First time I found this place I had the absolute best Pho I've ever tasted. I've ordered it at least 4 times since and each time it has been different and not nearly as good. They forget the sauce, they give you different toppings, even the broth has been a different color! They advertise delivery. They have only delivered once in at least 4 tries. It all depends on who answers the phone apparently. Now the Pho I liked I'm told is not available. Then I'm told the menu I have at home has changed and the prices have went up, and the $3.50 coffee I want is now $4.80. All the prices have went up. The problem is they have not changed their menu at all! (meaning my coffee and everything else is still on it! and it's the exact same one I've had at home since May) When I questioned the charge for my pick up order, I was told "oh yeah, those prices aren't right" Well, you print them on the menu and place them in front of your patrons they NEED TO BE CORRECT. They made no effort to apologize or adjust, they just charged me nearly $6. too much and didn't care. In one word, INCONSISTENT. I don't know how they can stay open operating like this. The slightly more expensive and perhaps even weirder Pho Billiards in town has far better quality food, presented beautifully even in Styrofoam! Don't waste your time or money in this place unless you're drunk and hungry after midnight on a Friday and have no other options. read more

Great place for quick, fresh and tasty food. I usually get a noodle bowl and a smoothie on my lunch break. I enjoy going here. There are other noodle joints I prefer but it's good and they're consistent. Not sure where the other bad reviews are coming from about feeling cheated on portions. The pho is really good and super cheap but the menu item that puts this place over the edge is the Vietnamese beef stew, which is hard to find and which they hardly ever have. It's just amazing! Whoever said that this is close to fast-food Vietnamese was spot on. For a Vietnamese restaurant that wants to specialize in Hanoi regional food, where is the bun cha? The pho broth was not very impressive, and the amount of herbs were pretty skimpy. The shame is, there are some really easy fixes that would go a long way. Something else that would go a long way is if the owner would stop bad-mouthing customers, other restaurants, other restaurant owners, etc. It's such a turn-off. Until they get their act together, I'd rather keep going to Saigon Café and resign myself to Southern Vietnamese style cuisines. read more

I was so excited for this place, especially because after reading about them in the paper I was expecting authentic, Northern Vietnamese style food. I was really disappointed. The pho broth was SO bland and there were not nearly as many ingredients as there should have been. Using less meat, etc. in the name of authenticity only goes so far- you can't claim this while still charging American style portion prices. Also, several key ingredients seemed to be left out altogether. I think Noodle King does an excellent job marketing itself on Facebook. If it weren't for that, I doubt it would be able to stay afloat because with so many other reasonably good Vietnamese options around Lancaster (albeit mostly Southern Vietnamese style) it isn't worth the return visit. While a lot of the marketing ideas are great (participation in Taste the World, the 5lb pho challenge, Facebook hype) the actual quality just isn't worth the price, or even the meal spent there. read more

We sat down as the only couple during the post lunch pre dinner lull. I got the pho lunch special which they kindly substituted tofu for the chicken at no charge. The pho was okay. I feel like it was missing many things that usually come in vegetarian pho dishes a la bok choi, shallots, cruciferous vegetables, carrots, etc. Also they served the dish with lemons instead of limes which was weird. I always order the rare beef pho, and since I have a bunch of unruly kids, I always get it to go. It's addictive. From what I've seen on Facebook posts from the restaurant, many or most of the ingredients are imported from Vietnam. And the pho broth is simmered from bones for something like 24 hours. The artwork on the walls is also brought from Vietnam and if you look closely, they are embroidered, not painted. The artwork is also for sale. The coffee is STRONG. Even iced with condensed milk, it will be stronger than any other local iced coffee you can find. Once I get my kids under control, I would love to come for the $1 chicken pho special they have in-house on the first Saturday of every month. read more

Best pho in town. I have tried them all. The restaurant is a very modest setting, but their food is truly authentic and delicious. Staff is very friendly. I highly recommend Noodle King for a lunch with friends or coworkers (there is a large table!) or for a quick dinner on the way home. My go-to is Chicken Pho with veggie egg rolls!! if i could give three and a half stars, i would. this place wasn't bad by any stretch, but i think i'm a little spoiled from spending so much time in philly, where pho joints abound. pros - the location is great for city-dwellers and people who visit the city frequently! the service was very friendly. the staff were very knowledgeable about the food, accommodated my dietary restrictions (i don't eat grains so i had to get my pho without noodles), and friendly. the place was spotlessly clean, also, and i saw the staff cleaning up tables quite thoroughly immediately after every customer left. the food was also pretty tasty for what it was. cons - the portions were a bit on the small side, when compared to my pho experiences elsewhere. i certainly didn't feel gypped -- on average, it was about $10/person to feed us all adequately. while the food was tasty, i agree with a previous reviewer that it's not quite up to snuff to authentic pho that can be found elsewhere (see: virtually anywhere in philadelphia, or rice & noodles here in lancaster). also, their "white weasel" coffee, was WAY too sweet. OMG. i'm sure they used sweetened condensed milk, which is standard, but i swear they added MORE sugar to it! i couldn't drink it. overall, though, i was pleased with my experience and i will come here again. it's not mindblowing, but it's certainly not bad, either. my son loved their egg rolls, which is a big plus. and it's pretty close to my place on the west end, so i'll definitely be back. read more

It might have taken four years to finally try Pho, but I made a great choice for my first time! Had the opportunity to visit Noodle King on Wednesday before our little group went to the Fulton Theater to see a show. None of us had ever had Pho before and the owner/staff was very helpful and anxious to please us with our choices. And they didn't disappoint! I can't wait to go back and try something else. Don't be deceived by the modest location on Duke st. This is the best Pho in town, maybe the best Pho I have had. The menu is extensive consisting of about 15 varieties of Pho, Noodle dishes, Noodle salads, etc. My all time favorite is the Vegetarian Pho. Most vegetarian Pho are just vegetable broth, but their broth is heady. Full of aromatic spices (lemongrass, lime, ginger, garlic). I could drink the stuff, it is so good. They also have a location on Oregon Pike behind Turkey Hill. They staff is extremely friendly and willing to accommodate special requests. I like my Pho without noodles and extra veggies. read more

Came in for a quick lunch with family before leaving town. Had fried chicken with rice that was fairly good with crispy chicken skin, white meats n white rice. The place is renovating tomorrow and changing its name afterward I'm told by the waitress. Overall not a bad place but badly needed the renovation. read more

Coming from Northern CA we were shocked to find such awesome Vietnamese food in Lancaster. The Pho and spring rolls are outstanding - I'd hold it up against any of our favorites places in Mountain View. The ramen is OK, but not really ramen - if you're looking for traditional Japanese ramen with wheat noodles, look elsewhere. It's basically just more pho with slightly different ingredients. read more

I love pho and was very happy to check out a new (to me) place near work. The inside is fun and trendy for eating in. I ordered the pho with medium rare beef. It was a large serving with LOTS of fresh ingredients but it was surprisingly bland compared to other places I've gotten pho. Sometimes I wonder if international cuisines get Americanized (meaning blah) because we think we're adventurous but we're really not. From the other reviews I've read it seems like lots of people love it so I'll probably give it another shot. read more

disagree with the AK review...this person is too americanized about Pho... this is northern pho, and there were jalapenos served... the teas was hot and flavorful, and the coffee rich this is authentic stuff...if you had been in Vietnam. Min will give a good review of the regional differences for pho we would love to try s fish one, but Min says it is too fishy strong the spring rolls are light and the dipping sauce is a bit different than the americanized version but this is authentic stuff here great value and tastes read more

Pho was very good. We have been looking for a replacement restaurant to get Pho since our favorite restaurant closed. We have been trying al of the Vietnamese restaurants in and around Lancaster. Noodle King has been the best, by far. The broth is still lacking a little of the depth of flavor that LeViet provided, but I won't quibble since we have been experiencing some very lackluster Pho over the past few weeks. The service at Noodle King was excellent. The young man that took care of us was welcoming, professional and knowledgeable. Hetook time to make recommendation, was available when we needed him, but was not intrusive. Very good experience, we will be back! read more

Ok, let's acknowledge the pink elephant in the room: there are some untrue, and outright whiny reviews on this page. I was blessed to spend an unforgettable month backpacking Vietnam, and I have never had better food. I was absolutely dying to try this place when I returned, and I finally got to! This IS the most authentic Vietnamese food I have had outside of Vietnam. They actually ship many of their ingredients from there, and it shows. Yes, I asked. I ordered the Vietnamese Hoagies, the spring rolls wrapped in rice paper, and one of the salads, to go. All were absolutely awesome, and my mother, aunt, and uncle were impressed. I was impressed that i spent less than $20 for that amount of food! This is comfort food at it's finest, but it's also totally healthy. I loved the vibe of the place, with the little murals of the landmarks of Vietnam. There were plenty of people here, and a few waiting to eat here. 100% authentic and delicious. If I could give less than star I would. This establishment had the worst customer service I have ever encountered. We had a small take-out order of 3 items and was given an estimate of 30 minutes, over an hour and a half later we were still waiting for our order. It was sub-par at best, the server gave no explanation and was not accommodating, and the customers currently in the restaurant seemed to be very rude. read more

Pretty solid, got the ham and rib noodle soup. The noodles were a bit soft, but the flavor was outstanding. The spring rolls were enjoyable, but I wasn't a fan of the house sauce, just a little to sweet for me. The selection isn't as larger as other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, but they seem to do it well. I will be going here again. This place is no longer called Noodle King. It is now called Viet Fresh. They closed temporarily for renovations and when they opened it was changed to more of a cafeteria buffet look. The King Salad is no longer an option and they serve you in a smaller cardboard dish (also you don't have the option to have the sliced egg rolls in the salad). We asked the lady serving the food whether we could have the King Salad and she nastily commented "NO". The food isn't fresh (despite the name) as the chicken tasted like it was prepared the day before. Noodle King was a real treat with excellent service and freshly prepared food while this new rendition is a shell of its former self. The lady claims it is under the same management but I haven't seen the owner in quite a long time and I believe she is just pretending they are still the managers so that she can keep the long time customers coming back. It was the first time we ate at Viet Fresh and it will also be the last unless Noodle King returns to its former glory. read more

After being suggested numerous times by friends, I finally stopped in there. The food is nothing short of amazing. I can't go downtown now without stopping in so beware, eating there could start a noodle king addiction. I also don't eat meat(but I do eat some seafood) and they are always excellent at accommodating me, not to mention their prices are fantastic. Also their service is probably the best I've had downtown and you can bring your own wine, an all over win. read more
