I had an experience I've never imagined having or had in my 39 years. I'm a CO native and was told by the manager on duty today that I: "am a BITCH and should go back to South America." I don't believe any kind of professional would day drink on her job and lash out at clientele in this fashion. I have been coming to North County since IAN was a manager there in 2015 and the service was also 150% on par. I booked a reservation on the patio with plenty of anticipation for a birthday group. I came from a long long journey. In addition 2 tables were booked under my spouses and friends names for tables of 6 people each. Since we arrived I saw the manager on duty gossiping with the server (a young brunette female) and telling her not to split the check or add tables or make any additional accommodations for our group. We had to split the groups and have friends sit in the blazing hot afternoon sun with no shade. Guests in my party had to ask for water and napkins multiple times. The server tried to rush out payments saying her shift was ending when we didn't even eat our meals. No dessert or further drinks or beverages were offered. I approached the manager on duty who is a female with long medium brown hair placed in a pony tail. She was wearing a blue shirt and jeans and has a man like build. I approached her to ask about payment. She had a nasty defensive and avoidant attitude and was gossiping with the same server we had once again. I asked her if she was the manager. She said yes and tried to walk away. I asked her about out service and let her know we traveled from out of the country and made this reservation with much anticipation for a group of 12 and 2 additional groups of 6 (we have email confirmations for all of these reservations). She said the restaurant only accommodates small groups and that I abused their service. Not sure how when we only had 1 server and came at a non peak time (2:00pm). I called the restaurant and spoke with them twice regarding said reservations well ahead of time. The manager proceeds to argue and be super aggressive. She said we didn't tip the server; which was not true: the bill was split into 5 parts and 4 of the 5 groups tipped 20-25% when basics such as shade and water and napkins had to be asked for. This was a HORRIBLE experience and this manager needs to be dealt with ASAP. The literal worst experience I've ever had in my entire life at a restaurant . read more

This place has gone downhill over the years. I gave it 5 stars years ago when they opened but the service has declined and the food portions smaller and more expensive. The tacos have significantly shrunk in size. NC is now an average restaurant with a pricey ticket. read more

Absolutely love this food, since I came to CO from the South months ago and cannot find the taste I miss of great Mexican food!!! (Here in America ;) ) From me ordering as a risk on Doordash one time, to now going to pick up orders and have yet to dine-in; it hasn't failed me!!! Really came here to shoutout a gorgeous bartender who helped me with my to-go order today; I forgot her name but she's a Florida girl and her personality topped my day off after working late at night and wanting North County as my brunch haha.. Great environment when I walked in and was even offered hot tea for my lost voice by that friendly lady and as a woman from the service industry myself, I admire all of the detail in the staff AND FOOD!!!! I used to come to north country 3-4 days a week for either happy hour or lunch by myself or with friends. Lately the only reason I go is to see some familiar faces who I care about. The food hasn't been great and the automatic service fee is annoying. I also used to order quite a lot off menu and have been told by several new people that I can't do that. Trying to save calories and make something when you have all the stuff to do so isn't great for me. Hope this help to make North county the place that it can be. There is more and more competition in the area. Take care of your employees and they neighborhood will support you. When there is high turnover it seems that you are not a group people care to work for and it scares off loyal people like me. read more

The ambiance and service was good. The drinks were hit or miss. The Aloe Elixir tasted very watered down. The Coquito was very thick and sweet which felt nice on a cold night. The Apple of My Eye was my favorite drink. It's like apple pie in a cup. The grilled oysters were ok. The ahi tuna ceviche was nothing like a ceviche. The tuna was very good but the bowl was full of cabbage and there wasn't a base sauce or acid in the ceviche. The enchiladas were pretty good. The burrito was ok. This isn't really an update to my previous review. I still think they have some of the best fish tacos in town. This is an update for the brunch. The patio still rocks but has that California vibe with the reggae jamming in the background. We had the migas and the breakfast tacos. Honestly, the migas were really good but I would get the tacos going forward because they were that delicious! I had a mimosa, not common for me, and I thought it was one of the better ones I'd had at a brunch in recent memory. I used to love north county so much but it has changed recently. So many servers and bartenders who I had great relationships have left. I dined there last night and had amazing service from my server. She made a small mistake on the check and she went to go talk to the manager who proceeded to yell at her in-front of our table. Located inside the Lowry Hangar plaza, this is an awesome place for yummy drinks and Mexican food! Their outdoor area features comfy couches along with a high top and various tables, so suck up that sun as you drink a marg! We came here on this beautiful afternoon for some beverages and apps. Loving Paloma's, I had an "adult soda" Paloma which has tequila, grapefruit juice, rosemary pink peppercorn nectar, wild strawberry liquor all cutely bottled!! It was so delicious! Aside from their array of bottled sodas, they have sangrias and margaritas come in little shakers as they pour table side :) happy hour features great drink deals! For food, we split the queso fundido which was the cheesiest queso with chorizo and pico served with chips and tortillas.... unbelievably good! This was my second visit to North County in the past few months and unfortunately it wasn't great. The food wasn't the disappointing factor from either visit. The first time I had left my sunglasses and didn't realize until I reached my car. I went back into the restaurant and the manager was standing with two servers and trying my glasses on. The next visit I had was with two of my coworkers and when they brought the receipt they didn't bring the itemized copy. I asked for the itemized receipt after I had signed the copy for the restaurant tipping 20%. Once I reviewed the itemized receipt the following day I noticed they had already charged me a 21% gratuity. Needless to say I will not be coming back. read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant. It is close by, and sounded good. I had a carne asada street taco, and a beef short ribs taco. I also got rice, beans, chips, and small guacamole and salsa. The guacamole was pretty good, made fresh. The salsa and chips were also good, something I think some restaurants overlook. The black beans were tasty, but could have used a little more cooking time. Its hard to get dried beans soft enough I find. The rice was white rice with garlic and cilantro..did I taste butter in there? Not sure. It was not good. Baja or not, no bueno. I was excited about the short rib taco. The tortilla gets dipped in the cooking liquid first. It was far too salty, plus the ribs in my taco, anyway, were very fatty. Like, a big piece of fat that was off-putting. I took a bite of the huge carne asada street taco...normally those are grilled steak. If I am not mistaken the meat used was from a roast. Or tasted that way. It was not very good, in my opinion. I understand not everyone has the same take on Mexican food, and I appreciate a different approach. And I have had California mex. Stopped by for a few drinks and some apps before we went off to an event at Wings Over the Rockies. We didn't have a problem getting seated so we were happy. First visit here, so we checked out the menu. Now the "un- fun" part begins. We waited 20 minutes or more before we even saw our server. Granted, the got a bit busy after we got there but still not an excuse to at least offer some water before our server makes it over. Once she got there, my guy ordered a soft drink. I waited for a strawberry margarita. From there it was longer than 20 minutes before our server came back for our food order. The funny part is the server was pleasant and helpful but the service was really not that great. Wait time wise , not so great. And the food? It came out quickly. Go figure. I had two veggie tacos. The corn tortillas were house made and I found the vegetables wonderful. The squash, onion,cheese and onion "straws" very tasty. The vegetables were grilled and flavorful and the "straws" were a bit of fun on the tacos. BTW, these are street taco size, meaning small. The vegetables made them filling tho' and bits fell to the plate so luckily for me I was full when done. My other half was saving his appetite for a chili dog at the event we were heading out to so he didn't order BUT he had his eye on the shrimp dish he watched being taken to a few tables. My drink was really, really good. I was expecting it to be from a mix but the ingredients were fresh and seem housemade. I still could see strawberry fragments in the mix. It was really good. I watched the bartenders since were seated right by them and they really seem to be making crafted drinks, not so much premade/mix drinks. The decor is nice, kinda North County vibe. Overall I have to rate this place a 2. I would like to come back and see if slow service was a fluke or not. read more

Amazing loaded nachos and the fish tacos were also great! The nachos serve 3 people from our estimates. The fish tacos are served based on the various fishes of the day - when we were there it was tilapia, orange roughy and salmon. We just got the first two. The tilapia was very good but the orange roughy was even better - it's the way they seasoned it and seemed to roast the fish. Just amazing for a fish taco. Go - try them. Great alcohol selection also - from Mezcal, to tequila, to whisky, to beer. This is the place for selection. The cocktails were very good as well. We aren't usually sweet cocktail people but had the grapefruit marg and a blueberry lavendar mojito and were not disappointed. They had a nice flavor and you could actually taste the alcohol and not just the sugar. Service was really good as well. Good TVs and not too crowded for a Sunday night. Taco taco taco. Start with chips and Guacamole. It's mandatory start to a meal here. Don't forget the short rib taco. You would be missing an a great option. I also opted for chicken and grilled fish. Both were good but the short rib is better. I was not impressed with the tuna "fish" taco. Very flat. The sauce carried the offering and overpowered the fish. Average. Chicken was similar, not much to jump off the plate. I'll stick with the short rib next time. Added a silver coin margarita. It was tasty, but very small for 12$. All in all, the staff is very good, and most things tasted fine, good presentation, but something was definitely missing in my experience. read more

I have been coming to North County for years and just wanted to give a shout out to the delicious food, ambiance and service. The tacos (Al pastor is mouth watering- soo good I dream about it), the mission bowl, and the enchiladas are all my go-to choices. Plus the nachos are a huge portion and delicious. I'm also in love with the drinks- strawberry marg, lavender lemonade - all so good. You can't go wrong with any of their cocktails. I used to always get the churros but this last time had the chocolate cinnamon cake- wow - it's my new favorite. The patio is awesome in the late afternoons/evening for happy hour. Service is also good - everyone seems young, fun and happy to serve and bring you whatever you need. Highly recommend for a chill night out, lunch, brunch, or happy hour. read more

My husband, friends, and I visited North County last week for my birthday and we all loved it! The menu has great options, and the food was great -- the al pastor is really good. Even better, though, was the service -- the hostess apologized several times for the wait, but we were a group of 6 w/o a reservation and expected to wait a while (the wait didn't end up being long). Our server, ***John W***, went above and beyond. He also apologized a lot for the wait, again when we didn't really have to wait for anything. Once he found it was my birthday he was extremely generous and accommodating. Couldn't have had better service!! We will definitely be back. read more

When I walked in this place, I liked the atmosphere. Not too loud, not to quiet, the layout was cozy. I choose to sit at the bar, I was told that this was the best seat in the house, the bartender poured me some water and greeted me......and then 10-15 minutes later came back to ask me if I wanted something to eat or drink. The whole time I was wondering if I had put in my invisibility cloak, but no... she was just busy pouring drinks for all of the orders that were coming in. The other bartender didn't even acknowledge me and even made eye contact multiple times. The bartender that greeted me and took my order was friendly but I think service could have been a lot faster than that. I ordered the green pork chile and a corona. The chile was thick and chunky which was good but had no spice to it at all. It was bit of a let down because I had seen that this place had won best chile of the year a few years ago so my expectations were high. My experience was that this was one step above something you might find in a can.... definitely not "best of" quality. I probably would skip this place if you are hunting for the best chile in Denver... the other food around me seemed decent... but I was hunting for top notch green chile, I didn't find it here. read more

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Food was ok..Carne asada fries were decent, but for 14 bucks... kind of a rip off. I watched a ladle of canned cheese being poured all over it. Fries essentially were swimming in cheap cheese. Server was "training" a high school kid. They didnt even card and both servers fingered the rims of our drinks. The kid training was definitely too young to serve alcohol. Silverware and plates were dirty. (Old food caked on and hair galore). The 20% service is completely BS, let alone the pricing of the actual sub par food. We were told about a "no big deal" service charge then told the laundry list of thing they didn't have. The food was so yummy! I did the waitlist on yelp and it was worth it. We got a table outside and it was kind of cool but they have blankets and heaters. We got the queso and it was so creamy and the chips are not store bought. I'm from Texas we take our queso very seriously. It was top notch. I got tacos and they were on a cute small plate. My boss loathes the Denver food scene but raves about North County. Living in Baker, Lowry might as well be the moon, but finally I was in the area and got to see for myself. I stopped in for an early lunch. Their menu is larger and more expansive than I expected, they even have Saturday and Sunday brunch. I only had eyes for tacos. They have a chalkboard menu with their fish of the day, off of that I ordered a tuna taco plus a standard menu carne asada and baja fried swai taco. Both fish tacos came on flour shells with a cabbage/mango/papaya slaw, the carne asada came on corn with cheese, avocado, and red onion. Everything was tasty, service was okay, thankfully no one stopped to ask how everything was while I had a mouthful of taco. Other tacos in the city are about a buck, buck and a half cheaper than those at North County for -in my opinion- the same product. For 3 tacos my bill was $16. If I'm in the area again I would stop in but now that I've experienced it, I won't go out of my way to return. read more

Visiting Denver and stumbled upon this gem. Tacos were on point and drinks were even for the snobbiest cocktailers (I am a specialty cocktail who**). Their queso is spicy and served in cast iron. After it sits for a few it crusts on the bottom for the most amazing topping for the crisp chips they serve with it. Go here. You will not be disappointed. read more

What a great place for happy hour and a wonderful patio. This little gem in Lowry! We were craving a little dining al fresco while the weather is still nice and headed to to North County. The patio was wonderful and we made it just in time for Happy Hour (my favorite). I started with a strawberry margarita made with fresh crushed strawberries. It came in a cute little mini shaker so I could pour myself. Love that interactive element. We ordered several tasty treats from the HH menu including the 1/2 lb peel and eat shrimp, tacos el pastor, rock lobster tacos, empanadas and charcoal grilled oysters. We also ordered the Avocado Guajillo Caesar Salad. The shrimp were seasoned and cooked perfectly and who doesn't love a pile of peel and eat shrimp. the real highlight was the tacos el pastor, they were delicious as well as the rock lobster tacos. They also bring a fiery red hot sauce and a green tomatillo sauce to the table so you can dress it anyway you like. The waiter warned us that the red sauce was really hot...but, I really didn't think he was, but it had great flavor and lovely addition to the tacos el pastor. I didn't try the empanada but was told it was amazing... The caesar salad was delicious with a slightly spicy dressing. I was slightly disappointing with the grilled oyster, it was a little over cooked, but nice flavor. I can't wait for my next visit to try a few new things. Showed up with my husband and family to have a few drinks and enjoy the weather but the restaurant basically turned us away saying there was a 40min wait cus the kitchen was backed up. I told the girl that we were there to drink in the patio and wouldn't be ordering food but she said she just didn't have anywhere to sit us cus she had a wait list. Nobody was there waiting and the whole section of couches in the patio was available, couple of tables as well although one was getting hit by the sun. More like 3 1/2 stars. Nice atmosphere with a cool bar in the center of the restaurant. The menu is interesting with lots of seafood options, like a combination of Mexican and California dishes (mussels, oysters etc.) I went for lunch/brunch with a few Friends and I'd say the comments were mixed. It seems that the eggs dishes were a little bland. I had the breakfast tacos and honestly, two bland tacos filled mostly with eggs (no side) for $9, that's simply ridiculous. One of my friends breakfast enchiladas were also quite bland and disappointing. But others were happy with their crab cakes Benedict ($15) though. Lastly, maybe it's bad luck but our waitress was not very friendly, borderline rude at the start. I don't think I will go back, unless I am in the area (not many other options in the neighborhood.) read more

Our neighborhood go-to for tacos. We love this place and have been there many times. It is always great food, great atmosphere and very affordable.
