated because I do not like change... however when they came in I got so many compliments on them.. she really knew what she was talking about. It was so nice not to be rushed because like I said I must have tried on 50 pairs and yet the women patiently helped me until I made my final choice. Overall the appointment is very professional and service was on point. read more

Seems to be the only eyeglass place out here - so after an extensive eye exam in NYC off I went in search of some eyeglasses - my prescription has changed dramatically so I need not only eyeglasses (two pairs) but sunglasses and now ready glasses. So, four pairs of glasses - I have eye insurance - covers one pair - the other 3 are going to be out of my pocket - but its fine, I can see - so need to do it - in I go - coming from the gym and looking probably not like the richest customer in the world - after 10 minutes they finally acknowledge me - I say I just would like to see some glasses please - he says do you have insurance - I say well I do but I need multiple pairs so let me just see what I like - my insurance only covers one pair - he says well I need to know what insurance so I can show you the right price range - I say that has nothing to do with what I will get - so he says well you do know that eyeglasses are expensive. In quite the tone - so what was he insinuating? HMMM - just guess - that I could not afford eye glasses? He was so arrogant - then says well look around but many are very expensive - of course I left ....I work hard for my money (and yes I do have some money) and I choose not to support local businesses that blow me off - had to drive 40 minutes to another optical store - but bought the following: 1. Pair of Eyeglasses - insurance paid for all but 140.00. 2. Second pair of eyeglasses - total cost 490.00 3. Sunglasses - total cost 540.00 4. Reading glasses - total cost 440.00 So I will let this arrogant business do the math because that is the total amount of business they lost. Not to mention that my daughter just broke her glasses about an hour ago - so when I go pick up my glasses she will get hers.......probably another 500 bucks. And I paid for all this on my platinum amex card. I hate ignorance and arrogance and this place is the textbook description of both. But i got the last laugh - and much nicer glasses then they had anyway. read more

I'm a long time patient at North Fork Optical and have always been comfortable that I'll get an accurate prescription and a good pair of glasses. Dr Eilbert always makes sure my prescription is correct by putting the prescription in what they call a trial frame and also making sure my eyes are healthy. The rest of the staff Brian,Gina and Christina always make sure have a great looking frame and that it fits properly. The staff always makes me feel welcome and that's why I keep coming back each year. read more
