Will never shop Nordstrom again. It's been almost a year since I stepped in this location. I was shopping for my Wedding shoes. Made my way into the makeup counter and had an encounter with a salesperson @ the Chanel counter who asked if I was interested in having my eyebrows done. I did and was happily pleased with her and her techniques and makeup application. I asked if she would be interested in booking an appointment for my makeup on my wedding day. We did and also bought about $200 worth of product. I checked in with her 2 weeks before, 1 week before and all was good. The day before my wedding at 2pm she cancels and not because she called me. I called her to confirm. She could care less that she did. She had my information to contact me and never did. Who does that?? Never again will I step into Nordstrom. I called management and don't know the outcome. I think it was a terrible thing to do to me the afternoon before my Wedding day. So back went my products and happily returned them to Gabriela. Was a loyal shopper until I found out to participate in the pre-sale that one was required to hold a Nordstrom's card. Preferential treatment from the staff is unequal treatment to customers. Upon entering the store we received no "hello" or acknowlegment of any kind, whatever ,I have to come to expect that from Nordstroms.I am usually out shopping for that ever elusive pair of perfect shoes so I am more often than not in some shoe department. So the other night I was at the Arcadia store and saw a pair of shoes I was not just interested in trying on but would probably buy (birhtday money was burning a hole in my pocket) . I picked up a pair that caught my eye and looked for an associate to help me out. There was a small group of them talking amongst themselves I tried to make eye contact but to no avail I was about to walk over to them for help but just ended putting the shoe back and walking out. I have no problem paying a few hundred for a quality pair of shoes but I have a problem dropping that kind of money but when I don't even get a simple hello and then on top of that have to chase down an associate to get help. I love Nordstroms quality of merchandise and selection but most times there customer service is what prevents me from commiting to the purchase. read more

I am very DISAPPOINTED my Nordstrom Santa Anita. On Monday, September 10, 2012, I came in the store looking for a handbag and found a handbag I liked. But, the handbag I liked was a bit dirty and looked used. I asked the sales lady if she had anymore of the handbag I liked. She said no, but she can order a NEW ONE an send it to my house. I agree to buy that handbag if they sent me a new one. I waited the four days and it finally arrived today September 14, 2012 . I was so happy when it arrived, until I open the box! (Brianna and Vanessa iBP/ Topshop/ Savvy) I just want to take the time to give a shoutout to these two lovely ladies that helped me and my little sister today! I used to work at this location and Glendale and I was trained to always exercise a high caliber of customer service. Unfortunately as the years pass this fails to be the standard in Nordstroms more and more. With that said, I take the time to recognize anyone who still upholds the same customer service values I was taught. Perhaps it's an age thing but maybe I'll never know why I'm ignored & not greeted- as was the case in BP TODAY. But when my little sister and I walked over to Topshop I was shocked to be greeted, pleasantly greeted. Vanessa and Brianna were so lovely. I bonded with Vanessa over being a UC student and she could not have been more sweet and even apologetic for the shortcomings of the BP employees- which she didn't have to! She made me feel respected and valued in a company who seems to only cater to the upper 1 percenter's wallet. She is a classic example of that vintage "Nordstrom Customer Service". As for Briana, wow she went above and beyond to help my little sister with a card issue and even walked over her to customer service to get to the bottom of the issue. I take notice to anyone who cares for my little sister because I'm overprotective of her. She was so charming and caring towards her. "Returns are not guaranteed and instead case by case" & "Nordstrom never guarantees any returns" quoted from Dennis Veals the assistant manager. My girlfriend bought designer shoes and wore them once to realize they are painfully uncomfortable on hard floor. She just assumed the normal Nordstrom policy since no one informed her otherwise about her purchase. The information regarding the return was not stated on the receipt or website return policy or told when she purchased the item. Dennis veal stated that's it's true they do not have the information located anywhere, and that you only get this return information when you actually come back to return the item is when they tell you about the unknown designer shoe policy. This is a very illegal & unethical practice and they should inform buyers ALWAYS about specific return policy's. Nordstrom should address this issue immediately and properly because I know at designer stores like LV, Gucci, etc., they inform the buyer about specific rules regarding the return policy during the purchase. Dennis stated employees are not required to inform buyers of the return policy of designer merchandise even though they are aware of the return rules and knowingly clearly different from the standard return policy. Even though the other girl associate told us we were suppose to be informed but we were never told, then the manager just said she's misinformed. Misleading conflicting information was given. After a few more visits to the other departments, I would have to upgrade this to a 5 star rating. I can't pinpoint a specific department because the associates were all similar in terms of providing that customer service. They all provided great advice along with answers to my questions. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone who is looking around. read more

I have a serious Nordstrom addiction and this is one of my favorites in LA. The new Glendale one near me does not have the selection I am looking for and sometimes Topanga and South Coast are too far a drive. Was looking for a pair of women's riding boots. I previously saw these shoes in Topanga, but did not buy them because I found the salesman there more then a little odd. I came to this store and was helped by the wonderful shoe sales man who brought me lots of different pairs of shoes and was very helpful. When I looked at the price of the shoe I wanted to buy, I saw there was an old anniversary sale sticker with a lower price, over $100 off, I asked if they sales man would honor this price and one call the the store manager and he did which I thought was very thoughtful. This store also has a nice selection of designer handbags and clothing and very helpful salespeople and a nice cafe. read more

Somehow, I come here, and go hummm.... I want it, but I don't. The merchandise selection this past year has been a bit too thrifty, yet not worth the penny. I love the makeup and perfume areas, but yet, it is a personal adventure to pick out the colors, yet you feel as though 50,000 shoppers are waiting right behind you. Wider aisles would help, but that was accomplished recently in the handbag area. Made a drastic difference, yet the quality of bags went way down. You would think with more space and better merchandising you could sell some really high end, high quality handbags. No, just now average. It is like 3 SOLID color bags a season, and that doesn't help either. Yet, I see why with the economy, it is tough to sell a printed handbag - I guess. I find the shoe selection the same way, very pedestrian or knock off's. I guess I want old Nordstroms back where you had brands that have spun off and become something even better, and perhaps, more profitable, too. read more

Great place to have a good lunch. The menu is brief, but the meals are really tasty. I enjoy just coming here and getting some shopping done and then ending the visit with a nice meal at the diner. Overall this is a very clean place, calm, with great service. You can count on a large variety of clothing, esp handbags and you can always find something classy, but different. Of course the prices are steep, but it is, after all, Nordstrom. read more

I wanted to buy a gift like a dress for my 12 Month old baby's friend and I couldn't find any!!!! they didn't have much, they weren't organized, they don't carry good brands and they couldn't help me to find anything! the only thing they offered me was that they can order online for me, THAT I CAN DO MYSELF, THANK YOU. Came here this past Monday looking for some shoes and couldn't believe how rude the sales people were in the shoe department they were acting like me and my mother were never there! The store wasn't even busy and 3/4 sales associates passed by while I held the shoe I was looking for in my hand and did nothing by smirk and pass by like if I was not worthy of their service or as if I shouldn't have been in that store worst customer service from nordstroms ever! We shop regularly at the kids shoe department and the time I go to look for shoe's for myself they act like total snobs! Never coming back here again even for my daughter's shoes I rather go to a nordstroms further away then to ever step foot in the arcadia store again they just lost some loyal customers! And I forgot to add in that after I finally got the attention of one sales associate he went to go check to see if they had my size in the shoe's but when he came back all he said was sorry we only have a size 9 and he just put the shoe down and walked away! totally rude and unhelpful he didn't even offer to check if another nordstroms carried what I was looking for or if I wanted to order what I wanted online! read more

My wife and I were in the store this afternoon and had the privilege of having Stephanie Rodriguez take care of us. Our daughter is getting married in the Virgin Islands, a small beach wedding, and the mother of the bride needed a dress quickly. Stephanie wasted no time in picking out several beautiful dresses that were ideal for the setting and type of wedding...casual but elegant. We not only bought one dress but also a second because it was also stunning. She then took my wife to another department to find the perfect shawl and just like that the mother of the bride was ready for our daughter's big day. Stephanie....thank you, thank you, thank you! Based on service today by a curly-haired, short, blonde and department manager named Dennis V. First off, to be clear, this is based on this specific incident because I've never had an experience quite like this. Upon entering the store, it is typical, greeted by several employees on the way to the counter. This is where the typical part ends. I am asked by blonde curly-haired what she can help me with. I reply a return of the boots. Without looking up or speaking pleasantly, she scans the box, says a manager will be with me, walks away to retrieve manager. Manager arrives. He asks me reason for return. I explain the the left boot keeps slipping/slouching (something not mentioned in description of boot, they are Fryes). He looks at scanner, never at me, says I bought them last July, and would honor the return this time. I ask what the problem was. He replies that what I have is normal stretching, "wear and tear" and I got to wear the boot, insinuating I'm returning for no good reason. I say, no, Frye boots which I own several pairs of are made to last, and kept for many seasons. In addition, these boots were worn only a few times during one season, rotating with other boots. He doesn't reply, continues with tapping the scanner, asked for driver license for return, all the while omitting please and thanks, then brings out a plastic bag, makes me (8 months pregnant) lean over the counter, take the boots from the box and place into the plastic bag. A cashier who did a return from customer ahead of me its bagging the shoes for return on back counter. I am livid. But I did it, wanting to leave the already deteriorated situation. He says he credited my account. I said you didn't ask me how I wanted my return, he responds "well I have to cancel the transaction and redo it", he does it begrudgingly, silently, turns to back cashier to retrieve receipt/refund and hands it to me. I open to find the name Dennis V., ask if this was him, hurriedly, then responds yes and for me to have a nice day. I left, called customer service and repeated my experience. There were apologies, and reassurances that Nordstrom does not operate this way. It's true, they don't. One bad apple is disappointing, hopefully Dennis V. Gets some retraining, or a different job that doesn't involve speaking with people politely. read more

I don't know about the rest of the departments at this Nordstroms but I know that the ladies at the bags departments are the nicest and the most helpful. They never ignore any customer and they are always pleased to help the customer. They make my day and I am sure I am not the only one. I went to Nordstrom today after work to run a small errand and had a really positive experience on this department. I ll look for my receipt and attach her name to this review later because she deserves it. If you ever want helpful associates for your next splurge, give this location a try! read more

Nordstrom is truly the best! It has all the different styles that are in fashion. Terrific service! Workers are very eager to assist you. Although clothes can be expensive, they are worth it. Best quality! The shoes department can be a bummer. I find that the women who work in the shoes department are easier to talk to. They are more friendly, and won't try to force you into buying.The makeup department is wonderful. Clinique, Clarisonic, Lancome......etc. Their gifts with purchases are always better than those of Macy's. read more

I have shopped at this store multiple times. The personal shoppers are awesome if you can resist the pressure to buy more than you need. They will quickly find you the closest thing they have to what you want and suggest other items to go with it. I had a special date to go on and had nothing I needed. They brought everything I needed to a fitting room and advised me in detail about how to look my best. This is how I learned what kind of lingerie I needed, found a dress that looked almost perfect, and got to know what they offered. I am giving four stars instead of five on the personal shopping due to the lightning fast personal service on the positive side but pressure to buy more than you want or need and grumpiness if you don't buy on the negative side. They exerted too much pressure to buy things I specifically said did not work for me. For example, the dress that was best did not really fit in the armholes. I admit, it still looked good, but I wasn't going to pay $450 for a dress that didn't fit perfectly. Also, I was pressured repeatedly to buy a scarf I didn't like. It was $90 and I knew I'd never wear it again. And, when I didn't buy anything but $120 worth of underwear, the personal shopper was very grumpy. It was as though someone flipped a switch. The fact that I became a repeat customer in the lingerie department made her time well worth it for Nordstroms, but her commission on that sale was lower than she had hoped. I would still very much recommend the service for those who are in a hurry and want to put together a good outfit. Just be prepared to have them hold the items while you go have a cup of coffee and think about what you really want and need before making your purchase. Or, take the items home and return what you don't want. Also, it would help to have an upper budget written down and be disciplined about not going over that budget. If I'd purchased all that was recommended for me, I would have spent over $1000. As it happened, I only bought a bra (and matching underwear). The bra was $88, but it fit spectacularly, and I've become a huge fan of that item and purchased it multiple times from Nordstroms. While those items weren't necessary for my date as I only needed a dress and shawl, I was so impressed with the fit and quality of the underthings that I became a fan. So, the personal shoppers' tendency to add more items than you ask for does have it's advantages. Also know that you can order sale or other items online and return them to the store if needed for a quick refund. This gives Nordstroms an edge over online lingerie companies as Nordstroms offers free shipping to and from the customer with no minimum order required. So, once I learned how great that bra was for me, I ordered it on sale online in a couple of different sizes after my weight changed and returned the one that didn't fit at the store for a quick full refund. read more

I'd really like to give this place a three star review for terrible customer service, I'm giving this a four stars only because of an awesome woman who helped me in cosmetics, the cosmetic floor seemed dead and I got one, "hi what can I help you with," from some Chanel lady who sent me off to another counter with my return, then some one at another area said hello to me and when I told them I had a return they sent me up to customer service! As I was walking away from the cosmetic area this woman with a smile says hello to me, I honestly didn't want to talk to no one from cosmetics no more, but she offered me a sample of some thing and was already handing it to me before I could say no, she asked me what brought me to Nordstrom, I told her I had a return that no one seems to want to help me with, I know she could tell I was frustrated, she asked to see the product, she said she could try to help me and apologized for every one else not following through, I told her the product irritates me, she asked me if she could try some thing light weight on me, she offered me a Lancôme toner and moisturizer, that I now love! She returned my product and gave me her card, thank you Sarah for helping me, and making it right in the cosmetic world, I will be back to see you for gift. read more

This particular Nordstrom always seems to carry the products I like in the sizes and colors I need. The store is far from me, but I'm willing to drive the extra miles just for that. Helia in handbags is absolutely wonderful! She's very helpful and always goes the extra mile. In lingerie, there is a wonderful young gal who once helped me and even advised me to use my reward points which I did not even know how much I had. I wish I could say the same about other associates. I approached a gentleman in the ladies' shoe dept. and told him I had put 2 pairs of shoes on hold to be picked up the night before. I specifically told him the brand, size and colors. He went in the back to look for them, returned 5 minutes later to say they were not there and were already put back. Well, wouldn't you think that if he didn't find them still on hold, he would pick them up from their storage area in the back and bring them to me? No, not him. And then recently there were two sale associates in Point of View who approached me and offered to help, but before I knew it, they were with different customers. This particular store should look into their customer service. read more

Experience only in mens suits section. I LOVE nordstrom by the way, just unfortunate bad experience. Bought a suit online and brought pants in to get tailored. Had originally taken to nordstrom rack closer to my home but did not end up liking final fit. I figured hey actual nordstrom is nicer so maybe better tailors. Had pants folded in hand. There was an asian girl who was not assisting anyone at the moment and i asked who i could see about getting pants tailored. She told me to hold on and made me stand there for 5 minutes while she finished folding clothes and said "if i don't finish this she is going to kill me when she gets back." By she i assume she meant her boss. Seriously? Hello! I am a customer you are a person working in retail where is the customer service? Your role is to help people in your store I don't give a crap if you are not fast enough to fold and your boss is coming back. When she finally decided to help me i explained situation and she said pants could not be tailored because they weren't hanging on a dry cleaning hanger. No shit....because they were ordered online and I had taken them to the rack but did not like the final fit and was there to get them fixed, which i had explained to her already. Hey I understand the tailor doesn't want to deal with smelly garments but there was no need to be rude, not helpful and unfriendly about it. Assumed i had worn because weren't on hanger. Only reason for 1 star is because either a manager or the tailor himself (idk) came out, apologized and explained (like a human being would) reason why clothes had to come on dry cleaning hanger, which i get. Even offered to tailor for free for bad customer service and experience. My opinion if you are not helpful to people in your store don't work in retail! read more
