Dinner at Norman's was absolutely incredible! We had a dinner reservation for 6:30pm and we noticed online that they had a happy hour every day from 5pm till 7pm, so we showed up at 6pm to grab a drink at the bar before we sat down at our table for dinner. Keep in mind that the restaurant gets much busier and a bit louder around 7pm, so we recommend getting a reservation a bit earlier if you like a quieter dining experience. I will note that we took part in the Orlando Magical Dining Menu, which is how we discovered this place to begin with. Their 3 course menu for this event is definitely worth the cost and we will be coming back to enjoy food/drinks even without the Magical Dining menu being offered because the experience was that good. Every single staff member was very kind, approachable, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable of both the menu and the establishment. We enjoyed our conversations with the host, the bartender, the waiter, and everyone in between! Whatever training they are giving their staff at this location needs to be studied and implemented everywhere because the customer service alone was phenomenal. The food was incredible as well. Everyone needs to try the Brazilian Conch Chowder. The flavor profile of this dish is so unique and it tastes so good! The Fried Green Tomatoes are excellent as well for an appetizer. While the Fillet Mignon was cooked perfectly (we ordered medium-rare) and everything short the dish tasted great, the Yellowtail Snapper stole the show. The fish practically melts in your mouth and when you add the citrus butter it makes it even better! Lastly we have the desserts. The presentation was beautiful (which also applies to all of the dishes too) and both the Key Lime Pie and the Carrot Cake tasted amazing. Overall, we can't recommend Norman's enough! Without a doubt, this was the worst restaurant experience all 10 of us have ever had. We came expecting a special, upscale dining experience for a birthday celebration, but the evening was incredibly disappointing. The birthday cake we brought in arrived at the restaurant in perfect condition, yet when it was brought back out, it had been completely smashed across the main part of the heart. When we pointed it out, our waiter simply apologized and said he had nothing to do with it, with no real effort to make the situation right. The service was equally unacceptable. We waited approximately 25-30 minutes between courses. When we expressed our concerns to a manager we were told the timing was intentional because this was "fine dining." We have all dined at fine-dining and Michelin-starred restaurants and completely understand properly paced courses, but these delays were excessive. To make matters worse, we had at least five spiders crawling down from the outdoor chandelier directly above our table. For an upscale restaurant, having spiders dropping around our table was extremely unsettling and raised serious concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. The food was also underwhelming, including hard beans in my dish. A different manager named Matthew eventually came out, was kind and apologetic, and made an effort to address our concerns, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, there was very little he could do to salvage the evening at that point. All 10 of us were first-time guests, and we all left feeling extremely disappointed. Between the ruined birthday cake, terrible service, excessive wait times, spiders above our table, and underwhelming food, this was far from the elevated dining experience we expected. This was my first time dining here, and after seeing so many riveting reviews, I came in expecting a top‑tier experience. They delivered.The main dining room is stellar. Very snazzy, elegant, and clearly designed for a premium night out. My party and I decided to dress down and sit on the patio instead, which was also very nice. They've made some renovations already and have more coming, so keep an eye out because that patio is about to be better than ever. Our waiter, John, was nothing short of fabulous. Polite, patient, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu. His drink recommendations were on point, and he makes a mean Old Fashioned. For my appetizer, I went with the Brazilian‑Style Conch Chowder and sheesh!! It was fantastic. Savory, sweet, rich, and easily something I'd come back for again. For my main course, I chose the 8oz Four Peppercorn Roasted Prime Filet Mignon, and that was an excellent call. The steak was prepared perfectly with a sweet glaze that tied everything together. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and light, and the broccolini had great flavor with a nice crunch. Dessert was the Seasonal Sherbet, and it was fire. The piña colada and pineapple fusion was so good I genuinely wished I could buy a pint to take home. Norman's did not disappoint. Another great evening out and my first time ever at Norman's. I was pleasantly surprised as I've dined at other restaurants in the area and I must say , I left full and happy with the service. Came here for thw first time with my daughter and husband to celebrate her promotion at work. Our waiter Jadon made our first time experience there such a pleasant one. Jadon was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. If it wasn't for Jadon I dont think the establishment would of gotten 4 stars. I am used to miami and nyc fast service so this was a slower pace than usual for me. Their current happy-hour drink menu includes $10 cocktails such as the Guava Margarita, Chismosa with Prosecco and passion fruit, Norman's Old Fashioned, The Albatross, and Grey Goose Martinis. They also offer $8 sommelier-selected wines and several $5/7 beers. The food was equally impressive--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their happy-hour menu includes Blue Crab Beignets with yuzu aioli, Chilled Beef Tenderloin Tataki, Truffle Fries, Fish and Chips, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Porchetta, oysters on the half shell, and a chef-selected charcuterie board. We brought a personal dessert for the celebration, but the manager would not allow us to serve it and came across as unnecessarily rude when explaining the policy. I heard about this restaurant through Tik Tok and decided to come here for my early birthday dinner. We had reservations, but they were running behind so we got seated about 20 minutes later. I didn't realize the Magical Dining option was going on so that was nice surprise. For my first course I had the chowder. It was light and flavorful. The only thing that I didn't like about it was the fact that it came out on the colder side and I prefer soups to come out on the hotter side. For my second course I had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and broccolini. It came out exactly how I like it. Very tender and the right amount of flavor. Same thing with this though, the food was on the colder side. Not sure if they typically have the food prepped and just sitting for a while without adding heat to it or something. For my last course I ordered the carrot cake which was made perfectly. Not too sweet and very delicious. For drinks I had the lychee martini which was good, but for me just a bit too sweet. Came here for the first time on a Friday night around 6pm and it wasn't too busy. Vibe is classy and upscale. We ordered the filet mignon and the snapper. The filet was tender and flavorful and the snapper was cooked perfectly, tasted fresh and juicy. Came again on a Thursday night at 6pm for happy hour and that was excellent value, we ordered multiple dishes and they were all great. Pro Tip: They say that you can only order from the happy hour menu if your in the lounge area or outside terrace, but if it isn't too busy they'll let you order from the happy hour menu from the main dining room. And they are also very accommodating towards children, have brought our baby along and they sat us in the back and let us bring our stroller as well. We came to this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. The hostess seemed disinterested though not overtly rude. The waitress however seemed to have it out for us from the moment we ordered water. We rarely drink but it is always a shock to see the abrupt attitude change that can bring with it - in this instance the waitress treated us as "cheap" for the rest of the evening. The restaurant was nearly empty and yet service was exceedingly slow. There were several times we struggled to get the waitresses attention. The blue crab beignets were extremely good. The truffle fries were okay but not fresh. The mash had very little flavor and was chunky which is just not our personal preference. The filet would have been fine but it was undercooked (ordered medium). We were given a bite sized dessert for the birthday but we both tried a nibble and neither of us cared for it (we do have some sweet tooths and it wasn't very sweet). The ambiance was the best part, it was very nice if a bit bright and all staff were dressed smartly. I would not return here. I came here for my Birthday dinner. The hostess and staff are pleasant and professional. We were seated immediately with our reservation. Note: They keep the place chilly. Bring a shawl, cardigan, something to keep warm. We have 2 servers helping each other. We order drinks and food. My first issue was instead of letting me know the drink I ordered isn't available and choosing an alternative drink, they bring me a lychee martini to see if I like it. I drink it because it's in my wheelhouse and it took long to receive it. Secondly, it actually took long to receive each course. Portions were good and everything we chose was delicious. For starters, we had the conch soup and fried green tomatoes which both were a good dish to start this amazing meal. Yellow tail snapper was cooked very well and mashed potato seems to have truffle oil in it. We also had the pork Havana which the meat was tender and the sauce complimented the dish well. Dined here for the first time over the weekend. Honestly, I'm sad I didn't even know this place existed until magical dining videos. It's super elegant inside, has like a 1920s vibe. Everyone working there is nice, attentive, and helps each other to ensure you have great service. For magical dining apps we tried the fried green tomatoes and the foie gras French toast. The fried green tomatoes were cooked nicely but I didn't love the flavor. The foie gras was very good and I recommend it. For entrees I ordered the special plancha steak which was cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed the mash underneath- it was slightly sweet and yummy. My partner upgraded to the peppered steak but he said it barely had any hint of pepper, so he was disappointed in that. For desserts we tried the banana cake and the key lime pie. We were warned that the banana cake was spicy (which I don't enjoy) however this had no spice at all and was very good. The key lime pie you could tell was homemade and very tart. They were offering a bottomless $40 wine option, which my partner got and really enjoyed. I tried the peach dragonfruit cocktail (forgot the name) but it was not very good, very artificial tasting, so I ordered a glass of bubbles instead. We had 7:00 p.m. reservations to celebrate my husband's birthday, yet we were not seated until 7:45 p.m. My husband walks with a walker, and despite standing for about 10 minutes, neither of the two hostesses offered him a chair. Once we were finally seated--at a table facing the kitchen door--the service began awkwardly. The waiter did not offer cocktails; we had to ask. To start, we ordered ceviche and it was very salty, with miniature shrimp; the filet mignon was very average; the yellowfin snapper was better, but at $86.00 for the beef and $65 for the fish, both should have been exceptional. The bread was hard and tasted old. A particularly unpleasant incident occurred when a male patron vomited near the kitchen. Staff did not escort him to the restroom, nor did they move to close the partition until I asked them to. The waiter was friendly, but it was clear that fine‑dining service is not his strength. The sommelier was professional and knowledgeable, and the selection of wines was good - probably the best thing of the dinner, and my reason for 2 stars. The bill was close to $600, and unfortunately, the experience did NOT justify the cost. I wonder who gives 4 stars to this restaurant. Unfortunately , the food and service didn't live up to the setting for us. My husband enjoyed his conch chowder and yellowtail, and his Old Fashioned was excellent. I was less impressed with my fried green tomatoes, which were too thick with tempura style batter, and my filet was overcooked and dry. Both deserts were just okay. The service was also average despite having plenty of servers and staff. No refil on my very weak ice tea or with the bread. We expected more from a restaurant of this caliber. Overall, we would not recommend Norman's for this year's Magical Dining. This meal was excellent from start to finish. Our waiter, Chris was wonderful! My boyfriend I came here for our anniversary. Everything was amazing from start to finish. We started with a complimentary halibut cake. It was delicious. After the cake, our waiter mentioned "bread service." Now this is not your typical bread in the basket. Bread was brought out fresh and hot! We had fresh butter and freshly seasoned olive oil that was prepared in front of us with fresh herbs and cracked pepper. It was so good! I definitely accepted seconds when it was offered. For an appetizer we shared crab cake beignets. They were so yummy and perfect. Delicious flavor in every bite. I chose the yellowtail snapper for my entree. It was delicious! It came with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli rabe. So good!! Everything about this dish as a perfect marriage! My boyfriend had the lamb chops and he really enjoyed them. For side dishes we shared lobster Mac and cheese and Parmesan fries. SO GOOD! For dessert we shared cocoa flan. During dessert our waiter brought out champagne for us to toast for our anniversary. Very thoughtful. We also ended the night with a cappuccino. We learned from another waiter at a table nearby that Chef Norman never went to culinary school, and he is self-taught. From all the food we tried, it's safe to say that Chef Norman is incredibly talented! Dinning here, was a great experience. If you have reservation, I would recommend to arrive early and enjoy a drink at the bar, (preferably happy hour). The ambiance was nice, complimented with good service and food. I will be back. read more
