We loved the salty focaccia bread with olive tapenade. Great way to open the meal! We ordered the seafood skewer and the burrata. Both were delicious and generous portions. We were starting to fill up before the main meal. I had the roasted duck salad, which was phenomenal. The arugula salad was dressed with the perfect amount of acidity. It was very well-balanced. The duck medallions were tender and juicy. My husband had the sea bass, which was light but full of flavor. We were very pleased with our food. The service was great! The best of the night was the black and white hummus paired with the freshly baked pita bread. I'm super picky about hummus, but this one was definitely a great choice. We also ordered beet spread, taramosalata, and eggplant spread, they were also delicious. I had grilled halibut for my main dish, the flavor was definitely on the lighter side, didn't really impress me. My friends had their Gnocchetti, oxtail calamarata, sea bass, and roaster duck salad. If I could give this place a 4.5 I would but Yelp doesn't allow .5's. We started off with the calamari which was super crispy and delicious. The tartar sauce was really good but the romesco sauce was a little bland. We got our pastas at a decent time. I got a sardinian pasta which tasted amazing. The pasta was chewy and delicious, the sauce had saffron, sausage, ragu, red wine and topped with pecorino cheese. It was definitely one of the best pastas I've ever had, super flavorful! My stepdad, got an oxtail pasta that tasted divine, while my mother had a cream clam pasta which tasted kinda bland. The service was good, we were taken care off and they very attentive. The ambiance was very nice. We came during Christmas time and the entire place was decked out in ornaments and wreaths, very cozy. We had to make a last minute change for our anniversary dinner and ended up at Nora. It didn't look super intimate from the outside, but inside it was cozy and romantic, good lighting, music at a conversation-friendly level. From the moment we walked in the service was excellent; everyone was very attentive throughout our meal, and we didn't tell them it was our anniversary, so this is just their level of service. Everything we ate was delicious, from the burrata appetizer and beet salad to the short rib agnolotti and a decadent zuppa di pesce, to the dark chocolate pot de creme and lemon tart for dessert. The drinks were great; my friends share a bottle of Prosecco and I got a Guinness on tap. The food was a little disappointing. We had the grilled pecorino and it's a don't miss. The gazpacho was perfectly seasoned and fresh. I had the goat cheese salad, which had 4 large pieces of baked goat cheese and a perfect vinaigrette. Such a simple delicious salad! Enough for a meal. Also got the Mezza Rigatoni, very tasty but the eggplant skin was a turnoff. They serve a bread basket with an olive tapenade, so full of taste. The service at the bar is friendly and efficient and the happy hour specials (food and drink) are spot on. In fact, this is one of the few places I have observed prosecco on tap offered as a menu item. The bartenders/servers were really hustling on the Friday I visited, as there was a group that had commandeered the bar for a going away party. This is something for which I think a private room would have been warranted. Not the fault of the restaurant at all, but definitely not the laid-back happy hour experience I had in mind. My mom and I both enjoyed the vegetable soup (I forget what it was called), the beet spread, and the olive tapenade that they start you off with. She got the steak frites both times and said it's the best she's ever had. We also both got the crème de pot and my gosh! The balance of flavors and textures! Incredible. Only slight downsides for me were a spread that was too spicy (might have been romesco) and the funghi risotto, which tasted awesome but got a little boring halfway through. Maybe some more Gorgonzola for pop? As for service, our waiter was a little timid but attentive, and gave us great recommendations. Nora is a cozy and sweet spot that just recently hit the Streeterville scene. Walking in, I was so impressed with the re-vamped space of the now shuttered Coco Pazzo space. Varnished wood, colorful tile and tons of greenery felt so welcoming and comfortable. The manager and our server offered complete hospitality. We felt so cared for by both. The cuisine is a beautiful mix of Sardinian and Mediterranean flavors. Everything was created perfectly and plated in an artistic way. We loved our appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts. Nora was a lovely place to eat. Small inside but it's attached to a boutique hotel. The ambiance at night is dark and intimate. What stuck out most to me was how nice and attentive the staff was. There was never a time that we were without water, plates were consistently cleared, table was wiped down after the plates were cleared and we were asked how we were multiple times. I appreciated the hospitality! The food was also delicious! The dips we got weren't my favorite but they were still tasty. However, I loved the complimentary focaccia bread and olive spread. Delicious! The olive appetizer was good, as well. You get a lot of olives which is nice when you're an olive gal like me! I love trying Caesar salads wherever I go, and this one was crunchy and cold, not too heavy on the dressing. They also put actual anchovies on top which weren't bad at alll! For the entree we both got the ravioli and I was super impressed. I am Italian and have Sicilian roots so the way they made their ravioli was much like we do at home, including the sauce which tasted identical to my Nunnie's. The star of the show was dessert. We ordered the Baklava Gelato Sundae which may have been one of the best desserts I have ever had! It hit all of the right notes for me: crunchy, creamy, sweet and savory. I would go back to Nora based on that alone! I also ordered sorbet but they were out of it so they gave me their seasonal sorbet on the house which was so kind of them.
