I had dinner here with colleagues AUG2024. The place has a very nice atmosphere inside. Service was very friendly and the food was delicious! Solid 4+ for our first experience here. read more

Joined a friend for dinner at Nora, located right in Streeterville. The curb appeal is so beautiful albeit it is right near the Inn of Chicago which has become a migrant shelter and run down. However once inside, you will forget all about that because the menu has so many great options with traditional Sardinian recipes - quite unique for Chicago. We had just missed the happy hour which runs 4-6pm on the outside patio weekdays. I mention it so others know it's a thing here:) Bread with a house made olive tapenade is brought over as a complimentary starter and if you love olives, you will love this! I ordered a mixed beet salad $15 and my friend had a caesar salad $12. As a main course I absolutely had to get the Culurgiones (a potato dumpling with cheese and tomato sauce) $26 when I spotted them on the menu because it's very popular in Sardinia but not a commonly known dish outside of Italy. My friend opted for the hangar steak $43. We were considering sharing the branzino but the waitress talked us out of it, but I'm thinking I'd still like to try it another day. Also they have fregula which again is another tradition Sardinian dish but it would have been so filling. I'll definitely be back for it though! Yum. Everything was well portioned, presented well, and tasted great! Table service was attentive, albeit it wasn't too busy during our meal. Keep your eyes on your table though because the bussers are mighty quick to take plates away which made us feel rushed for no apparent reason. We weren't even done but just talking and enjoying ourselves and my Culurgiones disappeared before I could finish them. That bugged me because I could have enjoyed those last few!! When I told the waitress, she apologized and giggled but since only 5 come to an order, taking two away before I could enjoy them was really not ok. My friend loved her hangar steak and said it was cooked to perfection! We considered indulging in desert but ultimately opted for expresso this time. Ambiance: 9/10 Service: 8/10 Menu selection: 10/10 read more

Walked here and the ambiance was amazing. We got seated and our waiter was amazing. He was so quick with taking our orders and waiting for the food was not long at all. I ordered the hanger steak which so tender and good it had a side of potatoes and arugula salad. You could pour the gravy on top of the steak which was also given on the side. The drinks here was so good. And very pretty presented. Our waiter recommended the burrata and it was so fresh and good. There was also complimentary bread service as well. Really enjoyed this place which was literally across the hotel we were staying at. read more

The food was good. The wait staff was slow and not thorough. Seemed confused about the wines, and didn't offer a side salad or any other options or ideas about the menu. read more

Stopped in for a cocktail. Nice service and pretty interior. Low key spot off Michigan ave. Only reason for 1 star ding was glasses were a bit water stained and could have been polished- seems petty but it's all in the details! read more

My mom and I ate here and it was is amazing. The service is some of the best I've ever had. They asked me if I wanted a refill of my drink when it was empty. The inside is festive for Christmas but not over bearing like most places and a plus for me is that they weren't playing Christmas music. The food my mom and I had was amazing so delicious. My pasta was perfectly al dente and very flavorful. read more

I had a nice experience at Nora, but, unfortunately, I don't think it's a restaurant that I will be returning to. I dined with a group of friends on the patio for lunch. While the ambience was lovely and beautiful, the service was very slow. We ordered an assortment of spreads for an appetizer, which were nice! However, I couldn't finish my roasted cauliflower salad with chicken, as there was too much dressing and the chicken was gamey/fatty. Sadly, didn't love this place, which was a bummer! read more

Stopped in for a drink and an appetizer. The drink was a side car, perfectly prepared. The appetizer was Vitelli Tonnato, so flavorful. The veal was tender and tasty and the sauce was incredible. I live in the neighborhood and if you do, you should try Nora Restaurant. It's cozy and romantics inside and a wonderful setting. Servic by the bartender was excellent. read more

I was heading to Starbucks from my hotel and saw Nora's on my stroll. I looked it up on Yelp and instantly due to the reviews, photos of the food and menu I made a reservation for 6 for that same evening The environment was dark, cozy and vibrant. The host was very accommodating for some of our needs. Our server, Catalina was very pleasant. We brought our own wine which has a fair corkage fee and policy of $30 a bottle as long as it is not on their wine list We started with the trio of spreads which was a beautiful looking plate. The most interesting was the beet spread but the hummus was the best. Eggplant was just just ok The shrimp appetizer was not very good. The sauce was not very developed and the shrimp was bland We ordered a mushroom and truffle oil risotto entree as an appetizer to taste and share. It was incredible. Cooked perfect and so fragrant We had salads. I had the beet and cauliflower salad and loaded with Gorgonzola chunks. It was HUGE! Seriously three people could have split the salad. No one was able to finish theirs. It's not a bad thing. Just I was getting full so I left half over The grilled halibut flavor was delicious and a nice thick cut but it was over cooked. Also I would have liked a nice piccata sauce on it. But I still enjoyed it The lamb shank, which I only tasted, was one of the star dishes At the end we had an affogato, which is always great and a world class classic Negroni! Nora is a gem and as this restaurant matures will only get better. Prices are reasonable and I would definitely come back Grazie Nora- Grazie! read more

Amazing food. The octopus was tender and perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the meatballs and they too were amazing. And the cocktails were top notch. Will definitely be coming back read more

Wow! What a gem. This goes down as one of our top three late-night dinners that made the day. We will be back. We had made 7:30 PM reservations, but the flight & ORD put us way behind. Cancelled the reservation. Arrived at 8:30 PM. We were offered a table outside, but it was hot & humid, so we moved inside--plenty of room. Nice dining area. Great staff and service. Excellent menu. We started with the Burrata - cherry tomato confit, salmorejo sauce, balsamic pearl, basil oil, and guttiau bread. Their bread basket was perfect. We shared the Goat Cheese Salad and the most amazing Malloreddus Ragu d'Agnello e Carciofi, a traditional Sardinian Malloreddus pasta in slow-braised lamb ragu, white wine, sautéed artichoke, & Ricotta Mustia. My mouth is watering just writing about it. Nora has a nice drink menu. We enjoyed their Pinot Grigio, perfect with our meal. Lots of sparkling water, too. Topped off the meal with a traditional Sardinian dessert, Seada, a crispy semolina dumpling stuffed with fresh Pecorino, lemon, candied walnuts, dried figs, drizzled with mirto sauce & local honey, topped with honey gelato. Thank you, Nora team. You have a great place. read more

Nora has a beautiful interior design. There are pretty lantern lights and dangling greenery. It was very aesthetically pleasing. They use blue china dishes and plate the food beautifully. We loved the salty focaccia bread with olive tapenade. Great way to open the meal! We ordered the seafood skewer and the burrata. Both were delicious and generous portions. We were starting to fill up before the main meal. I had the roasted duck salad, which was phenomenal. The arugula salad was dressed with the perfect amount of acidity. It was very well-balanced. The duck medallions were tender and juicy. My husband had the sea bass, which was light but full of flavor. We were very pleased with our food. The service was great! We expressed we were in a bit of a rush, and they accommodated us by bringing the check early. We had a great dinner. read more

Unpleasant experience. Only 2 other people in the bar and it took nearly more than 5 minutes for the bartender to ask for my order. No water served upon my seating. No happy hour menu given to me upon my seating. I arrived after 4 , when happy hour is going on. The food and drink was good but service was not the best. read more

Came here to meet up with friends for Sunday dinner any it was fairly open. It picked up after 6:30pm The food was fresh - especially enjoyed the warm bread, tuna crudo. Great service by the staff. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed their food. I however didn't quite love my suckling pig. It didn't exactly get the crunch I was hoping for and the sauce was too overpowering. read more

The best of the night was the black and white hummus paired with the freshly baked pita bread. I'm super picky about hummus, but this one was definitely a great choice. We also ordered beet spread, taramosalata, and eggplant spread, they were also delicious. I had grilled halibut for my main dish, the flavor was definitely on the lighter side, didn't really impress me. My friends had their Gnocchetti, oxtail calamarata, sea bass, and roaster duck salad. All dishes were ok, nothing really stood out to us besides the bread baskets and the spread sampler. The services was phenomenal, our waiter ensured us with the best service and experience. The environment was also amazing, great place to hang out with friends. read more

Visited Chicago for work and decided to come here for a bite to eat. The place is so aesthetically pleasing, and the staff are very friendly. The best octopus I've ever had is here! I am very skeptical on octopus and usually do not like it because it's chewy and tastes like rubber bands. However, the server highly recommended for me to try it. I tried it and it was so soft, flavorful , not chewy at all and tasted delicious. I can probably say that this is probably the best octopus I've ever had. I also tried the beet salad and it was so refreshing with the strawberry sauce. It's good for winter and Summer meal. I came during happy hour, but they're happy. Our menu was nothing special. It was just typical bar food. However, their main menu I would highly recommend. read more

Happy hour is totally worth it! Fun drinks and even yummier food. Staff is excellent and the location is very nice!!

Outstanding food, service, and ambiance. Nora has it all in spades! Nora is not over the top, but has a good upscale feel to it and is certainly not casual. The service is phenomenal. Despite having a large group dining that night, the staff went out of the way to make sure that we were well taken care of. The food was simply fantastic. The calamari was done to perfection. The charcuterie board had outstanding options. The halibut was done to perfection, as was the branzino. Last but not least, the dessert options are all top notch. As a group we could not decide on which one, so we got one of each and I am happy that we did - they were all excellent! read more

Over several months, I had eagerly anticipated dining at this establishment. While the dining experience was generally satisfactory, it did not meet my expectations for an elevated dining experience. The salmon that was not on the menu was exceptionally good, but the hanger steak was just average considering the price point. The staff were very friendly and efficient. read more

Went solo had an amazing dinner from start to finish. I had the Burrata & Agnolotti which is pasta stuffed with braised short rib, roasted mushroom sauce, white truffle oil, shaved Pecorino. The only feedback is the Agnolotti, the menu said it had mushroom sauce but there were so many mushrooms in the foot itself. I should have asked. I don't mind mushroom sauce but i lost count after 40 tiny mushrooms were in the pasta sauce. Definitely a "me thing" but otherwise 10/10 read more

Definitely the best food we have had while in Chicago. We were somewhat limited because we were staying at the Hyatt attached to Northwestern University Medical Center. We did eat at The Albert and Labriola neither of which could compare to the quality of Nora. The Lamb Shank, Gnocchi, Beet Salad, and Goat Cheese Salad were all excellent. My wife's lamb shank was the best she had ever had, tender and tasty. The salads were seasoned perfectly. read more

Walked here and was greeted instantly. Sat at the bar and was helped right away with curtesy. The drinks and food were amazing. Strong drinks and very tasteful food. The ambiance and vibe was super cool. This was our first time eating here but it was recommended. Well we will not be back. I will be honest and say the food was really good even though our experience was horrible. It began when we first arrived. The customer service was BAD BAD!! I would add one more BAD but I do not have enough time to do that. . Disappointing read more

I thought the food was tasty but not organized well on the plate. The atmosphere was just ok. And, our server seemed somewhat limited in menu knowledge. The restaurant is bistro sized. Why not emphasize that? Also, perhaps they can keep the red wine at a cool 55-65 degrees. Our wine was rather warm. I will try it again in a couple weeks looking for improvement. I'm staying at the Hyatt Centric across the street from Nora and decided to try it for lunch. My server Kseniya was very friendly and helpful with recommending the best lunch. Good! While the service leaves something to be desired (it took several minutes for someone to show up at the host stand and seat me, amongst other problems), I thought the food and drinks were great. Very much was a wonderful atmosphere, the service was pretty good. The calamari came out hot. The Gastro was not as expected chunky but that's just my concede. Holy crap. This place is amazing. It has absolutely everything. Atmosphere, ambience, traditional Sardinian dishes that are to die for. I started with the soup, the Ribollita Toscana. So hearty with kale, cabbage, potatoes, so flavorful. My entree was the handmade short rib ravioli with mushrooms. I might have thought I passed away and landed in heaven with this dish. I will definitely be returning as soon as possible. The service was also top notch. Our server Raul was so friendly and attentive. Run, dont walk! read more

We had to make a last minute change for our anniversary dinner and ended up at Nora. It didn't look super intimate from the outside, but inside it was cozy and romantic, good lighting, music at a conversation-friendly level. From the moment we walked in the service was excellent; everyone was very attentive throughout our meal, and we didn't tell them it was our anniversary, so this is just their level of service. Everything we ate was delicious, from the burrata appetizer and beet salad to the short rib agnolotti and a decadent zuppa di pesce, to the dark chocolate pot de creme and lemon tart for dessert. A wonderful unexpected find. We would definitely go there again! read more

If I could give this place a 4.5 I would but Yelp doesn't allow .5's. We started off with the calamari which was super crispy and delicious. The tartar sauce was really good but the romesco sauce was a little bland. We got our pastas at a decent time. I got a sardinian pasta which tasted amazing. The pasta was chewy and delicious, the sauce had saffron, sausage, ragu, red wine and topped with pecorino cheese. It was definitely one of the best pastas I've ever had, super flavorful! My stepdad, got an oxtail pasta that tasted divine, while my mother had a cream clam pasta which tasted kinda bland. The service was good, we were taken care off and they very attentive. The ambiance was very nice. We came during Christmas time and the entire place was decked out in ornaments and wreaths, very cozy. I would rate this place a 4.5/5, bonus points the music they were playing was pretty good. read more

Nora is such a great addition to the Streeterville area in downtown Chicago! It's intimate, cozy and full of great food selections with the Mediterranean inspiration of the island Sardinia, Italy Yes - another great addition to the Chicago Italian restaurant scene! What I tried: Grilled Pecorino Cheese - I LOVED THIS!!! The pecorino cheese was melted, with drizzled honey on top Gambas Pil Pil - this is a great appetizer if you love shrimp! The flavor of the saffron really stands out in this dish. Sea Bass alla Nora - perfect! Totally love the flavor of the dill! Young Chicken Galleto - the portion served was big and the chicken and potatoes absorbed the white wine reduction. Delish! Dueño - I love Bourbon so this drink was for me! There's elderflower liqueur and grapefruit juice in it - perfect for sipping while having great conversation! I couldn't even make it to dessert because I was so full, but they have great dessert options and every one that I saw come from the kitchen looked so good! This restaurant is perfect for any occasion- family dinner, ladies night out, date night or a lovely solo dinner like I had! They also have happy hour Mon-Fri from 4pm-6pm. I came here with a few friends for lunch during the St. Patrick's weekend celebration. The service was good, for as busy of a weekend in the city as it was. The drinks were great; my friends share a bottle of Prosecco and I got a Guinness on tap. The food was a little disappointing. The fresh oysters were amazing but the friend seafood and veggie plate was under-seasoned and lack luster. The truffle risotto was delicious while our salads were just okay.
