Shopping Experience at Nordstrom Racks I am not a shopper! I don't enjoy walking from store to store in search of specific things or gifts, especially during the holidays! I want to walk into no more than three or four stores, get everything I need, and be done with it. That said, I enjoy walking through my favorite stores and checking out the goods without any specific purchase in mind. Sometimes, I find something I wasn't planning to buy, but I realize it could help me or make someone close to me very happy. I know this sounds confusing, but I think you get what I mean! Anyway, Nordstrom Racks is one of the stores I enjoy walking through. They are organized and carry well-known brands, which is not as important to me as it is to many others. This specific location is one of those stores that we visit often, and I have found and bought many items here. The staff has been helpful whenever I needed help, and we've never had any issues shopping here. The prices for certain items may be somewhat higher here than some other comparable stores, but if you do not have the time to go from store to store hoping for a better price, then it is worth it. The only drawback is that the racks can get very messy during busy shopping periods like the holiday season. So, it is always best to visit and get what you need before the crowds rush in and mess things up! read more

One of my favorite malls is The Village at Corte Madera with plenty of parking. I always have to stop by Nordstrom whenever we visit this Mall. If you ever stopped by the Nordstrom shoe department ask for Chris. He is super cool and an amazing person. Chris is our go to sales associate in the shoe department. He is knowledgeable and knows his stuff. He is awesome! Great customer service always. Hours are Monday through Friday 10 am to 8pm and Saturday 10am -7pm and Sunday 11am - 7pm Until next time. I had some time so I decided to pop in. On the clearance rack, I saw a pair of grey pajama pants (only) with skeletons on them. I thought, "Cute, my 16 year old might like them for lounging around the house." The price literally made me gag. They were originally $678.58 and on sale for $188.98. The is my go to Rack that I come to every time I come to Novato. It can be a hit or miss when it comes to clothes and especially shoes for me. I have a hard time finding shoes in my size. I like that the store is organized and big. I've found some great things here like a dress and shoes for a wedding that I was attending. This is probably my favorite Rack because every time i come, i end up buying sonething. 40% off clearance which is a final sale, which means no returns. Only for Labor Day weekend. The place is nice and neat since i keep seeing employees straightening out and keeping everything neat. Maybe this weekend they hired more people. Dressing room has gone unisex, no more male or female side. Restroom was clean. Everybody is totally friendly. Plenty of parking (seems safe). Free paper bags! I was driving through the area and needed a rest stop. So I spyed the shopping center with the Nordstrom Rack right off the freeway. Off I go. NR was next to Costco. They all connect in a strip mall building format. Needless to say, the parking lot was a madhouse. Do not expect a quick drive in and out. Once when I walked inside, I noticed how large the NR store was. It was well stocked and pretty clean and organized for a late Saturday afternoon. This NR had "a lot "of modern and stylish merchandise with the designers in varying price points. The inventory is larger than the Santa Rosa and Sacramento/Folsom locations.Huge significant inventory. Yes. The "Designer Row" clothes section had high end pricing with significant markdowns. However, I'm not in the income bracket to absorb 50% markdowns off $300 blouses, but if you are than this is the place for bargain shopping. Brands...diesel, Vince,and others that i can't remember. They also had a big selection of sunglasses and shoes. However the majority of the shoes are a bit scuffed up and the soles were dirty. Not worn out or damaged...just not pristine. I suppose you have to decide if the "as is" condition warrants the significant designer markdowns. Oh by the way, the restrooms are located in the back right of the store. read more

I've been a NR shopper for 14 years now. First store experience was San Fran. Then I lived in Roseville for a year, that store was usually an ungodly mess, more merchandise on the floor than on hangers or on display tables. Santa Rosa in 2016, NR opened at the Coddingtown mall. This location in Novato is certainly a big improvement for men's items over Santa Rosa. More of every item, shirts, pants, belts, business suits and especially the shoe selection. Inventory displays are all tidy. I actually enjoyed my browsing session through here. Guys: If your wardrobe maturity has grown past Marshall's, Ross, even Macy's, and you want better quality threads that will flatter your physique, this is the place to get good quality clothes. The Nordstrom Rack at Vintage Oaks is terribly managed and customer service is terrible. The management team is arrogant and likes to flaunt their power. I tried to return something and believed all Nordstroms honored an all the time return policy. They claim only 60 days here and I was on day 62. They would not even consider a store credit. So much for treating good customers like they are good customers! read more

This is a great rack it's pretty well stocked and very organized. They had a great selection of frisbee jeans and exercise clothes. The show department was very organized. The kids shoe department was fully stocked and well as the kids clothing. Overall, I was impressed by this store. read more

Yay! Welcome to Novato Nordstrom Rack! The store is big and pretty well stocked for the opening. Lots of kids clothes and shoes (someone did their research) which is a welcome addition to the Vintage Oaks mall. I saw a decent selection of dressy and higher end play clothes, shopping kids clothes always makes me wish I had girls. Very old selection of girls things. Great accessories! I know I will find a few pairs of sunglasses I "need" to have. Excellent selection of women's clothing, I'm sure they will be bringing in those "higher end" designers that people can afford to buy. I was happy to see a rack full of James Perse tees (my weakness) at about half the price of retail Nordies. Thanks. This is a short review because I wasn't inside for very long, the lines were pretty long but it was the "soft" opening. The big one is today and they have a DJ and give aways so go! Overall I'm very glad to see a better selection of ladies and kids clothing in Novato. The store is probably going to be a hit, because when you are at Costco buying lettuce and diamonds you will for sure stop here too for something. read more

One checker today purposefully let the line build up and made us wait for her to put stickers on random items until the lane next to us (who had been being helped by management for 15 minuites) was free. Once we went over she immediatley took the next person, she should be fired for her petty rudeness towards customers. Dont go here, these people are a joke. read more

Don't Waste Your Time. The prices are not a significant discount, the store is consistently a disaster, and the workers are to generally be avoided. As a 22 year old woman, I am a little younger than their typical customer. Assuming that I was a shoplifter because of my age, an older female employee with light hair followed me around the store while I was shopping and not-so-subtlety used her radio to call for security. It was insulting, as I have never shoplifted in my life and am disappointed by the assumptions this pretentious employee made about me. Maybe she should spend less time stalking customers and more time organizing the makeup aisle she followed me through, as it was more gross and messy than Ross on its worst day (lipsticks with no caps smeared across fixtures, eyeshadow and highlighter powder coating everything, half of the items were expired. Can't go wrong with Nordstrom Rack! Nordstrom Rack offers those of us who have expensive tastes but meager budgets the chance to have the best of both worlds. I love being able to purchase high quality brands at a fraction of the original prices! I prefer to shop in store rather than online, because Nordstrom Rack charges $5.99 for every return via mail. I am a fan or Nordstrom Rack. I couldn't believe that there were 3-isles of shoes in my size. I found the location bright and lively, even late at night. I also like the way the store is laid out. It's not the usual set up. There is a little of everything and the store is laid out in an unusual setting. The undergarments were right next to the jewelry and the make-up was sandwiched in between. I was saddened to see the limited housewares. Other Nordstrom Racks, like in Sacramento have larger selections of houseware items. I found the staff to be a little elitist and a little annoying, it's Novato for heaven's sake! I only had a brief encounter at this store but look forward to future shopping trips. I was so excited that they opened a Nordstrom Rack in Novato...but boy was I disappointed! Nordstrom Rack is conveniently located in the Vintage Oaks shopping center right next door to Costco. I visited it on an early Wednesday afternoon and it was packed. The store is clean but seems small and has very little in terms of selection. It does not compare to the Concord store. As I shopped, I noticed several clothes on the racks were in totally the wrong size section and were on the hangers inside out which was kind of annoying. The shoe section was so small it was almost like a joke. The same for the purse selection. I was able to find a couple of things like a 4-pack of nail polish for $12 bucks and a blouse for $27. There was a super long line at checkout which is no big deal but each cashier was moving like molasses....it took several minutes just to ring up a purchase of one item. In the end it wasn't worth the trip, skip this Nordstrom Rack and head over to the Concord store instead. So disappointed ] read more

UPDATE: Thank you Irene for taking the time to talk to us and making things right. We really appreciate it. I just had a very disappointing experience at Nordstrom Rack.  My husband bought me a Ted Baker watch for my birthday. He didn't notice at the time that it wasn't working. Busy with plans, I put it on my dresser and left it. We thought it just needed a new battery. I finally had some spare time to get the battery replaced. Super excited to finally wear my new watch. Unfortunately it worked for about an hour. Deciding something must be wrong with it we returned it to Nordstrom Rack today. Getting store credit, I looked for a watch to replace it. I found the same watch but again it wasn't working. Then I found another watch that was very similar (it didn't have the date shown like the original was the only difference). However this watch was $20 more expensive. Feeling a little confused by this, why is it more expensive. I already lost the $15 I spent replacing the battery in the original one. We took them both up to see if they could help us with a the price.  We showed them that the watch on the floor did not work. And that it was the same style as the one I returned. We guessed it wouldn't work with a battery replacement either. I asked if there was a way to do an even exchange for the returned watch for the similar watch that worked.  I was surprised by the lady's attitude of "we don't price match and we could buy the watch that wasn't working for the sale price only." Why would we buy another broken watch? Was the watch discounted because it's broken? When I asked this she replied that it only needs a battery. We reminded her of the broken watch we just returned that had a new battery. I hope she didn't put it back on the floor. Plus why would I buy a watch that I needed to replace the battery again. Lesson learned on that one. Long story short, Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack have a great reputation for customer service. I'm disappointed with what happened today. Broken watches should not be sold. This person was not willing to work with us in any way.  I hope this improves. We love Nordstrom but rethinking their customer service. I give two stars because the cashier that took the return did try to help. The supervisor was rude and not willing to help in any way. read more

This location is underrated! The newer location in Santa Rosa is always low in stock and lacking in shoe sizes and clothes in my size. I found that the Nordstrom rack in Novato is not only less trafficked but seemingly bigger and friendlier staff with brands and designers I prefer like Birkenstock and free people. read more

I'm surprised at the negative reviews for this store. I have consistently found the designers I love-Eileen Fisher, Vince, Joie, Theory, Paul Green, Cole Haan, Aquatalia-at much lower prices than Nordstrom sale prices. They are, of course, somewhat at the mercy of whatever didn't sell at Nordstrom locations, so they won't have a consistent selection. Sometimes, on the weekends, it's particularly messy, but there are so many shoppers, it's hard to keep it clean, I'm sure. At these prices, you can't expect perfection in merchandising. I'm surprised that people expect 100% perfection at 90% off prices. C'mon folks! Prices are low because they don't have someone cleaning up every 5 minutes. [Insert eyeroll]. Was so excited for this store to open and the shopping quality is excellent. However, I went in and realized I left my Nordstrom card in my car I asked the front if they do holds the cashier wanted to check so she asked a manager who said they do holds for a day. Go out come back and I see a different sales associate with my items go to put them back. I said I had those items on hold and was rudely told that they don't do holds. I had a necklace on hold for Mother's Day and it had already been put back on the sales floor and I couldn't find it anywhere. I was so upset. It's a new store I get it but they need to make sure everyone is on the same page. read more

Other reviewers have called out the wait times. I kind of expected it to be crazy opening week so that didn't bother me. My challenge is that I've been in 3 times and just don't seem to find anything. The shoe selection is meh. I expected so much better. I am seriously wondering if anyone giving this a 4 or 5 star review has been to a Nordstrom Rack in Southern California. This stored compared to those...I can't even fathom the minimal effort that was put into this store. It was like they designed the store to fail, having movable racks and a terrible minimal selection of products. If they close it will sure be easy to move out. Seems like they never thought they were going to stay, even though the people in Novato tend to be on the more "well-off" side of the income spectrum. Now that being said, my sister (who had never been to a Nordstrom Rack before) was pleased with the selection they offered and found 2 things. Went to the store opening today, it was a very nice event. There were so many customers, it felt like Christmas, long lines to check out, but was well managed and customers were happy. The stuff was super friendly and willing to assist. My only complaint is the merchandise, I was a bit disappointed. This is Marin county, an average house is over 1K, WE NEED HIGHER END STUFF PLEASE. They have a good selection of sunglasses, but need to improve clothes, shoes and leather goods, TJ Maxx has a more upscale selection in their Runway department. I did make a purchase and while waiting in line heard another customer saying the same regarding the merchandise. read more

I went opening night and checked out all the merchandise. It was a fun night. I bought 2 pairs of shoes, they have a good shoe selection, and some tee shirts. The selection was just ok I didn't find a whole lot of things I wanted, which is not what I expected. I went back last night to return a few items and the store was picked over and very messy. I didn't find anything else to buy. Then I stood in line forever for my return as the checkers seemed to be in slow motion. A line formed behind me, only 2 cashiers. I went in to try and find a birthday gift for my mom. My closest Rack is 2 hours away. I saw this beautiful baby blue tote! It was perfect! And a great price at $89. So when I get up to the register to pay they tell me the price is wrong and to wait for them to get the actual price. I've worked retail, I get it, mistakes happen and tags get mismatched all the time. I wait 30 minutes before someone come back and says the actual price is $449! I asked to speak to someone because I believe the price of $89 should have been honored. The man who I spoke to, shoulder length hair, then told me that he simply couldn't sell it to me because it was a $1200 bag retail price. He then told me how grateful I should be that it was $449. That it was a great deal. While this was going on he slumped the bag over the bagging area. Like it was the cheapest thing he's held. Worst experience I've had at a Rack and a complete waste of my day. read more

Just opened last weekend and already short-staffed!..12 people in line and only 2 people ringing things up and one of those answering the phone (and in no hurry).....you're prices are not that unbelievable that I am going to sit in line 12 people deep to spend $130 for 5 items....Don't start this new in the game. I 've been a fan of the Nordstrom Rack in San Francisco, I always found something wonderful. Not the rack in Novato, unfortunately. Their shoe selection is o.k. but other than that, the merchandise looks tattered and definitely not the same items from the regular Nordstrom store from , maybe , a previous season. They have good selection of jeans, but their dresses, tops, bathing suits and lingerie seems to have come from China from a below average sweat shop, via one of those large container shipments. All the racks are so jam packed, you can hardly pull the garment out, fabrics are cheap. There were a few shop worn designer dresses, but other than that, the choices are below average in quality. I think Ross Stores are surpassing Marshall's now , and definitely Nordstrom rack . It's a bargain basement at not such basement prices. read more

Their shoe selection is decent, even for my big-footed self (size 11). Haven't been impressed with their customer service, however. I realize it's not Nordstrom, but still I expected they would stand behind their products. Not the case with the UGG boots I received as a Christmas gift. Apparently, flawed construction causes one of the two booties to look different from the other when worn, and not so attractive-- the back center portion/flap of the top shaft of the boot sticks out several inches behind my calf rather than staying "tucked in" on one side behind a side flap and the bow beneath. Because I had used the boots outside for a few minutes before the problem became obvious (the offending view is from the rear after all), they would not honor a return. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth -- Initially the salesperson immediately and definitively stated that I just needed to untie the bow in the back and retie it more snugly to hold that center flap in place. I told her I didn't think it was meant to be untied and even if it was, I didn't have confidence I could retie the bow in the very decorative fashion to match the other. After the manager was called, he confirmed the bow is "docked" and is not meant to be untied, but still refused to provide any remedy, claiming UGGs are supposed to be a "slouchy" look. Um, no, I don't think that's what I'm dealing with here, one boot presents quite differently than the other boot when worn! As of now I do not plan to shop at Nordstrom Rack again as they apparently do not stand behind the products they sell as Nordstrom does. Buyer beware! read more
