Everytime we come We get the edamame, miso soup, and the Rock shrimp with the delicious sauce it comes with. Also the house salad because in my opinion they have the best ginger dressing I've ever had!! I could drink it! My sister and I decided last minute to go out to dinner and we landed at Toro Sushi. I actually used Google assistant to call the restaurant for me and reserve a table 15 minutes before our arrival. Toro was half full when we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday but, by 8pm it was full so, our timing was perfect. Was contacted by the new owners and asked to give them another try and we were happy we did. Asked to get the omakase and was pleasantly surprised by the innovation, portions and price. We had seven courses of artfully prepared sushi dishes and enjoyed each one of them greatly. The quality of the fish also seems to have improved as the uni was rich, creamy California roe and they had plenty of toro and other rare cuts of fish that were not normally here. Horrible horrible horrible. I strongly recommend running away and ordering elsewhere. They are crooks. This restaurant gave me the wrong order. I ordered a lobster roll and they gave me a California roll and on top of that they refused to make my order and charged me for lobster. It's clear from this photo that I do not have a lobster roll instead they placed crab stick inside. They served me previously frozen tamagotchi which was a cross between a rubber tire and a brick. When I mentioned that this not proper. I was told that they are too busy to make it properly so they buy frozen. They didn't look busy. The sushi rice was cold and it's consistency was like it had been refrigerated. The raw fish was reasonably good. But if they are cutting corners I would not trust the food. Typically this is the owners fault not the staff. The staff was very nice and the ambiance was okay. After initial nervousness and cautious optimism it turns out that Toro under new ownership (Toro II with new owner Vicky) is executing the previous and very successful menu. I might even suggest that the food has improved. I can certainly attest to the fact that they are experimenting with new items and slight tweaks and and improvements on some of the existing favorites. Some of tonight's highlights include the tuna dumpling. It's was very flavorful (not fishy) with nice sized chunks of avocado and crispy tempura flake. Tuna tataki is very fresh and savory. Lightly seared with a ponzu sauce, it's a nice treat. The tuna kituna was a new adventure. It was a very refreshing combination of roll with crab stick, tuna and avocado rolled in a cucumber wrap instead of seaweed and rice. I have to say that I will be frequenting this sushi restaurant more often. They had phenomenal fresh sushi and the price was reasonable for the quality of fish. We ordered sushi for two and the sashimi was just out of this world good. It literally melted in my mouth. It also came with two special rolls which is the chefs choice. My friend ordered the beef movie box which was definitely Delicious with plenty of food for two. The atmosphere is clean and cozy. The walls are a dark purple and green. I work in the area and literally cannot stop eating here. I've had a few sushi rolls, they were good, pretty standard, thought to be fair I didn't get any of the specialty rolls. I have been getting the Salmon Hibachi/Chicken Hibachi/Steak Hibachi, and truly each one has been great. They also have great specialty fried rice plates that have are tasty. So far, I've tried the chicken fried rice and the lobster fried rice, both awesome. You can also order online and make an account and get loyalty rewards? This place has the most terrible customer service I have ever encountered. I ordered from them and was told there was an hour wait. I waited for the hour and fifteen more minutes. I called and was told my food would be there shortly, I waited 15 more minutes. I called again and was told that the driver went past my neighborhood and instead of dropping off my order went to an entirely different town 30 minutes away. Stopped by for a quick lunch with family in October. We got there about 30 minutes before closing and the service was friendly and efficient. There's a decent selection on the lunch menu and my dining companions enjoyed their bento boxes and fried rice (the rice dish was HUGE). My pork katsu was tender on the inside and crisp on the outside, but lacked seasoning. The order was for Fried Oysters and a Rainbow Roll totaling $32.10. The payment method was cash. Approximately a little more than an hour later, A young guy delivered the items to my door. I started to hand him the cash, He stated, "It's been prepaid". I again tried to hand him the money. He stated, "Just give me the tip. It's been prepaid. You don't want to pay $60.00. That's twice the amount". He appeared to be in a big hurry. Anyway, I ate the Fried oysters which were very good. The rainbow roll was too salty. Later in the evening, a phone number kept popping up. The phone number did not have any caller's name. No message was ever left. I don't pick up unidentified telephone numbers. The following evening, I received a telephone message from that unidentified telephone number. The delivery guy stated that he made a mistake and wanted to set up a time to stop by to collect the money. All of a sudden, my doorbell rings and the guy is at my door. He profusely apologized for their mistake. At that point, I handed him 30 bucks cash and told him to wait for a moment so I could get the additional $2.10. Again, he apologized and said not to worry about the $2.10. Anyway, I called the place and spoke with a woman. I asked to speak with Amy the manager. The woman stated Amy was not available. Went with the shrimp tempura ($8), fried oysters ($8) and LBK roll (lobster, spicy Blue Crab, king Crab). For $24, I thought the price on the roll was fair and comparable to what others in the area are charging for something similar. The tempura was cooked just right. Not too crispy, but not under-fried either. The fried oysters were definitely interesting, though I still prefer mine raw or baked. When you order a Bento with 4 pieces of sushi, they are are all Chef's Choice. I recieved Salmon, Shrimp, Tuna, and Snapper. Each of them was prepared so well and went down very easily. My date who I was with ordered the Esther Roll for us which consists of Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Tuna and Avocado wrapped in White Seaweed. Oh my goodness. I went this 10 times more when I go there next time. It consists of my favorite things AND it tasted delicious. Like seriously fantastic. The service there is very nice (our waitress gave us free Green Tea Mochi Ice Cream which was perfection). The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined. Like you feel fancy but not uptight, you know?
