We had never been here despite living close to it. The service was excellent. We got a table quickly early on a Friday night. The portion sizes are huge. I had the California burrito which was so tasty. I can't wait to have it again. My husband has the taco plate and was excited to have taco options that included seafood. Ate here last night for post holiday meal with visiting family and very disappointed so won't be going back. Service was poor, dinner was okay but then we ordered 3 desserts and 2 were bad. We got there just at Happy Hour around 3pm on a Sunday so was nice to see we could save a few dollars on the items on the regular menu I like anyway. I was excited to try oysters but they were not as good as I have had them before and the Elote I got was Burt on one side which they covered with the sauce. So unfortunately got to knock a couple of Stars off The California burrito was actually really good so I do recommend that and the margarita with the shaker was a nice touch. I also ordered the shrimp taco but was so over loaded that it was hard to eat with your hands as everything kept falling off so I had to use a knife and fork to get things in one bite. Amazing food, amazing service, but... AGAIN a Denver restaurant requiring an absurd "service fee" for back of house of 6% with no signage. Sorry, but it's silly. I'm not ok with 1-2%, but I let that go. 6% is coming out of your servers' tips (now doing 14%) because you chose to not pay your employees more and assume the customer will cover. If you want to require a 20%, or a 6% fee, put a notice up so consumers can decide. Your neighbors Lowry beer garden include 20%, but at least they let customers know. Will come back, but will continue to "tip" 14%. read more

North County is one of those places I'll always come back to, even though I no longer live on that side of town. It's charming, tasty, and the service has always been excellent for me. We went in for Saturday brunch and were seated immediately. To be fair, we went when they opened at 10am. It didn't fill up completely by the time we were done, but there were a few larger groups and the bar had a handful of people. I love the Southern California vibe. The menu reflects SoCal's north county charm. I had the Huevos Rancheros, a mimosa with freshly squeezed juice, and shared the tres leches French toast. I'm not much of a Huevos Rancheros gal, but it came highly recommended by our server so I gave it a chance. I wanted to lick the plate after I was done, it was so good!! The tres leches French toast was also yummy. It could've used a touch more sauce, but it was still delicious. All in all, excellent untapped spot for a weekend brunch. read more

We came here for dinner the other night with friends, and were very happy with our meal. We started with the watermelon salad, which was fresh and had a nice zing to it. We also shared chips and guac, which was good. I had fish tacos, which were delicious and filling, with a fresh, fruity salsa and cabbage slaw on top. I was also a big fan of the strawberry lemonade, which I did my best to drink slowly. You will want to suck the whole glass down! Somehow I missed a picture of the Ahi Tina Guacamole again but consistency was there and was so delicious I'd order it as an entree in the future. We tried additional tacos this time including grilled fish, filet mignon and both blackened and beer battered shrimp. I think my favorite is still the beer battered fish tacos but all were still very good. We sat inside this time and it feels like such a welcoming neighborhood spot. There are lots of kids with parents or families and many folks enjoying happy hour. I could see this place becoming our "cheers" if we lived in the neighborhood. If you've seen Maverick and loved it you need to visit this restaurant. As soon as I walked in the bar and decor reminded me instantly of the movie. The staff was very knowledgeable of the menu but they are a little short staffed so be patient and enjoy their amazing margs! Truly I think they're my favorite in town. The chips are light and crispy and go well with everything. The fish tacos so good and I loved that they gave me a battered version and a grilled one, both were delicious. So disappointed in this place. We came in with high hopes. Its next to the air and space museum and had a cool vibe when you walk in. The grilled veg tacos were okay, but the cauliflower tacos were barely edible. There was a garlic aioli piled so high onto the tortilla which paired horribly with light and fresh cauliflower and kale. This was just a bad choice. Couldn't eat it unfortunately. *Guajillo Caesar Salad was fine. The croutons were BOMB but it came w 2 little slivers of avocado and the smallest drizzle of dressing. I took it down quick cuz I was starving but I should've probably asked for more dressing. Mostly dry. *Tortilla Soup was good not great. The paper medicine cups for the toppings were a strange, strange move.. *Al Pastor taco was super tough meat and oddly sweet. *Original Spicy Marg isn't spicy at all, but a good marg. *House Made Paloma Bottle: FIRE 10/10 I'm hoping they had some specialty dishes that may have been better than what we got? I did a takeout order from here today and ordered the California burrito and the Ahi Tuna starter. I did modify the burrito, removing the nacho cheese inside and removing the smother of green chili. This may be one of the best cooked California burritos I've ever had. The carne asada was still tender and I was able to bite right into it. It wasn't chewy at all! I could have used a few more French fries in there, but this burrito is worth bragging about. The ahi tuna ceviche was very refreshing! Was in the area for a tournament and found this plAce on Yelp and decided to check it out. How I have never driven through the Lowry area is a mystery. What a great location for this place. When we walked in it was a little awkward. Their entryway is small and there were people just standing there chatting. There wasn't a hostess or even a sign asking you to wait or seat yourself. When we finally got a table, our waitress brought us water instantly and asked what we would like to drink. We didn't even get a chance to review the menu first. By this time business picked up. It wasn't super busy but filling up. As a result, our waitress didn't come back to get our drink order for a long time. We ended up ordering our drinks and food together. I honestly have never waited so long for a drink to come. It practically came with our food. Thankfully, the food and margaritas were tasty, I'd come again, but they really need to step up their service. The staff were all polite but not prompt or personable. read more

On this visit the roasted vegetable medley on the enchiladas was a huge pile of mushrooms peppers and corn not my favorite and wish the menu would've spelled that out. Made my first trip to North County today. It's always been on my list to check out for tacos. But did you know they have brunch?!? Neither did I and apparently neither does the public because it was essentially empty at 10am. My girlfriend had juevos rancheros and I had the breakfast tacos. Both were fantastic and delicious. I've been here a few times, I've noticed it's become more of a self-service establishment as opposed to the last time we were there. Upon arrival we were told we can sit anywhere it's open. There were already cups and a carafe of water at the table for us to pour ourselves. No ice offered even though it's hot in the patio. The waitress welcomed us and said there's a QR code to scan to place our order. We did that without an issue. Minutes later the food came out. We ate. We were asked in passing if everything was fine, it was. When we were done we sat there until we realized we can scan the QR code to pay for our meal. The checkout had an automatic 20% gratuity. I honestly feel like there was hardly any service to be given a tip. Another reviewer mentioned there was a service fee added to be split among the kitchen staff, there was no mention of this on the menu, by the waitress, no sign that I've seen, or even on the online ordering menu. I didn't even notice. With all the taxes, service fee and the societal normal 20% tip. A $50 meal would cost the consumer $70. Absolutely ridiculous. 2/5 on the food: Food was ok but overpriced. $16 for 3 tacos and the toppings is on a single corn tortilla that tore in half on the 2nd bite. Overall I think the change where it's more towards a self-service establishment by the owners was a terrible move. It may be cost effective for them but takes away from North County being considered a restaurant. 0/5 stars overall because the value for what the average consumer pays here is not worth it. read more

Our first visit to North County was on a perfect patio day. The queso fundido was aaaamazing! Kind of a large serving for 2 people but who would complain about that? They're fresh chips we're perfectly crispy and not greasy. The grapefruit margarita was magical! Fresh squeezed grapefruit and lime juices with a tajin rim. No sweet and sour or triple sec to make it too sweet and give you heartburn later. I highly suggest you give it a try. Now on to the food... we went with tacos and they did not disappoint. The Al Pastor, which is their house taco, has the perfect marriage of shredded pork and pineapple. It was the stand out! The charcoal grilled shrimp and fried shrimp were good as well. My husband said the spicy chorizo and potato taco was f*cking delicious! We can't wait to go back and try the enchiladas. Luis was our server and he was very attentive. Let me start by saying North County is a great restaurant! It's tucked away in Lowry and has quickly became one of our go to spots worth the 35 minute drive. The ambiance is all about the beach, they have beach wallpaper, and surfboards all over and it transports you to the beach in California. The service is always great, they have been extremely busy each time we have visited and they still sat us immediately. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, especially on this visit we sat on the patio and it started to rain and we didn't have any cover over us and we had our 8 month old son. They cleaned the table next to us that was under an umbrella and let us sit there so our son wouldn't get wet. The food has been delicious every time we have gone and each time we have tried something different. We started off with the queso fundido which is our favorite appetizer when we come, we love that you get homemade chips and tortillas to eat with it. This visit I went with the California burrito, let me say this thing was massive! The flavor was great and the carné asada inside was cooked perfectly. The green chili wasn't spicy at all which I was bummed about because I love heat but it still had good flavor. I also ordered the piña picante house soda which was delicious and had a nice little kick of alcohol that you couldn't taste but could definitely feel towards the end of the meal. My wife ordered the fish and chips, any time she sees fish and chips on the menu she has to try them they are one of her favorite things to order. She liked them and said they were cooked perfectly, her only complaint was they were a little small for the fish but were very generous with the fries. The fries we delicious and were extra crispy but soft on the inside with great seasoning. My wife also ordered the cantarito which is her favorite drink at this restaurant, definitely a must try! This restaurant is a must if you are a foodie in Colorado or even if you are here for a visit! We are always excited to visit again and try another new item on the menu. read more

I love this place for their cheap taco happy hour deals, $3 select tacos and empanadas (plus more for cheap prices). I normally don't like seafood tacos but I got the rock lobster which was crunchy and delicious and the el pastor tacos had the perfect balance of savory with a sweet touch form the charred pineapple. I also got the chicken empanadas, which was good but was missing a bit of flavor (or maybe some cheese inside ). They know how to make a great and strong margarita. Happy hour prices are $6 for original and $ for strawberry margaritas. I'm not sure if this applies to the full restaurant but it will if you sit at the bar. Bar staff were friendly and were able fully describe and recommend menu items instead of just saying everything is good when asked. read more
