Visited this restaurant for a quick lunch . The sushi is fresh and the avocado salad is very good. Prices for the sushi rolls are decent . Parking : street parking and small parking lot in the rear of the restaurant

5 stars -- A fantastic sushi spot that's become a new favorite! I had such a great experience at Nori Sushi. The food is absolutely delicious -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The sushi boats, in particular, are stunning -- they look like edible art, and the taste lives up to the presentation. For the quality, the prices are surprisingly reasonable. The service really stood out. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, attentive, and kind. They were especially sweet to the kids, which made the whole experience even better. It's definitely a kid-friendly place -- the staff goes out of their way to make little ones feel welcome. We are a group of 6 people and everyone of us had a good time here. The food came out pretty quickly too -- we didn't feel rushed, but we also didn't have to wait long. The restaurant itself is very clean, with a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. Great for a casual dinner or a special night out. Bonus points for the convenient parking -- there's a big lot behind the restaurant with both paid and free spaces available. If you're a sushi lover (or even if you're just sushi-curious), I highly recommend giving Nori a try. We'll definitely be back soon!

Godzilla Roll and Verona Roll.

In this day and age, I wouldn't recommend impulsively going somewhere for sushi - this was our third stop in a frenetic 15-minute period of walking up to the doors of restaurants only to realize they were only processing to-go orders. In my experience, most sushi establishments are still super skittery about COVID, and the chances that the place you pick has sit-down dining right now is pretty much a coinflip. That's on us though - we were naughty and didn't do basic due diligence beforehand. My chum and I had lunch here yesterday. It's a spot we've been to before (notably after an unsettling Nocturnal Animals screening a few years ago that led to some animated conversation about Amy Adams over some edamame) for both sit-down and take-out, and it's been a solid, reliable destination. My go-to sushi restaurant for special rolls is Kenko Sushi in Lincoln Park, so it's a little unusual for me to venture beyond my comfort zone in that regard. We both usually end up going down the rabbit hole of exotic/special rolls, and this adventure was no exception. I went with the Godzilla Roll and the Verona Roll (both $11.50). They were both very good, though the winner by a slight margin was probably the Godzilla Roll - I have a weakness for the fried ones, and I find that they hold together much more easily than "regular" rolls, which is helpful when the pieces require two bites instead of one. The Verona is solid - my chum got a Titanic Roll, which looked exactly the same from the outside but had shrimp instead of salmon within the roll. Was any of this mind-blowing, astounding sushi that I'd go out of my way to sample? No, but I don't think it needs to be anything more than a place you're comfortable popping into from time to time. The service was very good on the whole. Our food came out pretty quickly, and it seemed like they had some takeout orders to juggle simultaneously as well. The waitress was a little overaggressive in bussing our table and grabbing the check; I literally still had a final bite of sushi in my mouth when she swooped in to take the plate from under me. And after giving us the bill, she came back about a minute and half later to grab it and we had to quickly tell her that we hadn't even opened it to put payment in. It was pretty empty in there too, so it wasn't an issue of needing to turn over the tables. But honestly? I'd rather have too much service than too little these days. I tend to think of Montclair as a pretty overrated food town, but Nori is a solid contributor that provides a decent counterargument.

Had a wonderful lunch here today! Service was great and the food was delicious! One of our friends can't eat raw fish, but there were many other hot foods options as well as cooked/vegetarian rolls. All the rolls were so yummy! We will be back soon~

Very authentic feeling of Japanese inside. Very friendly staff too. Prices were kinda high but I assume because of COVID and inflation. Chicken teriyaki came out sizzling on top of onions. Tasted great but the noodles were not so good. You can get rice instead but I choose noodles. My fiancee got #3 roll and angel roll. She said the angel roll was amazing but the number 3 roll was alright. Very difficult and messy to eat the number 3 roll too. The waiter even offered me a fork with my meal which is a plus since I am very bad with chop sticks.

This is probably one of the best sushi places I've been too. They have lots of vegetarian options! The place has a nice Japanese feel. It also has ample parking in the back. It's byob and there's a wine store literally 1 block away. As for what we got. Unfortunately they don't have the lunch menu on the weekends but that is no where written in there menu. We got the vegetarian tempura. It came with different fried vegetables like broccoli, mushroom and onion. It was ok. We ordered 4 rolls and I will present them in order of my favorite. The mango potato was the best. I loved the sauce and the texture of the fried sweet potato. Next was the pineapple. I loved the sweetness without any needed added sauce to top it. Then was the bugs bunny. It has lots of veggies and a nice Chipotle sauce on top. My least favorite was the Nori jade. I felt the Avocado was too mushy. The service was good but I felt it could have been a little better being that there were only 2 other tables being served.

This restaurant is located on a corner with metered parking right in the back. Plenty of seating, sushi is made to order and you can visibly see the kitchen. We ordered the rock shrimp and it was really good. The gyoza was also flavorful. All of our rolls were good! We will def Return. This is a BYOB.

Super Boat

Great dinner experience at Nori in Montclair! We ordered a super boat, as well as fried noodles and fried rice. The super boat took a long time to prepare, a little over an hour, but we were informed of that upon ordering. It was worth the wait. Delicious sushi! Nori is also byob

Stopped in for lunch today, the restaurant was so cute. Not many people inside so the service was very quick and friendly. The sushi was excellent!

Every…read moreeel I have had in the U.S. has never compared, even the eel I had in Seoul, so I was hesitant to order it at Minoru. But this was absolutely worth it. I'm so glad my husband pressured me to. The eel was incredibly tender and delicate on the inside with a delicious crispy exterior and a rich flavor with every bite. The contrast in texture was so so good and it honestly exceeded my expectations in every way. I wish I had more. Easily the best eel I have had in the U.S. I'm still thinking about it weeks later. My husband ordered the Wagyu donburi, which was excellent. The Wagyu was incredibly tender. The waitress also cracked an egg over the beef. It came with rice at the bottom, miso soup, and broth. I also really appreciated that our waitress came over and explained the different ways to enjoy both entrees. There were four different ways to eat each one, which made the experience feel much more thoughtful and interactive. I enjoyed eating mine plain and mixed with broth, scallions, and seaweed. These were the only two dishes we ordered and both were excellent. I will definitely be back for the eel again. It is definitely cheaper than flying to Japan to get my fix.

Overall, I found the food to be decent but unfortunately not particularly impressive compared with…read moreother similarly priced restaurants in the area. The uni was a particular disappointment as it did not taste as fresh as I expected and had a noticeable fishy flavor. The portions also felt quite small relative to the price. The bowl was fairly modest in size with a thin layer of seafood on top and the majority consisting of rice. Additional seaweed comes at an extra $5 which given the overall price point, made the experience feel less worthwhile. I was also disappointed with the Mango Hanaho mocktail. It was described as containing mango purée but what we received tasted much more like a lightly flavored seltzer and did not resemble what I expected based on the menu description. Again, considering the price, I felt that the drink did not provide the value I was expecting. The ambiance was also fairly unremarkable and did not add much to the overall experience. I certainly appreciate that taste and expectations are subjective but for the prices, I expected a more elevated experience in terms of food quality, portions, drinks, and atmosphere. Unfortunately, I left feeling that I did not receive the level of value I would expect at this price point and I don't anticipate returning.

The dip came with only a couple chips, but fortunately, our waiter brought out a refill for us. The dip was surprisingly good and I would get it again! Unlike other places, the handrolls are semi-DIY as you put the rice and toppings onto the seaweed itself. As a slow eater, I've found that the seaweed usually gets soggy at other places by the time I get to the last couple pieces, so this was a fun alternative! For dessert, we ordered the matcha basque cheesecake, which had a strong matcha taste, and the cookies, which I could have lived without.

This was only our second time visiting PR, but I'm sure it won't be our last. We hesitated coming because with our first time the music was a bit loud and with my hearing loss in one ear, just messes with my head. This time (my birthday) we were the first to arrive and had our choice of seating and the music was at a very nice level. Our server, Anijan (sp?) convinced us to try the 5 course Omakase, (chef's choice) although my wife and I had discussed the possibility before we came. I was a little afraid I would leave hungry, but that wasn't the case. Portions are not huge, but we were well satisfied when we left. Anijan our server was very attentive and explained the wonderful dishes as they came out. This is a BYOB, which we love and will definitely help bring us back again, very soon.

Great concept and a new FOODIE term out there " Wafu-Italian" which is a meld between Japanese & Italian ( heck, someone had to eventually invent it ) Street parking and a huge parking garage about 1 block away. There is no sign during the day at this restaurant; at night an overhead spotlight beams the name on the sidewalk; Considering the street # ( 13) is painted to blend in with the facade, we walked past the place 3 times before realizing this was it......Really? Is that supposed to make it seem like a "speakeasy \ in-the-know" kind of place. ( Hope not, it's pretentious if it was) Staff was great. Our waitress ( from Boston) was super helpful & friendly. I attached a pic of one from mid-August. Portions are fair\healthy. You'll be full, not stuffed. APPS...... -The Cucumber Salad is one of the freshest, best items on the menu. -The Porcini ( mushroom) rice-balls were ok; but not at 5 small ones for $40 -The clams on focaccia bread was very good. Need more focaccia for dunking! The sauce was killer! -The cacio & pepe Gyoza ( dumplings), just "meh". ENTREES... --the Miso Cod; is a dish I just love; very good example here --Hanger Steak Carbonara was good, nice mashed potatoes --Wagyu short rib also a "good" choice. ( yes, I mean JUST good) --the brothless Ramen Shrimp Scampi was the winner here. An excellent pasta dish full of flavor. Great choice. DESSERT... not here....plenty of coffee shops, etc in Montclair within walking distance. We were told no coffee ( only tea) and only 1 dessert ( a bao bun confection with Nutella & powdered sugar). How boring ! No coffee? Never heard of such a thing. and isn't EVERYONE doing a version of zeppoles in Nutella sauce these days. Really disappointed in this.
