The tacos are great and the now make tortillas fresh made to order! Stepped up there game so good! The Rajas tacos are so good! Highly recommend it! We had items from the late Night menu which included items for $3. The $3 margaritas packed a punch! The food was average. Good, but not over the top. This place has a great happy hour and solid food! We have been several times and have tried many of the appetizers on the happy hour menu, all of which have been good. This visit, we had -Nachos ($7.25 during happy hour): they come loaded with toppings and are layered to distribute the toppings nicely. We tried them with roasted chicken on one and chicken tinga on the other, and the tinga was slightly better. -Charcoal grilled oyster: just okay, would skip this next time. It had a lot of poblanos on it but still managed to be a bit bland -Baja chicken sandwich: this was great. The breading was very light but crispy, and the spicy slaw and creamy aioli worked very well together. The fries that came with it were also very crispy and were pretty good. -Build-your-own burger with pepperjack cheese, pickled onions, and candied bacon: the patty was cooked to medium and was well-seasoned. The service was quick, and they have a cute patio area. Overall, the food was good and the prices were very reasonable. They have daily seafood specials, which we plan to try next time. read more

An unassuming taco spot, in the seemingly middle of nowhere, almost thought we were in the wrong place ... though it's basically around the corner from Wings over the Rockies. I cannot say enough about this place. Great atmosphere with thoughtful decor. Wonderful and knowledgeable servers, drinks on point and oh the food! I'm still dreaming about the ceviche. I've had a lot of tacos in my day, but this place is really special. Don't skip the dessert, the Fried Plantains & Ice Cream are a perfect ending! The pluses are the service is good and parking spots are usually available in the free parking lot and on the nearby street. The food is is good but not exceptional and the decor is average. There are lots of booths for seating but the seating is very close to the table- it works for smaller sized people but feels crowded for average to larger sized people. read more

I've always wanted to check out this revamped area of the AFB I used to work at years ago. I passed by the establishments when i went to other establishments there and I was in the neighborhood last night and i finally made the plunge to try the food. It was a pleasant experience. I had their big bowl with carne asada and was definitely determined to eat it all and it was so good i achieved my self style challenge. The margaritas I had were tasty as well. The only thing I didn't like was i initially wanted their enchiladas dish with carne asada but they said the beef will be put on top of the enchiladas and not inside. I couldn't fathom eating it like that but I'll guess I'll try it next time. The service was great and questions answered without attitude. Also a great spot for Pokémon. read more

Overall, a good experience. We were seated fairly quickly but once the food came our waitress didn't come back for a long time. Hubby tried to order a local beer on draft but she advised us that they didn't have any as they were leaning more towards "California" cuisine. Their Saturday special was crab and shrimp enchiladas and they were very creamy and cheesy. Very little crab meat inside. Ahi tuna bowl - was good. Tasted like any other. Coming on a Wednesday night for date night and we didn't need a reservation. Being from Southern California this is very decent California Mexican food (not traditional Mexican food). Love the theme of the restaurant - very beachy and reminds me of home!! They have indoor and outdoor patio seating, we were seating almost immediately. Our server was on top of it! Bringing out our drinks and food very quickly! It all tasted quick good and had delicious flavor. I did take off one star because of the the strange fees along with the lack of chips and salsa. I heard about their late night menu and was excited to try! Service was good. I felt like we were taken care of well. Our waitress was attentive and kind. We started off with the Queso Fondido without the chorizo since my company is vegetarian. It was fine, I liked the burnt cheese that was at the bottom. However, it didn't feel like it was anything special. It was a bit plain. We got the three dollar margaritas off of their late night menu. Although they're small portions they do pack a punch. The value for what you get it pretty great. I got two tacos. The birria taco and the mahi mahi taco. The birria taco was fine, again, nothing special and I've had better at plenty other places. The mahi mahi was better though. It had a good sauce that compliments the fish well. Overall, it was fine. Nothing that would make me want to return other than the $3 margaritas. read more

Our gym is right across the street so we popped in for lunch last Saturday and it was delicious! Quiet and kinda tucked in the corner, this place had a fun SoCal beachy vibe to it. The service was great and our waiter was super nice. We each got a taco platter. I had calabasitas, fish, and pastor. My husband had birria and I can't remember what else. All of it was super tasty except the pastor. I found that to be very dry and not enough pineapple. The birria was yummy and cheesy. I think I had snapper. It was delicious as well. Went on a Friday night around 5:30pm. It was pretty busy but I figured since Wings Over the Rockies was right next door, that would account for it. Didn't have to wait, which was nice. Staff were very friendly and took good care of us, but the food was really mediocre. I was going to get tacos, but the Friday special was fish & chips & I am a sucker for that. The fish was pretty bland. No real flavor on its own so the sauces had to make up for it. My wife got the birria beef tacos and they were super soft and soggy. Any birria tacos we have had before are really crunchy outside with tender meat inside and this was not the case. So overall, pretty middle of the road. I've been to North County now twice. Once for brunch and once for dinner and I'm glad we came back. I'm not much of a brunch person, but dinner count me in. We started off getting the Small Macho Nachos with no protein. Score for us because it was happy hour and we saved a few bucks. I should have ordered a margarita because they looked really good on a warm night, but ended up with a soda. I forgot to take photos of our dinner, but I got the California Burrito that had french fries in it. Never thought to put French fries in, but glad they did. I would say the burritos are at least the same size of Chipotles maybe even bigger. The dining room is very nice, but I recommend their patio if you enjoy the fresh air. Service was great. Our waiter spaced out our appetizer, so our dinner wouldn't be on top of each other. read more

My husband and I ordered chips and guacamole to share and each got a few tacos. The guacamole was very simple and not really worth the cost... it was missing something! I tried a red snapper taco and a birria taco. Both were fine but once again missing something! Maybe some salt would have done the trick for everything! We haven't been to North County in a long time so i decided to have my birthday dinner celebration there to enjoy some tacos and margs. We arrived a little early and the hostess was super sweet and cleared a spot at the bar for us to grab a drink and wait for the previous party to leave the table to be cleaned. My husband and I each ordered a cocktail. When they came out his drink was literally less than have the pour that mine was. he asked the bartender why the drink was so low (especially for an $11 cocktail in a high ball glass) and her response was, that is the way it is. So that was that I guess. He said it tasted really good but had no booze in it at all and it was about 3 sips of liquid. Kind of sad. The hostess came back over and said our table was ready. We slid down in a booth and immediately I knew we weren't going to be able to fit 7 people. Luckily the hostess noticed as well and brought a chair for the end so we didn't have to be sitting on top of each other. Our server was awesome. Hard of hearing and missed a few things but he was quick to admit if he did something wrong and fixed it right away. He also allowed us to use our Denver passbooks on separate checks. We had 3 for the table. The food was really good. I always love the build your own tortilla soup. It is a go to every time I go to North County. I also some some fresh oysters and an al pastor taco. Everything tasted great and I even had leftover. About halfway through dinner a friend of mine's drink also got shorted, so I would be aware of them making tiny cocktails and overcharging. Sounds like maybe the bartenders need to revaluate how much they put in a high ball glass. Otherwise, great place. read more

It's a nice patio restaurant in Lowry area with good drinks and the food was good too. The waiter was super helpful and pretty timely. When i go back to see my kids I would try it again. their green chile was a little different, more gravy like, I really liked the texture. Stopped in for a quick dinner. Even though it was HH, decided to order off the regular menu for both drinks and food. Our server was friendly but didn't always listen. (It was noisy due to how busy it was.) I ordered the ahi tuna burrito bowl with some substitutions due to allergies and they were very accommodating. Plenty of tuna but it had a bit of a fishy aftertaste. My ranch water was served in a Topo Chico bottle. Interesting twist. I wondered where the rest of the Topo Chico went since they had to empty some of the bottle to add the tequila and lime. read more

The food here is tasty and fresh and the ambiance is great but they really need to chill on rushing people out of there so that they can flip tables . The last thing I want after a long work week is to be rushed to pay my check when I'm still enjoying my drink and dropping about two hundred bucks on dinner. For those of you who have not noticed, the bottom of the menu has box that states, "Rather than raise menu prices, we add a 6% kitchen fee to your check. This fee is then distributed to our hardworking culinary staff who do not participate in gratuities. As always, we are grateful for your patronage and generosity." Just price your food and treat your kitchen with the respect they deserve. We will all still support your restaurant but will all feel less duped. The food flavors ARE well balanced and thoughtfully created. However, without a say in the mandatory 6% add-on fee, the kitchen should then be held accountable for executing the dishes with precision. Nearly all of our hot food was delivered NOT HOT. The fish dishes contained an unacceptable amount of pin bones and, while the flavor is so well imagined in your house-made guacamole, can you slow down for a second and actually make SOME EFFORT to break up the large chucks of avocado? I have done culinary workshops at elementary schools with superior execution of food preparation. Service is attentive, even during the peak dinner rush. During the summer months, when the patio is open, the staff impressively never fails to maintain the same level of attention to the patio guest as the main dining areas. We only hit one hiccup theme with out servers in the last five visits with friends to North County, at that has been that the staff seem oblivious, or poorly versed, in the daily specials and how to charge for them. For example, I should not have to remind you that your Saturday burger BOGO50 special, EACH WEEK, should be reflected on the final bill. The beauty of eating in the other "North County" (Northern California's Petaluma, Napa, Sonoma... ) is the simplicity and freshness of the food. If I may, the "honesty" of the dish. Your SoCal version is lazy. To call yourselves "North County" and infuse this distasteful kitchen fee is anything but honest. If you want honest, how about going the complete opposite way and eliminate all fees altogether, and just price your product where you and the public can meet. read more

North County is a neighborhood gem for us, and we absolutely love it. We usually visit during happy hour, but there's also a late happy hour we haven't tried yet--but we definitely will soon! The drinks are solid, the food is delicious, and the staff are always friendly. The atmosphere has a great, hip vibe that makes it a fun spot to unwind.
