Helios Bar & Dining at Loews Hotel Orlando The experience at Helios starts the moment you step off the elevator. Between the music, the atmosphere, and the panoramic views, I instantly felt like I had stepped into a movie. On this occasion, I had the pleasure of dining with @Tammy W., who introduced me to the Orlando Magical Dining Experience which is a month-long celebration featuring some of Orlando's finest restaurants. We had to wait a little while for our table, so we spent some time at the bar, which is definitely a great spot for people-watching and mingling. Our bartender was fantastic and made a delicious Cosmopolitan. For Magical Dining, we enjoyed a three-course meal. We started with the Farmer's Cheese and Fried Halloumi. Both appetizers were scrumptious, but the Fried Halloumi was my favorite thanks to its crunchy texture and unique blend of spices. For our entrées, we chose the Risotto al Limone and Petite Beef Medallions. Both were absolutely delicious, but the smoked risotto really stole the show. The presentation and especially the dramatic reveal was an experience in itself! Of course, I had to save room for dessert. We ordered Mount Vesuvius and A Night at the Opera. While both were delicious, A Night at the Opera was the clear favorite for my taste buds. The combination of its soft, spongy texture, lemony zing, and sweetness made it the perfect ending. It was sweet, refreshing, and incredibly satisfying. And just when we thought the evening couldn't get any better, we were treated to the Epic Universe fountain show during dinner. Talk about dinner and entertainment all in one! Incredible vibes, views, and food. Mediocre service. I've seen a theme on service here in the reviews, and we experienced a subpar experience in terms of service. We were sat on time for our reservation, but it took about 20 mins to order. Things sped up after that, but it was so dragged out from the late start. We noticed the tables next to us being offered extra bread by another server, but ours was nowhere to be found. I think she had too many tables. However, she forgot my husband's soda, and we did have to ask for it to be taken off the bill at the end. In terms of the food, I could not recommend the food enough. Everything was so good. The farmer's cheese, the patatas bravas, scallops, steak, and desserts were all so good. I'll be dreaming of the scallops and the farmer's cheese for a long time. The views are awesome. Epic Universe is not just a theme park. It's an architectural marvel, and like a dream world. Parking is validated at the valet. read more

Unfortunately, the evening got off to a rather rocky start. We had a reservation and arrived about 10 minutes early, only to wait another 20 minutes to be seated despite our table sitting empty. Once seated, it took another 20+ minutes for anyone to come over and acknowledge us, let alone ask if we wanted something to drink. Our server remained noticeably inattentive throughout the evening, which unfortunately set the tone for the entire experience.The food was a bit of a mixed affair. The lamb chop was unfortunately burned and rather flavorless. The medallion steak, however, was the star of the evening. It was beautifully seasoned, incredibly flavorful, and layered with spices, fresh chimichurri, and just the right amount of creamy aioli. That dish absolutely understood the assignment. The pacing of the dishes, however, left us scratching our heads. Our steak arrived before the cold cheese appetizer which considering the cheese required less preparation time, was an interesting choice. We're perfectly happy with dishes arriving at different times, but this one felt particularly backwards.Dessert brought us back around. The Mount Vesuvius was wonderfully complex. The spicy caramel paired beautifully with the chocolate, cutting through the richness and creating a really lovely balance of flavors. A Night at the Opera, unfortunately, was less of an encore-worthy performance. It was supposed to be an explosion of layered flavors, but the sour note completely dominated everything else. At least we caught the water show, which was quite beautiful once the entire park lit up around it. The setting definitely makes the experience. Without the lights and the surrounding spectacle, though, it's essentially water shooting from a fountain. The atmosphere, though, deserves credit. The interior is beautiful, the view is lovely, and the overall concept is right up my alley. As someone who loves astronomy and Greek mythology, I genuinely wanted to fall in love with this place. And perhaps that's what made the experience a little more disappointing. There were flashes of brilliance in the food, and the atmosphere was beautiful, but the service was so poor that it overshadowed the evening. What a fantastic evening! The whole meal was a flavor explosion from start to finish. That cocktail and appetizer combo was spot on, and the mains and desserts? Absolutely divine! Plus, that bonus view really made the whole experience perfect. The only issue I had was my steaks came out cold, but our server corrected it right away and was very kind and attentive during our visit. First but was hard same or shell, testing the strength of my teeth Beef medallions were tiny, anything cooked more than medium would have turned them into rocks. There's a long line to go up the elevator so thinking it'll be just as crowded afterwards, we decided to stay on the ground level to exit immediately after the shows and walked back and forth to get glimpses of show the shows. Girl, where do I even start? The food with the name-brand Helios? Idk, I'm disappointed. I'm glad I didn't order the seafood platter because the oysters?? As soon as I ate them, I felt like I was eating rocks. Like, why am I biting into small bits of shells? And not just one oyster, all of them. Like, Helios? The name is very extravagant, but the food? Girl, I'm eating rock, paper, scissors. The octopus was semi-hard, like wtf. At least it looked aesthetically good so I'll give them that, but still disappointing. And what was that thin-sliced meat? Idk. I asked the waiter what it was made of and she said she didn't know, then said she'd ask. Then she came back and said it was A5 Wagyu?? Hello? Are you kidding me? It did not taste like A5. It was stringy as hell, didn't melt in my mouth and I couldn't even cut it with my fork. It tasted like dry-cured prosciutto from the store. Like... A5 Wagyu? The food tasted okay overall, but maybe I expected too much from Helios. Omg, I've had oysters in the Midwest that were cleaned better. No rocks or shells landing in my mouth. The octopus there was sooo tender and the Wagyu actually tasted like fat because it is fat, but it melted in my mouth and was easy to cut with a fork. The ambiance was fabulous, I loved it. But we didn't get the seats by the terrace even though I requested it and there were empty tables. Idk why. The service was HAHAHA, hell. It took them 30 minutes just to ask us for drinks. What a great spot. We went to Bar Helios for the 2nd time a few weekends ago. We had been before for the Universal evening light show at Epic. We were at the park during the day, but didn't stay for the evening. I had been looking on line at hotels to stay at and the Helios Hotel is the only hotel I know of that's directly connected to a park in Orlando. But it's very pricey. I did like the cool bar on top though and from what I saw, it seemed like an amazing spot to see the lights. I was correct. The first time we were there it was even better than I hoped. The view is amazing and the restaurant bar plays the accompanying music for the lights too. The second time we went the word still wasn't out about this great hack. We got a table right by the glass and had an incredible show. The bar itself has a great menu, and beautiful atrium setting. It's pricey, it well worth the view at night. read more

Amazing restaurant with beautiful views. I highly recommend sitting outside. Even in July when it's scorching hot, there is airflow so I did not sweat sitting outside. The main benefit of sitting outside is you have a gorgeous view of the entire park. Being that we haven't been to the park yet it allowed me to see an aerial view of all the lands. It was also quite entertaining for my kids. I was afraid that this place would be packed but at 5 PM we were the only table outside by the time we left at around 6:30 there were three other tables out there. Inside is beautiful too, but I think outside is where it's at. Our server was absolutely phenomenal. He was attentive and checked in the right amount of time. We ended up getting chicken tenders and fries for the kids to share. Pro tip is there is a kids menu. They just don't advertise it. They don't have printed kids menus, but the server was able to tell us what the options for the kids were. Off the top of my head I believe there was chicken tenders, grilled chicken, and pasta with either cream sauce or red sauce. They all came with either fries or a fruit cup. Then my husband and I got a seafood tower to share. It was a good amount of food for two people, we left absolutely stuffed. The oysters were phenomenal. I loved the tuna sashimi, and the crab was great. All in all a fantastic choice. The drinks are also delicious. I tried the feta cheese drink, which lived up to the hype. It's definitely a unique drink, but if you like feta cheese, you'll absolutely love it. My husband got an old-fashioned and enjoyed it. We were celebrating my son's birthday so he got complimentary gelato. I thought the gelato was amazing and would recommend. This place is a must go to if you were staying at the hotel. This place is truly a unique gem with an entire experience with your dinner and drinks. I wanted to check it out during Magical dining for the $60 price fixed menu and booked my reservation to be able to view the sunset and the water fountain show at the park because unfortunately Epic no longer has a fireworks show! The outdoor patio portion of the restaurant allows viewing of this "epic" show ! The food from appetizers to dessert was amazing and the presentation was too! Alejandro our waiter was good but very busy so we really didn't t have much interaction other than to order and pay! The ambiance and vibe are everything here so just go but then the food , the entertainment and views are unbelievable and so worth the entire dining experience ! Although on the pricey side, you can't beat the service. If you plan on going to get a great view to watch the fireworks you need to make a reservation. Located at the top of the helios hotel at Universal this is the one of the Better places to eat in universal. The food is served tapas style so we ordered a few plates to try. We loved the cheese plate starter made with farmers cheese, honeycomb and foccacia. I would go again just for this! We tried The zucchini flowers , but not our style but good and the beef medallians cooked perfectly medium rare. I was a little disappointed we didn't get our scallops because they were sold out, but that only means they must be delicious. Dessert was made tableside and included liquid nitrogen that which the seven year old gladly smashed. While you're waiting for dessert, enjoy the spectacular views. Great deal for magical dining! We loved trying different items throughout the menu! We tried the farmers cheese and the patatas bravas for the appetizer and also added a half dozen raw oysters with the pink peppercorn mignonette! The oysters were surprisingly good along with the other appetizers. I had the beef medallions as my entree and they were perfectly cooked medium rare. We had the chocolate dessert and the opera cake. This restaurant is by far the nicest restaurant in any theme park! You can access the rooftop restaurant and bar from either inside of Epic Universe, as a guest of the hotel or as a regular patron. The aesthetic is truly beautiful and it's a great atmosphere. The bites and drinks were delicious! I couldn't give it a full 5 stars because the service was a little lacking. Our server was inattentive but the hostess were great! I'd probably be back more if they offered a happy hour. read more

Very nice and contemporary accommodations. Pretty good view, a little obstructed. I give the observation area a 6/10 as it's hard to see due to the layout. The service was very professional but maybe a little aloof. The food was good but for the price, we really expected it to be spectacular. It was a great one time experience but probably won't be back. Also, warning! To get parking validated and not have to pay the daily $125 fee you have to spend at least $75 per vehicle. We reserved a table here via Resy, for 7:30pm on a Monday, and it wasn't too busy. We chose to sit inside due to the windier night and still had a great view of the park. The inside tables near the park side are on a platform so we could see sections of the park which is so beautiful at night with all the lights on. We arrived 5 min before our reservation and were seated right away. The inside is beautifully decorated, with a ceiling of constellations and names of I heard people who built the area. Using Google Translate was fun to see the names of the people on the ceiling. Our server Luke was attentive, quick to refill waters and provided recommendations. Our drinks and food came out quickly. They were accommodating and informative regarding allergies. For two adults with alcoholic drink each, and we ordered the mussels, duck empanadillas, grilled octopus and the beef skewer. All dishes were delicious but our favorite was the beef skewer. Mussels were great and we loved the sauce, octopus slightly overcooked but had a great char on it. Duck empanadillas also delicious. This review is for the bar and the view. Reservations are encouraged, especially if you would like to have a "patio" table. Will get to that in a sec. We did have a reservation but, since we found some spots at the bar, and the NFL playoffs were on, we decided to sit there. It is a nice bar, with great service, and delicious drinks. The food coming out looked good too, but we did not try it. Now the drinks, we did enjoy. I started with their Mount Olympus, which is like a French 75 with lavender in it. Right up my alley. Served in a "Gatsby" martini glass, and lavender as garnish. Then I had a regular French 75, and this was one of the best I've ever had. They put the perfect amount of simple syrup to not make it too sweet, and the champagne flute was just beautiful. You can't help but feel so classy drinking it. Now, for the patio view, even if you don't get the chance to score a table there, this is the place to be to have the best view of the park at night. Mainly during their water & light show at the end of the night. We got to enjoy it all from that spot, and being a Universal property, it allows you to enjoy it with the same music the show plays to. While we stepped away from out bar seats, to view the show, our bartenders placed napkins on our waters to save our spots and protect our drinks. We really appreciated that kind of detailed service. Bar Hellos completely exceeded my expectations. The drinks are absolutely amazing and so thoughtfully crafted. The Aphrodite is hands down the best drink on the menu and officially my all time favorite drink. The balance of flavors is perfect and it is beautifully presented. Plus, you cannot beat the view of Epic Universe! The farmers cheese is just as incredible. It is fresh, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with the drinks. It is one of those dishes that you keep thinking about long after you leave. The service is a little slow, but the staff is friendly and the overall experience is still wonderful. First time visiting and definitely will not be back. Horrible hospitality from the minute we arrived in the restaurant. Made the reservation a month in advance to do something special for my daughter's birthday. We watched as party after party was seated before us. We asked how much longer. The hostess rudely stated 5 more minutes. 15 minutes later they called us and sent us to the worst table in the restaurant. Could not see anything because a big statue was blocking the view. We asked politely for an empty table two down from ours and was told that we had to wait again because the server can only work one table at a time. We asked to speak with a manager and we were rudely spoken to Mary who offered us no apologies or consideration. When we finally got to our table the server still hasn't taken our order because he is working other tables. How can a restaurant that charges $125 to park your car be so bad. Don't know anything about the food because we are still waiting to place our order 25 minutes after our reservation. Spoke to a second manager who when we said that Mary was rude she said that we must not understand her because she has an accent. Basically called us a very nasty term that we don't use in our daily conversation. We understand rudeness in any culture and know when we are welcomed and when we are not. I'm a proud local who loves to show off the best of Orlando when out of town company comes in. Next time I'll just have a Mac and cheese cone in the park. read more

I really indulged at Bar Helios, by enjoying steak, snow crab claws, and croquettas. Surprisingly, the salmon croquettes were the star! Savory flavor, with a good crips on the outside and a yummy dipping sauce that add a nice tartness. The crab claws were a bit of a let down. I find snow crab to be typically a little sweet and very flavorful! But these were a little on the bland side. The steak was a little over cooked in some pieces. Looks like it was cooked kebab style. Chimichurri was a nice herbal note, though. The view was great, my cocktail was interesting and well-balanced, the ambiance is lovely! I love the design inside. Unfortunately, my service was incredibly slow. I felt a bit forgotten about several times. I am definitely one to understand possibly being in the weeds, but at a certain point, as someone who has also been a server, you may just need to get a manager or ask for help. Still worth it just for the ambiance and a drink. But I would choose dinner elsewhere! read more

We had a great experience here and what a nice rooftop location overlooking the beautiful new Epic Universe park. We were able to get our reservation day-of for later in the evening, and they were even really helpful in adding a few people on when we arrived. We had a choice of insider outside, and we chose outside. They gave us a great table along the edge overlooking the park... There was a weird railing that actually made it hard to see the park, I feel like they should have high top tables instead... But regardless, it was really nice and we were very pleasantly surprised when we got to watch the nighttime show on the water in Celestial Park, which was incredible. Although I would say five star for the vibes, service, and atmosphere, I knocked a star for the actual food and drink. Nothing was bad, per se, just weird. There was nothing that we tried that we truly enjoyed and would order again, but I appreciate it the diverse options. We made a reservation for magical dining! The restaurant has a celestial theme that matches the ethereal feel of Epic. Being so high up made me feel like I was dining up among the constellations. Such intentional design choices added to ambience. Our waiter Ben, was attentive at every step, making for a very pleasant experience. For the appetizer, I ordered the farmers cheese: whipped farmers cheese, honeycomb, pistachio, seasonal fruit: grapefruit, and strawberries, and grilled-to-perfection focaccia. It was last meal good; seriously one of the best appetizers I've ever had. The cheese was smooth and salty- not like intensely salty. The combination of the honeycomb, fruit and cheese was heavenly. It was absolutely delicious- so many perfectly balanced textures. We also ordered the oysters, the sauce was tangy and delicious, I especially enjoyed the crisp onion on top. I order the Pan Seared Diver Scallops as the entree, they were browned on top and tender inside, I wanted to savor every bite. I was able to taste the citrus more prominently than the dill in the foam on top. The polenta was a warm, comforting touch. I didn't care for the cheese cracker thing, but the presentation was gorgeous. For dessert I had the Mount Vesuvius- I loved the drama of the hot carmel on the chocolate sphere. This bar is an experience for sure. I didn't get the typical photo of the ceiling but when I tell you Universal out did themselves with this park and hotel it's phenomenal. Will go back again! Food came out hot and fresh or chilled if a cold item. The hummus in the photos is now a go-to appetizer. I typically don't like hummus but the waiter sold me on it and it was delicious. The entire menu fits the theme of Greek. After eating there was a beautiful Ariel view of the park Epic universe right on the patio. Expect when coming to the hotel to spend at least $75 at the bar which requires a reservation and leave with that receipt if you do not want to pay the $125 parking fee. read more

It was only $262 to feed four, what a bargain! I'm still leaving a 5-star review because you know it's expensive when you come here. Be warned, it's "shareables" which is some millennial term for "a way to charge you more for less." I forget what we got, I just remember it was expensive and goofy, like some kind of octopus or something. We did the trendy "frozen rose" desert because we'd heard so much about it. (shrug) Whatever. I paid a lot so that we could eat expensive food, leave hungry and watch a water show where one of the circles was down for maintenance. All that being said, why bother to leave a 5-star review? The new hotel overlooking the new Universal Studio Epic Universe. The bar itself is very nice - a circular bar in the middle beneath a starry dome rooftop, and the view from the terrace overlooking the entire Epic ground is stunning - I saw the night version but I'm sure the day version would be great too. Drinks are a bit too sour at first in general but as the ice melts they become better. Food options are limited - especially in the sense that they don't have any sides to order, so for example if you order the lamb chops it would be just the meat and there's no option to add carbs to it to form a full meal. I end up just getting a couple bites and plan to get some food elsewhere. But overall with the view this will always be an iconic bar to visit if you are here for Universal Studio! read more

Went here with a group for dinner and we had a few times to share and then each also ordered additional dishes as our mains. The food is definitely more tapas style in size than a traditional dinner. Food and drinks were all good. Our server was great and knowledgeable on gluten free options. The view of the park is great, but we couldn't see it from our table. We were able to walk outside at the end to watch the fountain & light show. Overall a good experience, but you definitely pay for the location so it's a bit pricey.
