The shoe department isn't as big as my favorite location but I still managed to find a couple pair of slippers, the clearance price for one pair was only $6.73! I haven't bought anything from Nordstrom Rack in years, but today I happened to have snagged a deal on some Adidas kicks that I couldn't resist. I find that this location is easier to maneuver around versus the Old Orchard location, however it was still pretty crowded on a Saturday afternoon (prime time probably). Lots of On Cloud and Hoka women's shoe options. Had a really good experience with the checkout line, I wish I could remember her name. Even though the shoes didn't ring up with the price on the box, she make the adjustment without any issues. In addition, she was savvy enough to know how to make split a credit card payment when using one of those annoying Visa gift cards and a regular credit card. This is maybe the second Nordstrom Rack I ever visited, when I was but a babe and shortly after moving to Illinois. Though Nordstrom Rack has expanded considerably over the years (there's now at least three in the city when there were none... and there's even one in my hometown now!), this is still a great location. They've got all the stuff every Rack has, but I often feel like this store is more organized. Maybe I just come at times when it hasn't been ripped to shreds by the masses? Unclear, but their merchandise is for the most part easy to shop, and when I've been here it's not as overly crowded as some of the other stores. I think they have a slightly larger housewares section than some of the other ones I've been to, and they have a surprising number of plant pots here, which makes the plant parent in me happy. read more

This place has a huge section and area. There are lots of products you can see. Since I'm here I went to the men's section to look for something to buy. I went to the shirt section. There are different fabrics for shirts. The price depends on the quality and the brand of the shirt. If the shirt is too thin it is cheaper but if the fabric is of a high quality or in 100 % cotton it's a little bit expensive. But it is worth the price. I purchased a gray and balck shirt. Since I'm Large I didn't wear it in the dressing room. Aside from purchasing a shirt I also purchased a cap. I choose a color white with a black design on front. It was cool to wear. Like Elaine, I'm easily overwhelmed in stores like this. But, I'm not sure if my overwhelming feeling is good or bad. On the plus side, this place is madness...there is soooo much stuff to go through. Today was the first time I stopped in. I was searching for summer dresses with a more casual fun flair, and they were either picked over, or I didn't know where to look. I will be coming back for sure, because I literally did not have the energy to keep going! Great sunglasses, the shoe section is pretty big, and the men's section is really really nice. In fact, I think this is the first place my hubby is willing to go back to and shop for shorts. On the minus side, it's chaotic and the women's section is messy. But, even with it being messy, I noticed the sizes are in the right places--go figure! Of course nothing I tried on fit. And, for someone built like me (I think I'm pretty average), it's tricky! The lines were outrageous, so even if I did find something I wouldn't have stood in that crazy long line to make a purchase. I'm guessing weekdays are less busy. read more

This Nordstrom Rack is located in The Village Of Northbrook plaza, a few doors down from Marshalls. I dragged my husband to this store with me, as I wanted to browse and see if there was anything I could buy since this was the last day of the triple points shopping day (if you are a card holder, this past weekend, members could earn triple the amount of points spent per dollar). When I came in here, I looked through the jewelry case and then the handbag section. I was surprised to see Tory Burch handbags locked up and thought that was funny because she is not a high end designer brand (sorry ladies, not to offend you, but she isn't. But if you like that brand, don't let my opinion upset you). Anyways, I was rather disappointed with the selection of handbags on today's visit. I saw a handful of Longchamp bags though in case someone is looking for one. Shortly after the handbag section, I headed towards the shoe section. I loved seeing some really good deals on the high end designer labels here, but sadly I am travelling and won't be able to pack too many things and bring it back. So they will stay on the shelf for the next fashion label lover. Now I do have to mention that in the shoe section, you will only find one of the shoes (either the left or the right and not both). If you want to try on both shoes, then you need to pick it up at the shoe mate window. I really dislike it when a Nordstrom Rack does this because it makes it so inconvenient to shoe shop. Also with only 1 of the 2 shoes on the shelf, it just gets really messy and disorganized. With Nordstrom Rack locations that do this, for some reason they provide both shoes in the "designer" section (don't be fooled though because you can also find some really great designer labels in the other shoe sections), which is where I had found some of those great deals that I mentioned earlier. After I browsed through the shoe section, I looked through some of the clothing and ended up trying on a skirt. The dressing room (for ladies is next to the lingerie section, the dressing room for men is next to the men's shoes) was clean and I did not have to wait to use it Since the skirt fit and the price was right, I found a sales associated and checked out with them since I was paying with my Nordstrom Card (if you pay with any type of card payment, does not have to be a Nordstrom Card, you can pay for your item with a sales associate on the floor and not have to wait in line at the main registers at the front of the store. You will still get your receipt). Transaction was quick and easy. Even though I ended up leaving this store with an item and saw some great deals on some beautiful shoes, I thought the selection was rather lacking (well at least for what I was looking for). But it could be that most of the other shoppers of this store has already picked through everything. If I lived in this area, I would still frequent this store (finding deals is like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes... you just have to be diligent and search often). By the way, the women's restroom needed some attending upon this visit. read more

As with all Nordstrom Racks it's going to be hit or miss on any given visit - however, this is the "best" Rack in Chicago. The Michigan Ave one is a tiny, cramped shitshow and the Schaumberg one is huge but mostly filled with crap. At this Rack, you can reliably expect to find great prices on premium denim, a smattering of truly high end labels, good shoe deals (especially for size 14 Mister) and any number of Michael Kors last season bags. You'll have to dig, but I've scored a $500 Burberry raincoat for $105 here, and lots of dressy cardigans for work in the $10-20 range. The Men's department is also quality, especially if you're married to a tall guy. There are always good brands and a surprising amount of variety for the gents. Those with large sized feet (both men + women) will also be happy as NR generally has a large selection at great prices, plus special "large size events" on the regular. Service....well, don't expect "real Nordstrom" service, 'cause you're not paying "real Nordstrom prices". read more

While my mom is busy buying our groceries I enter this store. It's spacious inside. There are a lot of different choices. You can see the selection of men and women. Some clothes are hanging well. Some clothes are expensive and some are not. They also had a sale and a discount on limited items only. You can save enough money if you purchase clothes. I'm here at the selection of sweatshirts since I love this kind of clothes. I like the quality of the fabric. It's not too thick and it's not too thin. It's comfortable to wear. I bought a plain white with some statement design on the middle part. I bought it at a fair price. I love it. Well. I spent 3 hours here, my receipt says I saved ~$1500 today, so I'd call it a good day! It's just one insanely discounted coat, but still, feels good man... This is the first Nordstrom Rack I've ever been to, and it looks like I've been missing out on some good deals. I really like this store. I have found many great finds and now big in the fall...you can always find discounted UGGS here and they have a big selection. They have great mens clothes. Recently I got my son a suit here and he looks fabulous. I Yes, you have to look through things and take your time. Yes, it can be overwhelming so come prepared and have some time to spend her. Their holiday collections are always so cute and they have many decor things that will make any room look festive! Had my first shopping excursion at this Nordstrom Rack store and I LOVE this place! The store is clean, the customer service people are super friendly, and the clothing selections are fabulous! There's a lot of merchandise but it's laid out very efficiently so it's not overwhelming at all. In addition to scoring some great clothes for myself, I found some great designer jeans and shirts for hubby also. SECRET ROOM I was looking for shorts in October and there was nothing on the floor. A saleswoman took me over to Alex and asked him if we had any shorts. Alex looked at me and said, "I've got shorts but are you really going to buy them!" He was a little cryptic but I replied, "Yes!" Then Alex took me into the back room. Were we doing something illegal? Alex also warned me to be very careful. As we entered the "Employees Only" swinging door, I knew there was no turning back! It was a magical land of hidden clothes that no customer had ever gotten to see before. Imagine a land of neatly folded clothes plus they were all hanging on hangers in perfect size order. I had never seen clothes organized so well...it was almost like a dream. Untouched by the messy customer. There were a few desks back here and I got some looks that said, "What is he doing back here?" Alex took me to a second floor where Men's shorts were hanging. There were so many to choose from. I was able to find 3 pair that I liked. The store was really crowded out front and I asked Alex if I had 30 days to return them because I did not want to wait in line for the dressing room. He told me there was no time limit. All I needed was a receipt and the tags on the items. I love Nordstrom and there return policy. It's all about the customer. I must also say thanks to Alex for going above and beyond customer service. He didn't have to take me to the secret stash of clothes but he did. That is 5 stars for actually caring plus he actually made a sale. This store was packed on a holiday Monday. It is also located next to two other discount places: Marshall's and Saks off 5th. Both of those stores were not very crowded. It seemed like shoppers were here for a reason. Probably based off of the quality, great prices and large selection of clothes. I also must say that checkout was really cool. They added mobile registers on iPhones. This was great because they could handle more customers without adding more registers. This helped move the line faster and keep customers happy. Again high marks on customer service. There was an old lady in front of me who refused to use the iPhone register. She kept talking loud and saying, "Everyone must think I'm crazy but I want a regular register!" Wow! You said it lady and I'll agree with you. It's just a hand held register. So if you're looking for some quality clothes that won't break the bank then this is the place. Also the customer service is amazing too. Thanks to Alex for going above and beyond. Not the best location I have been to. Even so the 2 stars are for the dreadful service. Here with my wife trying to pay for an item as I spot one of those floating employees in the emerald green tee that are supposed to ring you up anywhere in the store so you don't have to stand in the long line at the front. Boom, I encountered one and as she asked did we need assistance, we replied yes can we pay for this. She responded sorry I am the manager I don't have the payment machine and this emplyee next to me is dealing with a phone order. As the manager did she think of saying I will find someone else or did she say sorry no one available can you go to the front to pay, No she did nothing except let us know she was a manager and could not assist. I find stores of this type overwhelming and thus usually get frustrated and leave without anything. If you are the type of shopper that likes to pick through the racks on a somewhat weekly basis then this is a great place for you. I just don't have the patience or time for it! You can on occasion find some really terrific bargains on high end brand names. If you are purchasing clothing though I highly recommend trying it on first to save a trip of returning it . Many of these items are here for a good reason. They may look super cute on the hanger but generally don't look so great on an average body type. This place is amazing! yet overwhelming! If you are looking for couture pieces at a fraction of the price (yet still not cheap) i.e I got a chanel button up here for 800 when the retail was 2000. They carry many high end brands such as Burberry Prorsum, Chanel, St. John, Chloe Dolce & Gabbana, Marni, Oscar De La Renta and many more, from shoes to accessories to clothing this place rocks! Deals like this are omnipresent at the rack, and it's usually best to stop by often because things move in and out quickly. However, some articles of clothing will sit in one spot all year. However, I must say, when I had a few minutes to browse, they do have a nice selection. I did not get to go into A SECRET ROOM like Anthony (which now I am dying to see!), but the main floor had LOTS 'O STUFF! I actually went there to return something that I ordered on the internet. They were so accommodating and efficient. In fact, I had ordered multiple sizes and returned the ones that didn't fit. The person helping me was so-ooooo friendly and nice about it.No eye rolling, or thinking I was bothering them. It was a pleasure! What can I say, I love Nordstrom Rack. Who cares that it's off-season stuff? The savings are incredible. Plus, sometimes I'll find things that I have been pining for years (Like my recent find- a Marc by Marc Jacobs Petal to the Metal Crossbody!). They have great sales and discounts. I like to buy my shampoo and conditioner here too. I love how on the receipt, they tell you how much you've saved, with a "Well done, Style Hunter!" Thanks! Customer service is also fantastic. If you are paying with debit or credit, you rarely even have to wait in line, as they can help you on the side. I was helped by Armil, and he was super nice and helpful. He answered all my questions and was really knowledgable about everything, like the amazing return policy (accepted anytime as long as it has the original price tag and you have the receipt! Can also return at regular Nordstrom stores) and my questions about earning points. By the way, make sure you shop on double point days! Also, if you're like me and lose things, like rewards certificates, they can look it up for you and apply it to your purchase even if you've lost the hard copy. Yay! read more

So...I had been at their Skokie location first..and have no idea why in my mind..I assumed the Northbrook location would have more variety but I was wrong... Especially when it comes to their toddler boy selection...the rack with the baby boy clothes was NOT strictly boy...it was already much smaller than the location at Skokie but it was made even smaller with baby girl stuff mixed in here and there...this was very aggravating... Their clearance items were also more varied at the Skokie location...I usually have no problem finding stuff at these type of places so Im going to give the benefit of the doubt and attribute it to their selection being depleted due to the holidays.... I guess for now I'll stick to the much more stocked location on Golf Rd. and lucky for me..much closer. read more

I USUALLY find something to take home from this Nordstrom Rack - USUALLY. It's a nice size and I've had better luck here than at the Oakbrook location. I'm not impressed with the prices - I really don't see big huge bargains here. I recently found 2 blouses - off season - and have probably traveled alot to end up at their last chance to sell Nordstrom Rack - and they were 70$ bucks a piece. You've generally got to really dig here to find something you'll love - expect for the handbags they are usually all out in the open and no digging there. Good luck and happy shopping read more

Hit or miss. I've been coming here for years and my findings have been inconsistent. I always walk in expecting to find what I'm looking for (jeans, work shoes, a new purse, etc) but 2/3 of the time I leave empty handed - and disappointed. But at the same time, some of my favorite bags, shoes and misc odds n ends have come from the Rack. Its worth a trip if you are somewhat local (ie in the North Shore area) but I wouldn't come from Chicago - the one in the loop is pretty good. the problem with discount places like this is that their discount prices are marked down from their initial over inflated retail price. I've bought a few things here and have been happy with the quality. I feel you really havge to go like once every week to make sure you get the best deals and catch new markdowns and new inventory. I thought it was a good experience, and wanted to wear a shirt out... which is why I was there in the first place. I tried on the shirt and asked if I could just wear the shirt to the register and they could just ring me up - I was told I had to change back into my shirt with a stain on it - then go to the register and pay and then go back to the changing room to change into the shirt that I bought. I said, "that's stupid, why can't I just walk over there and and pay for it and then walk out?" It's against the rules, sir! My aunt has been shopping at this location for years, but discount stores have not always been my thing. The mere process of having to look through SO MUCH stuff to find a bargain made me tired. I'm a "I see it, I want it, I buy it" kind of girl. I don't work far from this Nordstrom Rack and one Friday decided to go here because I was looking for some dress shoes for my daughter. I didn't find the shoes, but I got her some really nice dresses that particular day. About two weeks later, on another Friday, I went back and found her some other things. I bought her some shoes but they didn't fit so this past Saturday I returned them. It was my intention to just return the shoes and leave...of course THAT didn't happen. I left with a new Kenneth Cole jacket for me, a dress coat for her, a new pair of Tommy Hilfiger pajamas for myself and some new jewelry....and spent less than $150!!! WOOHHOOO, I love when I come out the winner and get something new for myself! I will be shopping here from now on, this is where all my Christmas shopping is going to be done!
