The sauce was very watery, to me good chinese food depends on a few things in my opinion but the very most important thing is the sauces and the thickness of the sauce. This place I've had twice where it was watery super thin. Also the general tso sauce here was terrible not sure if it was the wrong sauce or if it was not made correctly but wasn't good. Ordered thru their website for pickup as this place was a couple blocks down the road from my hotel. Food was ready on time, order made correctly, and served super hot and fresh. Veggies were crisp. Entrees included the added tofu and made spicy as requested. The $3 upcharge for lo mein or fried rice are worth it since you get the same portion for a small size. Would order again. read more

We had to bring dinner for a big group, so we looked into different options around the area and found this. My wife called the order in, and the gentleman on the phone was very friendly. We got to the restaurant shortly after, and almost everything was ready. There, my wife was on a call for some time, so I was starting to bring the food to the car. The gentleman who had taken our order saw me and followed me with the big box, which I thought was really nice! We had to order some more food, which was ready pretty quickly as well. We enjoyed our late night Chinese delivery from them last night. Everything was piping hot when it arrived and we live about 15 min from the restaurant. We ordered vegetable lo mein and it was very good. My husband ordered the sweet and sour chicken platter which he really liked, the chicken tasted good and was in nice small pieces instead of larger tougher ones. Our egg rolls were yummy too, we shared crab Rangoon's and they were hands down the best I've ever had! So so good. read more

Our family took a chance on takeout here and were pretty pleased since they are w in walking distance to our house. We had Gen Tsos chicken combo, lemon chicken and veg lo mein. All were about what you expect from local chinese american takeout, maybe less greasy than most. Lo mein was so so, Gen Tsos was pretty good, but nothing special. The lemon chicken was really the winner here and Id def get it again. A serving good for two w rice, its panko crumb fried, and comes w a lemon honey sauce for dipping. I like that it came separately, bc too much would've ruined it. Overall a good experience and we will prob be back bc of its proximity and food was pretty good. Service was fine and quick. read more

This place would have gotten 4 stars from me a year ago but they have gone so far down hill. Tonight I got the spicy beef combo. Not only was there literally no spice...I literally had 5 tiny strips of beef. The rest was the largest cuts of veggies I have ever seen. If you're in the mood for cheap, greasy chinese american food, you can count on China Taste. Some dishes they do better than their main competition (Wok 'n roll), others worse. It boils down to preference and convenience. A deal breaker with China Taste though is their poor service. Delivery's fine, but if you eat in the restaurant you'll be met with service that ranges from quietly hostile to, at best, apathetic. If your job is customer service, then it might be a good idea to say more than how much the meal costs when you're interacting with patrons. However, picking up your food will largely bypass the saltiness of the employees. read more

Was told 10 mins for order waited 40 mins. was also forced to check out when I got there after I said something about the wait than had to wait even more. They claimed they were busy but they weren't. They were literally throwing money into cardboard boxes and checked two people out in front of me. both had the same exact thing but charged 5$ cheaper to the second person if they paid cash. I'm a fanatical Chinese-food lover, having worked in a wonderful takeout on Long Island for most of my high school years, so my standards are quite high. When I'm visiting the family in Ephrata, China Taste is the only place I'll order from. I'm bummed they took the veggie dumplings off their menu, but I was really surprised at how good the pizza rolls were, even if they aren't "authentic" Chinese cuisine. I remember being home sick from school and my dad got Chinese from them. They are my go to Chinese place. I have been going here for so long. The only thing I can say is they need to update online menu. Prices are fair and for the lunch specials prices you get a lot of food. Combination platters are good pricing too. Service is always good (delivery). They deliver to me free as long as my order is over $10. Delivery times always vary but it's no worse than ordering a pizza. China Taste is about what you would expect from a small town Chinese restaurant. I enjoy what I have had here but I stick with the basics: generals tso and chicken and broccoli. The food is greasy which is to be expected for American Chinese food. The biggest problem I have had with this restaurant is my wife found a staple in her food a couple of years ago, which obviously kept us from going back until about a year ago. The inside of the restaurant itself is nothing to right home about, in fact I would say it borders on dirty. The staff is fine, but often taking personal calls between waiting on customers. If you are in the mood for Chinese food in the downtown Ephrata area China Taste will definitely work but if you are just hungry and passing through town I would probably go with something else. read more

In the context of Asian take out, this place is pretty good. They don't come close to Tokyo Asian but that is a restaurant. I like the staff a lot. My judgement is based on the General Tso Chicken platter. Maybe they do better with other dishes but that one is a touch greasy for my taste. Nevertheless, good food, good people, good price. My wife might give them five stars. That is a category I reserve for the the tippy top. Very rare that I do that. :) Some people drive all the way from Lancaster to eat here so I'm not kidding when I say that they are pretty good. read more

I went to China Taste for the first time last night. We ordered General Tso's Chicken with beef rice and Crab Rangoon. I got a spring roll too which happily surprised me because I didn't order it and I love them. As soon as we started eating it my husband and I both agreed it was not very good Chinese food, but since I was so hungry I ate it anyway. Unfortunately for me, I spent the entire night feeling sick and got very little sleep. I will never go back to China Taste. I may never go back to any Chinese restaurant after that meal! read more

This is an interesting one. It is not the best in the area, there are better. The food is pretty good, but the cleanliness is bad, and you can tell just by looking behind the building. I am a fanatic about Chinese food and will try just about anything. I make my own and have had some of the best from around the US, including Washington State and even parts of Canada. This place is the best in the area! It's one of my top 10 in the country. I love their take on the Crab Cheese Wontons! They are to die for and they are nearly the only ones who make them this way. I went there the other day and ordered the same thing and it looked good(inside the dining room) but today I ordered to go and it was terrible!! for $30.00 there was 2 huge orange slices in the middle ( when I took the oranges out, it looked like a lunch!! The fried rice was so bland and had nothing in it but some coloring(soy sauce?) I will never pay extra for fried rice again... the one dish had peanuts and was all bitter half cooked carrots and celery with only a few shrimp. I couldn't eat it. The dish with battered (Gen Pso??) chicken was like rubber and stuck in a huge ball. I have eaten Chinese in many cities and this one is still the best. In fact, it puts the other ones to shame. Food never disappoints and everything I have had is good. Actual charge was $4.50, and you could not find a scallop under all that breading. House special soup was a load of cabbage. Charges were 20 % more then stated on line.
