Royal Japchae (gluten-free, vegan) with Korean Flank Steak

The perfect takeout if you live in the area. Was very tasty and delicious. Recommend!

purse hooks at the bar
Alyssa C.

What started as a casual vegan lunch spot turned into a noisy but worthwhile reminder that good food doesn't need meat or peace and quiet. I was soggy, starving, and somewhere between "I could cry" and "I could devour a small country." So when my friends and I stumbled into Noodle Love in New York City, it felt like a warm hug in the form of carbs and chili oil. This wasn't a planned food adventure, but dfinitely a much-needed escape from the New York drizzle and noise. But you know I always review honestly, so here's the truth of what actually happened: The place was adorable, like café-meets-fast-casual with bright art, leafy accents, and seating that actually fits a human. Major bonus: bar seating had outlets and purse hooks (purse hooks much appreciated). The menu was a millennial fever dream--healthy, colorful, and refreshingly customizable. I love that they made it so easy to choose vegan or vegetarian dishes, and the spice levels could be adjusted. My friends and I split three bowls between us: Im pretty sure they were the Thai Basil Chop with crushed peanuts and Thai chilli sauce, the Spicy Kimchi Crunch stacked with veggies like jicama and radish, and a Tofu noodle dish that made me question why tofu ever gets shade. The staff who served us was sweet and patient, even when they had to tell me that some of the bestsellers were sold out. Sad for me. Great sign for them. Clearly, the locals know the best on the menu. The Whole Vibe of the place: Let's just say I walked out looking like a spice-drenched noodle convert with a semi-cleansed aura and zero regrets. But if you're hoping for a place to talk and catch up on life with friends, there could be better options. It's a little echoey, and between the conversations, background music, and the general noodle chaos, we had a hard time talking through the noise from across the table. It was like hosting a podcast no one asked for. If I had to nitpick, it was too noisy to linger too long. A few signature bowls were sold out. And the house-brewed kombucha wasn't available the day we went, which felt like a letdown. I was looking forward to that, BUT none of that ruined the food at all. It's subway-accessible and perfect for a quick pop-in. Parking is a nightmare, but it's New York - it's a city where you don't want to drive in. There were actual charging outlets, which made it tempting to camp out if not for the noise. Booth seating was comfy, and it felt like the kind of place you could do a quick lunch break or solo food stop between meetings. The bathroom was clean enough. Not luxury, but serviceable. The kitchen looked tidy, and the ingredients looked fresh, which always gives me peace of mind. Would I go back? YES, for a spicy, fast lunch or post-workout refuel. Not for deep conversations or a three-hour hangout though. If you're noodle-curious in NYC and want something fresh, fast, and plant-friendly, this is a solid spot worth checking out.

1/1 Ambience; 1.5/2 Food + Beverages; 1/1 Service; 1/1 Value Noodlelove traverses the zone between fast and casual sit-down restaurants with a modern, airy and spacious interior, but a walk-up register where patrons place their own orders with myriad customizable options. My friend and I especially loved the seating by the counters at the windows, perfect for people watching in SoHo! I got the KBBQ rice bowl with chicken and my friend got the bibimbap with chicken. We were both very satisfied with the flavors, all of which were balanced and complemented each other. The KBBQ rice bowl was savory and rich with umami flavor and a hint of sweetness. There was a beautiful smokey flavor that suggests that the chicken was grilled over a real flame. I love smokier flavors, so this was perfect for me. The bowl was not spicy at all, but they have sriracha on the side that can be added. I don't think the purple rice added different a flavor to the bowl, but it sure did make it more aesthetically pleasing! All the ingredients were fresh, and the meal was filling without being heavy or boggy. The staff was friendly and the food was prepared and served piping hot expediently. Overall, it is perhaps a littler pricier for the fast-casual scene, but for the portion size with the freshness and quality (and in consideration of the neighborhood) I think it is justified. I have probably walked by Noodlelove a hundred times before, but I'm glad that I finally stepped in because of how great of an experience this was!

VERY GOOD . The noodles were delicious, the sauce was creamy with the perfect amount of spice. I subbed out the udon noodles for glass noodles and they went perfect with the enoki mushrooms. The place has a nice vibe and window seating . Service was good .

This place was great! I got the cold noodle salad and it really hit the spot after a long work day! The staff was friendly and kept things simple and easy. Restaurant is dark but not uncomfortable by any means--great mood starter. Great spot to grab some good food and then get on your way!

Create your own bowl (refer to review for description)

Noodlelove is in a unique middle ground. It is a sit-down restaurant, yet its menu and food options are kind of like a fast casual restaurant (in terms of ordering, not quality). It appears at first like an Americanized Asian restaurant with its modern and Westernized decor, yet it offers some traditional Asian ingredients in the bowls. I did the "create your own bowl" and got mine with purple rice, bean sprouts, snow pea leaves, watermelon radish, enoki mushrooms, sesame soy sauce, and Korean flank steak (you can see what I mean with the ingredients). This cost me $11 + $8.50 for the steak, which was a typical sit-down restaurant price. The bowl was pretty good - no particular ingredients that especially stood out to me, but I will add that the rice was a bit too oily though. I also tried the Royal Japchae with roasted chicken ($12 + $5 for the chicken), which seemed to be a pretty standard traditional preparation of japchae and was pretty good as well. They have some interesting drink options, which seem to blend some different cuisines (again, highlighting the interesting positioning of the restaurant). I ordered an Ube Horchata, which had some classic horchata on the bottom with a foamy layer of ube froth / liquid on top. This was very unique and tasty, however the cup was literally half filled with ice, so the portion size was actually very small. At least it was only $6, but still... also our waiter forgot about our drink until I reminded him about it later on which was not a good start to the meal. On the topic of service, our waiter was otherwise actually very friendly. The service speed was a bit on the slow side though. As mentioned earlier, the restaurant's decor / atmosphere is like a mix of Western and Eastern styles. There is a decent amount of seating with no wait on a weekend night. Overall, if you are looking for a good Asian restaurant that is sit-down yet not like a fancy sit-down place, then Noodlelove could be a very good option for you.

Ube Horchata
Zach O.

Ube Horchata. Need I say more? Horchata is one of my favorite drinks and ube is one of my favorite flavors, so combining these flavors is the perfect marriage. Granted I have hardcore commitment issues so I may not know what I'm talking about. But in all seriousness, this drink is absolutely worth the stop. The ube flavor was a bit stronger compared to the Horchata, but it was still super good. I will absolutely stop by again the next time I'm in NYC!

Glass noodes, Baby Bok Choy, Bean Sprouts, onion, kimchi, thai chili, korean fried chicken, cilantro, and crushed peanuts

The restaurant had a nice vibe, with a cool mirror wall that makes for a nice selfie or group picture back drop. The menu had various options that all sounded very good, but I went for the Create-Your-Own bowl. The prices were very reasonable. My food was fantastic, but very filling. I ended up taking half of it to go. The staff were very patient and helpful when asked what were good options for the bowl. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys Asian noodle or rice bowls.

First time coming here and glad I did! As a noodle lover this place lived up to its name, the noodles were perfectly cooked with delicious sauce and spices, I ordered with tofu and would've liked more of it, other than that ingredients were fresh and good portion for the price I was satisfied, service was really good the server gave good recommendations, decent sized place and modern ambience and clean!

I came to NYC for a night and actually ate here twice I loved it so much. I dined in and did take out, when dining in our server was super friendly and attentive. I did a create your own wok bowl, which is the best.. I love being able to pick my own vegetables/toppings. I did cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, zucchini, chopped peanuts, and sesame soy sauce. The next time I doubled up on some veggies since it was only .50 more.. very affordable!

The pacing of the meal for the quantity of food received seemed very rushed, and we didn't really have a chance to relax and enjoy any of the courses. However, the quality of the experience was a complete disaster particularly for the price. Clearly, the packed restaurant would disagree, but for the four of us anyway, we would not return. It started with the check in process at what felt like a long hotel front desk with multiple, self important hosts and hostesses overseeing your entrance to the cavernous bar/waiting area. One problem is the noise is so deafening that you can't really hear what they say to you but we check in a few minutes early and waited obediently in the bar area chatting. After about 30 minutes (15 after our reservation time), and watching numerous parties large and small who arrived after us be seated by the hostesses wandering through the dimly lit space who peer quizzically and ask your name, my husband went to ask for an update. (We joked that those vibrating lighted buzzers alerting when your table was ready would have been super helpful, but it was amusing to watch while we waited). It was clear they somehow lost track of us as she had him repeatedly spell our (not unusual) name. Anyway, after that, within 10 minutes after that we were taken downstairs to our seats (but not before standing awkwardly in the large dining area near packed tables waiting while our table was cleaned). Server with a heavy accent was kind and mostly helpful so none of this is on him. The busser who managed to spill half a pitcher of cold water on my husband's back, soaking his shirt and jacket and barely apologizing, is a whole other story. We managed to get a glass of his mediocre Cabernet comped for the experience. If I sound annoyed, I guess I still am. I had high hopes for a fun and tasty experience in a cool part of the city and it just wasn't.

It's not your typical lychee martini. It has Aperol and pineapple, which gives it a great flavor. My only note is that I wish it were a bit stronger. We also had the lobster spring rolls, another great dish, and the crispy wontons, which were good but not my favorite compared to everything else. For our entrée we got the beef tenderloin, another must get. It was amazing, super tender, and melts in your mouth. We had it with the fried rice, which was solid. For dessert we had the ice cream sandwich, which was different in the best way and extremely delicious. It wasn't too sweet and the cone "buns" were perfection. Overall, this place is gorgeous and the food matches. I would definitely return. The service was also great, the perfect balance of letting you do your own thing and truly enjoy your evening while still checking in. It is pricey. We each paid $184 including tip, but it's definitely worth it for a special occasion or to spoil yourself a bit.

We had three of the hot apps, Foie gras, lobster shumai with caviar and morel mushroom with spinach crystal dumplings. After that we're deciding between the quail and beef tenderloin wok dishes. Since the quail was spicy went with tenderloin which came with small serving of rice. All the food was great. I felt the crystal dumpling needed a kicked and they brought Out there house soy and hot vinegar sauce. For drinks I tried there mix of a classic martini with an old fashioned and after discussions with there somm who nicely recommended a more affordable bottle that would meet our needs got the Chardonnay by glass as a bottle. Enjoyed the meal though likely spent 5 times what usually spend on Chinese place mainly due to cost of alcohol. Place is well designed with a look similar to Butter downtown with the arched ceiling mixed with with the sound dampening feature of similar design of bar Boulod. Will return to try the quail and the lobster spring rolls and if they keep to this standard will increase rating to 5.

Be aware that the lighting is dim and the background noise is loud! The front bar room is so loud that you have to shout with your guest. Our party of 6 was seated in a tiny booth which we had to ask for an additional chair to accommodate us. Service (5/5): We were able to get someone's attention to order and we were refilled on water often. The food was organized by appetizers and entrees that arrive all at the same time. The wait between ordering and food felt reasonable to short. The waiter also specified that certain dishes quantity (i.e. potstickers) could be increased to accommodate our party size for an extra cost. Food (5/5): TLDR; every dish was honestly SO good; I was surprised and will rank the items by 'must get' to skippable: Short Rib Bao Bun (3 pc): The short rib was so tender and flavorful. The bao bun was soft. The sauce was thick and worked well with the short rib. Pork Potstickers (5 pc): I preferred this over the lobster and scallion dumplings. The exterior skin is pan-fried with a nice glaze, hint of truffle. The bite was umami from the creaminess of the Parmigiano Reggiano. Chicken Satay (3 pc): The 3 pieces of chicken were relatively large, very tender, seasoned well. They were well complemented with the peanut sauce that is worth keeping to dip into other things! Don't sleep on the side of spicy cucumber salad, which was so well balanced in tartness and flavor. Pad Thai: This is one of the best Pad Thai I've ever had! The flavors are bursting, with a balance of sweetness, nuttiness from the peanuts, and tartness from a squeeze of lime. Peking Duck for 2: This dish is definitely more than enough for our party of 6 and appeared to be a half serving of the whole duck. The duck pieces are pre-cut for us to self-assemble into the wraps (not the usual bao bun but like thin tortilla wraps). I think I counted 8 wraps? Triple Pork Fried Rice: The rice has a lot of depth and generous chunks of pork. The rice is thicker than regular jasmine with a more chew which I liked. Dragon Tail Spare Ribs: Although this has a nice flavor, handling with your fingers makes them super sticky for your whole dining experience. The restaurant should give out wet towelettes if this dish is ordered!! Meat was tender and easy to chomp off the bone. Tuna Tartare: A small quarter-sized tartare dollop is served atop a small cube bread. The fish was fresh, presentation was beautiful. Was hoping for more tartare for the price point but it was very good. Overall, the dish was not filling so would skip if the party is hungry. Lobster and Scallop Dumplings: Great flavor with reasonable chunks of meat inside. Just preferred the potstickers a lot more! Bok Choy: Pieces were chopped in half and cooked with a nice crunch. Topped with something that gave it more texture. The garlicy taste was forward (in a good way). Rainbow Roll: While it was fresh and the individual pieces were large in portion, this felt like any other sushi roll. Skip this! Side of White Rice is $9?! That's theft and is skippable The amount of food ordered was probably a little more than what we needed but glad we ordered as many as we did.
