Taverna Opa always has a great show and amazing time. Our party was a large group they were able to Accommodate us and we enjoyed our time. Definitely recommend you trying the experience the food was ok.
FIVE STARS - NO QUESTIONS, NO DOUBTS. Wow, I was literally blown away by Taverna Opa. This doesn't happen often, and especially not in this part of town in what I would consider a touristy area. We had a party of 6 and were seated outside at a nice, big table. We booked a reservation at the last minute and thankfully were able to snag one late in the evening. The server came over quickly and checked on us, explained the menu and his recommendations. We ordered a ton of food, a few drinks and a couple shots for a digestif. Everything was hot, flavorful, delicious, and exactly what we wanted. I don't think we had a bite of anything that was in any way disappointing. Major shoutout for the Pastitsio - it was one of the best we've ever had. This is my husband's favorite dish, and he was amazed at the flavor and the cook on the food. I will be back!
My coworker and I stopped in for lunch while attending a show at the convention center. The service was great, especially considering how busy it got as the lunch hour progressed. We shared meatballs, hummus, mussels, and each had a cocktail. I had never had a cocktail like that and while I can't recall exactly what was in it, it was incredibly tasty. We walked out full and hugely pleased with our experience.
This place was so much fun! They have a nightly belly dancer at 7 pm who was phenomenal. The saganaki is a must get with the flames! It's a fried cheese block. Hummus trio was great and very pretty drinks. Also if you get multiple shots they do a whole show! We'll definitely be back to get a full meal. Ambiance was a 10
We went around 4pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was dead. We left around 7pm and the place was extremely busy. (Also keep in mind that dinner takes quite some time.) We chose to do the family style meal so we could try a little of everything. They start with warm pita bread, homemade hummus, and cold appetizers. There was also a big Greek salad. The dips were all absolutely delicious, especially with the pita bread, which was perfectly soft and had delicious spices on it. I loved the hummus the best. It was chunky and had lots of garlic in it. Different from any kind of hummus you buy in stores. Hot appetizers came out next. My three year old scarfed down the Greek meatballs. I had one bite and thought they had great flavor so I could understand why. There wasn't one thing on this plate either that I didn't like. Finally, the main entree of meats came out. Chicken, pork, and beef skewers and lamb chops. I enjoyed the appetizers more than the main meats, but I did find the lamb chops to be amazing. Since we were celebrating a birthday, at the end of the meal the waiters came out to sing. That's when it got really fun. We were all able to get up on the table and dance and at the end throw napkins and yell "Opa." It was so much fun. They do also have belly dancing and other entertainment, but it doesn't start until 7pm. All in all the food was delicious and service was great so I would definitely come back.
Came here for dinner while at a dance competition with a group of about 16, we were able to get a large table at 8:15PM on a Saturday so we were grateful. The place was on fire (not literally). Lol I can't even begin to tell you what others ordered on the other side of the table. I can just remember those immediately next to me. We ordered the Saganaki, which was perfectly flambéd (literally on fire this time) and delish! Our part of the table ordered lamb shanks, lamb chops and chicken kebabs; they seemed happy with their orders. I ordered the pork kebabs with feta fries. It was a huge portion (even had leftovers for lunch the next day) and had great flavor. As far as service, the waiter was pretty good, given our large size. The place was packed and the belly dancers came around to dance (on tables) and they really make an effort to get the guests engaged. It was very loud, so hard to have a conversation and the food took a while to come out, which is why I think the waiter brought out multiple mortars with their homemade hummus. It was garlicky and delicious, probably the best hummus I've ever had. Overall, a fun night with great food!

Ordered chicken kebabs with a side or wild greens (these needed salt and they were ok, won't get them again). Our waitress was so nice and helpful. The place was PACKED, so the service was a little slow, which is understandable. I will be bringing my Arab mom here (i know it's a Greek place, but the ambiance is similar to my Arab roots), she'll love it.

We chose the family‑style meal, and it was a feast. The warm pita and fresh dips were a great start, followed with a Greek salad and a generous platter of hot appetizers. Honestly, most of us were already full after this. The main meat platter was just as delicious, with everything tasting fresh and well‑seasoned. Only one of the pork skewers (pork souvlaki) was undercooked from the main meat platter, but there was already a lot of food so we didn't gripe too much about it. Toward the end of our meal, the belly dancers came out and added a fun, engaging energy to the atmosphere, especially for anyone who hasn't seen that style of entertainment before. The only downside was that dessert wasn't included in the family‑style menu. Given the price point, it would've been nice to have at least a small dessert included rather than paying extra. Overall, the food was tasty, the portions plentiful, and the atmosphere lively and enjoyable.

The DJ played standard, but fun, music...Wobble baby wobble baby wobble baby wobble! Speaking of music, THIS PLACE IS FUCKING LOUD!! If you have sensory processing disorder, don't come here... your ass will leave in a body bag. Remember, Taverna Opa is not where you come if you want really good Greek food. Belly dancers too. Don't forget the belly dancers, shakin' their sugar for 5s, 10s, and 20s. TOO is not excessively expensive... average prices for this part of Orlando. The friendly greet at the door turned into a spacious room with a cool tree in bloom ( not real ) but still cool. Loud energetic music played while a belly dancer kept on a party table and danced for the guests. She danced at our table for a minute while we waited for our meal. I had the lang shank. I was hungry. Filled me up. It fell off the bone. I like how it wasn't ruined by a fancy sauce or spice. It was a great taste on a bed of long rice My friend had the combination seafood platter. I love lamb. Buttons jealous of his plate. See pic Mussels shrimp salmon fresh catch of the day lobster in a tomato sauce with lemon drizzle. I'll get that next time. My Pinot was excellent. Desert. I had high hopes for Taverna Opa, but unfortunately, our visit fell short in several areas. I ordered the lamb chops medium rare. They arrived well done. My wife's Greek salad with salmon came out raw in the center. Things went downhill from there when the waiter who took our order was nowhere to be found; I eventually had to go inside from the patio to ask for assistance. After some effort, another staff member brought out the manager, who did step in to replace our meals and assign a different server. While I appreciate that gesture, both rounds of food took a long time, and by that point, the evening had already lost its rhythm. The replacement dishes were passable but nothing memorable and certainly not enough to redeem the delays and service issues. The final disappointment came with the bill. After everything, only a 10% discount was offered. I expressed my frustration, and the manager ultimately removed one of the entrees, but the gesture felt like too little, too late. Overall, this was not the experience I expected from such a well-known spot on International Drive. Between the kitchen missteps, long waits, and uneven service, it was a tough night. There are many great Greek and Mediterranean options in Orlando and sadly, this won't be one I return to.
We came here for a celebration during Magical Dining and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent and our server was an absolute delight. Make a reservation because by 7pm the place was completely packed. For food I had the falafel which was just okay, the lamb chops which were very flavorful, and the Emek for dessert which I enjoyed although the texture might not be for everyone. The atmosphere is lively with loud music and a belly dancer who puts on an amazing show. During birthday celebrations napkins are tossed in the air which adds to the festive vibe. The crowd was very diverse which makes sense since Taverna Opa is located in a tourist area. I would definitely come back with my girlfriends for dinner since the energy, vibe, and food make it worth it. Parking is easy with either validated garage parking or valet.
My husband and I were in Orlando for a convention and decided to have dinner at Taverna Opa because it was nearby. Unlike the venue in Hollywood, Florida, which is near our home, this one is larger and brighter and more spacious. The food is just as good and the atmosphere also is cheery and bright. We had the saganaki and the grilled octopus appetizers. Both were very good. Although we are used to cold, marinated octopus we thoroughly enjoyed this grilled version. For dinner, hubby had the lamb board and I had the slow-cooked lamb. Both were savory and satisfying, and we had enough leftovers for the next day's lunch. We were adventurous and tried the Galaktoboureko dessert, custard wrapped in honey phyllo. It was served warm, and it was sweet and creamy. Our server Rafael was very attentive. About the only problem we had was that the appetizers and entrees arrived at the same time. Say what? Nico, one of the managers, chatted with us before and told us he had worked at the Taverna Opa in Hollywood. After our meal, he stopped by to see if we liked this restaurant and even offered us a taste of mastiha, a Greek liqueur. Hubby doesn't drink, but I gladly accepted a shot (and really liked it). We had dinner around 6 pm and the entertainment was starting just as we were leaving a bit after 7 p.m. We couldn't stay longer because we had to catch a speaker. Dinner for 2 with 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 1 dessert, tax, and tip was $137. read more

This place is happening! Came here on a Friday night and there's a party wrapping up. Came into the dining hall and found all the ladies on top of the dining tables just dancing and having fun throwing napkins (instead of plates traditionally). It was fun to see.they had belly dancers that danced around the tables throughout the dining hall. Came here as recommended by my friend whose husband is Greek. Ordered several dishes but I was disappointed at my order, the Bifteki. It was dry and a bit on the dark side. Was not a fun of the taste. I was wrong to expect it to be like the traditional kobideh. It was so dry I asked for the tzatziki but I had to pay extra, was really disappointed. Got the DIY hummus which you have to smash on wooden mortar with a pestle--not a fun of it either but ok, the flavor was there. The Lemon chicken was surprisingly good. The Pastitsio was the best, very rich in Greek cheeses. This was the best one from all that we've ordered. Service was ok, nothing special and the ambience was loud. Came here for a work dinner and had such a fun time here! Not only was the food good but oh my gosh were we entertained. They had a belly dancer who got people to get on the tables and dance and then they'd throw napkins in the air like confetti. Super cool spot and would recommend for a large group! read more

I finally get to cross this one off my food bucket list. Great experience and loved the entertainment and more importantly the food ! Interior is beautifully designed to match the ambiance and overall being of a Mediterranean cuisine. Loved the gyro they had and paired it with the Orlando magic which was a fruity drink mixed with Malibu rum. Delicious and very savoring. Service w law amazing and our server was very friendly and had great recommendations for the entire menu. If you're in town, pointe Orlando has down great renovations and the place is starting to become much more popular. read more

Food was mediocre. Initially when you walk in it looks popping. Lots of people and loud music. But when we ordered the food - it was not worth the price and the service was very slow. We asked for water refills and a Diet Coke refill and it took a long time just to get that. My colleagues pasta dish was overcooked. We had a large party of maybe 14? I think the restaurant was just trying too hard with the belly dancers and trying to engage dinner guests into climbing tables and also throwing up in the air so many white paper napkins! Some Sysco food service distributor representatives is definitely making good money off of this restaurant wastefulness. There is definitely no green initiative here. They were very wasteful with all of the napkins being thrown all over the restaurant. It was so loud that you really couldn't have meaningful conversations at all. Mediocre food plus super loud music and trashy entertainment. No dig on the dancer. She was very sweet. It's just honestly not the right atmosphere and as she is dancing, she has dollar bills on her waist so I believe there is an expectation to tip her to engage with you while you're not even trying to engage with her, she just comes up to you and starts picking someone to dance with her all of this during dinner. I give a B for effort and a C grade for overall experience. read more

Something different. For my family it was a different experience. But an enjoyable one. Very pricey for your portion but food was delicious. This visit was for a birthday party for a special needs person. The staff were so accommodating to her and patient. It was nice to see that even though they were very busy still took the time to make her feel special for her day. I would definitely come back with the family and friends. read more

The music is great--definitely loud, with a club-like vibe--so I wouldn't choose it for a business dinner, but it's perfect for a fun night out. The service was fast, and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the hummus and the lamb; both were outstanding. My one critique is that while the servers are very personable, they were a bit handsier than I'm used to when dining out. Well here we are a year later and we had the whole joint to ourselves. Yocclin was the barkeep (I prefer Max by a long shot) and was only as friendly as she needed to be, which is why I provide 4 stars (rather than 5), which means "not very," or like one says in Greek: " ." Too bad because this AIN'T Hellenic hospitality by any stretch. Anyhoo: Queen Bee appetite still ain't very hearty so we stood with apps and called it a day. First: keftedes and calamari, which we had last time here. Both still well made and yummy. The sauce they serve with the calamari is a big misfire and never had anything like it in Greece whenever I was served calamari. I prefer it plain...just a squirt of lemon is all one needs, just like with keftedes. Onward with more apps from the specials list...Queen Bee had dolmades along with feta and olives. She asked Ms Jocclyn what brand feta they use...she had to ask but said "Duldones." Doldoni is the most popular brand in Greece, along with my fridge back home. So they sealed it for QB. She enjoyed all of it; nothing left for me to try. I chose pork souvlaki and then crispy zucchini. The latter had a small dollop of tzatziki and some shredded kasseri cheese atop it. Not bad on their own; tzatziki actually tasted like it was recently made too. Zucchini was thin chips of said gourd fried to...well: a crisp. Eh...pork souvlaki fared better. Typical Greek pork marinated and grilled to within an inch of its oinkless life. Very good; twas paired alongside nondescript fries topped with Dodoni feta. Next time (should there be one) shall have me purchase an entree rather than a lotta finger food. I know this place can do better. I almost gave three stars rather than four. The food itself barely enabled me to give the fourth...BARELY. At least the restroom was clean. read more

So much fun!!! I Celebrated my Birthday at Opa for the 2nd year in a row. It was 20 of us. The Atmosphere was electric!! The service and food was amazing. Loved the lamb rib appetizer. Family friendly. We had ages from 5 to 85. Everyone had a ball! Will Celebrate next year as well! read more

This restaurant was good but there are some cons. First with the ambiance, there are napkins all on the floor because every once and a while they throw napkins in the air. The play music in the background but I can be loud to someone with sensitive ears. With the music the have a belly dancer dancing around the restaurant. The service was good! We had a party of 8 so it was hard to get the servers attention but no big deal. The food was great as well. I had the pork suovlaki, very good. no complaints. read more

Still always a great time. I could have at least 3 orders of falafel. The saganaki was really great as well; however it arrived partially burnt. Service was really slow on a Saturday around 6:30pm. My husband and I both ordered gyro pitas. He ordered with gyro meat and I ordered chicken (no tomato's, no lettuce, and asked for feta). Upon receiving; the gyro meat wasn't as good and juicy as previous. And the kitchen forgot the feta. We waited at least 10 minutes to ask for it (plus we wanted ketchup for our fries). This was the first time service was slow but I understand that things aren't always so smooth. We topped the night off with baklava which was absolutely perfect. Even with the slower than normal service we will still recommend and return! read more

Ambiance was casual with light and airy decor with a cool bougainvillea that centered the main dining. Our servers were fantastic, very friendly, and gave great suggestions on the menu. The saganaki came to the table flaming with brandy, such a fun presentation! The cheese itself was soft and mild on the pita bread. The lamb chops were tender and nicely cooked medium with a flavorful herb crust. My favorite dessert was the baklava. Had flaky layers with a nice pistachio filling. Would definitely recommend! We also need to go back for dinner since they have a DJ and dancing at night! read more
This place is an absolute blast! I came here for a lunch meeting during a conference. It took a second to find the location (it's above the Blue Martini Bar), but once you find it, you feel transported into Greece with the decor, the paintings/murals, and most importantly the wonderful tree they have on the inside. Our server was attentive and efficient, taking our drink and food orders promptly. We ordered the Flaming Cheese, the appetizer platter, and I ordered the Gyro and fries. The Flaming Cheese was my favorite piece - just loved how they light it on fire in front of you and the flavors that come from it. The portions are huge, so come hungry. I recently had a team Holiday dinner here on a Friday evening. We were a small party of 6. The venue was quite full for dinner time so I imagine that reservations are a must. The service received was good. First the server came around with menus and water. Next, he came around to take beverage orders. Finally, he came around for the food orders. I decided to go with the lamb board and asked to sub the fries and pita for a small Greek salad. The Greek salad was flavorful. The lamb board normally comes with braised lamb, tzatziki, lettuce, tomatoes, pita and fries. Again, I subbed out the pita and fries. The tomatoes were not good - they looked soggy and didn't taste fresh. The lettuce was simply unappealing. The lamb and tzatziki were quite tasty, and I enjoyed it paired with the Greek salad. Throughout the dinner time the venue was filled with music and dancing - which I did not expect. I didn't read any reviews or look it up before coming. Occasionally, the belly dancers would come around and "offer" lessons to the customers. Sometimes there was dancing on the table - by both the staff and the customers. There was even line dancing around the restaurant. Lots of fun entertainment going on during dinner. So, it was a lively crowd, full of music, dance and people having a great time. Yes! Bring dollar bills! Not rude at all. They actually appreciate the tip but in their waistline, not breast.
Is this place kid friendly for dinner?
Kids are welcome, if you want to expose them to belly dancers dressed very provocatively. Also a lot of dancing on the tables. It can get a little crazy.
