There was a lot of detailing, and most every building system (such as site work, concrete, framing, windows/doors, siding) was identified in the scope of work. Business owner and manager, Cherif Guerguis, is focused on professional customer service. Communication was great - always knew what to expect - no surprises. MB has the capacity and ability to meet the customer where they are at. Cherif's aim is to get the job - to benefit the business obviously - but he enjoys delivering a package that pleases the customer. Most days Cherif came to the job site, and every day he calls. The crew is considerate, congenial, and get the big picture really well. Most of all MB is a team offering a wide range of services, skill sets, talents such as rough carpentry, weatherproofing, concrete & masonry, drywall, finish carpentry, and systems. They are efficient and willing to do the tough work that comes with the job. Due to the commute, MB often worked 4,10 hour days, each week, which was a relief and allowed us to catch up with them over weekend. I give MB 5 stars for always keeping this job on-track even when having to adjust to labor shortages, complexities, and delayed deliveries. MB was good at working through the punch list at the end of the job - making sure we were satisfied. It helped for us to pitch-in at times with clean up and putting in final touches. The photos show the before and after.

I didn't know where to start but I knew what I wanted the end product to look like. Brenton and crew were the ones I selected after meeting with what felt like a dozen different contractors. Not only were they transparent on their costs, the estimates were fair and the experience level appeared appropriate for the total renovation of my apartment. As to be expected, there were bumps in the road during the course of the renovations. I'm the type of person that visited the site at least 3-4 times per week to check on progress and to make sure my dream was coming to life the way that I expected. Brenton always put his best foot forward and offered good options where needed. He didn't "nickel and dime" me on things and I appreciated that they kept the workspace clean. The whole team worked with me when I threw curve balls and never seemed to flinch at my attention to the tiniest of details. Never did they make me feel like I was overbearing...though I'm pretty sure I was...just a little! Lol. Anyway, after tons of compliments (and a very favorable appraisal), I am convinced that DTC is one of the best, if not THE best, in the business. If I had to to it all over again...I'd call DTC in a heartbeat!

It was quite a big change for her after living independently, so we took our time researching options and companies. My mom wanted a design-build company that would take care of the entire project from start to finish. We met with three other design-build companies and felt most comfortable with Atlas. Their estimate was also fair and reasonable. Josh, our project coordinator, was down to earth, patient, a good listener, and easy to work with. He made my mom feel at ease and clearly cared about what was important to her. Josh was a constant presence from the beginning and throughout the design phase. We met with Jeremy and Josh weekly to design the layout and specifications of the ADU. We had difficulty making some decisions and changed our minds on a few things. They were incredibly patient and kind toward us, doing their best to accommodate exactly what my mom wanted. We continued meeting weekly with them until we were completely happy with the design plans. After that, they took care of submitting the plans for permitting. Once permitting was approved--less than a year later--we met at our home with Josh, Bruce (the owner), and Shay and Saul. Bruce came to meet us personally to share the company's heart, commitment, and dedication to its customers. Shay was our project manager, and we worked with her for the entire duration of the build. Shay was extremely responsive, patient, accommodating, and always available. We can be very detail-oriented and nit-picky, but she took it all in stride. She truly went above and beyond every step of the way to make sure we were happy with everything and completely satisfied with the end product. Even when unexpected things came up or things didn't go exactly as planned, Shay always made it right. The build took about nine months, which was quicker than the permitting. All the workers and subcontractors were great to work with. They were respectful, on time, and hardworking. Unfortunately, I can't remember everyone's names, but I specifically want to give a shout-out to Gabe, Randy, Shane, and Aaron; and to the subcontractors, Joel (electrician) and Marlon (AC). Bethany, our selections coordinator, was also wonderful--knowledgeable, helpful, and willing to meet with us multiple times. She even came with us to different vendors to help us select every single item in the ADU. Her eye for design was extremely helpful. She also put together a packet of all the products we selected with their warranties and rebates! We can't thank Atlas enough for their professionalism and trustworthiness. Every member of the team worked with the same ethic and care. My mom is extremely happy and settled in her new home. It has everything she asked for, with quality materials and craftsmanship. Atlas was amazingly able to design an ADU with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a laundry room, living room, and kitchen--all within 800 square feet! Even after our project was done, we have contacted Shay a few times, and she is still incredibly helpful and responsive. We are truly grateful for Josh, Shay, and the entire Atlas 'Ohana and team who made us feel more like family than customers. We would not hesitate to recommend Atlas for your next construction project. They made a very daunting, overwhelming project as simple and easy as it could be, especially for people with no background knowledge in construction. Thank you so much for everything!!!

During the process of building a multigenerational home, interviewing and communicating with…read morecontractors became pretty tedious. We interviewed quite a few contractors before finally deciding on S. Tanaka Construction. What we quickly realized during those meetings was that many contractors didn't seem to actually listen to what we wanted. Instead, it often felt like they were pushing their own agenda or simply trying to make a sale. Our initial meeting with Ryan Tanaka went really well. He is incredibly patient and genuinely listens to your wants and needs for your future home. I'm not sure how many people reading this are actively in the process of building a multigenerational home, but it is definitely not easy when there are a lot of people involved! It will probably be one of the most important "group projects" you'll ever do with your family, and it can be difficult when everyone has different wants and needs and doesn't always see eye to eye. Ryan made this process A LOT easier. He listened to both sides, offered compromises and practical solutions, and found ways to combine everyone's ideas to create the perfect house for us. The house was completed right within the timeframe estimated. During the design and construction phase, Jen was there to help us along the way. She helped us choose our finishes, paint colors, and interior options and referred us to their preferred vendors, where we were able to pick out exactly what we wanted for cabinets, flooring, tile, and more. During this phase, most of our communication was with Jen. Ryan and Jen are both super easy to work with, prompt, and extremely responsive by phone and email. Our project manager, Terry, was also on top of everything, and we got along really well with him. Anytime we needed help or had a question about the house, we could reach out to any of them and receive a timely response. Overall, I can't imagine choosing another company to help us build our dream home. S. Tanaka Construction made the entire process as enjoyable and stress-free as building a house can realistically be. It also seems like their company has expanded to accommodate the additional projects coming their way, which means business must be good--and it's great to see a local company doing well while helping local families build their homes.
